[Q] How to Unbrick Galaxy Wonder phone without home button? - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

wonder is hard bricked and can't work home button. how to unbrick this device? (excluding jig)

W/o jig? Then SSC is your last desperate choice (If you are still in a 1-year warranty).
Just NEVER TELL the CS about ROOT or SU (If they know it, your warranty will be suddenly void). Just say you want to update value pack from Kies, then it said successful. But your phone doesn't turn on!
Yep, it is a huge success!

please help on a bricked/dead i780

Hi all experts,
I am a newbie on this. I am in Canada, since here we dont have i780, so I brought it on ebay and didn't realize its not really an unlock phone.(been cheated) although is sim free but GPS and many other 3rd party app don't work. so i was looking for solutions and found your thread here.
I followed the flashing guide and everything seems to be ok until the russians rom is flashed. The phone turned off itself and cannot turn on anymore. I have tried holding ENTER and FUNCTION button, solf reset hole, and Start + End buttons to turn it on but it doesn't response at all.
I have spent my hard earned $500 on this phone and i am so depressed now... Please kindly help me on fixing my "not just bricked, but dead phone" or i have to save up for months for a new one... sigh..
your response is highly appreciated
Jack
I feel your pain and I had the same issue as you before.
Phone won't turn on after flashing and the mirage reported the flash was 100% done.
I suspect this is due to the samsung modem driver was not installed properly. I had forgotten to do a reboot after the driver install or it might be due to something else.
The way I fixed it was to send to ther service center as it is still under warranty. They had to replace some chips to make it work again and I think that might be your last hope.
thanks for your advise. I did install the samsung modem driver and did reboot the PC before starting mirage updater..... but somehow turn that way.
I brought it from ebay, do you think it can still be warranty? anyways.. gotta try my luck.
thanks tho
I just contacted Canada's samsung service centre. They said They dont have this model here in Canada, so cannot fix my phone.
Please, anyone can give me a hand?
What about a hard reset? have you try it?
try to re load the rom.. i am using HH1 for phone and HH5 for the PDA... works good... with the russian ROM PU (if i am not wrong) i had to load few times as the process stopped at 80% or so... and u can load the ROM from this thread without loading the PU rom..
i have the same troubled too~~

[TIP|UNTESTED]Revive your bricked Defy

I got this idea from my past (when I had Samsung Galaxy Ace), that it got bricked while flashing a firmware, because I forgot to put a certain file to its firmware flashing software called ODIN. So, I recalled that it can be revived by doing certain steps and guess what? IT WORKED! I didn't tested this on my Defy, since I got it recently and didn't ended up in bricked situation. The only things you need are, Moto RSD, suitable SBF and last but not the least 3 hands, yes I repeat 3 hands (It is just used to be on the safer side )
So here we go, test it out, and report if this method works.
1. Launch up RSD and load the desired SBF.
2. Remove your phone's battery.
3. Press Volume UP and Power Button.
NOTE: DON'T RELEASE THIS COMBINATION UNTIL YOU SUCCESSFULLY DO THE STEP 5!
NOTE 2: Now this is where third hand comes in use.
4. While holding the 2 key combination, connect the USB.
5. Now again, not releasing the combination, insert the battery.
6. See if phone is recognised by RSD.
7. Now if the above steps work and phone is recognised, hit up the START button immidietly.

Rogers S3 Bricked.

Hello everyone.
I have tried searching a few threads but i have not found the right info i needed. Here is my story. I am also sorry i am new to Android so i have no knowledge of what Rooting & such is.
I bought a S3 from someone on Kijiji. The phone worked fine & he told me he JUST unlocked the device. I said alright & went ahead & bought the phone from him. I came home & looked at the device. The Device Status said " Modified" What does that mean?. I started downloading apps & a app called "SuperUser" wanted permissions to some apps i downloaded. So searched & found it it was rooted because of that app.
After that i downloaded " Rom Manager" seeing as a few people told me to do it to check if it has been trully rooted. ( Bad idea). I did the Factory reset from there & boom the phone just shut off & never came back alive. Did all the reset that everyone said & nothing. Computer wont even see its on or anything. Odin wont show anything either " Thinking he may have rooted it" I tried charging it & nothing. I tried the Vol down, power & home button but nothing will show up. Black screen. When i take the battery out & plug the phone on the charger the red LED comes on but comes off after a few seconds.
Seeing as it may be hardbricked, i contacted Rogers & they are sending me out a replacement S3 for $35. The thing is i want to ask you guys, will they see if it has been truly rooted & such? Rogers tech support agent told me they send it to Samsung & they deal with it & if they see its been rooted i will be charged around $600 for the refurbished device they are sending me. The phone was warranty until Sept 13, 2013.
So all in all, what does "Modified" On the device status mean & will Samsung see if it has been rooted if the phone won't even power on or anything at all? I am just worried that i will have to pay $600 fee for the refurb device.
Thank you for you time & i am sorry if this has been answered somewhere.
Bump for any help. Thanks

What exactly did you do in Rom Manager? Did you flash a recovery from there and say choose the wrong recovery? If so you hard bricked it for sure cause it will have written the recovery to the wrong partition (most likely the bootloader partition). If you did not do that, then need exact info on what you did inside Rom Manager.
MODIFIED on the status only means its rooted, thats all, nothing bad.

