thats because thats the s pen flex and you dont need to replace that ... thats if you dont tear it or the membrane up getting the digitizer/lcd assembly out. be careful, do your homework before you attempt...... there are plenty of little flexes that can be damaged easily...
also the difference between the pics is one is full assembly with midframe and the other is just the digitizer/lcd assembly.

@gabenevins, you can't replace it at home.don't even try it or you'll screw the entire assembly. The 3 components(display, s-pen surface and the gorilla glass) are very well glued together. In fact, i never heard/saw someone replacing only on component of those 3.Last summer i broke my display.the glass and s-pen flex were untouched.i went to a friend who is working at a samsung authorized service and i had the whole assembly replaced.it just can't be done.btw, it costed me about 180 euros to change the assembly, with 2 yrs warranty. Not to mention you can end up with ordinary lcd panel, instead of super amoled.so i would be careful before buying online one of those.

you can replace/ reuse the s pen membrane as it is not between the glass and lcd...its just adhered to the back of the lcd... now you are correct about the 2 screens ( at least if you want it to work right and look right) the skill level necessary to do this varies depending on which item pictured is chosen...full assembly will be much easier. it is recommended to educate yourself before attempting as i said before... many things you can damage if you dont know how they come apart or just dont know they are there.. a shop is always the safe route...

Another thing you should know not all replacements come with s-pen flex.i can tell you that for sure, here in romania, one site sells this replacement part, but they state clear the s-pen won't work after. So,i guess the second picture is from such assembley, without the s-pen membrane. If this is the case, it is an ordinary lcd panel, made who knows where, not by samsung, which will NEVER have the SAMOLED properties. So, again, my advice is to go for the original stuff.Hell yea, if you want to see how good the assembley is glued, you can try. I did look, because my friend gave me the broked display back.all i can tell you is this : the glass came-off with pieces from display.that's how they are glued .

I dropped my phone last night *tear* some advice would be nice...

But luckily it isnt a lot worse than it could of actually been, as you can see from the pics, the damage is done in the bottom left of the pic (or bottom right of the physical phone if that is how you want to consider it). Apologies on the quality of pictures as all I had to take the picture was my galaxy tab 10.1.

So what I would like to know is, this is the digitizer that is damaged right? and if so it is easy to replace? Also where would be a good site to get my replacement part from?
I heard in xda that ebay is good for spare parts like digitizer
Screen still works?

I broke the screen on mine. It still worked just fine but had spidered all over and pieces of glass were starting to come out. I simply bought just the glass for it off eBay and replaced just the glass. Works perfect like it is new. Was under $20.

I thought about doing that too, was it hard to take the glass and the glue off?

I, too, have slightly broken glass on my phone and have been considering replacing just the glass, but the display, digitizer and glass seem to be glued together on these AMOLED screens and I heard separating them isn't easy.
I might just play the 180€ and get it repaired at there official service center :/
It's much like the S3. I used the screen replacement videos from them as a guide. The key is to use lots of heat and work slowly. It comes off just fine from the digitizer. Getting it started can be a bit difficult to get under the glass, but once it's started just gently progress along and use a blow dryer on low heat. They are glued together, but can be separated with heat and slowly prying them off. Watch the S3 videos and you'll get the idea. I couldn't find and galaxy nexus videos but the S3 ones worked fine. At one point everyone said the same thing about them that you can't replace just the glass too can they are glued together. But they're quite separable.

Thanks, I will look into it some more. I just can't really justify spending the 180 I was quoted for to get the work done by some repair centre or spend 120 on the actual screen and digitizer and then doing it myself when this phone is hardly worth that price.

Is it possible to buy and replace the Z1 camera lens first glass or filter?

There currently are no replacement parts for the camera. The only ones I know of are Chinese full module sets. Whats wrong with yours?
Mine got scrached.
I want original one.
The first element is the glass from the back of the phone.
You can buy the back pannel which also includes that piece of glass.

any idea how much it will cost?

... Are you sure this piece includes the camera glass?
If I look at my Xperia Z1, the back plate seems to stop at the camera (exactly at the silver ring) leaving a hole.
The camera glass itself looks like a separate piece to me.

i also think it is a part of back cover for water resisting purpose.
Take a look here:
http://www.xperiablog.net/2013/09/15/xperia-z1-disassembly-guide/
The glass is mounted and glued on the back pannel. Beneath it is the camera assembly, they are 2 separate things.

Yes. I saw the link. I think it is better to don't change the back cover because of it and wait for possible Z4.
It is not that bad:
Well, it's your phone, not mine, you know what's the best thing to do.
Btw, the replacement procedure is very simple, you use a hotgun to heat up the back pannel, and a suction cup to take it off ... Afterwards you order a brand new adhesive foil from ebay and new backpannel, you glue it back on and voilla. Water resistance is not affected.
Good to hear water resistance not affecting

Problem after screen replacement

Hey guys, my lg g2 screen was cracked so I got a replacement screen, both digitizer and lcd. Everything went smoothly and I have everything working but a small this bothers me. The screen is not flush with the frame it pops out a bit maybe the double sided tape I used inside to hold the screen down wasn't good enough. Do you guys have any ideas as to what I can do? I was thinking of applying a little bit of silicone and let it set. Any help will be much appreciated. I am attaching the photos of it as well to get a better idea.

