You can use any modem (radio) you want on any ROM. But if you want to change your modem anyway go into Development section In the stickies and look in the roll up sticky thread for the modems one.

You can use Odin to put CWM to ur phone, then flash Super user. All those files and step by step guideline is available as sticky notes in our forum.

Rooting on 4.0.4 UVLH1

Hey everyone!
I'm new to the forums and I'm super excited. I've been wanting to root my SII for over half a year and I've finally built the courage to do so. I've looked through the forums and I found Melvin's post on how to root.
My question is, can I root my SII when its in version 4.0.4 UVLH1 using Melvin's method? (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311194)
Thanks!
Ken
Yes
I don't know from personal experience since I rooted with gingerbread but from reading I heard people having trouble with ics and melvins guide. Sooooo eliminate the doubt and just use this.

Its essentially the same thing. Flash CWM from Odin, then boot into CWM and flash superuser.
Something about superuser version...

Older stock roms?

Here's the situation, I've been looking for the older stock roms either 4.0.4 or 4.1.1 so I can get my msl.
I've exhausted the options out there for getting it with the apps, terminal, adb and so on, so I'm looking for a stock old rom in hopes ill get the msl, I've found links here and there but there all broken or updated with 4.1.2
Also think redrums lean 4.0.4 would give the msl?
Thanks.

4.3 question

I have the T999 SG3 model, am rooted and currently running the Wicked v10 rom. I want to try out the 4.3 upgrade and was wondering what the best/safest way is to do this. I already did a nan backup. Do I need to unroot? Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

You need to read the last 3 pages of this thread.
Seems that one you upgrade, there is no going back (for the time being).
Moved to Q&A
Edit:
No reason to have two threads about the same thing.
