Don't find out the hard way that the roms in this forum won't work with a sprint galaxy nexus. You will have no cell radio access with them. There is no way currently to get back to stock.

This is pretty common knowledge...but let me ask you this, to flash a custom ROM, you must have a custom recovery...did you nandroid backup before flashing?

Can I root?
I had expected the Verizon ROMs would have incompatible radios, but will the root methods and other recoveries/mods work?
Yes I did but it got wiped on accident while flashing roms. It happens and I am sure there will be a fix soon. But quite a few other people have done this.

That doesn't help because the modem is irrevocably flashed to Verizon's version, and we don't have any Sprint radios to recover yet.
If you did flash a Verizon ROM on your Sprint Galaxy Nexus, flash the TWRP recovery, then place this in your Nandroid backup folder and restore.
When Android boots, update Profile & PRL in the About screen, reboot, and data should be working again!

Roms do not contain radios, so yes it would help.
Umm you can flash a nandroid of stock. But the thing that also breaks this is the kernel.
OK , but still a reflash of the rom (every rom includes a kernel) should set him back to good. Period. Needs a stock rom to flash then will be be fine. This is much ado about nothing.

There will be a separate Dev section just like there is for Verizon and GSM now.
But seriously how would you ever think that a Verizon ROM with no changes would just work on a Sprint GNex?
I seen a post where the 4.2.2 Google edition rom was available to flash onto my tmobile S4, I was wondering if I can just flash it after wiping, or if I need the ktoonz kernel? I'm not even sure what the ktoonz kernel is, I've flashed ROMS before, just not on my s4. I'm rooted with twrp. And my build is the UVUAMDL one where I needed to get past boot loader lock thing. Sorry, I'm using my phone and I don't have the right links with me. Any help would be nice

I Highly suggest you don't flash anything until you read up on the forums and figure everything out. Read up on kernels, roms, gapps, bootloader, recovery etc. Then when you get that stuff down read about the roms you want to flash. If you flash am incorrect file you can hard brick your phone.

I'm fairly familiar with flashing. I know my way around twrp and cwm. I just never knew what a kernel was.. Never needed to use one on my vibrant... So I know how to flash, that's not my question... I want to know if, with a stock rooted tmobile galaxy s4 (UVUAMDL), can I just flash the Google edition rom from twrp, then I'm good to go? And will I lose my root? It looks pretty straight forward, I just want to make sure my phone is Ok for the rom, and if I need the ktoonz file, cuz some people were mentioning it...

I flashed my T-Mobile version to a GE and it works fine... But mines is non rooted... You should be fine.

I already posted the link.
I was looking at that, so I wipe everything in twrp, and flash it like normal, but I'll lose root? Download the chainfire zip and install it in twrp as well to get root again?
Quick question, if I ever wanted to send my phone into get serviced, I can completely wipe my phone back to stock by flashing that back on the phone using Odin, correct? That would do the root as well, so when I sent it in, they would be none the wiser?

Yea that's the version, get the odex version so everything works.
Jellybean doesn't have flash... It uses Google chrome as default browser unlike custom Roms that has a browser that has a browser built in.

Will there be completely stable versions of the Google edition s4 released sometime in the future? I'm just seeing way to many different versions of the same thing where some things aren't working properly, and it doesn't seem to be as simple as just flashing the rom. All sorts of other stuff needs to be done like changing build.prop and whatnot. I just want to be able to flash the rom and be done with it... Is that possible right now? Or no. I guess I'm not as familiar with all the terminology as I thought. I still don't know what a kernel really is, I flashed one once and it just made my cwm recovery menu different... And I know I needed a specific kernel to flash specific ROMS.. Is that the case here with these Google edition roms?

Only thing that sucks is the home button lag, and you can't fix it since s voice is not even there.
Does anyone know if wifi calling works with GE rom?
It's a must for me.
Thanks!

