My friends phone recently started lining up all the text messages of one person on one side and all the text messages from her on the other. They are not alternating in the normal way anymore. Anybody ever experienced this? And how would I fix it?
Also all the new messages automatically get shuffled to the bottom, which is also strange. Is this a bug? Or a setting?
I've tried reloading the ROM/applying gapps again. Erased cache/delvic. But still the same.
Thanks

sounds like aosp sms to me. the new message gets moved to the bottom of the thread or the bottom of all the threads? what rom?
I got it. The format of the messages stayed the same and i assumed the problem wasn't fixed. But reloading the ROM and gapps seemed to fix things nicely... Strange... Never seen this happen before.
But thank you for the help.
Chris

Hey guys, recently my Epic has started to receive multiple page text messages in a weird way. I'm using GoSMS, but I checked on stock and it's the same way. Anyway, how it's going is that it'll show up at (0001/0002) in front and then the second one will be (0002/0002) BUT the second one will be cut off and come as another text.
Also, if the sender's phone adds on like a (1/2), the (0002/0002) text will be part of the (1/2) text, then send the (2/2) text on two separate texts... if you need clarification on this, just ask. It's getting kinda annoying.
Anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks,
Hasseo
Oh yeah, I'm using GoSMS (the latest version) and I'm on SRF 1.2.
This here happened to me recently aswell. And it fixed itself. Lol....

Fixed itself? Danggg. Did you uninstall an application or flash another ROM?

Oh... well that hasn't worked for me Dx.

Randomly while sending texts or receiving them, my texts randomly disappear or auto hide when I open the app. Other times you can see the messages for a split second then they will disappear saying "your message inbox is empty".
There are also times when I will be in a conversation Window and after replying to a message the message content will disappear and when I back out there will be no messages there either.
Anyone know what the hell is going on? I've restored, deleted cache including dalvik and even installed a new rom twice. The only reason I rooted was to fix this issue.

I'm having the same thing happen to me and the only way to fix it is restart my phone
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
At least I known in not the only one now. This restarting my phone crap gets old fast. Plus restarting once doesn't always fix the issue.
I know others have had this problem. Please come forward!

This is a bump. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

I am currently running Odexed blue by Team Vennum. I only flashed this rom and rooted because i lost all ability to copy/paste AND this started happening. I was "putting up with" not being able to copy/paste, but once this happened a few times on stock, it was the last straw.

On stock I had the issue. I tried restores and then flashing. I did a trick someone posted in another thread for the mmssms.db and im waiting to see if I have the issue again. So far so good

So when I'm sending a text, sometimes the cursor will keep moving to the front of a text and not continuing and I have no way to fix this. Other times, it starts erasing everything I wrote. Anyone else experiencing this? If so, any non root related solution?

Did you check to mske sure there is no moister on the phone? Or that your hands are not touching the screen?
Try rebooting and or wiping the cache on the app

Same thing happens to me
thought it was just me hitting the wrong thing, but happens all the time...
I've seen this happen multiple times on all 3 devices that my family has
Yeah i don't know why. I've checked it all, tried two different messaging and keyboard apps and did a factory reset. No luck. It's really hindering

I have this problem too at times. Not enough to piss me off. I have heard people having success with GO SMS Pro. Might bork your MMS though.
Happens to me as well, i start typing then all of a sudden im at the beginning of the text still typing. I thought it was maybe a bug with Swiftkey or maybe i was accidently touching the screen but it guess not.
Tried it on another 3 og's
Same issue
Yea I have the same issue and I thought it was the stock LG keyboard. So I downloaded the android 4.2 keyboard and I'm still having the same issue. I'll deal with it for now because the 4.2 keyboard is legit and it only happens once in a while.

I called Sprint, I'm taking it in and will probably get it replaced since not everyone has it. Hopefully an update fixes this or there's a rom that does

It is NOT your hardware. This is a software bug in the messaging app. I discussed it HERE already. It's not the keyboard. I've tested multiple keyboard and multiple messaging apps. The problem resolves with a different messaging app. I've used GO SMS and now I'm using chompSMS.
This bug annoys the hell out of me and is the only reason I'm checking the forums every single night for an AOSP ROM to flash. I'm sure this will be resolved with an update to JB, but who knows when that's coming.
Try GO SMS, chompSMS, Handcent or any of the other Messaging apps in the market and this won't happen to you. Do not freeze your stock messaging app or MMS won't work.
This is a known issue at work. Our LG rep said we should have a fix out very soon. It is not a hardware issue and replacing it will do nothing.

So I am hoping someone else has this issue so I know I am not going crazy:
My phone, a few times of day, the messaging app, stock/hand cent/SMS pop up/go SMS/ chomp, I have tried all of them and they all do the same thing. I will be in the middle of a text conversation with someone and all of the sudden all my texts will disappear and all of my conversations will disappear. I cannot send a message or receive one and everything in the messaging app is blank.
I have tried wiping data and cache on the messaging app and hasn't worked. Tried a soft reset and hard reset and doesn't work. Took phone to sprint and they couldn't recreate issue. Ordered me a refurb phone and it is doing same thing.
Tried not restoring my Google account info and starting from scratch and it still does it. Only thing that makes the messages come back is a reboot of the phone and voila the messages are all back like nothing happened.
Please someone tell me how to fix this!

This phone is great but I have had 3 reoccurring issues.
The first is that the phone just ends calls sporadically with no rhyme or reason. It could be after minute, 3 seconds or 24 minutes.
The second is sometimes it goes silent for notifications, blocking mode is not on but I have to restart the phone to correct it.
Third is my second Gmail account doesn't push notifications anymore and I find it difficult to retrieve or send my messages.
Had anyone else experienced these issues? What can I do to correct them?

Am but the issues were there before and two other people have told me their phone just hangs up sometimes too.
So your saying the phone had problems even on stock no root? If so unroot and if the problem persists then take it in they will most likely exchange it due to faulty hardware
My phone hangs up sometimes as well. At random times and places. On all different roms. Even stock deodexed roms . Not enough to bug me but it can be annoying if you're on an important call. I haven't had the other issues you stated though.
