[Q] Can I simply use latest Radio ? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
currently I have Radio Radio_12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03_M on my DHD. Can I simply use the lastet version of radio ?
12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M or 12.68.60.29U_26.16.04.09
Basically I have no real problems with current radio but in my opinion battery-life, gps and wifi could be better....
I read alot (maybe not enough  ) but I didn't found an answer to it...
Thx a lot !

You are using the a newer radio than the ones you are willing to change to. That is the AT&T 2.3.3 radio update. The lastest radio is the 11_M that came with the 2.3.5 AT&T update.
Flashing a radio is dangerous and might render your device useless, so be careful when doing that. You need to be S-OFF to flash a different radio.

Thank you. But honestly I'm not sure that I understand correct.
I read about different rom versions here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877295
And if thought that my Radio Version 12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03_M in from June 2011.

That is probably because I had an Inspire 4G and updates for the I4G were lousy. DHD have many updates in different countries. Anyway, the lastest one is the AT&T 2.3.5 one.

You might try posting this question in the
[Resources] Rhodium Radio Collection Thread
A couple of people have posted there about trying this radio.
FWIW: For a lot of people, the 4.49.25.17 radio-rom works better than stock TMoUSA radio.
Remember: The stock TMoUSA radio-rom is not available for re-installation, so if you replace it you can't go back.

May be because telstra uses 850mhz band for it's 3g and every one else used 900/2100mhz in Australia.

Thanks for that I had a feeling I was posting in the incorrect forum.
Hey there. Thanks for the heads up.
Downloading now.
BTW. Why would you want to flash this if you're rooting anyway? Isn't this just for the less adept?
Is this a Telstra branded ROM or a generic ROM for Telstra phones?
Anyone else perform the update? Any issues?
It's the official update from Telstra so yes it is a Telstra branded ROM and as such it does come with Telstra's bloatware.
Got it. Upgraded my phone. No issues so far. It didn't pick up the AT&T APN information automatically so I had to enter it manually. This did screw up the setup of the phone since it couldn't connect to the internet. It suggested that WiFi could be substituted for the standard data connection, but it couldn't connect to my WiFi router. After skipping through the setup, establishing the AT&T APN information, it completed the data connection and I was also able to connect to my WiFi router without issue.
The only outstanding issue is with the dates displayed on some apps. While I have set the default to be USA standard, some apps report the date in the European standard. One app, TripIt, reports some trips in USA standard while others are in the European standard. This doesn't appear to be a Froyo issue, but rather an app issue -- as reported by others.
I don't notice much speed improvement except for web browsing. All in all, a very successful upgrade.

OTA Updates After Changing Radios
Hey guys, so I'm kind of noob at this but I do have some experience and is just wondering about a few things.
So i flashed the GPE version last night only to find that it booted correctly and everything but just could not find my local mobile network (Starhub I live in Singapore). So I went on over to do some research and I found this thread and decided to try it out, and as I have bought the phone in Taiwan, I went ahead and downloaded the Taiwan radio.img, replaced it with the one inside the original non rooted RUU and flashed it onto my phone again. This time I could get signal and everything. So here's my question, if I were to get the Lollipop OTA update from Google, will it mess up my radios again? And if it does mess up my radios, what can I do to fix it back? And will it even let me install the new OTA update?
which is best?
I am using an international version of htc one m8 and i flashed the att radio 1.19 getting decent signal but wondering if the dev/att 1.16 radio would be a better option. I have s-off and superCID and i am using the LiquidSmooth ROM but other than that i don't know what to add that would help new to the ROM game but would like to achieve optimum signal with my phone. Also if it helps i am using an ATT sim card for my carrier and i am in the US if that helps best determine radio for the optimum signal strength then cool thanks for any help and comments, to my most likely silly question.
Trying to put a radio back on my phone and got to the part where i enter this command dd if=/storage/sdcard0/radio.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p20 it comes up with this error 1|[email protected]_m8:/ $ dd if=/storage/sdcard0/radio.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p20
/storage/sdcard0/radio.img: cannot open for read: No such file or directory
Dropbox 404
Hi I'm trying to download Radio for BS_US002, however it keeps giving me Dropbox404.
Could you please fix the link? Or it's just my problem?
The radio that gets flashed with graffixnyc's 2.12.1700.1 RUU is 1.14, but I've noticed a few people mentioned the latest as bring 1.21. My question is probably stupid, but who has used that RUU with a different radio then what it came with on the AT&T network ?
flash radio to get better sim

