So after I rooted my HTC one v, I Went crazy flashing different roms and kernels. Everything was all good until my data was disconnecting from the network..so now I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out the solution.so I went on the virgin mobile USA site, logged in my account, went to the lost phone section and disconnected my service then put it back on again.minutes later vm tells you your data is back on.and then out of nowhere my data connects to my network!!!!! I was so happy! Lol I hope this method works for yall
I believe this works on the CDMA phones, because the network can push the proper data to the phone.
On the GSM/Sim Card equipped models, you have to do the following:
Settings -> Mobile Network Settings -> Access Point Names -> Menu -> New APN
Google for your network providers 'APN settings' then insert the settings into the form, when done save, you may have to make several as some operators have different APNs for MMS, Data, and Tethering.
Settings -> Mobile Network -> Network Operators
Choose your preferred network operator. The network you put the APNs in for should show up with a Star instead of the standard circle.
After doing these, you should power down the phone, wait a minute, then turn it back on. After the boot up process, it may take between 10 to 20 minutes for the network to handshake with the new APN settings.

Did you have to call VM to turn your phone service back on? My Data has been not working for over a week now and they can't figure out why. I was gonna try this method but not if it means dealing with "customer care" again.

Actually you don't. You can just deactivate and reactivate your service from the site without customer service.I've seen your post on the extreme Rom and a week later the same situation happened to me as well. It's definitely a weird data connection issue.if replacing your phone didn't work and my trick didn't work then try my method again because I was just in your situation.

Ok. Tried it. I saw the one of the links on the resulting page after clicking OK takes you from accountsuspend.do to accountunsuspend.do and did that and it said service was turned back on. Did you get a text message or email or something saying everything was back on? Just curious how long I should wait before checking network again?

My mobile network would connect (or at least say it would?) I mean messages and voice worked fine just not data unless I was connected to WiFi.
I haven't received a message yet, but I waited about 10 minutes.... and OMFG it works! LOL
I can't believe whatever the issue is that doing this fixes persisted over to the replacement phone and that they can't even figure this one out. I even mentioned this method to the "support" person when I called them after my replacement phone didn't work and they didn't seem to think anything of it. I only wish I could've done this before I requested my replacement.
So yeah, totally works, and thanks.

Well this seems to be a temporary fix. I unlocked the bootloader and flashed TWRP and then SuperSU and then upon reboot I didn't have data over the mobile network again. I guess I'll wait and see what VM says when they call me back. With as often as I'm messing with my phone I really don't want to be suspending my service once a week.

I can, cause it was temporary in my case.
If I get bored later I'll run it again and let the phone completely boot in between steps and see when it actually drops.
Last time I did unlock, flash recovery, install SuperSU all at once.
Oh btw, never did get a message about data (probably cause it stopped working again) but I did finally get one 7.5 hours after turning services back on that "Your phone will now make calls again." LOL
So is it just me or is this weird....
My phone is still having issues so I did the trick again and suspended my account. BUT I haven't re-enabled it and my data is working....
I tried making a call (just to make sure I couldn't) but saw the3G activity light blinking for both Tx and Rx and was like "Hmm..." so opened play store and all the missing images loaded. Hit the magazines section (which I never go into) to see what happens and all those images load too. Head to the music section and preview the free song of the day and it streamed perfectly.
So, is it just me or is it weird that my data instantly works when I suspend my account? I realize Virgin Mobile has unlimited data, but it seems if you're gonna suspend the account by doing the Lost/Stolen option that the data shouldn't work either, not just the voice.
And more importantly, what is going on with my phone that I can't have working data service and voice service at the same time?!?
So yeah time for the fun to start...gonna re-enable service and wait for the messages about everything being restored before I mess with the phone, and also fully boot in between unlocking, flashing TWRP, and rooting this time to see if/when I lose data again. Also just gonna simply reboot and see if that kills it too. So....fingers crossed....
EDIT: So no luck, after about 2 hours from when I turned service back on it stopped working again
Didn't even do anything to it, just left it alone. Also, this time it took about 11 hours for the message about my phone being able to make calls again to come through.

