[Q] Any problem hiding/blocking an update like this? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

So i was trying to hide the update notification till a zip got put up for MB1 (thanks freeza) so when i pulled down the status bar to view the update i pressed and held it till it popped up with "app info" i then clicked that and it gave me "google framework " i unchecked "show notifications " and the update went away from my status bar.. my question is will this effect anything important from happening besides sys updates? Im hoping this method is safer then trying to do it with root explorer or titanium ..

Afraid to click the notification icon LOL

Yes I know not to install the OTA update.
But here's my question...so there's this notification bar icon, you've all seen it. When I pull down the notification bar it says "System update is available. Tap to download the system update." You already knew this.
But here's the thing...I'm afraid to tap it. I'm hoping it will give me a confirmation dialog so I can refuse the update, but I'm not 100% sure and don't want to take the chance.
So extremely noobish question here, but what EXACTLY happens when I tap "tap to download the system update" - do I get any kind of an "are you sure?" confirmation prompt so I can say no?
If you have root explorer, you can go to /system/app/ and uninstall SprintUpdater.apk, reboot and the nag should be gone.
I don't have SprintUpdate.apk but I do have Updater.apk and Updater.odex. Should I delete Updater.apk? Any additional consequences I should be aware of?
Well I went to Menu, Settings, System Updates, HTC software update, unchecked the box, confirmed, rebooted...and the notification icon is gone.

[Q] How to delete downloaded system update and prevent future updates/notifications?

Im still on KitKat and want to stay that way, but my N7 has automatically downloaded Lollipop and has the notification to install. How can I remove this notification, delete this update to free up space, and prevent it from happening again?
I know this must have been covered someplace else, but Ive spent the last 20 minutes searching and havent found a definitive answer....
Thanks!
I got this from some thread here.
Depends if you are rooted or not.
If rooted, you need to disable 3 receivers. To do so use one of the apps:
Autorun Manager, or
Autostarts (free in F-Droid).
The 3 receivers to disable :
service:com.google.android.gms.update.SystemUpdateService$Receiver
(this will run on boot competed).
com.google.android.gms.update.SystemUpdateService$ActiveReceiver-
(this will check for OTA on connectivity change).
com.google.android.gms.update.SystemUpdateService$SecretCodeReceiver
(this will check for OTA when your phone "handles" the secret code).
.........
If not rooted, I "think" you can go to
Settings / apps
Go to All tab
Select "Google Play Services" and unselect "show notifications".
This second method has some disadvantages but I don't remember what they are.
Hope this helps.
I'm in autostarts and seemingly have all of these disabled (I am rooted) as seen in the screenshot, but still getting the update notification (as also seen in the screenshot).
Thoughts?

Bump for an answer. Would like to know this too
I found this yesterday:
Download System Tuner, free from google play (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccc71.pmw&hl=en)
Open App
Click Startups
Navigate to Google Play Services - If you do not see this in the list, press add in the bottom right hand quarter and navigate to it
press and hold over Google Play Services
Press Open
Press Details
Press Activities
Navigate to update.SystemUpdateActivity and uncheck it
restart phone
This did the trick for me. I am unsure whether this also removes other notifications from google, but it certainly got rid of the annoying "system update downloaded" notification.
Or better still if you are using xposed framework download the NotifyClean module. Let the Update System notification appear after a reboot and then select it in NotifyClean to get rid of it. Brilliant!

Unless I'm mistaken, all this is doing is hiding the notification. While that's great, the notification currently says "System update downloaded", so my assumption is space is being taken up by this download which I'd really like to clear up.
With the issues many have reported running Lollipop on the N7, I'm really surprised there isnt a common, well known process for this.
Then try my message #5 above.

That's more or less the same thing... just disabling the notification. Also interested I'm how to delete the existing download.

[Q] Still Getting System Update Msg and other things

I rooted without any issues and then went to turn off OTA by entering 3845#*yourversionnumber# and pressing Disable in WLAN OTA.
I am still getting the notification that the Upgrade is downloaded and ready to be installed. Is there a way to get rid of this? I tried to find the file (looked in Cache folder) but could not find it.
Thanks in advance

Try clearing data on "download manager" in application manager.
I just got the notification and can't get rid of it either. Long press on notification -> app info takes me to Google Play Services.
I'm not sure how I can clear out the notification. I've already renamed LGFOTA.apk and cleared cached and DISABLED OTA in hidden menu.

How to get rid of search bar in recents menu ?

I disabled Google in my Zenfone, but there is blank space left "Couldn't add widget". How to get rid of it ? I already tried Safe mode, but i got Launcher and SystemUI FC. Now i'm trying to clean cache and re-flash newest firmware.

Disable "Software Update Available" notification in rooted 6.0.1 [JasmineROM]

Disable "Software Update Available" notification in rooted 6.0.1 [JasmineROM]
I used the hsbadr's guide to upgrade to CM13, but stopped after JasmineROM [rooted] was loaded.
Root and Xposed and work great, but I can't get rid of the notification:
Software update available
Tap to install new software
Long pressing the notification changes it to
System updates (i)
[Current Time]
Long pressing the (i) button takes me the application notification menu where I can "Set as priority", "Previews in pop-ups", "Hide noti. on Lock screen", and "Hide sensitive content" but no option to disable notifications for this particular app or system process sending it.
I've seen posts that have suggested using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice&hl=enDisable Service to disable certain services and reboot, but so far no luck. The notification always comes back.
Any advice? Maybe I'm not selecting the right service.
Update: I found https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/help/how-to-off-update-ota-notifications-t3391641 this thread, and used TiBu to freeze the two "System update 1.0" applications.
So far so good. Posting it here in case anyone else has the same issue.
