[REQ] A launcher manager app that.... (please read on) - Galaxy S III Themes and Apps

hello
I have a got 5 launchers installed with different looks and feels for different moods and situations.
I keep changing them very frequently.
But when i change a launcher, the previous one keeps running in background and i have to kill it manually. So we i change launchers almost every hour, this has become irritating for me. So can anyone please tell me a home switcher app that can kill previous launcher automatically when I switch to another one?
I searched some but they simply switch launchers and don't kill previous ones.
Also, on switching launcher, my wallpaper changes of switched launcher to that of previous launcher, how to fix it except manually changing wallpaper again.

Cmon man! I don't change exactly every hour. I have my own reasons (don't think that way, I am a clean teen).
Btw its sad to know that i will have to do manual stuff.

Try "Home Chooser Flow"

How about next launcher 3d done by Go launcher team? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gtp.nextlauncher

Ive stuck with nova since my first android phone.. never even considered any others they will never get close.. dont know how you can change every hour thats crazy!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

"home control" is the only launcher chooser that sticks to notification bar after reboot.

And why do not use only one launcher with many theme ??
Switching will be easier and clean each time ^^
And if you want to know how to make your theme xda and his powerful search tool will be you friend

try to change number of rows and columns in adw setings, and by long pressing on screen you get option to edit..then edit
That doesn't Work, changing number of rows nd colums makes the Widgets worst!
I am using launcher pro, I have used adw but I can't solve the problem in both of them, I also tried auto arrange to grid option, but the Icons touch the dock so it looks like crap.... I really enjoyed sense, but cm7 is awesome with 1 bug which is bugging me a lot
PLS sum1 help me to solve the prob... tmrw I will describe the prob using screenshots.....

I have the same exact problem, just flashed the rom today on my Wildfire and so far I love it, but widgets really look horrible... the auto stretch option doesn't help much. I've also tried Pure Messenger, which is supposed to have a similar functionality for its own widget, and nothing changed.
I'm using ADW Launcher, the one that came with CM7.1: is it a problem with themes or something else? Doesn't anyone else really experience this issue?
Goto Adw settings, ui settings, icons, use new icons, then set the main icon sizes to x. X=desired settings. I use 90. I got adw ex so not sure if these settings are available in adw free. Hope this helps.

I've read a lot of people suggesting launcher pro over adw launcher and relatives: I've just installed the Cyanogen for the first time, though, and this is also my first time with a custom launcher (I've always been using HTC Sense so far) so I'd rather accustom myself to what's already there before messing up with this. But thanks for the suggestion!

Launcher for GN2!

Well I just came from rooted mytouch 4g and loved the endless possibilities of being rooted! But I don't want to root this GN2 yet because of warranty but enough said I want to change my dpi or just change the size of things and love a good launcher with lots of themes but not any launcher IV tried has abilities to change icon size or dpi...
Any one found a good launcher besides nova prime, or go launcher

I hate Go Launcher. It used to be great. Then they switched over to GetJar to download themes, and they have Free to download but pay to use themes. It's a huge mess. I personally like Nova or Apex. Although now that ADW has updated their app, I've been using that. I have to say it works pretty well, though each time I reboot I have to reset it as the default launcher.
I love the stock launcher with a few exceptions; I don't understand why they made the pages a 4x4 grid. The Note fully justifies a 5x5 grid. I wish that the other launchers gave you the ability to quick-scroll between pages in the homescreen and in the dock like the stock touchwiz launcher does.
I changed my DPI to 280 and use Go Launcher with a 6x6 grid and works very well. Now the stock Samsung keyboard and dialer did not scale correctly, but I use Swipe and the Go Dialer.
Adw has gotten as lot better and after a haitus from it I'm back and it's better than it had ever been

Not finding that on the play store. Are you referring to a theme or an actual launcher?

Still stuck on Nova launcher. Fast, stable and the backup feature is in the free version. $4 for the pro, gives you message and email counts on the icons, just like TW.

You could simply use one of the toolkits. And if something happens you can use it revert back to complete stock.

Well, I finally invested the time in learning enough about Lightning Launcher. It's really COMPLETELY different than other launchers I've tried, which is what I like about it. I've tried Apex, ADW, Nova and briefly touched GO -- they're all pretty much the same -- all pretty good. Lightning is kind of a big pain to figure out and it doesn't give the option for a scrollable dock, but you can pin, resize, rotate and arrange all icons, widgets and folder labels in whatever way you want, all on a zoomable, scrollable page. You can't really apply themes, but you can make up whatever you want. Your screen is really like a window onto an infinite desktop that you have full control over. It doesn't have the fancy animation options that the others do, so there's not a lot of "Wow" factor for others to see, but I have everything accessible from a single screen that doesn't feel too cluttered with icons. Lightning is free from Play and doesn't require root.
FWIW, here's a screen shot of my home page -- The two rows of icons at the bottom are pinned as well as the Google search widget at the top. Everything else moves and zooms in or out behind the pinned stuff. If I want, I can place other items above, below, or to the sides and just scroll to them. Lightning does support other pages that you can switch to with a two-finger swipe, and I use them as sort of a sandbox for trying things out, but everything I want is on my main home page.
I've been using atom launcher for a while first on my s2 and now on my note2. It will let you create folders which is nothing new but you can scroll with your finger or with the S Pen. Also you can vary the opacity of the icons on the home screen if you want to keep some what of a clean look. I'll post pics to better explain.