I just had the same issue... 3g would connect but no data going through. Texts and phone calls worked fine. After about an hour call with "phone support" including a transfer to an "actual tech" I was given a ticket number and told this would be transferred to the corporate office. And get a response in 3 to 5 business days... by Wednesday. (in my experience this has never been the case)
I tried your solution of "Lost my phone" and deactivating it and literally within a minute I was getting my emails and "New Items" from a couple of apps i have installed. I never get a message about it being deactivated. About 10 minutes after I reactivated my account (I had to log out and wait about 5 minutes before it would let me reactivate) I got a text saying your phone will now make calls again.
THANKS TONS. This has been driving me nuts for the last 2 days since it started.
BTW, both "Techs" did very little troubleshooting. The most the 2nd did was go to My account, and click on "I need Help" which starts a self diagnostic to check the phone and data connectivity. Then as he was on the phone for about 10 minutes waiting for it to finish he tried to blame it on a outage in my area.... which i asked why as my wife has the exact same phone (the HTC Evo V) and she has no issues when she was sitting 5 feet from me then. He was kinda stumped.
The diagnostics also gives a link to call Virgin Mobile, and more diagnostics below that. Actually pretty decent since it has some basic diagnostics all in once place, to test phone, data, and battery issues.
Again Thanks a TON.

Let me start this question with a big thanks to all the developers/etc. out there. The work being done is AMAZING!
I am a new "rooter", but learning fast. I am running Cyanoginger 1.1 on my MT3GS. I have noticed a few things that aren't quite right, and I am unsure if they are related to each other, or to Cm 6.1.1, or ~ginger 1.1, or...
1. Incoming phone calls seem to sporadically go to voicemail instead of the phone. My phone can be sitting on my desk with full bars, I'll call my phone from my desk, it'll ring once or twice and jump to voicemail (nothing shows up on the MyTouch). I'll call again 10 seconds later, and it goes to my phone. Very sporadic (maybe 1 in 20 calls?)
2. My phone number shows Unknown in Settings > About phone > Status. I read in a few forums that this may be the case untill you place/receive a call, but mine is still showing unknown.
3. My market purchases are no longer integrated with carrier billing. It's asking for a credit card instead of automatically billing me at T-Mobile.
Like I said, I'm a noob at rooting/modding, but I learn quick Any help with these issues would be greatly appreciated!

The unknown number thing has to do with cm6.1.1. It shouldn't affect you anyway. For the first issue, probably t-mobile issue, neither your phone nor your ROM. Happens to me on all my phones, even my dumbphones.
The market thing is something that you give up when you flash a custom ROM. I think there might be something that can tie market to your tmobile account, but I can't find it again, it was mentioned in a thread recently.
Thanks for the quick response!
On points 2 and 3, I guess that's just the way it is. Little things, I can definitely deal.
On the first point, I just want to make sure this isn't happening because of how I flashed new roms, or how I upgraded the radio, etc.
FWIW, here's the process I used:
- rooted phone with adb/file copy, etc., etc.
- booted to ESPRIMG.zip (oops, rebooted, no backup of system!)
- booted to Clockwork
- cleared data, cleared cache, flashed CM 6.1.1, flashed gapps, rebooted
- went back to clockwork flashed radio from 7.07.(????) directly to 7.09.35.10, rebooted
- "stumbled" across Cyanoginger 1.1...
- booted to Clockwork, cleared data, cleared cache, flashed to Cyanoginger 1.1
The phone prior to rooting never had any issues receiving calls, but who knows, maybe it's because I'm staring at it, maybe it's solar flares, maybe I've angered the cell phone gods...ok, humor's "off" a bit today
If you have any further thoughts, let me know; otherwise thanks for your help! I really appreciate it!
Yeah that all sounds right. I haven't ever had issues with my phone number showing up, it seems to only happen to some people, and like you said, normally it goes away after placing or receiving a call. Who knows. I don't think it affects any apps though. I could be wrong about that, not sure. It might be your sim card, which would explain some calls not going through as well.
I know there is a way to tie the market to your t-mobile account, I just can't remember at the moment. I googled around, couldn't find anything. I think it's called market fix or something rather. I could be thinking of something else though. Frankly I like paying with my debit card better, it was never a huge deal for me, so I never thought too much into it.

