I used it for a day or so, and then promptly uninstalled it.
I found that it killed my battery twice as fast, overall made the phone really sluggish and never properly uploaded my contacts..
But hey that's just me
Oh Yeah? I've been using it for the past 30 mins, so far so good. hmm, wierd. Actually, the first time I did the sync, it didn't sync it properly, mean it did but some of my messages were missing, i resynced it 30 mins ago i.e. once again and now it's perfect so far. Well, I hope it's something I can use and not let go because so far I really like it.
Everyone else, whoever has used it or is going to use it, please post some feedback.
P.S: I've figured out everything except visual voicemail. How does that work?

ive been using it for a few months..good stuff.
I use it. I'll admit it's a startup hog but worth it. It can be a life saver. Only problem I have had is one. Now I'm eventually going to get around to fixing it lol. Here is the only problem.
All of us have at least one time or another had problems with Active Sync. I had to re-sync it and Outlook also saves my contacts. What occurred for me is if you have to reinstall Active sync it will add a double amount of contacts. I'm my case 4 of each...LOL. Basically when first installing Dashwire it will give you the options to overwrite some or leave them alone.
Either way I'm going to have to stop dashwire from syncing. Then exit it. Then thru active sync uncheck outlook contacts. Then delete All of my contacts. The thing that champs my @ss is I set up voice command on some of my contacts which is a pain.
I also can't figure out the custom way to save via contacts---sim manager---backup contacts. It tells you that you need to delete them first wtf?
Put it this way I always backup my stuff. I don't want to not be prepared for a crash.
Looks good, but it seems to drain the battery a lot faster. Good stuff but I will give it another shot once my extended battery comes in.
Appreciate the write-up and the feedback!
Battery drain is an issue that we've been working on for the past couple of weeks. We're still not done, but we've added some things that should make a difference. We do really suggest our users set Dashwire to automatic sync because with manual the sync technology isn't optimized.
And sorry to hear about the contact dupes. As you've discovered, contacts added to a new or reset phone using Dashwire will be duplicated if a user attempts to synchronize with Outlook via ActiveSync after the fact. You first have to add your contacts to your phone via ActiveSync before adding Dashwire to your phone. If you start with ActiveSync first, then you won't see any problems with contact duplicates. After that there shouldn't be any issues.
Visual Voicemail works through a 3rd party application called CallWave. You have to sign-up for it first, input your credentials, and then it should work straight from the dashboard.
Any more questions or feature requests feel free to let us know. We take what user's say and suggest pretty seriously.

First off, I would like to Congratulate you and your team for making this happen. Very beautiful concept! Your team has done a great job! Keep up the good work.
Battery Drain:
I don't know if I've experienced battery drain but if other users are, that should be your #1 concern because you want people to use Dashwire and when it comes to the battery, people will prefer a ever ready battery over battery drain. I've set my account to automatic sync as I have an unlimited data plan. If I do experience battery drain, I will post feedback here. I'm glad to know your working on it, though.
Automatic Startup:
I got rid of the Automatic startup as my bootup process was taking longer then it should. I personally noticed a slow bootup so, I'd appreciate if you could work on that. However, from nowonwards I will manually start the program so it syncs when I choose to until you can work on a fix.
Duplicate Contacts:
No comments as I didn't experience this.
Visual Voicemail:
This is a great service but it sucks to know CallWave charges for their services. Could you not offer a free service for voicemail? I'm aware of youmail but youmail does not work for International users right now. If you can look into this, that'd be great. I'd be definitely interested and I'm sure others will be too.
------------------
Personal Issues:
Contacts
So far, everythings work as it should but my contacts are out of order.
Page 1 starts with I, J, K, L, M, N, O, H, P, R, S.
Page 2 continues with S, T, U, V, W, Y, Z, A
Page 3 ends with A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H
Any idea how I could fix this? Please let me know, Thanks.
------------------
Suggestions
1) Ringtones: Right now, they are only accessed from the phone storage. Any way to access the ring tones on storage card?
2) Real-time Home Screen: Maybe you could use this to control your phone, for screen shots etc
3) Transfer ringtones: Transfer directly from websites to dashwire which will sync to the phone directly. For example, you come across a ringtone site, you right click it and it says transfer to dashwire which automatically syncs it with the phone into the right folder and you can change your ringtone from the website. This could help when you don't have wires and you want to upload a new ring tone etc.
4) Change Wallpaper: Using the above idea, you can do the same with wallpapers.
5) Backup Text messages to PC: Download textmessages as a .txt file to PC
6) Download Pictures or Videos to PC: Using this option, you can download pictures or videos to PC.
Those are some suggestions for now. Let me know what you think. Finally, Thanks for making this FREE. Looking forward to more updates in the future.
---------------------------------------------------------
Should you need my help in anything, please let me know.
Good Luck!
Best Regards,
lukybandit
Anyone try this? If so, post some feedback.
tried it...hate it. only backed up 1/2 of my contacts..... slow as molasses below freezing...

