Hi All,
I am looking for a Rom that has multi-window control, but also a toggable virtual navigation bar like AOKP. I only need the virtual nav bar when connected to the 7" lcd in my car. I have tried button savior, but it overlays on top of apps and gets in the way.
I was hoping to find a rom that has both features. I searched but didnt see anything specific.

this worked for me a while ago to get the navigation bar

its perm though you cant simply toggle it on or off...you have to remove the lines you added to remove the bar.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately, doing that method and putting the phone into landscape and the nav buttons get all screwed up.

I'm developing app that allows to hide soft keys without modifying the system and without reboot. In only hides soft keys and leaves notification bar intact. After hiding soft keys I replace them similar auto hiding bar with Back, Home, Recent Apps and Menu buttons.
It does NOT modify system files. If something unplanned happens, just reboot your device and it will restore your stock navigation bar.
Unique Features:
* Hide soft keys on any rooted device (Phone UI only).
* Auto hiding navigation bar replacement - swipe trigger upwards to show it.
Differences to other status bar hiding apps:
* Does not remove notification bar
* Does not modify system
* No need to reboot
* Stock Notification panel and settings panels are fully working
* Stock recent apps list is fully working
* No problems with receiving phone calls

I'm collecting new ideas for future updates
It works on the GNEX. Lol I've been using it for a week or more.

Thanks, updated supported device list :fingers-crossed:. Do buttons look ok?
Hi there...
I just try your app and have few comments.
- Softkey could we biger, just like original. It is not necessarily to be smaller because - they can be hidden
- Vibrate on key press is missing thing for me
- After few turning on and off my phone reboot (Gnex, stock 4.2.2., I9250XXLJ1, JDW39)
I am not developer but I was always askin why someone don't make hiden navigation bar (buttons) and activate it just like we swipe our notification bar. Just like that and but very smooth. Al that PIE's and invisible areas was too laggy and don't enough responsive to me. You are very close to my idea and if this will work I think your app have potencial.
Good luck
Hello guys, i have my own implementation of this, I made it long time ago, but haven't released to public until today
Check it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41195717
Grate app bro. Confirm that work on GSM GNexus with stock 4.2.2 rom.
Send from my awesome-superb-f.... ng incredible Galaxy Nexus
0.93:
- Added Google Now button when Home is hovered. Added animation.
- Added option to hide QuickNav bar when empty space on bar is pressed.
- Added option to keep/hide QuickNav bar when pressed anywhere else on scren.
- Added option to delay bar hide after pressing soft button. Pressing new button resets delay.
Donator here: Could it be possible to be able to disable the glow and maybe to add another section where you can be able to change the nav bar icons from a respository of sorts? Thanks! Keep up the good work!

Try newest development version. I added theming funtionality.
hello, developer. Pro buyer here. Your app is very nice indeed and works great. I'm using it on my gnex with rooted stock rom. I just have the following observations:
1. It seems the app makes scrolling of the recent apps stuttery.
2. May I request for an option to use the stock 3-dot menu icon, instead of the 3-bar menu icon? The 3-dot icon blends better with the stock icons, in my opinion.
3. The menu icon randomly appears. (I have disabled it.)
Thanks!
So has anyone been able to enable the Nav bar?
I tired searching and it seems like it would just be a buildprop edit. Since I dont trust the recovery currently(heard too many bricks). I wanted to know if anyone had done this yet.
Now once enabled, is there a way to edit the buttons, such as color size of height, or add other buttons/rearrange.
Once thats done, is there a way to disable the capacitive buttons.
My device is Jovi's stock rooted odexed rom. I have twrp and running xposed with some modules.
Thanks
EDIT:
So i just tried adding qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 to build prop but SystemUI keeps crashing with no stats bar.
I tried a soft nav bar root app from the playstore and got the same thing
Gravity Box yields same results
Anyone have any suggestions?
so anyone get this to work?

I haven't.
Are you talking about soft keys at the bottom of the screen for home/back/search/etc? If so I would love to see a solution. It sucks not having a search button. Ideally I'd have the bar on the bottom and turn the physical home key into a camera button.
Not the solution you want but. ultimate dynamic navbar... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270198

I just bought the Nexus 7 2013, and coming from the original Galaxy Tab (2010) the absence of hardware buttons drives me crazy because of the Navigation Bar (I hope this is the right term for it) which I dont like.
Reasons:
- I press the buttons accidentally when using the keyboard
- It is a waste of vertical screen space when in landscape mode
So is there any way to put the navbar to the right in landscape mode (like on most phones)? Like some magic build.prop hack?
I am currently on cm11 official nightlies, but changing roms or patching the source myself if necessary is an option too.
Any hints?