I know exactly what you're talking about... I just can't seem to find it either. It was in a thread recently, like you said.
Maybe it's just vanished
I'm gonna keep searching though.
EDIT: So I was starting to flip out, cause I could not for the life of me find the thread...
But I decided to go to my phone and see if maybe I could just find the app in the market. Then I saw that I had already searched for it before, because I actually have the same issue. I just never downloaded it and tested it out.
It's called "Market Enabler"
I'm going to download it now and test it myself.
EDIT 2: Or maybe that's not it. I don't know, I can't seem to figure it out. Maybe MusicMan can take a look? I could have sworn this was an app suggested for that, but it just looks like it makes it so you can see apps that aren't on certain carriers.

Well, I "stumbled" across the solution to #2. As far as I've heard from others so far, it's purely cosmetic, but...
Go to Settings > Call Settings > Additional Settings > My phone number and enter the number. Now when you go to Settings > About phone > Status it will show the number you entered.
Again, this may be purely cosmetic, and I've noticed if you reboot, the setting gets wiped. Strange...but there you go...
Sorry to bring up this issue back up but I just recently Rooted my phone as well and am having the same problem with sporadic calls not coming to my phone.
For example, last night my father told me that he tried to call me at least 3 times in a row and it would go straight to voicemail, however today he called me (like 2 mins ago) and the phone rang as normal. Heres what I've noticed on the phone:
-the phone will drop all bars sporadically for no apparent reason, as I have never had any service issues in my house.
-it does this when its been idle for a couple of minutes and as soon as I wake it up it will show 0 bars then jump to the normal 2-3 I usually get at my place.
-whenever the bars drop to 0 my 3g/HSPA service will still show as normal
I'm not completely new to Rooting (Rooted my original G1), however my last experience with it was back on CM4.1 on my G1, so there may be a o couple of things I missed
Thanks in advance for any help!
Hi, I've a similar problem: on outgoing calls anyone on any phone is able to see my number, they always get calls from "unknown" from my phone. I use wolfbreak's rom with cyanogen and I've allready set in the settings the option to show my number on outgoing calls, but doesn't work. how can I do?

Ok guys, been a long battle. I spent a combined four and a half hours on the phone with sprint yesterday morning. We did soft resets, hard resets. We checked ESN and other numbers I didn't know existed. We checked towers as well.
And after all this, I still have issues making calls. When I go to make a call at home, it automatically disconnects even though I have full bars and my data is working. I also cannot receive calls, as everyone texts me saying that it is going straight to voice mail. I only really go three places.(work, home, gf's place) The problem occurs at both my place and work. However, it doesn't seem to happen when I am on the road, and it only happens sometimes at my gf's.
I took the phone to Sprint with a ticket number given to me by a second tier manager? The sprint store rebooted my phone a few times, tried to make a few calls. Of course it works. So their rule is, if they cannot replicate the problem, they cannot help.
So I guess I am asking what you guys would do. The only two option I see are:
1. Buy a used EVO and finish out my contract(14months) hoping nothing goes wrong with it.
2. Take the early penalty, close my account and go to Verizon like the rest of my friends whose GPS's and calling "just work".
I would hate to leave sprint cause they have the best unlimited deal out there. But this is the second "top of the line" phone I have bought with them that has been a disaster. And both of them seemed to work flawlessly for the first couple months I had them.
By the way, I am on stock EC05, and I have been ever since it EC05 came out. I am not rooted or anything. It was working fine till about Friday.
Do you have TEP?
Wow, try taking out the sd card and use the phone to make a call. SD cards can make the phone do some funky things. If that works; then put it back in, connect the phone to your computer, copy all the contents to your computer; format the sd card and copy the contents back to the sd card.
change to sprint only network (settings - wireless networks - mobile networks - system select .. choose sprint only)
uninstall app 3rd party applications; perhaps something running is the culprit
If still no joy; I would root it and try a custom ROM. Maybe a file got corrupted at some point and that is causing the disconnections.
I really like the one I am on, its worked beautifully.
I'd be happy to help you through the root process if it gets to that point.
Good luck
It doesn't matter whether I have it or not, they rebooted the phone, brought up the dialer, made one call(he might have made two, one of the other people was talking to me) and sent me on my way. If they can't replicate the problem, then their policy is to not do anything. I even asked them if I could make a video of it first hand when I get home, and they basically said that won't change anything cause they have to be able to replicate the problem first hand.

