Backing up contact linkages... Google, Facebook, whatsapp... - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I have all my contacts sync with my Google account. One thing that can be done on the note 2 is linking the same contact together across Facebook, whatsapp and linkedin.
I would like to back up this information so I dun have to re-link them again should I change phones. Is this possible?
If so, how does one get to it?
Thanks.

Thanks, mate. Yes it's rooted. I have backed up contact storage, just not sure if that's where all the information is stored.
Thanks for confirming.
Cheers

Whats the point of syncing to your samsung account.?

In the samsung account it has both backup and sync settings.
The backup is ok for sms, mms, call log and wallpaper, and I ve used it a couple of times to restore these things when its had a more recent backup than titanium.
My question relates to the sync to samsung account option for contacts, calendar, internet and s note. The only thing I see usefull here is the s note as the others are handled by your Google account. But although I have the sync enabled and my s notes have a little cloud in the corner, I've noticed there is no restore function, so if you wipe your phone and want to restore the notes synced to your samsung account, I cant see a way to do it?
Maybe I'm missing something but I'm not sure I see the point of syncing to the cloud if data can't be retrieved when needed?

Actually if u delete them they will be deleted in Samsung account but if u factory reset it they will be there as soon as u add your account

You can use sync and back it up to your Google docs

I had to factory reset my wifes s3 a couple of days ago after a few fcs with thenew leaked firmware, all her s notes had the little cloud in the corner but when I re-synced with her samsung account, it didn't restore her notes which is why I don't think the sync is much use

Have you made a nandroid backup or titanium backup...that will have your contacts...else i guess there is no other way...however if i find one..i ll get back to u..!!
:good:
Surely your Google contacts are on Google servers? www.google.com/contacts
But i guess the OP says that he has deleted google account contacts..i dont knw if he means to say whether he deleted them of google servers or from his phone..!!
Google have a history of them anyway, you can revert to an older version of your phone book from that link.
OK thats great...!! great to knw that..ll keep it in mind..!!
Cheers..!!

[Q] Text messaging app question

As someone who keeps flashing different roms, titanium backup is a life saver. One thing I can't get it to do is restore all my texts each flash. Anyone have any suggestions for an app that can do this?

Mybackup root from the play store. You can backup SMS, MMS, APN settings, call logs, and other settings. I use it for those mentioned above.

Titanium Backup backs up and restores my text messages successfully with each rom flash I do.
I use sms backup +
It backs up sms/mms/call logs to your gmail account so its good in that I can limit the number of aged texts sitting on my phone knowing everything is backed up and also I can use gmail search to find any aged text I want quickly.
The auto backup feature is also handy once its set you can forget about it.
Restoring is also quick and easy.

Just happened to me too!!! WTH????
Maybe some error on samsungs side.
Try this.
Backup s note folder.
Then disable sync.
Then chat data for s note and cave if there is any.
Then restore the backup.
These steps might lead to data loss so be careful.

This could be beneficial should one accidentally delete something before or without backing up, assuming it actually works. I haven't tried it, just passing it on for those that might find it useful at some point. I'm thinking of more the recovery part of it over the backing up part. I often see posts by others wanting to recover deleted texts. I'm planning on downloading it, just in case. You never know in a pinch.
