GAPPS update - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello,
I am using a custom ROM (Rootbox) with AK Cylon kernel. I just received notification from GOO manager that there is Gapps update. My question is it okay to just flash the latest Gapps update? Do I need to reflash the ROM first, Gapps and then the kernel?
Thanks.

Nandroid and flashing the new gapps worked for me.

What is the point of flashing new gapps? Unless you do clean installation of a ROM or a ROM update which needs of gapps reflash you will already have up-to-date versions of programs

Sorry for the incorrect area for posting.
My thought process for asking was because I thought I could just update the GAPPS file since the ROM that I am using is the latest Rootbox (3.8) using 4.2.2 JB.
I'll stick with my the currently installed gapps-jb020121212-signed.zip. GooManager notified me that 20130301-signed.zip was available.

Thank you for Your help.
Flash gapps after flashing the ROM. If the ROM is a Android 4.2 then you will need 4.2 gapps

The first part is normal but the second isn't. Maps, Gmail etc isn't included with gapps.
Are you using a different dpi than others?

These gapps have old market thats why i'm searching for gapps with latest market coz i install gb roms alot.
EDIT: HERE IS THE DOWNLOAD LINK FOR LATEST GB GAPPS http://www.mediafire.com/?oaat2e5a939a2vf
Re: [Q] latest GB gapps ?
Get gapps from Rom Manager. But it could just be it needs to update and if it doesn't then just Google, Google play store.apk and install it. That's what I used to do when that happened to me.

CM 10.1 RC5 install question

Right now I'm running rooted TW and was planning on installing RC4 but RC5 dropped before I got a chance. Being a wary person I've given it a few days to see if there's any major issues. From what I can tell, to get the best results, I should install RC4 then RC5 or should I only do it if I have issues.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
I clean flashed RC5 and haven't run into any problems.
Just flash RC5 straight off the bat. Its built into the script to wipe /system, so it won't matter if you flash RC4 first anyway.
Yea reading back on a lot of the posts i realized a lot of them mentioned they used twrp and i use cwm. Not sure if that matters but I always hear cwm is better.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Yeah, just install it clean off, I don't think there are very many serious differences between TWRP and CWM, at least not any that will ruin your Cyanogenmod install. Remember to flash the Gapps, I forgot my first time on AOSP.
Why is it necessary to install Gapps? In what order do you flash Gapps before installing Cyanogenmod or after. And were can I find it for my phone sph-L710.
Thank you.

Usually where ever you find your aosp rom they usually provide a link to the gapps download. You will flash the rom and right after flash the gapps then reboot.
If there's no gapps download link just Google search gapps you will find the goo download page with all the gapps for the different systems, make sure you select what you need.
The only roms you need to flash gapps with are aosp style roms because they are not licensed to carry the google apps.

I'll probably flash one of the latest nightlies, I'm not a power flasher so l've been reading the forms religiously in an attempt not to brick another phone.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Go for it, the nightlies are really quite stable, usually. Just read the posts to the thread for it to see if there are any serious bugs, chances are other people will have flashed it before you and posted their problems. Even then, most of the problems are just bugs that are usually tolerable, at the most minor inconveniences.
RC5 is running very nice for me, so far I've found no bugs and everything seems to be working.

[Q] About modding the Kernel of my N7105

Hi to everyone,
I've recently installed the nightly CM 10.2 on my Galaxy Note 2 LTE (N7105 - t0lte) but I have a couple questions about the kernels.
I'm thinking about flashing a custom kernel like the NEAK on my device and here my doubs:
-) I found 2 version of the NEAK kernel pakage; the 2.1x CM10.1 & Derivates Zip and Tar. So which one is the appropriete for my device?
-) And the "CM10.1" means that is not yet compatible with the new 10.2 version of the CynogenMod?
-) Last but not the least, if I flash this or any other custom kernel how can I go back to the STOCK Kernel? I cannot find any backup stock kernel package to flash it back so the stock kernel is only inside the stock ROM?
Thanks a lot for all the help and for the amazing board
Nobody can help me with those noob question?
Please

I'm sorry to keep repeating but I really need some advice to this kernel stuff.