BTW to answer your other question, Samsung will probably not be able to tell it was rooted since from your description you clearly hard bricked it to the point where the bootloader was wiped. So Samsung would have to re-write that bootloader which takes JTAG work for them to find out your phone was rooted, I doubt they will do that, plenty of others have been in your situation and Samsung as replaced it without a problem. I dont think their service dept goes to the level of JTAG'ing a device to check if it rooted or check what happened.
Hello Dixit & thank you for the reply.
I opened up Rom Manager & pressed the " Reboot into Recovery" Once i pressed that, the phone just shut off & never came back alive ever again. The person that sold me it STILL says he never rooted the phone. Of course we all know why but anyways. I did all the power trickes like holding down the Vol down, Home & power button & nothing comes up at all.
Before all this happened i did see the Status saying " Modified" That is why i asked about it. Rogers techs told me that Samsung will try & force the phone to wake up or force the software back into the phone. They told me if Samsung find out its been rooted, it will cost $600 for me to pay for the refurb device. Funny thing is Refurb S3 from Telus is at $349.99 yet Rogers claims Samsung will charge $600 for it..
Anyways i am a bit worried as well.

Holding Volume Down + Home + Power won't boot it into Download Mode at all? If it's a firmware issue you'd just need to get to download mode to reflash via ODIN.

Well first off what the previous owner did isnt harmful as it was just rooted and was working fine when you got it. You can easily unroot and clear everything including putting it back to original stock recovery in about 30mins.
Now on your issue, I dont know if Rom Manager attempted to flash a recovery or not, normally just hitting the Reboot into Recovery basically issues a ADB Recovery command that just tells the phone to boot into recovery, that is not harmful in anyway. Looks more like the RomManager flashed a recovery and did so by flashing something that is not for the GS3 which then wiped the bootloader partition and basically hard bricked it.
If you too scared to send it to Samsung, then pay the $50 some dollars it costs to have the JTAG service done by MobiletechVideos

Nope wont help here, the bootloader partition looks like it got wiped out, nothing you can do except JTAG it at this point. If the SAMSUNG doesnt come up or the phone dont vibrate its toast. I had the same issue happen, same results of how just the LED comes on for 5secs and then goes off. Computer wont see anything except QUSB_DLOAD on the Device Manager. Meaning it would only work if someone had the QPST tool files to revive it but to date no one has those files or information.

Ouch.. that's rough..
I was hoping for his sake it was something much simpler.. lol
You should be able to force the phone into download mode with a Jig. Before you do that, I'd recommend doing some research to figure out what you need to do to properly re-image the phone.
And this is why those new to android should really do their research before modding their devices...I suggest every new android user read up on ADB and get that properly setup on their PC...ADB is very handy!!!! I have never once used an app to flash a recovery for a phone as choosing the wrong one can wipe bootlader partitions as seems to be the case here...I use either fast boot or ADB..using this I can double check to make sure I have selected the correct recovery and that it will flash to the proper partition...to the OP chances are Samsung won't go far as performing a JTAG in which case they won't see the phone is rooted and will just send you out a new phone...if you'd rather not deal with Samsung get in touch with mobiletechvideos and pay for the JTAG as another user has recommended.. its actually a great service as it makes your device essentially brick proof after the JTAG mod.

I won't be rooting my other one seeing as I do NOT know how to root and such. I do not want to ruin this one. Also when I went into Rom Mer I pressed " reboot to recovery" that's how the phone stopped working. I have no idea what the other person did on it.

Btw whether he did anything to it or not, it's not his fault that your phone bricked. There's nothing he could've done that would brick your phone just by going into recovery.

Odin a stock rogers firmware thats all you gotta do bud it would unroot your device and allow you to get past that screen. and then you can reroot if you want to

[Q] Can't unroot and lock phone, what to do?

Finally somewhat fixed the phone, was on CM9 and had major issues with bugs, stuck on bootloader, etc. Recovered back to when I first rooted, but usb won't recognize phone, won't even charge through usb, so I think the port is broken. Problem is, I claimed the broken phone under warranty months ago, but forgot to fix and send in. Need to do that now, but since I can't unroot the thing, should I send it back and hope for the best or tell them I've since lost the phone and see if they will let me claim it under asurion? Thanks in advance!
Download a ROM/Kernel not for your device and flash. It won't boot and with the broken usb is for all intents and purposes bricked. Should be enough to pass the cursory check assurion/carriers give.

