How to unroot in order to get updates from HTC

Hello ,
My phone is rooted and has s-off, the rom is the stock rom from HTC.
I want to unroot it in order to get updates from HTC in the future.
What should I do ?

gold card is just a term. the step of creating it is here ..

RUU is the standard HTC rom.
The latest one is build 1.84.832

but the early version ( when i bought my DHD ) is build 1.32
you can do this step if you want to revert to build 1.32

please be aware that if you use build other than 1.32, you can't root. you will just stuck there (unless you downgrade back to 1.32)

He is only trying to unroot, not unbrand.
Just get a RUU that matches your current build number, and run it. Simple

Good morning Developers and community
As i'm completely new to HTC devices, flashing, rooting, and so on ... i've got a short question for you all
Actually i'm on an Austrian (A1) branded and simlocked HTC Desire HD with a Vodafone_fr branding (yes the provider uses that *** branding)
Android Version: 2.3.3
HTC Sense: 2.1
Baseband: 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M
Kernel: 2.6.35.10-gd2564fb
Build: 2.50.163.3 CL123205 release-keys
Software: 2.50.163.3
As i want to get rid of al these annoying pre-installed trial apps and as i want to recieve OTA updates in time and not when the provider is ready to send them (if they do ...) i decided to root the device by using the
new aahk tool to try to get 2.3.4 or higher for my DHD somehow
This aahk worked perfect for my device, no problems at all and i could get rid of all these apps, freeing some memory in my device
As this tool roots, Radio s-off, sets super cid, removes the simlock on this phone
i'm currently not able to get ota updates from anywhere (if i got that right from all the threads i read)
Now i was thinking about flashing the device with a htc rom and found this one on shipped-roms:
RUU_Ace_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.50.405.2_Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2_release_199042_signed.exe
The questions i have to you all are:
- is this the correct RUU for my device
- if i flash the device with an RUU, i'm i able to get OTA updates or do i have to set it to Radio S-ON manually again.
- if so - how ?
- is the simlock still removed with an RUU flash ?
i don't care if i have root access or not as i only want to have a clean installation without any provider c**p on my device

- yes 2.50.405.2 is the latest official RUU
- You don't need to be S-ON to get OTA
- This RUU doesn't contain anything for Simlock (as it is operator specific)
Have you flashed a custom recovery like 4EXT or CMW? If not then flashing it will help you to flash between different custom ROMs..

Wow thank you so much for your quick reply!
Hm good question. I just used the aahk tool to get rid of the sim lock and to get root access.
I did not install any rom so far.
The tool also set a SuperCID. Don't know if i matters or not.
According to the tool, the clockworkmod is installed and i can see it in the bootloader and i already did a backup of my rom to the SD card.
(go to recovery -> ClockworkMod v5.0.2.0)
But will the CWM still remain after the RUU flash !?
Thought, that it will be overwritten and the phone un-rooted

Good news, if u already have clockwork recovery installed than no need to flash the ruu as it will overwrite recovery. You can either try my GB Sense 3.0 or i can give u an optimized / rooted 2.50.x build if u want

Trying to summarize:
- OTA does not work with both of them if i got it right
- if I flash with 2.50.x RUU build from HTC i can re-root this build again using the aahk tool (should work with 2.50) and i have an unbranded rootet DHD without any provider apps again.
- if I take your optimized build i don't need to re-root it (what's the "optimized" part in your build? )
- if I take GB Sense 3.0 then I have a "brand new" rooted? DHD and I can go back to the rom i currently have.
any recommendations?

If u flash 2.50 via ruu it'll remove custom recovery & rooting. U'll still get OTA with it.
If u flash a pre-rooted / optimized 2.50 build, ur custom recovery will remain & u'll get OTA..
If u flash GB Sense 3.0 since it is a leaked version so i don't think any chances of OTA, however u can flash any rom u want..

Change from Chinese ROM to WWE?

Hello there,
Before posting this, I`ve tried to find the solution on the forum, but with no success, as far as I could see. I have a Chinese One X with:
1.26.708.2 software
2.6.39.4-g6b459dc kernel
1.1204.90.13 baseband.
I want to flash RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_Europe_1.26.401.2_Radio_1.1204.90.13_release_251208_signed.exe, but it says error (wrong CID, of course). I`ve rooted the phone via htcdev, installed recovery and SU, tried again to flash the same official ROM, but still error. It seems that CID is not changed or set to SUPER CID with this root procedure. how can I flash this ROM, if it`s safe, of course. I need this particular ROM because of the language packs that has inside, and I don`t want to put a custom ROM.
is there any way to change CID, or to repack the RUU to a file that can be flashed thru recovery? as i could se , the baseband from the phone and the RUU is the same, if is of any use.

You need "S-Off" for flashing any RUU. Without S-Off, no chance to flash this RUU.
So far, nothing available yet, to get "S-Off"...

ok, I`ll try to find the way to S-Off One X, I didn`t search for that
but what about flashing this WWE to a Chinese One X? will it be a problem, as it is in fact a downgrade?

there's no solution to your problem yet, if you want you can search for your answer on bbs.qdppc.com .

mm.. first that might be a Taiwanese version since China ends with x.xx.1400. as for me it did.
Why dont you want to put a custom rom now that you have unlocked your phone anyways? Android revolution HD is like a stock one but it has some improvements to performance and languages for everybody. There is also a 1.26 stock rom from mike1986 just google it and you will find it. Install a custom rom with stock look and language for now, make a backup before and when there is S-OFF you can restore and do what ever you want

I can confirm that Android Revolution HD ROM from mike1986 has solved the problem, it has all the languages from WWE file!!!

HELP: TIM RUU or ROM needed

Hi,
So I think I semi bricked my phone. Have unlocked bootloader, custom TRWP recovery and basicaly at this level everything works. Got no backup and booting doesn't work.
I have the following:
Version: 2.17.901.4
CID: TIM-401
Radio 2.1204.135.20
Can I flash another ROM that works?(doubt it because of CID) Would appreciate it if someone can upload a backup which I can use for this. Can anyone with a TIM branded phone make a backup?
P.S Hate HTC for not giving S-OFF. This stupid unlock doesn't do even half of the things we need.

well, you can install every ICS rom out there, unfotunately you can't install JB yet due to the missing firmware

You sure? So ICS will work well but JB won't. Anyone else can confirm this?

For JB you need to wait for HBOOT Ver 1.33

You have 2 options
1- first option is to get stock ICS to you device
2- you can download a custom rom from here ,CM10,liquidsmooth, or AOKP
you can go to ONE X ANDROID Development section then to *HTC ONE X* - Indexed listing of roms, kernels, guides, tools & mods there you will find and index to all custom recoveries and stock roms you need

also sense ICS will work, you can't run only JB Sense rom....

i just got my new one X 16gb the one with quad core
i have hboot 1.12
cid htc_001
android 4.0.4
htc sense 4.1
and no jb update until now
i want to unlock bootlocker and root the device my question is , i have to do something else first ?

also befor you unlock boot and root it you may want to download the latest rru from htcruu for your cid which will give you latest hboot and save you the time in unlocking bootloader twice if you want to use a jellybean rom

You can root and flash CM10 on your existing hboot also. but updating your hboot is recomended as with that youll be able to flash CM10 as well as the newer ROMS which are being developed on android 4.2.
here is a noob friendly tool that will help you to flash the new firmware.

you can proceed with the rooting pocess then.

In fact, he wont be able to use gps on cm10 with the new hboot.
