Hi all
This whole saga of auto reboot started when I started flashing custom kernels. Here's the situation, irrespective of the rom when I flash a custom kernel and switch off the phone to charge it up...the phone automatically restarts after sometime...there's no specific time at which it restarts but my hunch is that as soon as the phone reaches 100% charge it just reboots itself...I simply have no clue why this is happening...
Thinking that this could be a custom kernel/ rom issue, I went back to stock via the RUU route...this means everything is stock except for the recovery which is CWM...Guess what, the phone restarted again after being switched off for a while...I'm absolutely clueless..pls let me know if anyone else has had the same issue...

If you have done the revert-to-stock-RUU thingy and still the problem persists, i think it is a hardware defect my friend. revert to stock then ask your provider for repair or replacement if it is under warranty:cyclops:

This is a list of events that I have gone through today. I received a new charger because the old one I had became defective & was charging my phone up & then it would go back down to 0% & then shut off & it would end up in a problem where the phone would not turn on unless I pulled out the battery while the AC was in & then it was able to charge but still it would turn on, on its own to drain the battery when off & this was very frustrating. The charger I have now works but the device acts strange over the last few months doing a task29 & flashing the first ROM after would make that ROM not work & then I had to flash a totally different ROM to make it work. I was using Android & it had died a few times & also I experienced the same thing I did when it would charge up & go back down to 0%. please read below:
I got my new charger today & at 62% of charge I decided to flash to a custom ROM via mem card again well the ROM was a success but when pulling battery out to restart it didnt want to work. So I went to flash again in bootloader by memory card it shut off on me in the middle & restarted into bootloader again & shut off again right away. I did a task29 it worked got it out of bootloader & now the orange led flashes off & on when its off & now ive gotten that to stop. What exactly is wrong with this device?
it was @ 73% and finally setup a ROM NRGY however it ended up shutting off on its self & going into a power boot loop constantly restarting until that ROM can no longer start & now its stuck on the boot screen w/ its info.
I flashed the stock SPL on USB now im going to try to flash the carriers ROM back.
Stock SPL = Successful!
2nd Touch Pro 2 ROM Version Flash = Successful!
Its working for now. Battery is @ 80%
AHH! After charging to 100% idk what it did but when I went into the other room to check out its all possessed.
I have a black screen w/ white text that says:
The device is unable to boot because either you have turned off the device incorrectly or tried to install an application from untrusted source.
Press Volume Up to reset your device or press any other button to cancel.
This operation will delete all your personal data and restore the device to its factory default settings.
IDK how this happened.
When I hit any key it didnt do anything it was stuck until I did a battery pull. Then I restarted the device it was stuck at the boot screen w/ its red info. It erased the entire ROM. Then I tried to do recover mode & it did nothing. I tried to flash the stock ROM again & no results & then again & still no results. I think its now not accepting the ROM at all since from: in the ROM update utility is blank.
Now it decides to get past the boot screen but then it malfunctions again & restarts itself & it tries to setup a 2nd time then after it does & its on sense home for a couple of mins it reboots twice & now its stuck on the boot screen again.
Things that I can think of.
- Isn't your batterie just broken? You will break your batteries when you deplete them completely. Maybe try a new batterie, because you said that you let it die for a few times. It could be that this is causing your problems.
- Did you flash true usb when you were in the bootloader? Give that a try, because I believe that the customruu performs some sort of checks. Maybe this is nonsens, but you can try it.
The battery was fully charged & it was working better than before.
I reflashed the Stock SPL to flash the carriers ROM back & that worked but at anytime it just rebooted for whatever reason to make it so the ROM was unusable at any time I would reboot it would decide to actually go past it seldom. I experienced that at one point oddly it went into setup n it did it again after a while its just acting strange.
If you're back to stock SPL and stock ROM, can't you just send it back for a warranty replacement ?
IDK how old it is. I bought it brand new from ebay.

