Almost new FL24, rooted. Everything has been fine but during the middle of downloading an app over wifi, I had a battery failure and the phone shut down. Once restarted, the phone will connect to the wifi network but it is not able to download or connect to the internet. It works fine over the mobile network but as soon as it's connected to wifi, all data transmission stops. Any ideas?

This was just happening to me, now in my case is was my wireless router turning on and off by itself, so had to get a new one, so you may want to check that.

The network is fine. Multiple devices both wired and wireless. Everything's working pefectly except the phone.
Try it on someone else's WiFi network. Use a secured network wpa.
I encountered a similar issue with my wifi router, 2 roku's, ps3 , 2 laptops, tv and 1 other epic touch running gb. Everything on my network was aok, my epic on jb was not connecting but was visiting my friend and I logged onto his network, boom instant connection. I was also able to log into local pub using a pw.
Well, I replaced my 4yr old router with a Netgear N600 dual band, no more connection issues.

The phone connects to the network. Connecting to the network is not the problem. I can see the phone on the network when it connects. I can see the ip adress the router hands out to the phone once it's connected. When I turn off wifi on the phone I can watch it drop off the network and then watch it come back on and recieve an ip address when I turn wifi back on. It is not the network or any other network device. Thanks for the suggestions as they are appreciated but the problem is with my phone. Any other ideas?
Gee it sounds like your modem or radio got borked, try a reboot or d/l and reinstall your modem or diff modem.

I have an HTC EVO 4G running FreshEvo 4.1.1.0
The WiFi was working fine without a hitch until recently. It seems that since I upgraded to FreshEvo 4.1.1.0 and updated the radios with the patch, that this is when the problem started.
Now, the WiFi connection "locks up" intermittently and I have to reboot my TrendNet TEW-633GR router so that the phone will connect to it again at least for awhile.
The symptoms are: The WiFi connection with my home router will be fine for awhile. Then, it will not work.
I still get an IP address from the router and the WiFi settings says it's connected. But the connection doesn't work until I reboot the router. But the router isn't really the problem because other phones and my laptop can connect to the router even if the HTC cannot.
To the best as I can tell, the WiFi connection on the HTC locks up when:
A) I run the Roku Remote Control app and something unexpected happens like the app does a force close. The Roku Remote app uses Telnet, I believe.
B) I'm connected by WiFi at home, then leave and the phone switches to 3G. When I come back home, the WiFi between my phone and my router is locked up. However, if I connect to WiFi at another location, it works fine at the other location. Also, I can still connect to my home router with WiFi from my laptop or another phone.
Does anyone have this problem too, or a solution?
Thanks

I would have a go at flashing an alternative radio ROM onto the EVO first. This should be pretty simple if you've already changed ROMs and have a custom recovery.
My phone's wifi capabilities have been working fine until about 2 months ago when it stopped connecting to some of the wifi networks such as my campus wifi.
I have 2 routers at home. One being the Linksys E3000 that's broadcasting two SSID's. The Epic Touch sees them on the list but can't connect to neither of them. It can however connect to my Dlink router and all of the older ones I have at home.
While connected to the Dlink, it can't communicate with other devices on the same network via apps such as remote or Airsync. When tried pinging the phone's ip on a computer, it returned with timeouts. Samsung Kies has stopped working as well.
Does anyone have a solution to my problems? Is there a setting on the phone that I am overlooking?
Bump.

flash EL29 stock, run for a few days, see if its software related? See if theres some router settings that it doesnt like??
Actually I am already on EL29.
Problem solved
what wifi issues are on the epic touch 4g?
For some reason, my Wifi connectivity on my GNexus has gotten really bad lately. I'm trying to connect to my home router (Netgear WNDR3400), and it gets stuck on a loop at obtaining IP address then avoided poor connection and it keeps reseting back and forth. It only manages to connect maybe 20 mins in the day and it looses the connection again.
Reseting the router only fixes the problem momentarily then the next day it can't connect again. The router is working perfectly fine in my house w/ the computer and laptops. iPhone and HTC Thunderbolt are also perfectly fine.
What can I do to fix this?