att one m8 in slovakia
Hello. I am using htc one m8 Att in slovakia and I am loosing signal. I need right radio. I tryied GPE,DEV,WWE radio. how radio I must use?

Searched everywhere but couldn't find one.

HTC One M8 WWE
Hi I have HTC One M8 WWE, base band 1.22.21331147a1.29g_20.67.4196.01_f, rooted device but I can't S-off and SuperCID, because firewater doesn't work and Sunshine can't hack my device. So I want to flash to Verizón GSM Radio, because it's support WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100 MHz and LTE 700/AWS. I need it for LTE in Peru.
What I can do?
Radio for TMobile on GPE
I rooted my AT&T HTC One M8 and installed GPE Lollipop. With AT&T radio I was getting 2G and 3G at my place, with GPE I lost all of that and I do not have any TMobile signal.
I am thinking about flashing the radio with a TMobile Radio ROM to get at least some signal back.
I am S-Off, Rooted, and I have GPE CID/MID, fastboot says the software version is Official (not tampered).
Anybody with any experience with this path? I have a Note 4 also and it sees 4G signal here. Note 4 has all the LTE bands supported and TMobile mostly uses band 12 (700MHz-A) here, along with Band 2 and 4.
What are my chances of getting the TMo signal back on HTC?
I see a bunch of questions but no answer but here's my go at it...
Can someone tell me which radio is for AT&T 4.4.3 and if it's safe to flash on 4.4.4?
Radios/WiFi Q's and Issues
Hey guys, long time lurker first time poster. Just wanted to say, thanks a million times. The posts here have helped me through a lot of nasty situations with phones. Here is my current issue:
I have an ATT version M8 (please excuse if I don't know correct terminology for everything).
I am S-Off and rooted. I was running the latest ViperRom with no issues. WiFi and 4gLTE worked, though LTE was spotty. I just rooted to the latest SkyDragon 5.0 release however and now I have lost WiFi and LTE (just shows 4g).
Does anyone have any suggestions for how to correct this issue? I have unlimited data but I would still like the best LTE signal possible and the option to use WiFi.
Thank you all, in advance.

Did you do a wipe of user data before switching ROMs, or did you "dirty flash"?
I'm running Dev Edition 4.16.1540 firmware, and the SkyDragon Sense 7 ROM, and its running flawlessly on AT&T.

I did the full wipe. I think most of my issues come from the fact I am starting on an ATT phone and loading it with TMo software. I read some posts about just downloading new radios, but I am not sure if that would work. It may fix my LTE but wouldn't effect my WiFi issues I wouldn't think.
For the record, before this, I settled on the Venom rom because it was the only one that worked with both WiFi and LTE. I can't track down why that is though.

[Q] US phone - 4G

Hello.
FIrst , i know there are 2 more threads ( or maybe more , i could only find 2 ) about this but they didn't made me understand my problem.
So I live in Europe and my M8 is an US M8 ( Canadian if i remember right) and because of that 4G isn't working here , in Europe.
Now my question is : Can I do something about this ? I'm s-off if that can help..
Thanks.
Check if your version of the M8 supports the 4G band(s) used by your carrier. If not, the band support can be changed by flashing the appropriate radio.
Also, make sure you are using the proper APN for your carrier. Sometimes carriers use a different APN for 4G enabled devices.