I used a glue from Home Depot, the type you mix. I got the clear kind. There are many types but look and see the pressure resistance and if it works on plastics before you buy. Mine was also water proof. I believe it was a type of Gorilla glue, it worked wonders unlike the tape. Jus make sure you get the correct type, even Gorilla has different types. You also have to maintain pressure till it dries by the way or your screen will stick out.

If we use this method, how easy would it be to replace the screen again if need be?
I'm just wondering if the glue would work TOO well.

Use a type of glue which melts with the heat, like the original.

The people that repaired my screen did a bad job, thats why I added the glue, the new screen had rainbow lines issues but they manged to get it off with a little force and replace it again. This is because I did not go overboard and add too much, so you should be fine if u need to break off or replace the LCD.
I used Gorilla Epoxy (3300Psi and sets in 5 mins), just make sure to use very little amounts or it might get in between the LCD layers, basically just don't be overzealous and you will be fine.

LCD supporting frame replacement?

Long story short, the silver covered plastic frame is in very bad shape.
I was just wondering if I can replace just the silver frame or I'd have to replace the whole glass screen?
The glass screen is undamaged but just the silver frame/bezel is:

I've found at ebay the digitizer and the frame but it costs around 100USD, almost the price of a used but in good shape s4 mini, so if I don't want the digitizer and I buy just the frame I will have to use my own digitizer, and this means that I may break my screen
From your experience, is there anything I can do? Leave it this way? Any good case to hide this kind of damage?
On a side note, because of this low quality frame I am considering in buying another brand next year, like HTC.
Thank you in advanced for your help.

Have the same problem, my phone has no damages only this silver frame...
Sorry to hear that.
I am still seeking for a cheap and safe solution...
I know people that are having the same problem. A cover which covers that part of the phone helped me keep it neat, which it still is after 1 year and 3 months of using the phone daily.
If I were you, I would just use a cover and hide it with it, since you cannot find one like that. Or just buy the whole part, which roughly costs 130EUR at where I live.
It's not easy to disassembly the screen from the silver frame, it has a very good glue between screen and frame, if you try to separate them screen will brake just because screen its very fragile
LCD supporting frame replacement
I suggest you to replace the whole glass screen instead just the sliver frame. For good quality Samsung Galaxy S4 lcd screen replacement you can go to: hcqs.com.cn

Broken Screen for Tab Pro 12.2. Where can I get the part?

Hello,
Just like the title say, I broke the screen on my Tab Pro 12.2. It is still usable but I hate the appearance. I want to replace the screen/digitizer. I have replace screen on tablet before so this is not new to me. However, I am unable to find the screen replacement part for the Tab Pro. I can only see the screen replacement part for the Note Pro. Since these 2 tablets are almost the same, do you think the screen/digitizer for the Note Pro will work on the Tab Pro? Please let me know or anybody has the same experience.
This is what I found on ebay:

Sorry to hear about that... I had the same thing happen to me last winter with my Tab Pro 8.4 (T325).
Unless you have plans to get the repair done professionally, or have both the means, and tools to do it yourself, I would avoid just buying the Digitizer.
As all you end up doing is scratching up the Polarizing Filter (at the best), or cracking the actual LCD Panel (at worst). The Filters AFAIK are only avalible in packs of 50 each, and wernt that cheap to start with.
As it is the Digitizer and, the LCD are (were), ment to be One unit. and, replacing this bit isn't nearly as simple as on most Chinese crap I've been forced to come accross.
There for it probably advisable to try, and get a complete unit. Which is way more stright forward fix.
As for me...? Taking the cost of what a new Unit for the T325 would have cost me... I opted to just buy another used one. Which sadly worked out about the same cost wise.
Tab Pro and Note Pro 12.2 use the same touchscreen ( digitizer ), the difference is LCD. Note Pro LCD has S Pen flex. That's why the LCD assembly of Note Pro has two cables: touchscreen and S Pen.
However, touchscreen and LCD are glued together by LOCA ( Liquid Optical Clear Adhesive ), without experiences you most likely will crack the LCD why trying to separate the two screens by heat gun.
Even if you successfully removed the touchscreen and the LCD is not damaged, without LOCA the LCD and touchscreen will have a big black spot like this

This is another one when the screen is on
I broke at least two LCDs to learn how to do it properly without damaging the LCD. It takes at least 3 to 4 hours to get it done and requires extremely patient.
This glue alone can take at least 1 hour to clean off the LCD. In this picture, you can see the HOME button, flex cable for BACK and MENU buttons, these parts and the frame are not included in most LCD assembly misleading as full LCD assembly.
You may have two options:
1- Buy the new LCD assembly, but be aware that most of the sales is for LCD assembly without the frame and HOME button, flex cable for BACK and MENU. You still need to do the work of remove the frame to re use it. Completed LCD assembly with frame and HOME button is more expensive.
2- Buy a used completed LCD assembly, less expensive and easy to install. This one is an example, but it has a defective LOCA at the edge of the screen. However, you won't see it when the screen is on. This is a completed LCD assembly with frame . Black or white LCD assembly doesn't matter, it will fit with your back cover.