Have you tried assigning a static ip address to the phone?
Also what type of network? My phone does it on a 802.1 wireless b network with identity security (individual uname and password to connect) Which is what my university uses... annoying it was, but i found out that foxfi was causeing the issue. But im assuming your home network isnt like that.
How do I assign a static IP to the phone?
My router is 802.11n. And it has network security, secured by WPA/WPA2 to be exact.
App called WiFi static will let you set a static IP within a dhcp network. You probably can do it through your router as well. I would read up on static vs dhcp if you have never set up a static IP before. Also you'll want to see what all of the clients ips are so you don't create a duplicate.

Is there another solution other than that?

Anyone having this issue on the Verizon stock ROM 4.2.2? I cannot connect to any wifi with DHCP. The only way I can connect is if I enter at static IP. I have tried about a half dozen access points with no luck. I have even done a complete phone wipe of data and tried reconnecting without logging into my google account to sync down my wifi settings. This pretty much prevents me from connecting to any public wifi hotspots unless I can guess their IP range. I have never had anything other than the stock ROM and OTA updates. Is there something somewhere I can clear or reset to fix this? It worked at one time long ago prior to jellybean I think.
My note wont connect to my wifi at home. It connects to work and my hotspot just fine. Also every other device including my nexus 7 connect just fine. What could be causing this?
Try a different access point manufacturer. My fried also has a Note 8 and he had the same issue. His router access point was from TimeWarner. He added a Linksys accesspoint and worked just fine.

Do a little more troubleshooting. If it connects to every network except yours, we can confidently say it's your router. Does it even show up on the list of available networks? Be more specific. What kind of router do you have? is it dual band?

I have the 105mbps internet through Comcast so we have their brand gateway (modem/router combined). Basically what happens is the tablet will connect to the network but has no internet access. It shows everything is OK but as soon as you try to load any website it says webpage not available, the play store won't load, etc. But its weird. All devices listed in my signature connect just fine, and so does my smart TV, ps3, and blue ray player, there is literally nothing else that won't connect.
And yes I've tried the basics of booting everything off the network, changing channels on the modem, changing encryption settings and factory resetting the gateway.

The issue of my Galaxy Note 8.0 (3G vesion) is WiFI unstable connectivity.
All of my devices (3 other tablets and 3 other notebooks ) work well with the access point.
but Note 8.0 is just unstable, taking a lot of time to load data for youtube media app, and webpage .
I had tried a different access point manufacturer, but the issue remains.
I had upload some YouTube video ( but voice is using Chinese/Mandarin lagauage)

I've had the same issue with the same Comcast router. Every other device works except for the Note 8.
Just bought a note 8.. also have comcast modem router with phone combo.. same issue. Connects fine but internet wont work. Huge bummer which I think is going to make me return it and get an ipad mini instead.

Why would you gimp your self in to a less capable tablet because your ISP's god-awful router doesn't meet the standard? Seriously, you would be doing your self a HUGE favor by going and getting a real router and dropping that crappy gateway/access point off your monthly bill (you are likely renting that POS from comcast.)

Exactly, especially with APs being so cheap these days.

I'm having the same problem with my brand new Netgear router. I have a feeling this problem is similar to the issue the Note 2 wifi has. Unfortunately, on the Note 2 there's a code you can enter on the phone interface that allows you to turn of it's wifi power saver mode (that's what causes the problem on the Note 2). With no phone interface, I'm not sure how to get to that setting on the Note 8. Changing it on my Note 2 made a TON of difference though. On the Note 2 the code is *#0011# in the dialer. Anyone got any ideas?
Same problem here with one of my routers. It works for a second or two then disconnects. The only way to get the Note working was to disable wifi G and N modes on the router, and only use B mode.

I'm not sure what my problem is. When I connect my Note 4 to my wifi it says that my network may not provide internet. In addition, it shows "(secured)" next to my SSID name. The phone then connects to the internet, but it doesn't have internet. I think the problem has to do with the fact that my wifi is being brodcasted on 5Ghz. I attached an image of my wifi settings. Does anyone have any ideas of what to change on the router or my phone? Thanks.
As pathetic as it sounds, I simply restarted my phone and reconnect to the network at it is working great. Go figure.