No warranty bro...
You can try but no warranty 9/10 times.
What ROM are you using? I used to have that issue with my betas.
It wld destroy itself after softreset and I would have to reflash.
Try to flash, turn off right after it boots, turn on and see how that works for ya.
Rep had told me I could get it replaced & they know I bought from ebay. But I havent called them on this yet.
It doesnt work. It usually doesnt go past the boot screen. Flashing does nothing to help it. Whenever it feels like it it may have to stay on for a few mins to go into setup but most of the time it will stay there & reboot, reboot, reboot, reboot each time its a different # of times & it will reset itself at anytime. Ive even had bootloader shut off on me & restart itself during flashing its a pain. I had another issue I didnt mention my device on any custom ROM when I had 0.85 olinex SPL the device would just freeze & not respond every time. Now this is a different situation. I am back of SPL 0.87 which is the default. I flashed the entire carrier ROM which 0.79 was rewritten w/ 0.87 & that was successful but its still rebooting & causing fatal problems including the black screen w/ white text.
UPDATE: I just walked into the kitchen. Somehow the device turned on by itself & now its sitting on the sense home screen. I know its not fixed but idk why it would turn itself on.
Moved as not ROM Development.
Try flashing task 29 1st... Might be because when you flash remnants of the older OS are still there causing trouble. Remember though, you need to have Hard SPLed it 1st....
I got so frustrated I just got done calling T-Mobile Tech Support & they are going to ship me a replacement.

I thought I would reply to you.
This is what started my problems is when I did a task 29 my device was acting funny afterwards. I did it again about a month later cuz I flashed way too much & it kept getting worse. But Task29 didnt help this time its what caused me to have to flash 2 different ROMs cuz the first one I flash after doesnt work.
I received the battery & it didnt do anything.
I'm still waiting on the replacement to come.
Hi All,
I am not sure if this is a hardware issue that I am facing or what.
Basically I was running Linaro CM11 which was working fine, but I got a goo.im that a update was available. So I downloaded and flashed this.
Everything seemed fine except after 5 minutes the phone did a reboot, it started up fine and same thing kept happening. So I flashed back to the previous version but the problem persisted.
So I downloaded a stock N7100 UK vodafone rom, flashed this but while doing so it seems the usb cable I was usb wasn't 100% and it crashed mid flash.
I used a JTAG to get the phone back into download mode and using a new cable re flashed the above stock rom. since the any stock ROM i flash goes into deep sleep and usually WONT wake up.
So i decided to re flash CM10 stable, which does not suffer the deep sleep but does suffer with reboots every few minutes so tried CM11, also tried a few other ROMS and im suffering either deep sleep or a reboot.
What is wrong with my phone, second to this I cannot turn on bluetooth if I try to on stock or custom the phone either just toggles straight back off or freezes completely and restarts itself or stays like that just hanging.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Just to add to this post, iv tried Sammy 4.3, 4.1.2 & 4.0.1 I think on the last one all do more or less the same except they all crash loads on first boot. Some are unusable. Iv also tried Irish rom, France, Spain.
Same thing happens on all soon as the screen goes off it is almost impossible to get the phone to wake up. Also tried other kernels again with the same result or worse the room packs in.
Help :crying:
here's the background: galaxy s3, nonrooted, stock firmware, no physical damage that i'm aware of.
my friend's gs3 is constantly rebooting. essentially, it even reboots at boot up at any of the various splash screens during boot up and does not even boot up fully at all before it'll decide to crap out again. i figured that it may possibly be related to some rogue app so i told her to load up in safe mode but even then, the phone would reboot and attempt to restart again to ultimately fail and repeat. it did manage to boot up for a minute or two under safe mode yet it would restart again. i actually spoke to her last night but when she woke up, her phone wouldn't even stay on. after she had hung up, all she did was charge her phone and found it in it's current condition. we've attempted to remove the battery for a minute or so but the problem persists. the only other assumption was that there might have been an ota update that went bad. unfortunately i have a rooted gs4 so i'm not sure if there was an ota update for the gs3 that i wasn't aware of.
does anyone else have an idea on how to fix this or what may be the problem?