I will try SD card when I get home. I don't have any third party apps, as the technician on the phone hard reset my phone like 3 times. I tried every custom rom, and I even tried to go back to DI18. All of them had the same problem, so I am guessing it is hardware related. Again, data is working correctly, just seems to be something with the calling hardware.

If you have TEP - don't even bother with taking to the store any longer. Just complain enough over the phone and you should be able to get someone to send you a new one.

Unfortunately I cannot really wait for them to send me a phone. I need to get something today, as this phone is also my work phone. Customers do not like going straight to my voicemail :/
After a tech on the phone with Sprint screwed my phone up even worse, had me stuck in an activation loop. He told me to bring it to a Sprint store. Well this was at night so I Odin'd to stock DI18 and let it do the OTA and that cleared up the loop. It may work for you and save you grief.

I've heard of similar things. I helped someone troubleshoot the problem and came up with it had to be the tower. They called again to customer service and of course they said that nothing is wrong with the tower. I think that they called again to make a report to check out the tower near their house. They did that a few times. I don't know how long it took to fix the situation. I do notice lately that, even though signal strength was okay before, it's better now.
If you have another sprint phone, if you activate it, does it do the same thing? This might be one of those instances that if you complain enough, maybe they might give you one of those devices they have (I forgot what it's called) that you hook up to your home internet and it acts like a mini tower at home. I've heard of stories that after enough complaining enough, they'll just give you one. If the phone still does it then it's the phone that's flaky.
When you talk to someone, make it clear you use this phone for work and if people can't reach you, you will lose clients. If you start losing clients because of this then you will be forced to go to another carrier. If they say you'll have to pay etf then tell them you won't because it isn't your fault that you can't make or receive calls at work and home.
This phone or their equipment or service isn't working properly and you're losing customers because of this.
Here's another idea. Find someone else that has sprint. Have them go by your work and home and see if they can send or receive calls. If they can then its your phone, if they can't then it's the towers.

