Does anyone else still use this? Seems like since 4.2.2 that it's annoyingly broken. It sends the same notification 2-3 times.. I just sent a link to my phone.. Got it, closed the notification. Put the phone down, and a few seconds later the same notification was pushed through. I then looked on my Nexus 10 and see the same notification was pushed 3 times.. I noticed this a few times earlier this week when I used it but just shrugged it off as a bug in the system and let it sit for a few days.. I've signed in, out etc.. Still does it.
That being said.. Anyone else seeing this behavior and can anyone recommend a similar app that works just as well, low memory footprint and doesn't keep the device awake?
I use the built-in tab autosync function of Chrome, if you're logged in both your PC and Nexus 4 on Chrome. You can open tabs that are open on your PC and vice versa.

*DOH*.. Thank you! I completely and utterly forgot about the chrome tab sync that is just seamless. "other devices".. That works perfectly and one less app on the phone too!
Thank you!
Chrome to Phone has been working fine for me. I personally use the AOSP browser so the other isn't an option

Strange.. I'm definitely not going crazy though.. A quick Google search shows this has been an off again on again issue since 2010.. I'm just going to uninstall it from all my stuff and use the Chrome sync.. Just got to change my habits.

Used it several devices ago but have recently been using Push Bullet. Let's you do the same thing but also keys you push other things such as files.

I am new to the site, I have been using it to learn a lot, I love it. I have one complaint, the sites pages continually refresh. Usually I have several tabs open most of which are Xda and the continued refreshing is slowing everything down.
Just a note I have a hard lined win7 PC, a Mac book pro, and a Win7 laptop all of which have FF and Crome the Mac has Safari and both PC's have IE I have checked all browsers and all three computers, this refreshes nearly continually on every thing. Is there anything I can do to stop this on my end, its really irritating.
I would like some feedback on this too as it is REALLY irritating. Especially on the phone because the address bar keeps coming up and interfering with reading of Xda threads. Most of the time I get so frustrated with it I just say forget it and wait until I can view on my computer.
I assume it has to do with the ad's regenerating or something??
Any way to turn it off or something?
+1
all this refreshing when browsing from work is not a good thing either.
I am experiencing the same problem of refreshing, but also my XDA tab(s) crash and restarts itself. I can't really search, post, or do much with this site since it keeps refreshing and crashing. I have Windows 7 (64-bit) using IE 8.
my guess is that it has something to do with the ads. im using google chrome with the extension "adblock" installed and i am not experiencing this issue. however, when i use firefox (which does not have any adblocking plug in installed) the pages seem to refresh every so often.

I only have the issue on my Nexus 7. When I view the site from my PCs it seems to work fine, but from my tab its horrible with the refreshing.
I get this notification that says it's downloading. But when I go to app info. It's from downloads instead of the Play Store. I don't know what it is. When I disable the app. Everything stops working; Play store, Chrome, Facebook, etc. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem?

Did you try downloading a file with that name? Open up the download icon found in the app drawer and see whats downloading.

I didn't download anything. I noticed it on my way home. It initiated randomly. And it won't finish, or even stop. It isn't showing in the downloads either.
****edit
I found it in the downloads a couple hours after the problem started. I don't have a full solution, which sucks.

Might be it is sync ur gallery with fb photos. Uninstall app and reinstall.
I'm experiencing this exact problem, also initiated on its own. I uninstalled and reinstalled Facebook but that did not affect the perpetual downloading of this. Nor have several phone restarts, etc.

solution!!!
I don't know you already fix this problem or not.
I searched several site and finally got an answer for this problem.
Just connect WiFi and let it do whatever it want.
Before I found this, I tried several things;
1. restarted my phone
2. pulled out battery and put back
3. killed the process from task manager
4. removed FB account
5. removed FB app from my phone (actually, back to previous version) and update again
Non of these helped me ever!!!
Also, this problem is not device specific. (I realize it after googling it)
I mean various devices and locations had the same issue.
Anyway, good luck!!!

Thanks. Connecting it to wifi did allow it to finish the unending installation very quickly. That was annoying and I'd like to know why an update initiated on its own, seemingly from within the app and not through the Play store (I do not have any auto-updates allowed, especially for social media apps), and drained my battery while it looped an install process that was apparently constantly seeking a wifi signal to complete.
Thanks a lot!!

I started having this issue today on my Galaxy Tab 2. The only solution people found on different forums is ti turn on WiFi. It'll immediately start downloading and would get installed (Probably due to its size it does not want to be downloaded on 3G/4G). Although I don't feel very comfortable installing this, Does not feel very genuine to me.
Did any one else had this problem? or any issues after installing it?
I had to switch to Wifi about 3 or 4 times and then it finally downloaded. It tried to download all of last night and killed the battery. In the mean time my phone has switched to using Edge instead of 4g and no matter how many times I switch Airplane mode on/off or restart the phone I can't get my 4g back. Think it is just a local problem? I've got a S3 on T-mobile in Orange County, CA.
I installed Dolphin Browser on my phone a few days ago because I love the browser but I noticed my data went up a lot quicker than it ever has. Luckily I have Unlimited data but it's currently at 11GB. Dolphin Browser used 7.34GB while in the Background which is odd. I noticed the problem when I would leave my phone on over night at 70% and wake up to a very low battery or a dead phone.
It's the best browser I've ever used but I don't know what would cause Dolphin to use that much data. Any ideas?