I'm pretty sure I've tried them all, and seem to always revert back to Nova Pro. Its fast, stable, has nice features without be gimmicky like Go and some of the others. Bottom line I want something that works that isn't at burden on system resource, Nova fits that bill.

Root modifies your devices's firmware, so...no :/

So, what launcher are you guys using?

I'm irritated. I bought Nova Prime two months back and it is a great launcher, lite and so smooth. But I just found wallpaper cropping issue two days back and now I won't use it until it's fixed.
I tried Apex then, well it has homescreen transparency bug, dock scrolling is terribly laggy, as well as folder opening.
Then I tried Go, and that infamous App drawer lag problem still exists!
Just some hours ago I gave a try to ADW and it too has wallpaper cropping issue.
I'm back to TW now, it's the fastest and smoothest no doubt, but no customized icons, below average app drawer, no homescreen grid customisation and stuffs.
I need something which will be light and works fast, and NO bugs. So what you guys are using?
Thanks in advance.

Used to use nova prime and widget locker for my GS2 which I bought for a total of ~8 dollars. However, when I moved to note 2 I no longer saw any use for them. Touchwiz in this phone is hugley improved and so is the lockscreen.
SPB SHELL 3D(best one ,i checked every single launcher before using it) but it has no transition for ALL Applications section...

Most people I know use Nova or Go. I think Apex is far nicer and looks closer to a clean Android build. Far easier to customise your icon grids and transitions.

It has redraw problems and the dock and folder menu is lagging horribly for me. When I had my S2 it was favourite launcher too, but back then it didn't lag.

Same here! I've tried all these launchers along with Holo hd and Atom launcher but the best one out of these imo is Nova prime with no stutter/lag. But I can't find an option to customise the app drawer grid layout (which is fixed at 4x5) wasting a lot of space. So, back to stock TW, fastest & smoothest but ugly big icons imo !
Not sure if this has been asked before but does changing launchers affect the S Pen features?

i always use TSF Shell, which i think is the best and i tried a lot
Don't know if this is related to your cropping issue on Nova but I just use the Android settings menu to set the wallpaper instead of Nova settings. Settings -> Display ->Wallpaper. Background is crisp and sharp.

+1, i also use TSF shell, the new version allowed you to customized the icon as well and for drawer side, u can customize the number of row and columns. the best part and the part that i loved the most is the folder image, so nice, rather than just a square box represent a folder. regarding the home screen icon setting and placement are way to customize, u can just arrange or rotate around the icon as you wish and u even can use the grid line in order to arrange your symmetric. Believe me, the best launcher that i ever had use.
the second launcher i would recommend is either GO or SPB shell 3D.
you choose buddy.

Or you man up and just keep the girls as wallpapers ? Its just a wallpaper for god sake..
I just changed my GF's launcher to Nova, showed her that I could restore TouchWiz if she needed to (with all ther icons still in place) and the imported her stuff from TouchWiz and left her with it. It's been a few days and she hasn't complained.
I'm trying to niggle her down. She's still on XXLG9 ICS 4.0.4 I run my own ROM with many users and she won't even use it Doesn't like changing it I swear if 4.1.2 is super good I'll just have to do the same thing, back up her phone in CWM and with Titanium... install the latest version and restore everything as it was!

Use Tasker. If launcher 1 set wallpaper to x, if launcher 2 is visible set wallpaper y. It does have 1 second lag or so to detect the running application and switch, but it's the only method to my knowledge.

Thanks i knew there should be a way to do it, ill try it.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Just as your GF how she changes her wallpaper of all the naked guys just before she meets you! LOL!
Failing that you could always just use Tasker (as mentioned) to change the wallpaper but you can also change it based on location (WiFi, GPS etc..) or time of day, or just create a shortcut or widget to change it, basically whatever you want. It does only work with static wallpapers but there is a 3rd party app (EasyProfiles) that can change live wallpapers and it integrates in to Tasker so even that is possible.

Apex Launcher + Holo Locker

Hey guys, I'm using these great apps to replace my launcher and lockscreen.
The problem is: Eventually, when I push the home button and unlock my device, all icons are gone for a few seconds (as if the launcher was restarting). I don't know what is going on and didn't found anything on google.
Does anyone know what is causing this? Any tips?
I know it's probably Holo Locker's fault, but it would be nice to fix that without having to remove it.

Sounds like a launcher redraw, I don't know holo locker but in apex you got an option to keep it in memory to reduce those redraws. Maybe try it.

It definitly sounds like launcher redraw. It happened to me very often on my SGSI. Normally after using an app the steals lots of ram or one that stores alot in the cache memory.
U should spend 4$$ on the go launcher holiday special, its a lightweight version of normal go launcher ex witch also includes go locker integrated and it is only 4.7 mb.
A lot of the additional crap from go launcher is gone, but still customizable with themes-text color-icon size-etc..it is so fast, smooth and stable..really a joy to use IMO..

It is slimmed down about 40%.I personally think that to much crap is filled in free go launcher ex,but the holiday edition is so fast and stable.the reviews on play store is amazing,I mean ppl can't/ won't read OP and also don't uninstall their free go launcher and go locker before installing the paid one.go locker is integrated in the paid version.and ofcause u can not restore your settings from free launcher as this is a completely different launcher, but so what it takes max 30 min to set up your app/widgets on homescreen,if u really have cramped up your homescreens..
Refund it within 15min,I do that quite often if I don't like the apps I just purchased.
