All,
I try a lot of solutions (change ROMs, Kernel,...) to fix my GPS problem, without success!!!
When I launch a GPS app like GPS test, Google Maps,...there is not GPS icon blinking in status bar, and not lock! But SIRF GSD4t Initialization Success (so not hardware issue) as you can see from my SIRF Interface log :

So, you have GPS enabled but when you start an app that uses GPS for positioning, the icon doesn't appear (also no GPS related feedback in the notification drawer)? Or, does it stay on 'searching...' forever?

Hi Petrovski80,
Thanks for your reply. Indeed, when I start GPS app like GPS Status or GPS test, the icon doesn't appear and stay on "searching..." forever.
What do you mean by "also no GPS related feedback in the notification drawe"?
Regards
I mean a notification related to gps status. See screenshots.

I'm no SIRF expert, but judging from that log it looks at least the GPS chipset is responding. This of course does not guarantee it can actually see satellites. Did GPS ever work on your device? Or did it suddenly stopped working while not related to flashing a ROM or other software changes? In both scenarios, I highly doubt this can be fixed using software. Return it and claim warranty.

Wanted to thank you for mentioning this app. I never heard of it before. Turns out that enabling static navigation repairs the wonky sensor. I can use photo sphere now! I can use Google sky map again! Navigation is awesome! Thank you!

Announcement
Soon I'll be doing a firmware for Bluebelt/Bluebelt2 in English. Now I am collecting money to buy this phone. When the handset will be purchased and test firmware will be ready, I'll let you know here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=744571
Since i can't post directly to development Forums, i post it here. So please move the post!
I reflected the Samsung Diagnostic App and wrote a programm that creates on a bruteforce basis almost all of the diagnostic codes available.
The source code contains 175 codes, my program was able to create 150.
I can't really create the missing 25 codes, because the input you enter into the diagnostig app, is hashed and then compared, so there is no way (for me) to reverse this hashing.
Please notice: I know some of these codes aren't working but i post them anyway for completeness.

Hey Flow, thanks for this.
Does this apply to all samsung WP7 devices or is it specific to just one?
Just asking so I can move this to the most appropriate location.
Sorry for taking a while to get round to this as well.
Cheers
I don't have a focus to test this, but my guess is yes, this should apply for the focus too.
And maybe non WP7 Samsung Devices.

If you would have searched the forums, you would see that you didn't have to do that, because I already did that for you. I believe there are 174 codes and I found all of them.
Ciao,
Heathcliff74
Yeah tell me how the search works, did you look at the title of that thread?
Anyway if your needs are already satisfied, fine just ignore it. I invested some time to do that (not just copy paste) and my solution provides more then one code for some of the items.

Wow. No flame intended! It was just meant as a heads-up for the remaining codes you missed. I always appreciate hacking-efforts
1) Inject your own launch code (with your own passwords )
2) PROFIT!
Now, since i dont know about coding or how to understand to read this codes. I have to ask if, through this tool you could visualize the 3g/2g switch that some Omnia 7 have, and some dont in there setting?
thanks for this.Great,,,

======================================
I meddled with the stock SGS KH3 firmware and found this file inside (/etc/sirfgps.conf).
It got so many settings for GPS chipset but is untouched by AngryGPS program or any system's GPS settings, it must be edited manually.
I noticed a big differences by turning on this sensor aiding, freq aid, and emc feature in this file.
I do notice that sensor aiding is toggleable in the system's setting but it only work in software level and this conf file is in hardware level.
If any of you want the edited file, let me know and I'll post it for you.

Please share, I'm curious about your discovery

Yes. It would be nice if you posted the updated file.
This is the mentioned file found in my stock rooted /etc folder. Modified of course...
Permission is rw-r--r--
Group is root|root
hm I m looking for difference and you switch AIDING to ON manuall but when I enable in setting>>location>>use sensors- It is the same I think .)

This looks interesting, but unfortunately the zip file seems to be corrupt. Can you please re-upload the file?
I just trying to open the file and it works OK.
Try to extract it using WinRAR. I compressed it via WinRAR.
Hmm, when I enable the sensor aiding in the location menu, the sensor aiding in that conf file is still 0. When I disable it, the file also says 0. The last modified time is months ago, which is before I activate this device.
I notice the faster fix (mainly when you try to get a cold fix inside a fast moving car) and slight improvement in accuracy.
The interesting settings are: frequency aiding and emc feature.
I dunno what it's for but it improve my lock time and accuracy.