there was an ota update a bit ago, 4.3...um, is it under warranty or does she have insurance, if so, go to the sprint techs and have them look at it, if not, what you can do/try for it is to completely flash the 4.3 ota update again using odin and download mode...you can do this by clicking on the 2nd link in my signature and see what happens, fixed my phone like this after 4.3 and myself messed it up lol and it's the exact same thing the sprint techs would do for it if you brought it in
so there's your options man...good luck, any questions just post up but the guide is very simple and straight fwd to follow and I provided all that is needed in my download bundle from my dropbox account
edit...if you can't boot up to enable the usb debugging mode, it should still work but it's recommended to do but again, shouldn't really matter, as long as it boots into download mode you should be ready to go

This isn't an uncommon problem with the S3. I just recently went through this. In my case, and in many other cases, it's a faulty motherboard. Nothing you can do to fix it other than get Sprint to replace the handset.
For me, if I left it completely off for a long time, when I turned it back in it was stable for a couple of hours. Not sure if it was a coincidence, happened a couple of times that way.
Hi guys
I seem to have an incredibly weird issue on my HTC. It is rooted and running DU 6.0.1.
For some reason, despite the battery being 60%+, whenever I unplug my phone from power it just switches off. If I try to reboot it/go to recovery, it starts up for a second and goes off. However, it seems to function normally when it is plugged in via usb. I can access recovery as well. I have tried to reflash as well as a full wipe, but nothing seems to work.
Im thinking something went wrong with the boot.img maybe ?
Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe its a stupid inquiry but does battery work as it should in stock rom? so that you can be absolutely sure its not faulty battery that's creating issues.because two things happen(in my experience when something goes wrong with boot.img) either its stuck at splash screen (hboot) with red text OR it goes blank but not off, just blank
Definitely isnt the battery. I am not experiencing any drain and it functions completely normally when plugged it. When I unplug, it works fine for a few min and then switches off. It will then not turn on, despite it showing 90%+ when I plug it in
but it happens in stock rom also? thats what i wanted to know .if you can full wipe and phone works when connected to usb, maybe you can run ruu and confirm that as well . If you can go to recovery ,make a nandroid backup.and try a ruu.
Yup, happens on stock as well.
Also, I think the recovery is messed up as well since it just crashes now when trying to flash something. It's having issues doing a nanroid backup as well
And no love for exe ruu as well?
I was running a custom KitKat ROM on my Note II, but lately it has been acting up. For example, it would randomly restart on me. And when I would go to shut it down, it wouldn't shut down. Only reboot. And if I take the battery out, as soon as I put the battery back in it would start booting up (I wouldn't even press any buttons).
So I decided to flash Cyanide Android's custom ROM 6.0.1 (Cyanide-v5.0-t0lte-Detoxified-20160828.zip). It is running wonderfully. So far, no random reboots. However, the problem still remains with when I go to shut it down, it reboots. And if I put the battery back in (after taking it out), it starts booting up.
Any ideas on where to start to pinpoint the problem?
Does the same thing happen on a stock ROM? If it does, at least you know if probably isn't a software problem.
I don't know. It started happening loooong after I started putting custom ROM's on. I didn't bother going back to stock. I doubt it's a custom ROM problem.
You'll never really know until you try a stock ROM.

Ok. Yes. It does it with stock ROM as well. Now what?
Strange that the problem still exists. Maybe one of custom ROMs changed something in the phone's behaviour? I'm really not sure. Sorry.
It happened randomly after having a custom ROM for at least a year. And it also does weird things like, it's on, and I go to turn the screen on, and it just won't turn on (even though the phone is on). So I have to hold in the power button to hard boot it.
