I can flash root66 L900vpalj1 although this in stock 4.1.2 rom on my sprint galaxy note II ?
Odin VJC
Take the OTA to MA7
Flash garwynns rooted one click MA7, preferably no data.
It's what I did, that way you get the MA7 modem with no issues and never trigger a triangle.
It's LJC and you don't need to do all that. Just flash garwynns oneclick rooted MA7 full restore, flash twrp thru goomanager then flash the MA7 modem in twrp and you're done. You'll be on completely stock rooted MA7 just like you took the OTA and rooted it. Back up your internal storage to your PC before flashing the one click as it will get wiped, after you're set up transfer your pics, vids, music and other personal files back. But only your stuff, there's no need to restore all of the Android files as they will restore themselves on first boot.
I like to break stuff!

So...
I have backed up and sync'ed all my data, so data loss is not a concern
I am currently running stock rooted L710VPLG8, with the bloat removed
I have installed and configured OTA root keeper
I have mobile ODIN installed
I also have ODIN installed on my XP laptop and a good cable to use
I am looking to update to the OTA version of stock, rooted JB, and I will be able to finalize the setup from there.
I dont care if I have to resetup everything or reinstall my apps, all I need to get back to where I want to go, is backed up.
I feel that a full wipe and reset would be the best way by far, and plan on a factory reset before I start, just to be sure I am moving forward with as clear a base as possible (but kinda doubt it is needed if I use ODIN from my PC.)
So, is it easiest to just ODIN the OTA tar and reroot, or can I just copy the OTA file to the SD card and use Mobile ODIN?
I have the basic of using the tools down, just looking for a tip on how to
a) get a clean build to start off on
b) move to the official stock JB build
c) end up with root access after updating (dont care about counter in firmware)
I downloaded and extracted the file from odin-tar combination_l710vpblj7 Jelly Bean, is there a better version to use with Mobile ODIN, if that is preferred?
Is QBKing's vid the best route for my given setup?
Best to go back to 100% stock, do the OTA, and reroot?
I don't think there's a JB OTA from Sprint yet. So far these JB ROMs are based on leaks.
In any case, doing a factory reset/wipe from your custom recovery should suffice. You don't need to unroot/wipe/reroot.
Going to dl the rooted non-data wipe from: from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1941546
Sounds like this will get me all I am looking for, and w/o a data wipe.
If that doesnt take, gonna try the one that wipe everything.

Wrong lol. In general theres like 3 different topics containing the JB OTA update. I used it on Thursday to update from LI3.
And OP, just unroot, if your on lg8 after the unroot stock, go download the lg8 to li3 ota, boot into recovery, install via external storage. After that completes download the li3 to LJ7, and do the same thing and you will be there.
The JB OTA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1956618
and just search for the lg8 to li3 ota zip

Hi,
I recently bought the Samsung Galaxy S3 on T-Mobile, to replace my Motorola Droid X on Verizon. Love the new phone, but miss my root capabilities - aka there's a bunch of bloat. There's an OTA not being forced for 4.1.1, but when I tried to root that, I soft bricked and got stuck in a boot loop at the pulsing Samsung. I grabbed ODIN and was able to push the stock 4.0.4 back into it and get it working again, baseband T999UVLH2, Kernel 3.0.8-925100, build IMM76D.T999UVALH2. Is there a way to root this phone, or a stock rooted ROM I could push up with ODIN?
I'm not looking to load custom ROM's, just have some of the abilities I had on my DX when it was rooted and get rid of some of the stock crap that I don't need.
I originally tried to do this with Samsung Galaxy S3 Toolkit v6.0, and soft bricked the phone. I followed the directions online, and did it as instructed, but yeah. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
All you need to root is the touch 6.0 clockwork mod recovery tar file which is available on xda as zip file and the odin version 3+ and follow instructions thats all thats needed to root, make sure you also put the superuser app inside the root of your sd card meaning connect your galaxy s3 to computer then open the root sd card and put it inside there, i believe there is a clockwordmod touch that already comes with superuser so you may not have to worry about putting superuser in root. here i'll grab links for you now. u dont checkmark anything on odin except select pda and browse for the tar file. Here is guide for your device with download links.
The clockworkmod touch recovery version is by far best and always works well with almost all roms.
I would also recomend you use liquidsmooth rom or if you want to test out the new android 4.2 cm but camera doesn't work on 4.2 cm10.1 now however it's a very nice custom rom
Btw, make sure you flash the superuser.zip file that you placed in your sd card while you are in clockwork mod recovery otherwise you wont comlete the root. to get into cwm you gotta hold volume up home button and power button at same time.

Just flash the root66 udljva file and it is just pure stock prerooted. Just follow the doc's instructions and all will be good.

Thanks to both of you, I'm rooted, exactly the way I wanted to be. I couldn't get CWM to flash in stock recovery, nor could I get Root66 to flash in recovery, so I just pushed it with Odin. All I need to do now is get CWM Touch on it, and I'll be set. I'm reinstalling my root apps as we speak.
Thanks again!
Odin cf auto root is the quickest and simplest.