Man, I'd be flippin out if it were me. That has got to SUCK!!
I just got my Note 2 five days ago. If I don't turn on the screen, or use the phone in any way, I can maybe get 18 hours of battery life. The battery option shows almost all usage by Android OS. Keep Wake duration is whatever time has passed since the last full charge.
I dug a little deeper and it seems that it is "rilprocess" that is calling a full wake state. At least that was the process that appeared in the list of the app I used. Under it were 20-30 sub processes. This would seem to make sense as the phone seems to transfer data over WiFi or Mobile Data (if WiFi is disabled) constantly at a rate of 1-2KB/sec. If I disable both WiFi and Mobile Data, the problem goes away. Obviously this isn't a solution though. If I'm going to forgo data usage, what's the point of a smartphone?
Here's the kicker: This is still and issue after a full factory restore. I entered as much as I needed to get to the home screen. The only app I downloaded was Battery Stats Plus. Again, there are NO USER INSTALLED APPS! It's not something I installed. When I first noticed the issue I systematically uninstalled every application I could. I then went through the settings and disabled every bell and whistle I could (including backing up phone data to Google and any syncing). In fact I went so far as to delete my GMail account from the phone entirely. No e-mail, no messaging. Nothing. Still the issue persists. Then I did the factory reset as I said before, to see if the problem persisted. It did.
Does anyone have a suggestion? I am thinking at this point it may be a hardware problem, or else everybody with this phone from my provider would be experiencing the same problems, right? So perhaps have the phone replaced and hope it's a faulty radio? I tried to trace the outgoing data but couldn't. Even packet sniffers detected nothing. I am at a loss.
Edit: This should probably be in the general Note 2 forum. I am not with Sprint, I am with Bell Mobility.
Ril has to do with the network so it could be that your device isnt fully activated causing it to continuously poll the activation Site used by hands free activation. If you still have your MSL from when you activated the device you can go to settings> about phone> status and write down your # and MIN. Then dial ##786# and reset using the MSL then once it reboots dial ##72786# > select edit> enter MSL> manually enter your # and MIN and reboot. This will re provision the phone on the network and solve any incomplete activation issues.

This is the best suggestion I have read so far. It does make sense. In fact now that you mention it, when I use the self service app and try to look at my plan it says "No Data Available" and tells me my monthly bill is 0 dollars. I asked my provider about this and they told me it would update on its own, but it's been a couple of days and I just checked again, sure enough, no data showing under my service plan.
Can I have technical support re-provision over the phone? It's not that I can't follow your instructions, but I pay a lot of money to these guys for cellular service, and if it's their problem, I think they ought to solve it.
Thanks again for the reply. You have taken me from no hope of a solution at all to some hope that I might get this resolved.

Yes they can do it. Call in and say something like "I'm having trouble connecting to the Internet and phone calls. I've tried updating the PRL and Profile (if its a cdma device which im assuming cuz gsm provisions by pulling sim and replacing it) and a factory reset and I keep getting an error message. A few times when I've tried to make calls immediately after the data error I'll get a message that tells me my device is not activated and to call customer support. Can you please help me?" Then they will give you your MSL and walk you through the same or similar steps I listed above. Just make sure you call from a different phone cuz they'll want you to do everything while your on the phone with them to make sure its resolved.

Well I just got off the phone with technical support who assures me that every phone on their network that received the 4.1.2 update is experiencing the same issue, and that it has to do with the phone connecting to LTE. Of course when I disable mobile data and use only WiFi, it does the exact same thing. I feel like I got the run around. I'm just going to return the thing tomorrow and have my old 3GS reprovisioned. Maybe when Android OS 5 comes out it's not an issue any more and I can buy the newest gen phone then.
Thanks a ton for your help! Stymied by technical support!

Have you tried setting your mobile network to cdma only to see if disabling lte fixes it? I can get 20hrs with 7hrs screen on on mine consistently. I have 2 batteries I swap out when I wake up. I go to bed with 30% wake up about 28% and use it til 15% then change rinse and repeat. And during the day my screen is on almost constantly.

Well the guy reprovisioned the data connection, and now if I disable WiFi it seems to sleep properly, and the orange downstream arrow doesn't continuously flash every second like it did. But if I turn on WiFi it refuses to sleep again, and that steady data tick is back. And the RIL interface has been replaced by com.test.LTETestModeSetting, which says "Full wakelock 2d 3h 33m". Does the wake lock apply only to the process calling it, or is it a global thing?
I have been trying to figure out what's going on the this battery problems I have as well it seems if I reboot my phone one time it will be great than the next horrible I have better battery stat and nothing out of the ordinary from what i can see just the audio wake lock but that's only killing like 45 mim battery ever 17 hrs so i guess that's good. When i talked to Sprint yesterday the guy at the store said they were working I'm a update ot will still be 4.1.2 but he said should improve data lte connection and battery who knows though I hope he knows what he is talking about

