[Q] Default contact method based on individual contact? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Is there a way to set the default method of contact (phone or Skype) per individual person. Out of convenience, can I automatically skype one person and call another from the same phone icon? It would be handy as several contacts are international.

How to manage contacts with multiple mobile numbers?

some of my contacs have multiple mobile numbers, i.e. work, private, car mobile.....so, how can i manage them since wm6 doesn't allow me more than one mobile number for every contact. i know thta i can use inesoft address book, but using this software, once i have choosen my contact,i cannot directly send an sms to the contact, or at least i haven't understood how to.
have you got any suggestion for me.....i'm really bored with this issue, my nokia n70, symbian 3rd edition can handle multiple numbers for avery contact.....
maybe there's no answer to my question?
you cant
heck you cant even do that in Microsoft Outlook
You'll have to make multiple contacts for a single person
John 1
John 2
for each mobile number
Anyway, you'd have to manually select which mobile number to send a SMS to That'd be faster to have multiple contacts.
Otherwise, if it's just for voice call, then just put anything (house, work, etc), doesnt matter.
Try out pocket informant 8, in the contact list it will show multiple chooses, maybe it will fit your need, they have trial version so you can take it for a test spin for free .
It will take some time to get use to but the one handed operation is great to look up contacts and click to dial, blows the contact list in WM5/6 out of the water.
I have used several versions of this, very stable and works great and it will sync with outlook.

Hmmm you cant save multiple entries for the same name in SIM no matter what phone you use.
In wm all you do is create a new contact, and when you do that create the contact as outlook contact...that way you can add multiple number, email, address, etc etc...
I know how you feel; it's a pain to have several mobile numbers for one contact when you want to SMS (voice dialling is fine)
Here is how it can work while maintaining only one contact in Outlook:
- Enter additional mobile numbers in Outlook under pager, car, other (or whatever you fancy)
- When you want to create a new SMS, do NOT start typing the name directly to get auto completion, click the To: field instead (or go through Menu -> Add Recipient)
- This brings up your contact list, and you can now choose your contact and select any of his/hers numbers to send the SMS to..
Hope this helps
I'm not sure what you're aiming for exactly. WM6 has a lot of options for multiple mobile numbers, and AFAIK, Symbian S60 v3 has fewer options, at least on my N73 ME it does.
you can do this by adding the number under another option e.g. home, create new text then select contact through the contacts option rather than typing their name in the to box, you'll get the option then to choose either phone number or email address.
never tried before, i'll test it, thx for your suggestion
it is a real silly problem, in PC outlook you can add private fields, but you will not be able to synchronize it with your ppc. hope we can find a good real solution for this.

[Q] Attaching a contact to a calendar appointment

Does anyone know if it's possible to attach a contact to an appointment in the calendar?
The way the phone operates with all a persons phone calls, texts, emails & facebook updates appearing together on the contact details screen it makes sense that you should also be able to see any appointments you have with that person as well.
Ideally I would want to be able to create an appointment from the contact card or add a contact to an appointment on the calendar screen.
This would be really usefull out on the road, so when your reminder pops up it would also show you the persons phone number & address, so no need to go rooting around to find the address you need to go to.
Anyone come across a way of doing that or an app/rom to try?
If you are using Sense, you can add attendees to an appointment when making a new one. It doesn't show up on their contact card, though. It does send them an e-mail reminding of the event or a cancellation if you delete it.
Thanks Bob,
Yes did know about that but if you use that then first it sends out emails which I don't want it to do but also the list of contacts from which you can choose to add to an appointment is reduced to only those contacts with an email address. Most of my customers are non businessy low tech types so I don't have email address's for the vast majority of them & therefore can't add them.

[Q] Phone App vs. Contacts App Inconsistencies

On my LGOG, there are two apps, Phone and Contacts. In Contacts, I can use the Display option to expand the categories of contacts that are shown and I have set it to show the maximum number of contacts possible. However, in the Phone (i.e., Dialer) app, I am unable to pull up certain names under the Phone app's Contact tab (not to be confused with the separate Contact app). These names freely show in the Contacts app, but are missing from Phone. I cannot find any Display settings in the Phone app. The Contacts tab display in the Phone App says "Phone Numbers > Custom" at the top, but I cannot figure out how to change the "Custom" display.
Does anyone know how to change what contacts are displayed in the Phone (not Contacts) app?
Also, in the Phone app, the Favorites tab displays my contacts as large icons/tiles. Is there any way to make them show up in list view? Again, I see these settings in the Contacts app but not the Phone app. Very frustrating!
Thanks for your help.

Contact listing inconsistent in Groups
I have an HTC HD2. When using a MIUI ROM the contacts are listed pic then name on a single line, same in looking in Groups. When using Jellybean or ICS ROM the contacts are listed name then pic but in the Groups (when looking at contacts) they are listed two pics and names per line. Is there anyway to make the contacts in Groups as single line entries per name ? If not, could that be something to be worked on in future updates ?

[Q] Custom Ringtone/Notification sounds email contact

I have made the switch from a nice blackberry torch 9800- which I had no issue with at all. It was getting super tired and needed to be put to rest, it is grateful.
The new HTC does everything better than the torch(shocking, I KNOW!). However, there is only one thing that I could do with that BB that I cannot figure out how to do with the HTC and it is a HUGE issue for me. I need a customized alert/notification/ringtone for specific email contacts (SMS would also be nice, but not a major issue). In other words when I get an email (gmail only) from someone specific, I need the notification tone/ringer to tell me I have email from them, specifically. I really only have 3 or 4 that need to be customized.
I have several international contacts who I do not speak to on the phone (i.e. they do not call me) so, I do not have telephone numbers for them. I have Skype addresses and email addresses for them. With the BB, I added them to contacts (w or w/o a phone number) and if I received an email to my gmail account I was alerted with a specific chosen ringtone. Email that was sent from others had a generic notification tone.
Is there an app? a tweak? something I am missing? If the BB can handle this, surely Android can do the same? I have added them to my phone contacts and entered the email address in the information- chosen the specific tone for that contact. I have received emails from them and I still just get the standard default email notification sound.
thanks for your help!

[Q] Change phonebook priority

Hi, I'm wondering if I can change the phonebook priority to my gmail only, right now when I wanna send a text there are like 2 or 3 different contacts with the same number, and so the wrong name comes up everytime, this is because I have different phonebooks with different names but the same numbers (for example, my sim card, my gmail contacts, skype, etc) and for some reason the messaging app doesn't take the gmail contacts as priority even though I have it set up so it is the only phonebook that is enabled in my contact list, the rest is disabled so they don't show up. I know I can link contacts but this doesn't fix it, is there some way to fix this. I know I explaned it poorly but I hope you guys understand.