No worries about the unlocked symbol under google? They won't even be able to get to it?
The only other option is to try using adb wireless to push a stock zip to at least be on a stock rom. 9/10 technicians won't think there's anything to the unlocked symbol and the 1 that would probably wouldn't care. In my early days with Android I must've gone through 4 Evo's and didn't bother to re lock a single one. Never heard anything about it.

[Q] Will warranty service knows if my device is rooted and unlocked?

Hi guys! I want to send my Nexus 7 (2013) to warranty service because it's bricked and I think the motherboard is destroyed. Will the service understand that the device is unlocked (bootloader) and rooted?
I could be wrong so wait for confirmation from someone else but if it won't even power on I don't think they would know, however if it powers on as far as the white Google logo you can see it is unlocked by the white padlock that is opened at the bottom, or closed lock for locked boot loader.
Sounds like it won't power on though if the main board is dead so I doubt they could know...
If it helps i had an iphone 4 that i jailbroke and it ended up bricked. It wouldnt connect to the computer or anything else. I had the same worry you have and when it was sent off i thought theyd find out. They didnt, and i got a replacement. If it doesnt connect to a computer they just dismantle them for parts. A repair engineer is more expensive to employ than a few idiots with screw drivers.
May be I am wrong about the mainboard. Yeah, I can turn it on, but I can go only to boatloader. It can be connected to computer (only fastboot mode) and there is unlocked padlock.
I guess need to lock the bootloader. But the device does not see any space (free or used) - I was connected it to computer and used a recovery mode with Skipsoft application. May be the memory is dead. It shows that cannot mount any partition. I don't know. Is there any way to lock the bootloader?
I am guessing you used Wug's root toolkit to unlock. I have seen others relock there's when there has been problems similar to yours, maybe check his thread out and ask in there.
Yep, I used his toolkit. But I tried every button in the application but nothing worked. I'll try to search deeper. I'm so afraid because I bought the device 1 month ago.

Yeah I know the feeling
I am always worried about devices failing but after I have had it for about a year I wont be so scared and will take more risks with it usually. Only had mine for around 2 weeks and am also worried it could go off at anytime as mine is unlocked and rooted. Lots of people seem to have had problems with this device, my Xperia S never had problems

Try this... http://www.android.gs/restore-un-br...4-3-jelly-bean-twrp-and-root-guides-included/
It might at least get it locked for you....
Thank you! I will try that as soon as I go home...
This is pretty much what danvee posted but still..
If you can use fastboot that's a good sign. You probably don't even need to send it in. Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469508&highlight=stock
You say something about no space? If the above link doesn't get you running again try this first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380913 Worked for me.
You can just flash twrp with "fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img"(without quotes), wipe, then use the steps in the first link.
If that doesn't work it probably is some kind of hardware problem.
I just locked the bootloader. I used the command fastboot oem lock and there is no padlock now. Also Lock state changed to locked. I think now I can return the tablet in the shop.

heres a funny story but what it resulted in and how i fixed it seem to apply to the problem you have.
i have a cracked screen on my nexus and it was registering a touch at intermittent intervals making the device unusable. i posted in here about the same time you did for help. while i was waiting to see if anyone knew if i could just disconnect the screen and use a bluetooth mouse with a hdmi adapter (slimport not mhl, thanks meekrawb) i connected a usb mouse with an otg cable. the mouse worked but i couldnt see how to turn off touch screen as an imput. as kitkat has been release and i hadnt updated i thought i would give it a try and see if that would reset the screen and stop the touch. It downloaded the update and when it rebooted it opened up a mod recovery screen (i forgot that i had rooted it). it asked me to slide a bar on the bootloader screen to continue. The usb mouse cursor was not present on this screen and the touch screen doesnt work so i couldnt get past it. i turned the device off and on again (what else do you do when your stuck) and it would open the google screen with the unlocked padlock but then just stay on a completely black screen. same as yours. I connected it to the computer and it recognised it. i opened wugfresh's root tool kit (old apple jb's sometimes had recovery abilities built into them so i thought this may aswell) i clicked on flash stock and unroot with the radial button on soft bricked and followed the instructions. now my device is unbricked and even the touch has stopped. Happy days hey. you'll need to unlock your boot loader again but its worth a try before going to the store, you can always lock the bootloader again if it doesnt work.
i know it didnt need all this to say "connect it to the root tool kit and try that" but i thought you would enjoy a laugh
Funny story. But my issue is hardware. The device doesn't show any space in it. No free nor used. I think the memory is dead. Also I relocked the bootloader, but now I cannot unlock it again because there is no space
Now when the tablet is with locked bootloader, it is unrooted, right?
Tommorow I will visit the warranty service and hope they don't understand about rooting and unlocking.
according to an email from "google play support India" , the device will be accepted under warranty as long as it has a stock firmware installed when you send in the device to claim the warranty.