Well I had my phone replaced, and that seems to have solved the problem. The only outstanding issue at this point is that WiFi constantly ticks when its enabled. I have read some things about 2.4ghz versus 5ghz networks, and I will look into that. I have 2 routers. One has the issue, the other has the issue plus authentication issues. At any rate, I just set the phone to shut off WiFi when sleeping, and that allows me to live with it. Hopefully the issue goes away with the next update.
Ladies and gentlemen of XDA, I have come before you today to admit to my defeat.
I have scoured the internet and tried all kinds of fixes and such and still no luck. So hopefully someone here can help me figure out what I'm missing.
I rooted both my husband's and my G955u. Both of our phones took the root well and were performing spectacularly. Then, randomly one day, something went glitchy with my phone. For some reason or another, I ended up putting the phone in airplane mode. For the life of me I can't remember why. The airplane mode icon would not turn back off. I turned the phone off and back on. Each time, I see the signal connection icon at the top, but there are no bars filling it. I cannot call, text, or use data unless I am connected to wifi.
I unrooted and flashed back to stock. No fix. I applied other root methods. Still no fix. Factory reset, cleared cache, took sim card out. Still nothing. Sim card works fine in other devices and no sim card will work in my phone. I have flashed each and every stock (2bqk5, 2bql1, 2brb1) with no luck. Took it all the way back down to 2bqk5 and allowed ota updates all the way to 2brb1. Still nothing.
Had an error for a while that when I entered recovery mode, it would either show no command or error followed by a screen saying that it had failed to unmount my EFS. That screen isn't showing up anymore, so I somehow fixed that. My IMEI and SN are both showing and are both correct. Phone network shows unknown. Mobile network shows state as connected. Mobile network type shows as IWLAN. Not Roaming, IMS registration status is on.
I have tried to flash the combined tar file of the modem and the Nonhlos.bin I extracted from my stock bql1 files. Flashed through Odin, still no fix.
I am at a total and complete loss. I don't know what else to try. Husband's root is still intact and working great. Can anyone help a noob figure out what I haven't done yet? I'm sure I'm missing something stupidly obvious. Any and all help is greatly appreciated and stories of your epicness will be told by my children's children of the time I was saved from the purgatory that is no cell service by the heroes of XDA.

Was just about to post about this, I too have been experiencing those issues, difference is my phone has not been rooted. Has the issue completely resolved?
Yes. That completely fixed my issues. You may not have to root to fix the issue if you can find the right secret code to access the service mode menu. But once the nv was restored, all was golden.
This is the screen you need to get to.
wow you went through all those downloads and flashes !
This was my first time ever rooting. I had no idea what I was doing or what exactly I needed to fix it I just knew I was pissed to high heaven and refusing to pay 200 for the replacement phone they said I needed.
Originally, geek squad tried to say that I had a chip failure due to the mipi device fail that showed up on menu *#0011#. But I didn't buy it. Turns out it wasn't a hardware issue. Just the NV data being a butt. Saved me 200 bucks. I'll take 50 million menus, flashes, and downloads over that anyway. That's what unlimited data and pdanet hotspot tether is for.
What did the menu have in it? I'm having a similar problem with not connecting to the network (unroot), but on my Galaxy S7. I've tried a million things, only to find out the "MIPI DEVICE FAILED".

I have the exact same issue on my S8+, MIPI device fail and can't get any network signal. On xfinity mobile here. I can't get that menu you're talking about, I downloaded Shortcut master and launch the menu you mentioned in your first post but it won't launch. Do I have to be rooted? Please help!
Mipi device failed. change the charging port and maybe it solves it. it has happened to me with a s7 and a note 8 and I have solved it by changing the loading port

