I think this is because of stupid MTP (Media transfer mode), try to restart both of your computer and smartphone or just your smartphone, then see if it works
Sent from my Xperia LT26w Acro S using xda premium
Did that time and time again..still no use

Is your phone rooted? If so you can try sd card mounter.
Sent from my Xperia S using Tapatalk 2
Try using SD Mounter or Android Commander ( to use the last, you have to enable Debugging USB mode)
Well unfortunately im not rooted

you can flash back to .45 or .50 with flashtool, then root , install CWM , after that install .55 rooted with CWM in this topic
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2005595
It's due to absence of MSC mode
However you can still view by using my Phone explorer

Download my phone explorer and install it on your PC. Connect your phone and you're done

Ok im no newbie. Far from actually. But i cannot for the life of me flash any generic ftf file. The drivers installed on my computer once usb debugging was turned on. Flashtool sees my device, when I click check drivers it shows my device id. Even adb recognizes device. When attempting to flash a ftf file it starts off fine, once I unplug usb, turn off device, hold power down, reconnect usb it aborts shortly after.
Are there drivers im not installing or are not aware of? Am I doing something wrong? Please help
Update got it fixed. Now running ics. Thanks guys

Um start the flash with your phone off and unplugged. Wait till flashtool tells you to plug the phone in then hold the volume down button and plug in the USB. It should start the process then.

Interesting as I thought that the device needed to be detected initially by fasttools, but if it's off how can it recognize USB debugging or model, etc? All that is useless I guess?

Flashtool will recognize your phone right off, but you still need to install the flashing drivers for it to flash firmware. If you haven't already, go to the drivers folder in flashtool and run the exe.

Try redownloading flashtool and reinstall the drivers exe.
One thing at a time to eliminate in basic trouble shooting.

Also use a different cable and different USB port while troubleshooting.

Ok I'll have to try redownloading flash tools. Anyone have a link? I've reinstalled flash tools and drivers but that didn't help. So maybe I had a bad download.

I haven't tried to re download flash tools yet. Only tried reinstalling it, that didn't help. Do I need Sony companion software installed, or is that an interference like htc sync was for stuff like this? Im going to try this on a different pc. I'll post any update. Thanks guys

You install drivers when windows detects the device you don't flash them.

I know that windows will automatically install the drivers for my ion... But
I was under the impression I had to install the drivers from the flashtool/drivers/flashtool drivers. where it lists all those devices and then it has flashmode and fastboot drivers. Am I wrong?

Windows installs the adb drivers (which are needed to run the root scripts), this is separate from the flashtool drivers. You only need to run the exe in flashtool/drivers/, it will install the correct drivers from the lt28. Make sure you have the most recent version of flashtools.

Yes, just run the exe as has been stated numerous times.
Many others have completed this process with out issue. There are a ton of post and a video made so the information is here you just need to read...all of it.
This is a new phone with no dev support at the moment. We're all figuring it out. If you need simple then the ion may not be for you.

The problem I am trying to re-flash and re-root my arc, but at the re-install rom manager and CWM, when charging, always returning to the charging problem. What has any information regarding this case and the solution.

Update the cwm app to xparts from play store.
Install app then, click to install cwm into system.
Using roor explorer navigate to sd card/xparts folder and copy the recovery.tar to system/bin setting the permissions like the screen shot.
If still have probs try this chargeMon file again set permissions like the recovery. Tar move to system/bin
Link for chargemon file.

Hi!
Is there a way to root the actual firmware 15.1.C.2.9? framaroot 1.9.1 (install superSU, Gandalf) gives me a "Success, ..." and then a reboot. But nothing happens to root.
EDIT: Forgot to enable USB-Debugging before.
You need to do it severel times, how did you get that FW
Sent from my C1904 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
it worked fine with one time run of framaroot - if usb debugging enabled :cyclops:
And I got the fw via PC Companion.
