The past few days I have had to run fix permissions at least once a day. If I don't, short presses are interpreted as long presses on the hardware keys. Running CM10.1 nightly, but it happens across ROMs.

It's an issue with all 4.2.2-based ROMS. I don't know the solution (not much of a programmer myself), but it's being worked on.

I'm not having any issues with ICS. You should only be getting that issue with JellyBean ROMS.

YES!!! I've been saying this for awhile now lol. Don't know how to get rid of it. I've tried to flash with both trwp and cwm6 to no avail. Sad about it :'( my usual go to roms are cm9 and tdjs dark side v8. No more cm9 now.

See the funny thing is I dont have that issue with jellybean roms anymore... And this did NOT happen to me on previous cm 9 builds. This only started happening ever since I started flashing jellybean builds

I sure do...and I'm running the latest nightly. Nothing seems to help it though.

I know you guys are looking for ways to eliminate flickering on cm9 but the cm10 flickering issue has many different solutions. I am quite sure they can be attempted on cm9 as well. First off though I think you guys should list what you have done to remedy the situation so people just don't inform you of what you already tried.

That's the thing.. its an issue with cm9 itself. I've tried disabling gpu rendering, flashing that useless gpu mod, fully wiping with both trwp and cwm6 touch.. not sure what else I can do.

Interesting... I just flashed cm9 9-30 nightly last night and i don't experience this screen flickering, or at least i'm not noticing it if it's happening.
I'm using sk8's cwm6.0.1.4 and I just followed the instructions on TC's webpage. And I just came from erick's cm10 9-28 nightly. Don't know if this'll help, but that's what I did and I don't see any screen flickering. What's the best way to reproduce this issue? I can try and report back if I see it or not.

Go into your settings, pull your notifications down half way then swipe them back up. The screen should flicker black.

Yup, I'm also seeing a small flicker as well. I couldn't get it reproduced every time, but if I played around with the notification pull down about half way and then swiped them back up, the screen does flicker black.
Is it only from settings that you see this? I tried from my home screen, and I didn't see any flicker.
EDIT: If I go only 1/3 of 1/4 of the way with the pull down in Settings, I can reproduce the flicker every time I believe.

It happens in all apps except the homescreen. For me, it does not matter if you pull it 1/3 or 1/4 or 1/2 or all the way down... the chance of it flickering when you drag it back up is about 20%
edit: I have the 9/30/12 nightly build installed. The flickering is not an issue for me and I use this ROM as my daily driver.
Same here. it appears randomly for me. i see no trend. also at times my data stays on E. but overall i love it.

I'm going to flash the 9/30 nightly with trwp and see what happen. I'm going to try to flash without installing gapps to see if that has any effect.

What from were you on previously? I'm starting to think remnants from the last rom are causing it.

Try adjusting the build.prop entry below:
debug.mdpcomp.maxlayer=3
change it to ->
debug.mdpcomp.maxlayer=1
....this might or might not fix the flickering issue.

Hey everyone,
I'm running 01/06/13 CM10.1 and have been having an odd issue. Its been occurring since flashing 4.2.1 so it may be a 4.2.1 issue...
I'm running a d2att, twrp 2.3.3.1, cm10.1 i747.
Occasionally, probably twice a day, for an unknown reason, my hardware keys act like they are being held in instead of a regular single touch when pressed. This is causing Recent App List to pop up on a single touch of the home key and Google Voice to come up when single pressing the menu key.
Thinking this was an issue with CM10.1 I disabled hardware key shortcuts in the CM settings but I am still having issues (due to the default mapping).
Only temporary solution is a reboot, but it just happens again a few hours later.
Is anyone else having this issue? Is this a known issue? ...and are there any fixes? Thanks!

You should probably try another rom (make a nandroid so you can go back easily and quickly) just to see if it is hardware or software. That is what I would do, it is a hassle though I know.
I'll give it a try. kinda wanted to try slim bean anyway. I'll report back and let everyone know how it goes after a couple days =)

hey just saw this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085171(10.1 known issues) remembered seeing your thread about this issue.
Your problem is one of 10.1's issues, so it is most likely software.
Thanks for finding that!! =) Now I won't be left wondering if its my phone while I test new ROMs =) I decided to flash Tasks AOKP and am very happy. As of today in call volume and speaker distortion were fixed. I think I'll stay on this one a while. Just wish it had lock screen shortcuts. =p

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has run into this glitch: Randomly my phone will register all touch input (as well as the home button) as long pressing. I end up having to restart my phone in order to clear the glitch. I've encountered it on several different 4.2.2 ROMs.
Any thoughts on what to do to fix this?
Edit: Of course right after I hit post I find the thread that lists the long press glitch here's the link incase anyone else can't find it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085171(10.1
It's a fairly well known problem on all 4.2.x ROMs. No known fix beyond rebooting as a temporary fix.

Its not all 4.2 ROMs. Its primarily CM. I have run AOKP, Rootbox, Liquid and Carbon and never had the issue. Only on CM did I experience this.

Anyone ever have the home, menu, back, and search keys not function properly? Doesn't seem to be an issue with the ROM as I have tried a couple and have the problem on both all of a sudden.
By not function properly, I mean not function at all. Hitting those buttons has no effect.
Any ideas?

Started happening on ascension oblivion after about 3 weeks of using the ROM. Switched to chillybeans cm10.1 to see if that would fix it but no luck. I have also tried doing a few full wipes and reinstalling both ROMs.
Thinking about going back to stock to see if that fixes it, but really don't want to.

Turning them on didn't seem to fix my issue. However turning them off completely and using the navbar in cm 10.1 is working for me for now. Thanks for the tip.
Is it possible that the buttons not working is a hardware issue?

Do you have a screen protector on? I've never heard of em having issues though sorry to say.. of course i twist mine a little side to side outta boredom.. Semi take it apart you might have dust or dirt in there
No, don't have a screen protector on. I haven't heard of them not working either. Unfortunately, my phone is my only source of internet access for the next few days. So its not easy to do much research.

Hey all.
I have had an issue for a long time on deodexed fc09 roms. I thought it was an issue with the specific rom I was using but think it is an issue with the rom that rom was built on. I am using the stock (for the first time) fc09 posted that is deodexed and has su and I think some kernel tweaks built in and I notice the same issue. My 4g sleeps and does not promptly wake upon an attempt at data transmission. Frequently I wait 5 seconds and often even need to refresh the page or action. Anyone have a clue as to why or whay I can change to improve it?

Mine does that. I hardly ever use 4g unless I'm downloading a large file. So it was never a big deal for me. I don't remember if it did it on eclair or froyo roms. Its been so long...
