Hi,
I did the the unroot option. Now the superSu was uninstalled. When I run the root checker app to check the root status i got the below message"
root access is not properly configured or was not granted"
Does this mean that my phone is unrooted?

[Q] Is this spam or a virus?

or something else?
I regularly (say weekly) get what appears to be a message on my phone which looks like this:-
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If I open it, nothing happens for a while then it tries to install some software. I always hit cancel at this point but have noticed that the logo in the top left varies.
Can anyone tell me what this is?
Thanks
Nick

Actually in Q&A.
Did you recently install any app, it is being caused by an alp that has push ad capability. Try remembering which app you installed and got these right after. You could also screenshot your apps list so we can help search that app for you.

Thanks everybody. Now I know what it is, I can deal with it. Normal push-ad detection apps don't recognise it so I've installed aLogcat so I can see what's going on. Will post back if successful. Or not!

Thanks a lot!!! But does it mean I cannot update through ota?
the first rule of rooting is to never take an OTA update; if that is something you want to do, then dont root...
If I'd root my note 8 will I be able to flash ota updates if I temp unroot with voodoo root keeper?

I just hit update and it worked. I rooted via stumproot (brute force) and it still took the OTA. I don't know why it did without errors, I am using rootcloaker with xposed which may have blocked the OTA from seeing it was rooted.
Ok, I need some help. I've tried this method about 10 times and I can NEVER get the LG software to recognize my phone. I am using the official USB that came with my phone. I am willing to do anything at this point to get my phone working again. I've even looking into Titanium Backup to see if I could "Freeze" the OTA. I'm not really sure what or how to do that so I didn't do anything. Should I just flash a rom?
Please help
found this.. still not sure it will work

isn't you could just stop freedom using menu before open playstore? tested it, works
http://in-appstore.com/?page_id=12
If you want to remove Freedom, first launch it, go to MENU, then tap on STOP. Next you can remove Freedom successfully. IF YOU DID NOT DO IT – YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO USE GOOGLE PLAY WITHOUT FREEDOM!

Yes you are right

After a root attempt, a message pops up every time it detects unauthorized changes

I tried to root to a Galaxy S4 TAB
The computer seemed to pass
I do not see Root access on the device
Only a message constantly pops up that it has detected a threat and needs to reboot the device.
It has detected unauthorized changes.
How do you return a Roth?

I have the same on my rooted tab, assumed it was because it was detecting root apps in use.

Magisk manager is one of the components needed for rooting. If his don't have it installed you may have missed a step in the process.