Sorry about that... looks like in preparation for the release of some new features we made some changes to the server. In the process something broke down on our end and users are unable to install the mobile client at the moment. We are working on it right now, and I'll report here the moment we get everything working again.
Dashwire - I posted suggestions, comments and personal issues I was going through. Please look into it when you get a chance, Thanks.
You should now be able to download the Mobile Client.
@lukybandit: Looks like a great response that you posted that addressed a lot of key issues. I'll respond to it when I get a chance. Thanks for all the help and the feedback.
I just started using it right now and its syncing everything up. Seems pretty cool so far...lets see if it lags my phone.
After going through this forum i decided to build this app.
this app is still a beta(plz test)
This basically allows a user to set up time when the device will wake up and check if there are any bdays(after 2 hrs) and if there is then it will send a user configurable message to that contact.
This app also allows the user to add all his contacts bday from contact list to the calendar as an appointment.
NOTE: This app will send messages to only those contacts who have been added thru this app.
Steps to use it:
1. Go to options and add contact Bdays.
2. Set a generic BDay wish message.
3. Set the scheduler default is 00:00Hrs
4. Options-> save and exit.
How It works:
1> Select all the Bday from the contacts in outlook contacts and add those in the calendar as an appointment.
2> User configures a birthday message to be sent thru the SMS to the BDay BOY/GIRL.
3> Select a scedule time at which the app will run and check if there are any bdays to be wished. (threshold time is 2hrs). This is done by creating a notification to save memory and battery.
4> After checking for any bdays the app will reschedule it self for the next day at the same time.
5> If there are bday in calendar it will send a SMS to that contact with ur wish message.
SocialSync
XDA member binary64 has developed a tool to import the facebook details to your outlook contacts,
so now you can get bdays for your contacts configured through facebook...
SocialSync
Requirement:
.net3.5
Please test and let me know if there are any problems.
To check for logs please find the log file in the install location/BDaySMS/log.msg (It contains success messages, Contact name to whom it has sent the message and error messages.)
NEW UPDATE
If you have installed the previous version(before v.3) please copy clean.zip and run it before you install the updated version. Clean.exe will clean the bday appointments created by the BDaySMS app from the calendar. It will not effect your other appointments.
Fixed some crashes and bugs.
Gives another option in menu to clean bdays appointments created by this app.
It creates bday appointments under the category "SMSBIRTHDAYS" earlier it was "BIRTHDAYS"
Before v.3 There was a crash every time a bday sms was sent. This has been fixed. PLZ take the new cab.
UPDATES FOR v0.3
1. User can now set a custom message with option to add name.
2. Clear Schedule now works, removes the schedule from device.
Using name:
NOTE: To add name of the person click add name button, this will insert a string in the message that will be replaced with the Contacts Nick Name or first name (if user has no nick name then it will take first name), So for your contacts please make sure that you have a correct Nick name or a First Name.
UPDATE FOR v0.4
1. BUG FIX: If there are more than one bdays on the same day and a custom name message has been configured, the application sends the same name to all the contacts. This issue has been fixed in v0.4 Thanks to Luigi_follina
2. Calendar event now has the status free.
UPDATE FOR v0.5
Added progress bar at the bottom to show the progress while adding contacts bday to calendar.
UPDATE FOR v0.6
1. Fixed an issue were it would send the message to the old number if the number was changed for a contact.(Thanks to Luigi for pointing out)
2. Clean the entries from menu option then add again.
Update for V 1.0
1. Appointments will be added as a fullday event.
2. The birthday messages sent will be saved in sent items of your sms.
v 1.1
1. Fixed condition where sendsms.exe keeps running in the background.
After installing clean the contacts bday first using the menu option in the app and then add again.
SUPPORT LATE NIGHTS- DONATE!
Will test this on Leo

