Allshare while rooted - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hello I have seen a thread on this somewhere but can not find it again. Im I want to root my Note2 but I dont want to lose Allshare because I use it everyday like 3-6 times a day. Is there a way to get it to work while rooted. If so can someone please share how to with me. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Guess I didn't know there were any problems. I'm rooted and it works.

Well that's good I read somewhere that Allshare or one of the features like that didn't work while rooted.

Allshare works rooted but you need to reset the rom counter to 0 with triangle away

assuming you are rooted with a custom recovery (TWRP, CWM), it'll "never" work, the counter will always show modified (1).
but if you are Stock rooted , TA should reset it to 0, then Allshare Cast should work.
Check out ChainFires thread about his application, ask questions there.

Are you checking your count with download mode or triage away? In the TA thread the developer mentions that on some firmwares rebooting in TA will cause a count of one. He suggests resetting it with TA then using download mode to check your count.

I am rooted with TWRP and allshare works, with triangle away. A custom kernel won't allow you to use allshare even if you are able to get status to show normal and reset the count with TA.

So if I was to get the Samsung dock for the Note 2 then I would have to be completely stock to mirror my device is what you're saying? Or do you mean steaming from my phone to another AllShare enabled device like a Samsung TV?

No, not at all. I am rooted and debloated with TWRP on the stock MA7 ROM. I think any TW ROM will work as long as you keep the stock kernel and sysscope service. TriangleAway will keep your status normal, if you enable the system modified workaround in the paid version.
You can have a bunch of root apps such as TiBackup, AFWall+, etc; custom recovery; and remove most of the bloat. A custom kernel deactivates screen sharing; so no OC/UV or init.d support.

So the Perseus kernel wouldnt work? It has to be a 100% stock kernel? Not even a modified stock kernel will work? Sorry if these questions are starting to get repetitive, I havent bought an adapter or dock yet and just trying to figure out how much of what I like and use I will have to sacrifice to use them.

That is correct. Perseus will not work, even the Team WHOMP stock kernel with init.d support added does not work. Strangely the Team WHOMP modified stock kernel will display as normal status, but allshare cast will immediately disconnect anyway.

I get that, but what is different between a 100% stock and a modified kernel that causes it to break?

Sysscope performs a check on the kernel, not sure what it looks for exactly, but a kernel with only init.d support added causes it to break.

Allshare Cast does not work on any custom roms

I have tried Allshare Cast on every custom rom for the Note 2 with the Samsung Media Hub to no avail. It tells me that it connects then after 5 seconds it loses connection and then restarts some of the roms from boot screen. Anyone have any thoughts on this problem?
Yes I could confirm the same. I have both rooted and my wife's unrooted note 2. my wife's note 2 connect with ease, while mine connects then after 5 or so secs disconnects. I have also tried changing different roms. Not sure if it's the rom or it being rooted (since i tried the stock deodexed rom rooted and not working.... my wife's note 2 is bone stock.
Try using triangle away by chainfire to reset your counter back to zero and see IF that works.
Meant to add, the reason is Samsung hub asks for stock Rom and when the counter shows anything other than zero it rejects it as it is NOT stock

But doesn't Triangle Away only take it back to 1 vs zero?
EDIT: Nevermind... its only some devices where it is set to 1 and my device seems to be one of them.

tried the stock deodexed as well as a jedi tmobike based rom, even a. 7100 baes rom. none of them work with allshare cast. and no matter how i reset counter it keeps going back to 1
I had it working on pure stock rooted and hybird (link below/ currently using). I would try a different rom or find another way to reset the counter. Your not getting any weird errors or behaviors when flashing triangle are you?

Or are you saying its not working at all ?I have it working on my computer just fine I just purchased and hdmi to mhl adapter because I download alot of movies and I still have not figured out all of the feautures of all share cast bit I use the mhl tp hdmi its a whole lot less of a headache to use with all share its seems gimicky ... Are you saying that when you start up the app allshare from your phone it loads and than after 5 second disconnects because if that's the issue I can confirm it definitely works with cleanrom 3.5 on scottsroms.com website

Major security hole in stock kernel

See thread here
A user has found that access to RAM is basically unrestricted in the stock kernel for exynos 4 devices, including our version of the Note 2.
At the thread there is a terminal technique to check if you are vulnerable.
Anyone on a custom kernel: If you could run the commands and post whether your kernel is safe or not that would be extremely helpful.
In the meantime, be extremely careful installing apps, as this bug requires no special permissions.

Just a quick sanity check here. You said installed. Did you run the app and have it 'fix it'. I can install and not have any problems with my camera just breaks after I fix it.
Would also be useful if we post what rom and kernel used so we can compare what works and what doesn't.

Anyhow, thanks elflip88. Thats what i was running too and i am able to disable it. But i am asking because the developer of light flow is absolutely thrilled to know i have fixed this issue that he has been trying to fix for months. But the only way to implement this fix is by either deleting the stock browser or flashing it through recovery.
I am working on modding the apk further to allow for a regular install without root. That way people who aren't rooted can still benefit. However, if one is not able to disable the stock browser, and they install my modded one, they will have two "internets" in their app drawer xD So im hoping stock system allows one to disable the browser.

I figured I would start a thread on this. NFL mobile is no longer working on rooted devices. Disabling root and hide my root are not working for me to get it working (stocked rooted md4 and moar).

Apparently not so inexplicably...lol. Now if someone can find out what the app is looking for (logcat?) and why TPR is working someone can make a bypass of the root check. I am pretty sure MOAR uses Supersu like TPR and not Superuser, so it is not that.

Why not use stock rooted and customize it with xposed? Tethering has a workaround on this forum that seems to work for many people and using xposed with wanam you can enable call recording. Use titanium backup to freeze any apps you don't want.

This is not true, I have Vision 4.4.2 built and working, and you can roll back to 4.3 no problem....and when this so called official release does hit, that would be the one that will lock you into 4.4.2, until a dev gets ahold of it and does their thing. Be careful....
You do NOT want to do an upgrade over the phone, that is a sure way to get stuck on 4.4.2.......

WiFi tether router by Fabio. Search on the play store, costs 2 bucks or so and totally worth it. Follow his directions on his page, there's a link from the play store.

Wicked V5 and chose the stock theme in Aroma..... you don't have to activate X posed or Wanam if you don't want to. I think it's as close to debloated/stock and stable you can get. Everything works fine for me. No crashes/no FC's nothing. Wifi calling/tethering. ..... and then you can flash DD Blacked out stock theme and it's just Tits.......