Its not an ideal solution, bit you can use phab7 -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-phab7-v0-99-reboot-ui-switcher-t2545080
Chose phone ui, and it will put them on the right in landscape. I say its not ideal because it spread's the buttons out and causes the Google now ring to be off center. Unfortunately it doesn't support tablet ui (apparently google took it out in 4.4+), but phone ui, and split menus work on KitKat.
I personality use pie controls from gravity box, and force immersive on any apps I want fullscreen with Xutilites -
http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.nagopy.android.xposed.utilities
So all my games/chrome/play magazines/etc. automatically go immersive, I hated having to switch it on and off all the time, so this worked for me. I also use gravity box to make the nav bar smaller, so when it is there it takes up less room. The nav bar will still pop up with the keyboard if you go this rout tho. You could disable it completely with gravity box, but you would have to really like pie controls for that lol. Gravity box -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-gravitybox-v2-9-1-tweak-box-android-t2554049
These are all Xposed framework mods BTW, I am assuming you'd be comfortable with this since your running a custom ROM. I hate the lost pixels as well. Best of luck reclaiming the rest your screen
Thanks for the detailed reply :good:
I am very satisfied with the results with phab7.
Adding a 4th icon to the navigation bar was necessary to have them look centered again.
I am completely gapps free - so the google now problem does not apply to me
Someone got to permanent hide the softkeys on nougat? I've already tried putting "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" at the end of build.prop as I always did in my other phones, but that don't seen to work. I've tried too using a lot of overlays to set the softkeys height to 0, but with no sucess also. Besides that, I've tried to decompile de framework-res.apk and modify the navbar height value to 0, what gives me no navigation bar but no status bar too.
Any another way that will work? Am I missing something? I really want to use lmt and hide those screen space eaters
Just use https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-custom-navigation-bar-customize-t3590967, there is an option to hide the navigation bar

Unfortunately a swipe up will bring the buttons, and I want to really disable it in order to use lmt on the bottom of the screen

You ever figure this out..this has got to be the most annoying thing about this phone.
I use Assistive touch app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.luutinhit.assistivetouch and have a floating button which helps me to navigate. One tap for back, double tap to home and hold for recent. It's quite useful and convenient. It's always there at the thumb position and easy to reach. I use Nougat/Oreo Quick Settings app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.simonesestito.ntiles and created a custom tile for immersive mode to hide navbars only, yes if you swipe from bottom you'll find the navbar there but i don't need to cuz I use the floating button all the time. That build prop command works for me, I've tried that earlier but i choose the immersive mode because if Assistive touch crases (which never happened till now) I can use the navbar as backup. The command you're using is right, I don't know what's the issue but you can reset your device and then try if it works.
So someone else mentioned this idea in another thread but I thought it was a great question/idea that deserved it's own Q&A thread.
Is there a way (preferably without root) to get the nav bar invisible (like in immersive mode) but fully functional?
By this I mean not like immersive mode where you swipe up to make the bar appear, but rather the bar would be there all the time and the buttons work, it would simply be invisible (both the bar and buttons). It's not hard to tap in the general area of the 3 buttons. For this to really work, it would have to overlay all apps and what not such that it appeared as if it wasn't there - like immersive mode - (even though it actually was).
Would be even better than immersive mode in my opinion. Anyway, just thought I'd ask. Thanks!

Download Custom Navigation Bar. Then you just need to grant permission via ADB and you can make the navbar buttons invisible. That's what I've done. No Root needed.

cool app for quickly adjusting immersive mode, but it doesn't actually do what im looking for.
the option to make nav buttons doesn't work the way im asking for since the nav bar is still visible... just blank. i dont want the bar taking up space.
basically what im looking for is an invisible, overlayed, nav bar in all apps.

I see. Ok also download navigation bar hider from the play store. This to needs a simple adb command to grant permissions. Use both the apps together. With this app, you can hide the navbar through out the whole system or on an app per app basis. Add the invisible navbar icons from the first app as well.
Hmm sounds interesting..subscribing to see if somebody gets it working...I don't have my Pixel yet to try this