1) Verify what version of the M8 you own
2) Check specs online to see what bands your M8 version is supposed to support
3) Find out what 4G band(s) your carrier uses
You haven't given much detail, and I don't know your knowledge base (what you do or don't know how to do). So I can only give general steps, and rely on you to ask specific questions on the steps above, as necessary.
Flashing the radio appropriate for your region/carrier is probably going to fix the problem. But I recommend you do the research above first, to first confirm that band support (missing in the device software) is the issue.

Yeah , looks like my brain wasn't working when I wrote you later.
I have a T-Mobile M8 and their bands are 700 , 1700 , 2100. For my carrier I need 800, 1800 , 2600 so looks like I need to flash a radio.
I just did a research and found some radio here on xda but i don't know which one to download. ( If you can help me here i would be very thankful )
My phone is s-off so i'm alright , i just need to change my cid to supercid.
---
Yeah . I know Canada is not a part of the US.
Do you intend to run a custom ROM, or keep the phone stock?
I already have a custom ROM - ViperOne
@redpoint73
So can you help me in finding the radio for my M8 ?
If the latest Viper (version 4.x), I would suggest flashing the 4.16.401 firmware package. Not only to get the Euro radio (with the LTE bands you are looking for), but all the other firmware modules that correspond to the 4.16 software, for most bug-free performance.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696282
s-off is required (which you state you already have) to flash another region/carrier's firmware. Plus, you will need to change to the proper CID and MID.

That isn't the firmware number.
The term "firmware" is a little confusing. On this device, when most folks say "firmware" (including the link I sent you) it refers to a package of modules including hboot, radio, WiFi, Bluetooth, and others, that DO NOT get flashed with the ROM (but are critical in the correct operation of the ROM).
Firmware does not in fact really have a "number", so referring to the software (OS) number that the firmware deployed with is the best we can do. So again, its confusing.
The OS number is bootloader just tells you what software number the current ROM is based. Flash a ROM with a different base, and that number will change. But the hboot, radio "firmware" will not change. Therefore you want to have firmware that corresponds to your ROM.
There is in fact no easy way to tell what firmware package you have installed. The best way is to look at the hboot and radio numbers. So tell me what those say on the hboot screen, and I can probably tell what firmware you are on (although I'm not that familiar with the T-Mob radio numbers).
If you read the thread I linked, it explains it a little further under the big red letters.

Interesting, you already seem to be on the Lollipop WWE Euro radio, based on this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58306004&postcount=734
And the T-Mobile radio number is 1.23.213311491.05G, based on this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59275459&postcount=712
Did you flash any firmware packages previously (by the method that I linked). Or was the phone modified by a previous owner?
Now why the WWE Euro radio doesn't give you LTE, is the real mystery. You've used this SIM on another phone before, and had LTE?

Interesting, you already seem to be on the Lollipop WWE Euro radio, based on this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58306004&postcount=734
And the T-Mobile radio number is 1.23.213311491.05G, based on this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59275459&postcount=712
Did you flash any firmware packages previously (by the method that I linked). Or was the phone modified by a previous owner?

Umm , yes. I flashed a firmware when i updated viper rom from 44.2 to 4.4.4 i think. I don't know if the phone was modified by a previous owner.

The radio number would suggest you flashed the Android 5.0 firmware, not 4.4.4.
Check the APN again. Does it match the APN on the "other" phone?
If the 4.16.401 firmware, and running current Viper, and right APN, I don't see a reason why LTE won't work. You might check the Viper thread to see if there are any other reports of a similar bug.

The APN is good. I'm gonna check Viper thread but probably I'm just gonna leave it like this. I'm gonna buy the M9 anyway when it's available here. Just wanted to make 4G work untill I buy it but yeah. Thanks anyway for your big help Have a good day/night.
What country are you in, specifically?
I think there were a couple countries (mostly Eastern Europe, I think) that had some data issues on KitKat, but I think they had some minor radio updates. And I would think those issues would have been cleared up by now (for Lollipop).