Hey, I have installed this app but, you missed to tell everyone that one should install .Net 3.5 to run this app. Well, I did and so far it makes sense.
Also, it makes sense to develop an app for filtering calls too...

Thank you soo much
I was looking for this application since a long time! Cannot wait to test it!!
First bug
It is not a blocking bug, but something that can be enached.
I saw that the program looks among my Outlook contact and makes a match with the Outlook calendar events, which is fantastic.
But for the contacts that have also a "Middle Name", for some reasons, the program creates a new calendar event and basically does not consider the already present events.
I dont know is I wrote correctly the bug; I hope so.
Many Thanks!
Ciao!

This is an awsome application but I was wondering if something could be intigrated into facebook to allow people to send a message to friends on there who list thier numbers and birthdays... NOW that would sell a million ;-) Like Moonpig.com but for Mobiles lol... also maybe choose a preset picture message too... just a few things to get ya teeth sunk into this xmas

Yes i was expecting that, as it looks for the first and the last name only...
i think it should satisfy almost all names, so i overlooked that.
and one more thing even if it overlooks the already added events it might not trigger sms for those as they were not added thru this application.
so u might have to delete the already present (birthday)events which were not created using this and then run add contacts from this app again

Mohit, thanks for giving shape to the idea. I've set it on my phone though had some issues with display on Touch HD but was able to use the controls and set it up. Couple of questions that I had in mind -
1. Does it have to be left running at all times or can I at least shove it off my running task list.
2. Every time I add a new contact and his / her birthday do I have to update this software too to add the new contact to it's list.
But otherwise it seems to be a nice piece of work. If you can spare some time for refinement do let me know.
Thanks,
Umesh.
Can you tell me if it works on your contacts or your calander?
Sorry didn't read the first post.. found the awser in there.
**Development has stopped. I bought an Evo and am no longer developing for Windows Mobile at this time. I have attached the Visual Studio 2008 Solution in the attachments at the bottom for anyone that wants to take up the development.**
SMS Cloud Backup reads your SMS account (no MMS available yet) and sends a backup of all your SMS Conversation (threaded) to an email account of your choice. The body of the email is filled with your conversation (one email per conversation). You can also choose to send a backup of your SMS account an an attachment in a separate email for future restores (Restore option will be available in the next release). You can also choose to clear out your SMS account folders (Inbox, Sent, and Deleted). You may install this application on your Storage Card if you so desire.
Suggestions for use:
You can set up a filter to filter all emails from Cloud SMS Backup so they all will be stored in one location. See output screenshot.
Requirements:
.NET CF 3.5

Did you buy any chance run the application twice (without exiting first)? That's what caused the error for me. I'll try and narrow down the problems (should be as simple as clearing resources and checking for null values) and re-up a new version.
Thanks for testing it out.

got the error the first time after install. so did a soft reset and tried again but same error.
is the error anything to do with active sync? want to add gmail imap but dont want to mess my email settings as already have google sync working for contacts, calender and mail.
when u re-up, will surely check again. it will be nice having messages backed up on gmail. easy to use/access than microsoft my phone.
thanks for taking the effort.

