Ridiculous battery life... - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody,
I've been reading this forum few months ago, and I finally felt the need for writing, since I am really desperate.
My battery life sucks, that's the summary. And it's been poor since long ago, but never that bad.
I am using Pacman v19.3, which I love, but I don't know if it would be a ROM bug, since I'm having battery issues since long.
I've tried calibrating, wiping stats, I'm using one power guard now... I don't know, a lot of things, and I can't find the solution, or what its causing this behaviour. Maybe my battery is dying? Every stats app says my battery health is good, but I've no idea how trustful this info is.
Any ideas?

You could order a new battery for ten dollars.

Amazon is a good place. Check the themes and app section, there are a few thread that talk about batteries... Or was it the accesory section.
Anyhow, flash a stable gb rom, if you have the same issue, then it's the battery. Wiping stats really doesn't do anything. And you can also check for the app better battery stats either in xda or the play store which some recommend, I've never used it myself.

I've used it already, and didn't help much, or maybe I'm too noob for it...
I have the stock ROM zip (by nitr00) somewhere. Can I flash that one?

just use official cyanogenmod 7.. http://get.cm/?device=ace&type=stable
But i doubt that would help much.. Maybe about 1-2 hours more.. or maybe not. The best method is like Teichopsia said, buy a new battery. Just grab whatever battery that you can get in handphone shop if you does not prefer online shopping. Even if it is not as good as mugen battery but I think it would be better than your current one.

I have exactly the same problem add you. Must be the battery...

30ma draw in standby

I have been running Desire S Port sense 2.1 Gingerbread on my Desire Z for about 5 days now and although it seems very reliable I cannot get the battery draw under 29 MA (using current widget) on standby. I have frozen most apps, tried 8 different radios, switched to GSM only and still cannot get better than 29 MA ?
I also use an inspire 4G and consistently get 1 to 3 MA while on standby.
Has anybody else worked on this with this rom? I have not tried freezing sense yet as that is one of the reasons I wanted this rom.
Any help would be appreciated.
I think your in the wrong section bro.

wrong section again this goes to question and answers, anyways 30ma during stand by is insanely good, the lowest iv seen is like 20 but that rarely happens anyways, the normal on standby is 40-30ma.

I am used to seeing 1 to 3 on my Inspire so I have been racking my brains trying to obtain the same results on this Desire Z.

New to Samsung ...which Rom should I use?

What's up everyone, new to this forum, have had my phone for a little bit now, and need some tethering for my HP tablet with android. So its time to root!
I was looking at some of the Rom's and thought I'd get some of your opinions.
I like stock, but battery life is important and speed, any suggestions?

You will want to get one eventually though. The roms are fairly large averaging 300 mb. I think I have most if not all of them stored on my external card

How much battery life do you get?

After over clocking I was just curious as to how much batter life you guys get on average so if you can please post the following:
-your ROM name
-Your kernel name
-How much you over clock to
-How much do you use your one v? (Med/high usage) and what do you use? Ex: WiFi, data
-How much hours of battery life do you get?
Thanks

I apologize for the ******* here. This is a great question, regardless of whether or not its been posted previously.
I am currently on AOKP 10/22 using jellyboot5 boot IMG. overclocked at 1.7ghz. Phones been on for 11.5 hours and has 20% left. I barely use WiFi but if I did battery would improve a little. GPS and Bluetooth are probably used three to four time a day for random things.

No. I cannot send or receive MMS on AOKP. Miui v4 works flawlessly, j might go back to that soon. Until then, I use an app called pinger that gives me a number that can send and receive MMS, so I kinda have a fully functioning AOKP rom.

I don't need these great developers help with battery drain since my SGS2 is just fine running the JB leaked base ROM's...
1. Wrong section
2. You didn't search very hard because there are already some threads about this and some methods to fix drain (works for some)
3. Did you really expect people to be nice after you failed to follow XDA rules?

I think if 8h with extreme usage has been very good. or try to change their volt battery with a size larger if you think necessary. I just do freeze app which I do not need just that and the result is quite good

70% of the battery leak is due to Modem issue. The LQ6 Modem improved a lot!
The other 30% is due to original stock ROM. Has not been customized by developers so is Samsung fault.
Since all the new features and compatibility with S3-Note2 apps, this ROM still the best available for the S2.
So basically, change the Modem, and ajust to the new batt time.
For what i tried there's no fix for the battery drain ,if you need so much of battery time I advise you to go back to your old rom and wait for the final release from Samsung and hope that they fix that.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Just stick with old stable rom....i know your feeling....only thing i care on my phone is battery.
If ya really want latest leaked rom...get a external charger ftw

Roms battery life?

I was wondering what you guys found as a good ROM was for battery life. I know everything is different for ever phone but I would like to know which ones had general success in that aspect.

I use the goodness rom and it is great and it looks really good also
And of course there is The People's ROM. I think all are good choices. I am sure a moderator will close this, so I'll say you need to just try the different ROMs and see what works best for you. Be sure to give each ROM a couple days to settle and then make your comparisons.

In reality ROMS donr set the precedence for battery life. User and kernel are the determing factors. So like stated find a Rom that works well and then start reading and learning what tweaks users are doing to elongate battery life. But by asking this question I feel I should ask why not leave your device on the stock rom?

Root it, Flash rom, Test drive to see what it's going to do for you. That's the only true way to determine. Yes, this will soon go to rest with the other threads started like it. YMMV on ANY ROM.. Stock or Not.
Flash, and try some of them! It depends on the usage! Also gotta give the ROM time to settle, and do battery cycles. The only way to find out is trying.