Testing
Hi,
I have tried this trick, but i saw no difference ...Inside my car (i have those "heat-protected" windows) i still have problems, my accuracy is awful, usually between 15-20 m in an open road (with spots of 5-10 m), and 25-30 m inside the city (which makes it useless).
I have changed the UART_BAUD to 3 and i will test it later....the reason is that i realized that when i turn right/left with my car, or in the road when a curve is closed enough to generate "centrifugal force" the accuracy drops from 10 m to 25 m and then when i come back to a straight lane the precision goes down to "normal" values....so i reduced BAUD to minimum, it will be slower but i hope more stable....
I'll try and post my results tomorrow

looking in that file location there is no such driver present..
I DO have the s3c2410_serial1 file on that location....And a serial0, serial2, serial3 and serial4
I dont really know if this is doing something or not...I tried to enable debugging and i see no file created on sdcard
But why Samsung put that file inside their ROM?
Hi,
this works for me, gps fix in 10sec.

So you only copy sirfgps to /etc and not more?
Thanks. Sounds interesting.

did you try to use an external SiRFIII GPS through BT, maybe it's for that....

Most likely there is an interface (maybe a control socket?) that allows these settings to be overridden by the Settings app without changing the file.
To confirm if the file is even used (sometimes cruft makes it into a ROM for no good reason...), try changing the serial port from s3c2410_serial1 to something else - it should completely break things. If it does not totally break things, then the file is most likely not used.

OK...sorry!
Hi. i have a very weird GPS problem with my phone.
the phone currently running cm 11. I have two sim cards from two different carriers. with one of them, gps works perfectly. with the other sim card, whenever I enable 3G, my gps dies until I reboot (gps works perfectly with this second sim card as long as I keep my data connection as 2G only). I tried with several roms, including going back to stock and the problem remains. I figured it had to be something about my carrier that is somehow conflicting with my GPS. after doing some research I found out about both gps.conf and sirfgps.conf. tried lots of different fixes and edits and nothing did the trick.
I enabled logging in sirfgps.conf. here are two files it creates.
AGPSlog.txt
(this is for the sim card that doesn't disconnect my gps)

I'm no expert, but have you considered an A-GPS issue ?
Do both your SIMs' APNs have "APN type=SUPL" ?
(SUPL = Secure User Plane Location, and from what I understand, it means your GPS can get A-GPS data from that APN. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_User_Plane_Location)

hey, thanks! yeah, at this point I'm almost positive it is a A-GPS problem with my second carrier. I actually found 2 more log files
here is the one with 3G activated:

I think somehow my carrier is blocking SUPL requests when I switch to 3G. but that's just me guessing from the logs. I'll try to keep investigating a little more but at this point I'm lost
Well, maybe one of your carrier just doesn't provide SUPL on their network. If that's the case, I'm pretty sure you're out of luck.
Do you mind posting both your APNs info ?
BTW, I'm also running CM11 on my Galaxy Nexus, and got quite interested in GPS some weeks ago. Here are some of my findings :
GPS Status & Toolbox is a very good app : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2. There website is also full of info on GPS : http://mobiwia.com/gpsstatus
TopNTP might be a good gps.conf setup tool : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=by.zatta.agps. It's not perfect (it still lists "FQDN" in some configs…), but it does allow to use DerekGordon's NTP servers
I read somewhere (can't remember where though :crying: ) that the Galaxy Nexus SiRFstar chip actually does not use A-GPS, but a similar technology. That's why all these "Inject A-GPS" app seem to have no effect on that device
---------- Post added at 17:50 ---------- Previous post was at 17:34 ----------
Regarding the Galaxy Nexus absence of A-GPS :
The Galaxy Nexus seems to have a SiRFstar chip : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30765234&postcount=7 or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fatdroid.android.gpscontrols2ad
SiRFstar chips seems not to use A-GPS : http://pocketnow.com/hardware-1/sirfstar-iv-to-compete-with-agps-for-fast-acquisition-times