Why not just use the stock browser? Or at least Chrome? I haven't used Dolphin since the Moto Cliq lol. It's definitely not one of the better browsers, especially on the note 2.

I seem to remember Dolphin doing the same things on my Vibrant and haven't bothered with it since. Definitely try another browser. The others don't have that problem.
It's definitely a hog, but I can't do without it. I keep it frozen (along with most of my apps) when not using it.
Because it has all the add on capability so it's constantly on to search for update and stuff

Its not a virus.. Well unless you consider The Browser itself a virus. Its not but it does come close.Look at the permissions on dolphin browser. I once seen a article how it pushes adds to the browser in the back ground and Makes clicks on your behalf to pay the developer money .
I have not tried using it in a Long time like many above its definitely malware.
Just my thoughts
any phone I've ever had has ran like crap the day after I installed dolphin so I agree also with above its may have been good once but now it's just a system slower and I guess a data killer too so hey Dolphin browser is a double threat

For it to use 7gb on background is had to do a lot more than push ads. Anyway i used Dolphin on every phone and never had a problem.
i dont mean to bump an old thread, but i have just found this out today, i have adblock plus and have been using dolphin when not on wifi for the last 2 days, i have been letting the device sleep with it running in the background and i have checked today and have used my data for this month aswell as gone over $7, 250mb and 160mb today,
i dont know what it has been doing while its asleep, today i checked and it was at 160mb remaining then 1 hour later i got a message about nearly going over my cap 10mb remaining then when i checked it had gone past that.
its definitely spyware because why else would it be doing while idling no webpages open, i dont use its addons just stock without its ux improvement program, no dolphin connect either, i didnt block its privileges via pdroid unfortunately
if you read their privacy policy it could of drained it through, update service and push notifications as well as the other ones listed below,
dolphin engine beta, may use the information without your permission, if you disagree please do not use the application
i do use other browsers without issues opera, stock, i just wished i saw this thread earlier, time to remove it
other than the security flaw 2 years back there must be something else its sending back to its server
http://www.esecurityplanet.com/brow...law-found-in-dolphin-browser-for-android.html

I use boat browser and no issues. Dolphin always gave me issues so I left it and never looked back.
It's definitely also my favorite browser !
Why?
- fast
- displays Facebook very nice
- javascripting, html5 works
- youtube works fine
- handy settings sync
I'm using Maxthon also, which might compete.
I've tried others such as Boat but it didn't suit me.
Pitty Opera has become so bad in displaying webpages.
So I discovered the same problem here via data usage app.
IMO it's facebook that's connecting all the time?
They only way is to shut down the browser every time?
Came across this thread doing a google search for other people noticing battery drain with Dolphin.
I've never noticed any unusual data usage, but I wonder if that's related to automatic updating. I have my phone and tablet set to only update when on WiFi and I'm on WiFi quite often.
I have recently noticed a ton of battery drain though, especially on the tablet. Took me awhile to figure out which app(s) might be responsible, but I found that when issuing a Force Stop after finishing with Dolphin, my battery tends to level off. Once I exit the browser, its not listed as running in the app killer that I have, but from the App manager the Force Stop option is available, so I guess its still running after all.
Attached is a photo showing normal battery levels to the left, then the sudden battery drain next to it. Then the battery charging and continued excessive drain once unplugged, followed by the battery leveling off when killing everything I found running in the OS (not specifically Dolphin by itself). After this though, I routinely FS Dolphin after using it and the battery's been behaving much more normally.
Its a pain, but it just runs so much better than other browsers I've used..
Using "Greenify app" maybe helps. ..

In the webkit browser, double tap to zoom intermittently stops working. There's no rhyme or reason. I noticed that it wasn't working in the display model in the store, then was elated to discover it working on the one I bought. The other day I noticed it wasn't working again. Then it worked the next time.
I can't find a pattern. The same web page will work one minute, then not the next. A reboot of the phone does not fix it.
Does anyone know what causes this or how to resolve it? It's obviously a bug that needs to be addressed, but I'm hoping for a workaround until we get an update.
I had asked this a while back. No fix. Even using other browsers isn't reliable. I hope they fix it soon. Is the sole reason I am using my gs4 more now. I browse a lot and need this working

I noticed that Dolphin does it, too, but double tap to zoom is reliable in Chrome. I just don't like how slow Chrome renders and there's no flash support.

I just got an Optimus LG Pro, and noticed the same problem in Dolphin browser.
Is there a solution for the problem without refreshing the ROM ?
I just returned my N7 back to stock today cause I wanna be able to except the kitkat update, whenever it may be. Everything seemed fine and may still be fine, idk? I can open my playstore, and some other Google apps but a lot of em, when I open the app, like Google plus for instance, it tries to connect and I get a pop up that says "cannot connect to Google servers"? I suppose it could be something on googles end but that's why I'm asking. Has anyone had this issue today other than me or know what it may be??

Same issue here -- Nexus 4, can't connect to Google Servers...and I've never Modded any of my phones....I don't have the slighest idea why, because Chrome is not having an issue on my PC, well except for syncing, but I am still able to send/recieve in Gmail and access other Google Apps
