Hi, first of all I'm a noob. Second of all, I've been looking through some guides online on how to install Jelly Bean but they all haven't been very clear. I've already managed to unlock and root my phone and I'm trying to flash stock Jelly Bean rom onto it.
So, are there any good guides on how to do it? Thanks for your time.
Flash stock jelly bean? You normally get that if HTC released JB for your device...if it didnt flash a custom ROM which is running JB.. Just go to forums-ur device- pick a JB rom that suits you and instructions will be provided for sure, and flash it... Good luck m8

Thanks for the help! I finally found a tutorial (androidauthority.com/one-v-gsm-aokp-jelly-bean-rom-120690/) that made sense in the mean time, though. Hopefully it works!

Oh darn, I wished I'd had seen that earlier! But it's okay now, I saw a fix in the comments section and Jelly Bean is running on my phone now. Thank you for the help as well!
Ah, I feel like going for CM10. Is there any instructions on how to do this because there doesn't seem to be any step by steps in the thread?

You're CDMA or GSM? Either way download the Rom.zip that the thread provides (here in XDA) place it on your device, make sure you extract the boot.img, reboot to recovery, wipe everything, install CM10.zip and also the Google Apps.zip
This made all the difference for me my first time.

Alright, typically I don't venture into this section, but since getting wifi "error" I've decided that I am going to flash ICS (other option is to ask guys at AT&T store). But I'm pretty new to android and I have never installed a rom before (other than CM9 on touchpad following youtube vid). I was wondering if anyone could give me step by step instructions to do this? (Ideally I would not have to unbrick my phone)
Current Things I have done:
Rooted
Installed CWM via ROM manager
Backed up stock Gingerbread
*Also I am open to flashing CM9 instead if it is easier (and gets good battery life)

Thats what I feared, do all the ics/cm9 rom(s) require unbricking before or after (switching to different rom)?
*Sorry about this not being in general

Ok after I do this can I easily go back to stock, or does it get messy (like ics leak)?

you need to unbrick the phone just to install the cwm flashable version of ics leak !
no other rom requires unbrick or anything else !
just simple root and cwm does the job for other roms !
Help
Hi
Hi, I just got my Galaxy Nexus yesterday and I would like to install the original software it came with instead of custom ROMs and all that jazz. At the moment I'm running Jelly Bean, with ClockworkMod and I would just like to get it back exactly in its original state. I'm well aware there are many other topics like this out there and I have read a few myself, but I am new to Android really and don't want to screw up my phone. If someone could just point me to the exact thread with instructions for this I would be most grateful. Thank you!
not sure but this link may help its a direct link to download the stock rom for the gnexus.
follow this.

Thanks, I've stumbled upon that thread before but I just wanted to make sure it's exactly what I'm looking for.

That is precisely what you're looking for. The latest stock images are available from Google's own pages too. https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
ok I finally got some time and did everything exactly as in that guide but I still have Clockworkmod installed. Like I said, I want everything to be in its original state ( I'll even lock the bootloader once I'm done ), please let me know what else I have to do. Thanks!
LE: Nevermind, it's already removed, I'm stupid
Hey guys,
I have Desire HD for like a year I guess, and I have never tried to update stuff and jailbreak (root) it or anything..
After a long time I feel that I need to have a little refreshment for my phone and do something with it.
A friend told me that if I would update it to Sense 4 it will be just great.
and thats what i want to do, to update my phone to Sense 4.
I dont want any other ROMs that people made, just the normal HTC Sense 4.0/4.1
Can you guys help me out and tell me how can I do that?
BTW. current sense version is like 2.1 or something.
Thanks, Ori.
Sure. You'll need to buy another htc phone to get what you want.
Any rom you find here will be ported from another device. The most you'll be able to get from your carrier/htc is sense 3.0, go over to the website, download the ruu, follow the instructions.

Well, first you need to root. Read the PDF guide in post #7 of the Ace Think Tank thread for detailed instructions. After you do that, Venom DHD will work for your phone, as will all ROMs in the DHD and Inspire 4G forums.

I strongly advise that you do not use a video. AAHK comes with an extremely clear, detailed manual; if you read it thoroughly and make sure you understand it, you won't have any problems at all.

i second that. i cannot stress the importance of thoroughly reading the 'effen maunel'.
there is no 'official' htc provided ics and sense 4/.1 rom for the htc desire hd. however, developers have managed to port these roms from other devices, as well as includeing additional features. the aahk will make your phone rooted and s-off. if you are on android 2.3.5(and maybe others, in not sure) it will run twice, first to downgrade the software, and then to root and s-off.
personally, my favourite sense 4.1 rom is sabsa prime(very very stable and some nice additional functionality).
it's probably a good idea to read a bit about how to use a custom recovery and flash roms etc
have fun! :good:
Hi,
I would like to wipe out ICS & Sense 4.0 from my HTC One V and install any stable custom Gingerbread ROM. Is such thing even possible? Any pointers please? I don't need Sense at all in custom ROM. Help appreciated. Thanks.

Won't Jellybean ROM would be too much for specs of One V? I am just fed up with this phone being so slow and almost instantly starts lagging after a month's use. I need something lighter which will make sure this phone will run without noticeable lag.

Ok. Thanks mate. Sorry I am new to rooting and flashing ROM. When I try to search link for steps to install CM9 on HTC One V, I find too many results and can't decide which one is stable with minimum bugs. If you can PM me any link which I can follow to accomplish this, it would be great.
i still recommend CM10(jelly bean)
but still, heres the CM9 link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1757323
Jelly bean has project butter. So it's smoother than ice cream sandwich.

Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks! I will try this tonight and please bear with me if I have more questions.
Hello everyone!
I'm an average avid photographer that owns a kindle fire 1st gen. Its been collecting some dust for quite sometime but now that I have been taking more and more pictures with my Galaxy made me wonder if I could add some photo editing tools that I could use quickly on the fly. So I discovered Photoshop Touch ! It seems to fit my needs quite nicely but when I sideloaded it to my kindle it just kept crashing.
Now that I know it doesnt function properly on the KF1st gen because of the OS that came in with the kindle made me want to try to root and flash a diferent rom on it to see if I can use photoshop on it.
So my goals are the following for this device:
1. Photo Editing
2. Light Reading
3. Web Surfing
4. Listening to music
What would be the most effective way to achieve this ?
What would be the best rom for this tasks in that particular order?
Is there a way I can dual boot the stock rom and the custom rom so I can use it for 2,3,4 and boot the custom one for just photo editing ?
Thanks in advance for reading my post and for any help, tips or insights on how to achieve this.
Ichigo said:
You cannot dual boot stock and a custom ROM, but you can dual boot GR9 Modaco ALT and a custom ROM. GR9 Modaco ALT is basically stock with root. Photoshop Touch will work on Jellybean.

Android 4.1.x and later & CM10 and later are all Jellybean. Your best bet is to install a normal jellybean ROM and use Gr8 alt-ROM (MoDaCo) for the alternate boot.

Did you flash the ROM zip and then gapps zip in twrp? If you did, you might try a clean install again.

Yeah I didnt notice there was an app right there on the tablet.
I didnt dual boot because I discovered that the Hellfire was good enough and I was able to achieve everything and it really flies. I regret not doing it sooner.