Tried to install and the feature was unchecked automatically. Tried to turn on restart phone etc and nothing helped.
I really wonder how custom Roms don't have this home button lag and GE does. Weird

What do you mean you can't flash anything else? When you flash, are you wiping everything clean each time before flashing ROMs or are you dirty flashing?

yes, i'm wiping everything, whenever i try to install any other rom i have some type of error. i'm new to this so please excuse my noobness. i've tried to flash a stable cm10, among others with no luck.
Do you have the md4 boot loader?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
The new S3 have been modded by Sprint /Samsung and require a modded recovery in order to mount storage. The other issue is that you can not flash an aosp style rom. You should be able to flash any TW rom but it won't allow aosp roms to flash. None of the developers have a new S3 so until someone gets one ir someone volunteers one this won't be solved.

If your getting a status 7 error that is the bootloader error flash this in recovery it will update all your firmware and bootloader. http://db.tt/Qt6NcH0a
After flashing this make sure you reboot the phone then try going back into recovery and flashing the rom you want.

Simply back up your apps with Titanium Backup, and put your contacts on your SIM card if you haven't already. Everything on the internal SD card isn't erased after a factory reset (in TWRP anyway, not sure about CWM), so you don't have to worry about pictures or stuff.
EDIT: I guess dual booting IS possible. I stand corrected.
Use the built in import/export function for contacts as well.
You can dual boot with a modified recovery...

Well dual booting is essentially what you described (which means the name is a bit misleasing), but it seems to only be possible on the international version from my research.

I saw on a thread that someone was using "Multiboot" to run CM11 as their daily driver but also having TW on it to use for WiFi calling and such.... I want to ask:
Was this a fib?
If not then how can I do it?
Is there a guide I can look at?
If it is possible then I would like to run CM11 and TW 4.1.2, I already have the images and ODIN for that. I never updated to 4.3 so I don't think that is a problem?
If you have help please quote my post so I can get a handy email of the response ^-^
Thanks

Quick questions: are you rooted? Have you flashed a custom ROM/recovery before? Your answers will help me in answering your questions on how to do.

Get the AT&T version 2.12 - it has a fix in it for the External SD card that appeared in 2.11. While it's an AT&T recovery, it'll work fine on our phones as the TMO and AT&T S3 are the same phones.
Once you have the file, flash it via CWM and you'll have a MultiBoot TWRP as your recovery. The thread for the MultiBoot Recovery has a couple of Youtube videos that walk through setting up additional ROMs. I'm currently using z999 (Odexed 4.1.2 TW ROM) as my backup ROM to use for Wi-Fi calling.
Let me know if you have any additional questions.

For some reason, on the 2.11 version, I couldn't get the secondary ROM to see my external SD card. I backup all of my apps there - it was a pain to copy my backups to the internal SD card. There were a lot of comments about the issue on the AT&T forum and the developer put out a new version (2.12). However, he never put out a version for d2tmo - only d2att. So, I messed around with the install script and loaded the newer recovery on my phone. External SD problem solved.

Okay so I am researching how to do it and I believe I understand BUT the T-mobile TW file I have has to be flashed through ODIN, it's not a zip, and I want CM to be my stock ROM. So I was searching for a 4.1.2 TW rom (I prefer that version) and couldn't find any zip files...
Do you know how to help me? Do you know where to find a stock .zip flashable through recovery?
I followed all the instructions to use multiboot and I got the z999 touchwiz rom on there but then it wouldn't "find" my CM rom that was already on there so I ended up formatting and having no OS, so I tried to sideload but the multiboot stuff messed it up so I'm using ODIN to go back to stock >.> this has failed miserably.

The multi boot recovery won't "find" your CM ROM - it will always be the "internal" ROM. Multi boot will only show secondary ROMs in the multi boot menu. Anytime you want to boot CM, just boot the internal ROM.
Give me some time and I'll do a video on how to set up multiple ROMs.

Would it be possible for me to use a 4.3+ ROM using multiboot? I have the old boot loader or whatever that came with 4.1.2 along with those modems etc.
If it's possible to run a 4.4.4 aosp ROM on the old boot loader how come you can't run newer versions of TW? If there is a ROM I can use along 4.1.2 that'd be nice.
TW roms have Knox.

To be honest, I don't know. From what I've read, some of the 4.3 ROMS don't play nicely with MultiBoot. I haven't given it a try yet. If you're willing to give it try, please let me know what you find. The good new is, if you try it as a secondary ROM and it doesn't work, you can just delete it.