Hey man...I like the idea. One question though. I turned the "Send backup file as attachment" setting to "ON", but when I sync'd with my email it wasn't one attachment. It sent 127 separate emails with the text in the e-mail, instead of an attachment. Is some sort of .txt file supposed to be created or am I not understanding the "send backup file as attachment" correctly? Thanks!

looks like NullReferenceException, some value did not fill in the array i guess.
Should be easily fixable.
Great application.
You can make similar thing for contacts also which are created in Outlook when no other sync is set.
Basically all features of Microsoft MyPhone, but instead this will be sent to emails with attachement.

You will get a separate email for each conversation you have (1 per person). You will also get another email with JUST an attachment of ALL of your messages. Consider this attachment an image of your SMS account at the time you backed up.
Since you got 127 emails, this means you were talking to 126 different people (wow!) and 1 of the emails contains an attachment with the .bin file which is your image

There are already so many apps that backup contacts as text. If there is a demand for it, i dont mind creating one (should be easy enough). I wrote this because there really isn't any GOOD THREADED SMS backup apps. My phone doesn't let you export, PIM backup isn't threaded.
Thanks for the support! I'll try and fix the few bugs already found in the next couple days.
Worked Great on my Touch Pro 2, thanks.

Gotcha. I'll look out for the .bin e-mail in there somethere. The only thing I noticed about the high number of e-mails is that I havent had that many threaded convos. I noticed that I got 4 or 5 separate emails for a convo with one person. Each e-mail would start with the same txt, but then end at varying places, then another e-mail would be recreated starting at the same spot. I wonder if it's not working properly b/c I'm on WinMo 6.1 [w/ .net 3.5 installed]. (I've been outta the flashing loop for a while and re-flashed back to the stock ROM b/c I needed some stability in the builds) Any good recs on a more recent Verizon Touch Pro rom? [i know it's "ancient"].

That is VERY odd behavior. I have a 6.5.x ROM on Sprint. Its the only device I have so I'm not sure about 6.1. The behavior SHOULD be the same I would assume. Once I figure out the Null Ref problem, I'll look more into this.
my M8 is not syncing the facebook contacts after the facebook app update... Are others facing the same problem??? Do help if there is any solution to it...

Finally got it working for Facebook contacts, surely Facebook really know how to piss off people. Just FULL uninstall your current Facebook app and then download and install this old version of the app. http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/facebook-2/facebook/facebook-27-0-0-0-15-android-apk-download/ The app has its old Sync Contact options on the Setting menu and it will sync contacts on your phone book. Now I've heard that after syncing all contacts, it should be OK to update it on the Play Store.
Just updated Facebook to the latest version it the Sync Contacts sticked on the app itself.

Hi. Thanks for post. I now have option to sync fb contacts, but list is empty. Any ideas?
I mean, I now have fb sync option in my phone book menu, but the list is empty if I try to link a fb contact with a phone book contact. I still have no contact sync option in my Facebook. Help?

This worked! It takes a bit for my FB contacts to load up again on my phone, but once they load, they have been automatically linking to their corresponding contacts in my contacts list (the default Contact List that comes with the original HTC One Android OS). I do not display my FB contacts with "All People" but the pictures from their FB profiles are starting to all flood in once again! Thank you so much for this! Now I just have to keep my phone from updating to the latest version of FB for Android, or else I will run back into the same issue.
Side Note: I called HTC regarding this issue, and the lady I spoke with said that HTC IS aware of the problem, HOWEVER, it is a Facebook problem, not a HTC problem, and all we can supposedly do is wait for FB to fix it. Ha! FB sucks, but I like having the pictures with the names, so until they get their heads out their asses, this is the best solution.
Cheers Mate!
EDIT: Before posting this reply I checked my phone because I was going to give my HTC One M8 info and Android OS info, but as I looked, Facebook must have already automatically upgraded to the newest version, putting right back in the same place... UGH! I hate FB. Maybe I can find another Contacts App that can handle this. SMH. FU FB!