Flash cwm via Odin uncheck auto reboot. Then go straight to recovery then reboot. I'd wipe cache and dalvik while in there though.

[RECOVERY]TWRP 2.3.1.0 touch recovery [2012-10-15]
Over the past year the software on my Sprint Note 2 has become a hairy garbled mess. I don't think any part of the system is untainted:
Nonstandard bootloader
Nonstandard recovery
Non-stock `rom' (not sure what part of the system
Flash counter is nonzero
Settings says the phone is modified
How do I get the software back to how it would be if I had bought the device new today?
I just downloaded the latest firmware for my phone from this site: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ Will flashing this zip file to my device via Odin work?
This is the stock 4.3 image for use in Odin http://www.mediafire.com/download/7viivd985s7cp8l/L900VPUBMK4_L900SPTBMK4_HOME.tar.zip

Thanks for the download link, but I've basically got the same goal in mind...I wanna make sure anything and everything is removed as if it's fresh from the box and be able to start from a clean slate before I reroot, install TrevE Mod so I can tether and then be back in business as before.
If you still want to used the dated WiFi tether third party app, then you want to stay on MC2. It won't work on MK4. If you've already gone to MK4 there's a thread out there that has the files to flash in recovery to go back to MC2.
BEFORE UPDATING TO MK4 I'd suggest using triangle away. Reset the flash counter, and then flash the MK4 firmware. This will give you the latest stock (knox) bootloader, latest stock recovery, and latest system.

What are you referring to as a dated Wifi tethering app? I was using TrevE Mod and it worked great. Is there another tethering app that is somehow better in terms of being faster or something?
I'm not worried about warranty, so what does Triangle Away do for me beyond warranty purposes? Does installing ROM's matter is I've got a count of 2 for example? Right now I'm on MC2, so why flash to MK4 just to flash back to MC2 again? Isn't KNOX a bad thing to have?

ecs87 probably assumed you were on MK4. If you're back on MC2 then no need to go to MK4 and back obviously.
If you already have a custom recovery, this should take you back to stock unrooted virginal state. It's what i always use. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086769
Currently I am using Sprint's Galaxy Note II SPH-L900 with stock 4.1.2 (MC2) rooted with TWRP installed.
I have been prompted for the new OTA of 4.3. I would like to keep Root and TWRP and update to 4.3. What is the easiest way? Is there a ROM I should use?
I was on stock rooted MC2 like you and I also have TWRP recovery. I simply flashed LorJay's rooted MK4 ROM and I've had zero issues. I decided to try without reverting back to stock un rooted and it worked just fine. I'm not sure why there's a need to un root first... my MK4 ROM flash perfectly and root has never failed. I'd do a nandroid backup first and then decide how you want to go about it from there. Read LorJay's thread in development forum. You can follow his directions or do what i did. It's your choice. But don't take the ota update. When I updated to MK4 rooted ROM I wiped everything even internal storage before flashing LorJay's stock rooted MK4. I've also flashed STS MK4 ROM with no problem. You'll just need to flash the wifi fix with odin (on your pc only) before wifi & hotspot will actually work. Youll need to install odin on your pc if you havent already. Make sure you use the PDA flash button in odin when flashing the wifi fix. Also you will have to unzip the wifi fix zip file before you can use it with odin
Basically LorJay's ROM is mostly stock and STS is debloated. Both have basic and most common tweaks etc. Good luck.

thanks tx_dbs_tx...I was in the same situation. I had 4.1.2 and was rooted. I wanted to try 4.3 rom but was afraid because of the knox issue. after reading that you flashed it like any other rom I decided to flash this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582027 , and it works great. it even has note 3 spen features. I love it. if you wouldn't have tried it I would have not either because I was afraid something was going to happen to my phone. and all that unrooting stuff seemed to difficult for me. thanks again man.

With the rom you just flashed did you need to flash the wifi patch or did it just work with this ROM?

I just tried to use wifi and it doesn't work so I need to flash the wifi fix. everything else works great.
What would be the best way to start freshly rooted?
Right now I had to do a one click back to mc2 since that's all I had in my laptop and didn't have Internet (so I'm all the way back there)
Should I just use this to start updated and clean?.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2780984
[LINK][ROM][ODIN][TAR]SPH-L900 NE2 (NE2 Modem/Kernel/ROM - Stock)
And use Odin 3.07?
From there I would have root right?
Also I'm flashed to boost would flashing that interfere with anything.
Haven't used Odin (and really started over in awhile so I'm a tad bit lost)
Okay so I discovered it wouldn't be smart to do what i listed in the first post
Could I just do this:
Install Philz recovery.
Wipe as instructed
Install

[ROM][4.4.2 TW] Community Rom
Odin the WiFi patch
And Odin the ne2 bootloader?
