Try flashing the stock recover/firmwares through Odin or RomToolKit. I'm hoping you didn't somehow mess up the partition on the internal.

okay thank you will try it now and report back.
Need help too
I have a very similar issue right now and am able to still access download/recovery mode. I attempted to use the TOOLKIT V3.0.0 for att to restore back to stock. But the problem is it says "waiting for usb debugging to be enabled" which obviously isnt going to happen since it cant boot. Is this still the case with trying to flash back to stock in Odin manually? Please help. I spent practically every penny on this new phone and havent even had it a week...
Set up odin on your computer...go to sammobile.com dl your fw for your phone..extract it to a .tar. .open odin. Press pda put the. File in yhat slot. Make sure only auto reboot and f reset are cheakd...make sure phone is in dl mode flash away

You can always use the advance mode in twrp to copy the file over from external to internal and then flash. Also I'd you have the right drivers installed on your pc you can just connect your phone to computer and copy the ROM over to internal sd. If twrp isn't reading the external do a recovery reboot and try again.

hi i am rooted s-off, my phone was in a loop running CM7.
I mounted to pc formatted it is FAT32. I am sure I was out of order here but now the sd card is empty and the phone boots onto hboot and i can get into clockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.0 but I do not know what to do to as my card is empty. I backed the sd card up to pc prior to reformatting. Any help please. I have no communication but this phone where i am

You can mount your SD card in recovery under Mounts and Storage. Then copy your SD card info from your PC to it. If you have a ROM zip, I'd go through the process of flashing a new ROM and starting from scratch.

Okay I will give it a go. thank you
I really needed to get the phone running so I took your advice and flashed stock+ rom and at least that worked so I have my phone back. But my 200 apps and the rest are on my pc and I really dont want to stay with this ROM i usually am running CM&. Would you mind telling me the most sucessful way to get a different Rom and my apps back. I do have experience but dont trust myself after the mess I got myself into. I would appreciate any input, I Thank you
So I rooted my SGS3 for the First time today. Got root access. Got my favorite root apps (still on the stock rom btw) and decided to flash a custom rom. I tried to flash the Wicked ROM and used a Superwipe before it. After that I rebooted the phone and the rom never booted. Went back into CWM and when I tried to install another rom or backup, nothing was there. Says file not found or something. Doesn't even show the sd card files I have. Confused. Any help?

What I've come to understand is that the files need to be on internal storage but I can not access the internal storage anymore. I can access download mode but not internal or external storage via usb cable. Any help? Thanks

Try restoring back to stock with odin.
Edit: To use odin all you need is access to download mode which you have...
what do I need to restore to stock? I do not have a stock rom. And it only accepts tar files
It is impossible to brick this phone.

It possible. Just flash an international rom . I get what your saying tho. Odin ftw
Sent from my SGH-T999
so how can a file be pushed into the internal memory. Because cwm is not readding any files off the sd card. And they are there. Not sure how to flash a rom from odin, if that is even possible. Because it only accepts .tar files. and I believe md5's
I suggest seeing this post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31890391&postcount=2
It is located as post 2 of the top OP in the Q&A thread.
Good luck
thanks. I got the phone back to stock recovery and a stock rom. Just can't get it recognized by my laptop. Not sure if it's a driver issue or what. But can not find the internal or external drives in "My Computer".
So my phone is in a bootloop. I made a dumb mistake, and restarted my phone to be met with a bootloop. My question is - is it possible for me to get my files off of the phone before reinstalling/doing a fresh install? I have access to both download mode and CWM Recovery - I just have some files on here that I really need, and unfortunately, they aren't replaceable. Is there anyway for me to get them off of my phone? I'm running WFTN.
I've tried starting up CWM and backing up to external-sd, but every time I do I get a "can't mount backup path" error. So I go to Mounts and Storage and try mounting my external sd, but I get a "Error Mounting /external_sd!" message. Can anyone help me out?
Edit
Actually, I managed to get the files I needed. I needed some recordings off of the phone, and I was able to plug my phone into my computer via usb (in CWM) and it gave me access to the phone's internal SD card. So I suppose all that's left is actually re-flashing the ROM. I was running an older version of WFTN, I suppose i was due for an upgrade anyway.
However, I suppose my original question remains - is it possible to backup the files on the phone (without using the usb)? Is there a reason I was unable to mount my external sd card?
Just because you are flashing a rom doesnt mean your recordings or anhthing on your sd card is wiped when you flash a new rom. The exception being if you use odin to put a oneclick of a jellybean rom on. Then it wiped internal. And if you are worried about sd card just pull it out. Iirc I was always able to pull files from both internal and external while in recovery using el26 kernel. Not sure where the problem was. But glad to know you got your files.