HTC told me to contact Facebook directly, which I just did... Apparently they know about it, but it is an issue directly with Facebook's app. I will post any information I receive from them, IF I receive any... See my post from earlier today.

So far so good. That is what I just did, before repeating the above process. I did not realize I could turn off auto updates globally; I had FB Auto-Update off, but not globally for all my apps. Since I was connected to WiFi earlier, it instantly ignored my request not to update, and that is when it failed again. This is working so far, I will let you know if it ends up failing, again... Thanks much! :good:
I still have no fb contacts showing in my phone book. Sync is enabled. I'm puzzled! I have also noticed that I can't sync my htc account and the restore function is also greyed out.......

Hey man, sorry to hear you are having so many difficulties here. First off, I suggest you call HTC Support, which won't take long, they don't have any hold times, and they are typically very helpful, at least when I have called. Their number is 1-866-449-8358. They can help with the HTC account part you previously mentioned. IF not, let me know and I will post a fix for that. I am referring you to them because it may be an issue related directly to your personal account. If we can rule that out, then we can work on other options.
Now... regarding Facebook... did you install the older version suggested above in this thread? Once you have installed the older version, turn contact syncing on, choose "Sync with Existing Contacts," as shown in the picture provided. This will get your current Phonebook Contacts linked to their FB profiles and profile pics. Next, go into "Accounts and Sync" in Settings, and make sure you have Facebook listed there, click on it, and make sure that your actual account is listed there. If it is not there, you can easily add the account using the "+" symbol at the top right of "Accounts and Sync." Click that "+" symbol and follow the onscreen instructions. That is pretty easy. Now if it is already there, make sure "Auto-Sync" is turned on, you should see a switch at the top of "Accounts and Sync" for this, and it just has to be in the "On" position.
If you follow those steps above, there are just a few more steps, to make sure you get your Facebook contacts to appear in your contacts list/phonebook. First, you will have to open your contacts (if not already open), and then click the top left icon labeled "Phonebook," and under that word should most likely be "Multiple Sources," unless you only have one source of contacts selected, like I do, in which case it will just say the name of that source, which in my case is Google. To give you an idea of what that looks like for me, in Contacts, it says at the top left, "Phonebook" with "Google" below that, and these words are one big link for a drop down list. Now click on the drop down link (again, top left icon in Contacts, just under notification bar), and this drop down list will have all of your accounts that you have signed into in "Accounts & Sync" in Settings (which you should have set up previously when you visited that area, if you are following these steps in this order). Make sure "Facebook" is checked off, and that it has a number in parenthesis next to it (which is the number of Facebook "Friends" you have). You can also check off other contact lists that you would like to appear in your overall list, i.e. Twitter, LinkedIn, Google, Google+, Phone Contacts (which in my case is the AT&T Address book), SIM, etc. Once you select Facebook, and/or the other contacts, they should auto-populate your entire Phonebook/Contacts list. If you have duplicates, you may want to "Link" the contacts and/or "Merge" the contacts, which we can get into further later on if need be. (If you want to try this part alone, go to "Manage Contacts" in the top right drop down menu.
Quote this message in your next response, so I can see how you made out. IF you are still having issues, I will try my best to solve your problem(s). By quoting me, I get an email and I can respond faster. Also, if you can, send me your phone Model, and Android version. We can get this figured out for you, I promise, one way or another. Best of luck. :fingers-crossed:
Photos are back! I had done everything that you said but my phonebook list showed that I had 0 Facebook contacts. Since my last post my phone updated to 6.0. And I still had no fb contacts showing. I then allowed fb to update. All that was remove the option to allow link fb in my phonebook . Iuninstalled fb and reinstalled the earlyversion again and then the fb photos stated appearing... However, I still do not have the contact sync section showing at the bottom of the fb app setting menu. (Not that I'm worried by that )Thank youvery much for your help.
Facebook got back to me. They "no longer support Contacts Sync on the Facebook Android app." So the only way to do this is to follow the above steps. It is still working for me, as long as I do not update the app.