Hey All, Greetings from Australia.
I am facing some serious issues with my Pixel 6 Pro (well my 2nd brand new device). Looks like I have found a bug which causes the phone to enter a boot loop with no way to fix it. see below steps.
I have done the initial setup on the phone, entered my google account details, phone did its restore thing with no issues.
I activated my eSim service on the device, that seemed to work with no issues (data & calls working as should)
When entering the Call Settings via the Phone App, it immediately crashed, and displayed a Factory Data Reset screen.
It then displayed a recovery screen saying the OS is corrupt, and to perform a factory reset, when attempting this again, it will display multiple errors and continue to restart the phone and prompt for another factory reset
Not sure if the above makes sense, however this seems to be a serious flaw/bug with the new phone/OS, I've attached some pictures for reference and can provide a video of the boot loops.
To repeat, this is my 2nd Pixel 6 Pro device and the first phone was refunded due to the same above issue.
Has anyone experienced this behaviour before, as the phone is still relevantly new, I'm struggling.
Google Support are being absolutely useless thus far.
Looking at the attached video, you can see the eSim service turning off and on, IMO it seems that the eSim component / hardware on the phone is corrupt.
Troubleshooting Steps Perforemed.
1. Performed Full Factory Reset in recovery menu attached
2. Performed a full flash of the Factory Image using the Online Flash Tool - https://source.android.com/setup/contribute/flash
3. I have attempted Erasing the eSim in the Reset Menu, however this does absolutely nothing.
Thoughts??

I just tried to recreate this and I did not get a crash. I'm also using an eSim. Its a weird bug for sure. Maybe it has to do with your carriers eSim. I'm using Google Fi.
Edit*
Just watched your video, that's crazy. Looks like a defective unit in my opinion, but what are the chances you got 2 of them. Have you tried setting it up on wifi, do app updates, then activate service?

Hey eg1122
Thanks for attempting to replicate this , I would have felt horrible if you encountered the same issue, but thankfully not.
This definitely seems to be an issue with both my Carrier and eSim provisioning on the device.
To confirm, the behaviour was identical with both phones
Only solution I can think of is a physical sim card, at least until your carrier and/or Google fix it.

This just happened to me....aaaarrrrggg...now dealing with google support. Did you ever find a solution? I am with Telstra...so frustrating.
Update: Went to Telstra got a replacement physical sim and phone is back to working as it should...no more esim's for me. I hope this helps someone else.

No solution unfortunately, I just gave up on the idea of an e-sim
Not sure how this happened I had used call forwarding before with no issue but this time it was a PITA! I spent a couple of hours with google support and they couldn't help, a replacement was the option they provided.
The physical sim is the fix, I am not sure if you have to use the one that is associated with the eSim account (I did it worked) however I think it just needs a different sim to the eSim to use as set up. When setting up make sure you use the physical sim, not the eSim otherwise back to the boot loop. Once you get the phone set up go to Settings/System/Reset Options/Reset wifi, Mobile and Bluetooth then check the Erase downloaded SIMs, this will remove the problem.
I hope this helps someone else as it was a pain to reset and all the time lost when it was a pretty simple solution to fix....well as long as you have a physical sim handy!
Did you try the dialer commands for call forwarding?

I used Phone/Settings/Calls/Call Fowarding.
I had major issues with this. Everything was working ok until i turned on call forwarding which sent the phone into a bootloop as above. I needed to insert a physical sim to get through the factory reset as it hung onto the esim otherwise and went back into another bootloop. Once the factory reset was done, i did another with sim data erase checked - and then when back up and running re-added the Telstra esim.
Whilst things where partially working i still had issues. I noticed that navigating to "Phone -> Settings -> Calling accounts" would crash the phone app.
I also noticed that the Telstra esim appeared as "null" in some places as it was unnamed. I gave the esim a name and now everything is working fine - i can access the Calling accounts menu.
Maybe the blank name causes the issues? This was on a Pixel 6 (not pro)

Sorry to hear about this, I know how frustrating this is. This issue did not go away for me, had ongoing issues, Ended up having to contact google support and they replaced the phone, haven't gone back to esim since. Good luck.
