Has Anybody tried both Rootbox and AOKP :: jb-mr1 build 4? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

These seem like the two most popular 4.2.2 ROMS for the T989 and I cant decide which to flash.
Also any other 4.2 ROM thats a fast daily driver would be helpful.
Thanks

No. No one's used them.

I would try using PACman Rom.

I'm full of great idea's, but don't have the time to create them or learn the coding to create them. If you want to make one of my ideas a reality just message me and I will give you my idea as specific as possible.
ideas:
-launcher/lock screen
-line rider type game where you control the character
-2d fighting game like art of fighting for the SNES
-multiplayer fps where you create your own map with a creative mode (minecraft style)
-roller coaster tycoon style game
-many more!
Just message me which idea you want info on and I'll tell you!

Rootbox is AOKP with more mods but lacks NFC and might have just a tiny bit more bugs than AOKP.
In my opinion, try both ROMs to see which one you prefer and then make a decision upon that.

People have used them so when you say "No one's used them" your generalizing your answer with everyone else. Don't do that.

If you try the PACman ROM it has features of all bases (CM, AOKP, PA).

I haven't tried either but for a daily driver I would go jedi cm because it's stable, fast, and the bugs are minimal and don't ruin anything

Thanks everybody for the helpful posts.
I tried AOKP mr1 build 4 but realized i miss touchwiz. I just flashed Jedi CM 4 with the inverted Gapps and Touchwiz (its only the widgets no call to slide option which is what I was looking for)
I cant believe the options we still have for the T989

Yes, I wiped everything, flashed ROM, Inverted Gapps then Touchwiz then reboot. Everything is working great except Facebook didnt sync contacts. I think thats the fault of Black Fackbook app. I got a facebook sync app from the market.
All I can ask for is swipe to call and remove text labels from icons.

Better yet, you should make one thread and post all your slightly different roms there. Will help with not clogging the dev section. No offense not trying to discourage you from releasing your rom in any way. Good luck.

This seems to be a poor attempt at humor to me. Honestly man if you think you can do better than what we have then lets see. Otherwise I think the devs are doing a great job entertaining us with various roms until ics source is out.
Wont matter if its the same as every other rom or different then every other rom, it wont make someone happy and they will be sure to come and tell you about it, rather then just move on to something else. True story.
That's right, KB, seems to be what a small but very vocal group of people 'round here do; this guy's attempt at venting his frustration through "humor" is not productive.

I've been wondering this too. Can't seem to find any info on this issue, I thought people would use custom densities in their phones. :/ This problem is also in Dialer/Phone when someone calls you the answering ring is off-center. Also Google Now popup is affected when you press home key.
Bump this up! I've been looking everywhere for this. Haven't seen anyone with a fix. I even installed the JB lock screen app from the play store and it still isn't centered -_- lol

Im also thinking about flashing Paranoid Android but its on Alpha stage yet right? Is it stable?
I'm running paranoid and changing the DPI of framework doesn't work, its still aligned to the right. I think the fix is what's posted above, but I tried making those changes to be centered and my phone wouldn't boot.
But to answer your question yes, its pretty stable, I haven't really had any problems. I've been running paranoid since it first released, before it was even a real rom

I've been looking into this off and on, and I just compared some JB framework files to ICS framework files. In /res/layout/keyguard_screen_lock.xml they are identical. They both seem to have things aligned to the right, so it's starting to make me wonder where the pic in the OP came from exactly (the original file, on the left)
[SOLVED]
Sethyx, one of the very awesome Team-AOKP devs very kindly merged a fix into AOKP JB Build 1  I've tested it, and it works perfectly.
For now, it is only available as part of the full ROM. Download it here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7965056/aokp_maguro_jb-build-1.zip It's not the same build that's on AOKP's site, even though it's named the same. This is basically build 1, with the lock-ring alignment fix.
This ROM, running Franco's kernel + 270 DPI, fully themed is DA SHIZNIT!

AOKP is probably your best bet. Stable and highly customizable.
I am currently on BAMF and really like it. It has a fair amount of customization, neat features and the theming extends to most apps including all gapps. Give it a whirl if the flashing urge hits. I recommend crimson themes to go with it.

Hello I'm running CNA 3.5 and loving it. I noticed this rom just now and in curious. And to be clear, this is no knock on the ROM or the OP, I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.
Why do you guys like the ROM so much, as opposed to CNA. Just because of the extra blacks in a few places? All those same wallpapers come with CNA anyway right? If I'm missing any differences from CNA, I want to know.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I'm also curious... I guess I'll need to read some more to understand the differences. Is there something substantially different between this, and using CNA with dark walls, kernel color tweaks and perhaps a dark theme?
Certainly, to each his/her own. Just trying to understand this.
Sent from a Galaxy Nexus far far away...
That's it, everything is just blacked out. Only other differences I have found so far are...
Messaging- is travp's messaging, has option for transforming long texts into MMS (good for messages over 160 characters) and can change soft keyboard type (smiley, send, or enter for a new line).
Wallpaper- CNA wallpapers are not included.

Well, it's not only few blacks, it's the whole ui has been inverted to black. Frameworks, Apps. Then it has some optimizations tho. But if you prefer white, stick with CNA.

[Mod] Inverted JB 4.2 keyboard

Found this little gem on the gnex side. Made a flashable zip for it. Enjoy.
Click this!
Edit (November 30, 2012 8:51 AM EST) - For those that are looking to install, I'm running this on an AOSP based ROM (BlackBean) and it should work just fine for other AOSP ROMs as it originally came from the Galaxy Nexus. You are free to try it on your Touchwiz ROM but like any other flashable mod, you know the disclaimers. No need to spell it out for you.
Also, I don't care to hear it didn't work for you without anything else to amplify. Those comments are completely unnecessary and litter up a possibly useful thread. Matter of fact, I'll report the offending posts from here on out. Posts like that are what caused Justin860 to have his inverted app thread locked up.
In short, if you don't post something helpful, GTFO. Thanks.