Hello all, I recently purchased a new GS4 tmobile variant and have rooted it via Odin. SU shows up in the app section and TWRP installed successfully. My problem is when I attempt to flash a new rom i.e. GE 4.3, I almost immediately get a FAILED message and cant get it installed. I created a backup and have been able to restore so its not been an issue however I really cant figure out where im going wrong. The zip file is on my SD card but no luck... I'm just looking for some direction,
Thanks Andrew

if you installed the rom correctly to the sd card, using twrp, you should be able to do your wipe data factory reset, wipe cash and dalvik, then press install from sd card, choose zip from sd card and install. make sure the rom is on the root of the sd card. when i first started flashing i was having a issue because my device was mounted incorrectly and the rom was not going to the root of my sd card. i started using a card reader that i can mount as a disk drive and send the rom to that. that solved my issues. also i seemed to be having issues with twrp on my device so i started using it and installed clockwork mod touch recovery and things started working then. Also be sure you are trying to install the correct rom for your device variant.i hope this helps some. good luck

The .zip file is in a folder called ROMS i created on the root of the internal memory. Right now im stuck without anything as my backup seems to have failed now as well. I've flashed many roms before and have never run into this so im stumped! I've tried using both CWM and TWRP but both through a "failed" error. I downloaded both the rom package from the Tmo variant GS4 forum so i think they should be right...

I think ive found your issue. You said you placed the roms in a folder, try this, put the rom DIRECTLY on the root of your sd card, NOT in a folder. Give this a try and let me know. I know when flashing with my last device, the rom could not be placed into a folder, it had to be placed directly onto the root of the sd card. So try going back to the computer and mount as disk drive and directly place the rom onto the sd card, then just scroll down to find the rom while in recovery and this SHOULD work. I had a issue mounting as a disk drive so I just used a micro sd card reader and placed my sd card into the card reader, this automatically is recognized as a external disk drive and I'm able to place rom directly to root of sd card this way. When I tried hooking up my device directly to the computer it mounted as a media device and would not allow the rom to be placed correctly on the root. So that's how I got around that. So keeping these issues in mind, try again and place the rom directly to the sd and NOT in a folder and see if your able to successfully flash after that. After I did these things I was able to flash without any problems. Luke I said when I first flashed these were some issues I encountered that was prohibiting me from flashing correctly. Now I don't have any problems flashing. Please let me know if this works out and enables you to successfully flash. Hope this helps
So I tried to root my Samsung Galaxy S3 by using Odin v3.07 but I think I installed a bad pda and now my phone is saying "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." I've tried everything but they keep failing I don't know what to do. My phone is SGH-I747 4.4.2.
Since your phone was running 4.4.2, do not attempt to flash any ROMs using that attempt to downgrade your bootloader to anything prior to 4.4.2.
Try this to get your phone up and running:
download the latest CM11 for the d2lte and save it to an external SD card: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=d2lte
dowload the latest tar.md5 version of Philz Touch for the d2lte from here: https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_...Edition/d2lte/
boot phone in download mode, open Odin 3.07, do not check anything except f.reset.time, flash Philz via PDA box, remove USB cable when you see the word Reset appear in the status window, remove battery, replace battery, boot into recovery, format system, Dalvik, data, and cache, flash cm11, and reboot.
How do you save it into an external sd card??
Put the microSD card into a card reader and copy the ROM to the microSD card. Make sure the microSD card is formatted using FAT32.

Oh ok im going to have to buy one are you sure this will fix it?
You could also flash a custom recovery, boot into recovery, mount the phone's internal memory, and copy a ROM to the internal storage. I know I can mount my Nexus 4's internal memory using TWRP even if my phone does not have a ROM.
I see your warranty bit is at 0. Flashing a custom recovery will change it to 1 which will void any remaining warranty on your phone.
