Ubuntu? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Does anyone know if someone is developing an android ROM based off of the Ubuntu OS?
Edit; I'm talking about the theming mostly. Similar to how Miui or Paranoid Android. Does anyone know something like this is possible?
I'd really like to try something like that.

Re: Ubuntu based ROM?

You just drink some less bottles of beer but it will be worthwhile.
I'm very happy with the TSF Shell :good:

Saw this in Galaxy Nexus forums, can anyone port?

I saw this today in the Galaxy Nexus forums and thought this was pretty slick looking. I tried to flash the AOKP version for the Galaxy Nexus but you can probably guess it didn't work too well haha, was wondering if anyone could port this for hydrogen rom/CM9?

It's use modified SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk... so it's rather difficult to make universal version, it's so much ROM and theme dependence....
but it's worth a try....
I'll try to port this over the weekend!
Pretty simple if we just stick to the rootzwiki and the porting guide tutorial!
There are apps out there that do that and they all take up your notification bar except for two, TASKXP and MultiTasking, I use TASKXP on all my devices and love it
Please don't port it, we don't need WP7 look-alike crap on our phones. Multitasking looks better as it is.

Kewl... But mind me asking how your going about porting this... From everything I've read on the Jelly Bean port for the Nexus, it's a nandroid backup from one of the I/O Nexus's that was ripped and stripped.

Looks like the international version will be getting the JB update. I am wondering if someone can do a port and possibly use the drivers from the ICS update once it finally gets released.

JB ROM on VZW
Read on androidguys this morning the galaxy nexus (GSM and Verizon) have a working JB ROM.
http://www.androidguys.com/2012/06/...n-galaxy-nexus-phones-available-for-download/
I gave the Verizon version a look on rootzwiki (link near bottom of article) and it seems they are having no major issues.
I am definately more excited about JB than I was when I went to bed last night...

That website is just speculating. The only devices confirmed to be getting the update are the ones Google listed during their presentation.

?

On a scale of 1-10, how hard do you guys think it would be to get a team together to port jelly bean touchwiz to the sprint GNex?
Since you said team I'd say 10. Nobody wants that junk especially not enough to make a team.

If you're not going to post anything constructive and stay respectful then it's probably a good idea that you don't post anything at all. Many OS' have been ported to different devices so bashing others for suggesting it is just asinine.