Congrats mate! See what Facebook told me?
Hi.
I got a Google Pixel 2XL with the latest Android P build flashed.
So it comes that I got the new Google contacts app (which has Material Design 2, when dialer and SMS app still have Material Design 1 - pretty lame).
This contact app by Google syncs my contacts I imported from a local file to the Google servers even if contact sync is disabled in the settings for accounts.
I even rooted and deleted the contact sync adapter APK, but the contact app still syncs my data without giving me an opt-out choice.
It syncs user photos into my contacts which I do not want to be there... I delete them and they reappear.
What am I supposed to do if I do not want my contacts to be synced? Sync way back some years was a mess and often gave me mixed up results of contacts structure.
That is why I manage my contacts locally only. Third party contacts apps are not my taste.
So... shame on Google for just grabbing my contacts data. What about the GDPR and my privacy?
I don't know. I love Google syncing of everything. One less thing to have to do manually or micromanage.

Yes, I understand that.
But why is there an option for disabling contact sync in the first place, if my stuff gets synced anyway without opt-out?
May I have a piece of your cake? No? You don't want me to? I take it anyway.

Disable sync in the Google account settings of the Android main settings menu.
Open the newest version of Google contacts (which gets updated via Google play in the Pie stock ROM of P2XL).
Open Chrome or any browser on your PC. Log in to your Google account.
Go to contacts icon and view your contacts. Select all. Delete all.
Open the contact app on P2XL and scroll from top to bottom, then a loading spinner appears... and all your contacts get synced as one
can see when reloading the browser/page on the PC.
That is the scenario here. I just tested it 10 minutes ago.
Well the thing is I have no contacts at all with my secondary account to even do such a test. I logged in on my computer and it's empty just like my screenshot. I'll create a few fake ones and see if I can reproduce your issue.

I reported the thing to Google, and just now there was an update for the contacts app.
Now when accidently scrolling up and the spinner appears contacts do not get synced anymore
as it seems if contact sync is disabled.
And now again after an app update. I added a new contract. Can not store locally anymore. As I added the contact suddenly all of my contacts were gone after a spinner appeared. I reimported then using a local file. Suddenly my contacts were synced to Google servers again, even though I got contact sync disabled in the device account settings.
You're really going to continue having issues if you don't sync your contacts because there is no "save to device" option with Pixel phones.

It's all written in the op. And if I decide to opt-out in account settings for not syncing my contacts to Google servers, but the contact app does not respect that and syncs anyway without giving me a chance to use just the device storage to save my contacts (as I always did for almost ten years now - I never synced them), I ask myself why there even is an opt-out ... and what nonsense Google is up to anyway.
I get that you're having issues with that (Again I have a second Google account that's unchecked to sync and remains at 0 contacts) but I was asking what's not to like about syncing contacts with Google? Why are you opting out in the first place? Seems such a hassle to manually create contact files, export, import, etc. That's as much a hassle as not using the Google Photos unlimited full quality backup and having to import everything manually to a computer.

Google contacts sync was importing user fotos which I never wanted to be there, and it mixed up contacts I did not want. It took data from G+, mixed it with data and contacts from other Google services.
My contact book is very well organized, and using Google contact sync is giving up full control. I do not use gDrive, google Photos and such either. I do not like and use every feature of the Google eco system. I like to keep my stuff offline depending on what it is.

I had a feeling you probably didn't use Google Photos or other Google services. Nothing wrong with that. To each their own.

I had a chat with the German Google support. The guy confirmed that the opt-out for not syncing contacts to Google servers in the account settings of the phone is not doing anything at all regarding the new contact app with material design 2. He told me to use only the dialer to manage my contacts, and not to use the contact app, which makes no sense at all. He also told me to contact the development office via the feedback interface of Android to complain there.
