Hi, does anybody know a good High-Speed camera app for the international Galaxy S (i9000)?
I'm running cm 10.0 and the stock camera app only does 30 fps no matter which resolution I set and I'm looking for sometihng more like 60 fps.
Any suggestions? Thanks
Our camera can reach up to 30 fps due to hardware limitation. I don't think that we can do something with an app.

I used to have an old i900 Omnia and that did slow-mo videos at pretty low resolution but they looked cool, so I thought that if the hardware is not a problem for the Omnia, it won't be for the Galaxy either.
Try lgcamera

Tried lgcamera before and the max fps I got was [email protected] 582x480 resolution despite having selected 60 fps in the settings menu, so I guess that doesn't work.
I don't really know about the FPs since i still don't know hot to do it
but i do experience this. when I used my CM 10.0 the camera is taking so much time to open, and inside the camera app (the stock one) the cam seems to be so heavy to run (I assume the fps would be 25 - 29) . but few days ago I changed my ROM into Xylon 0.2.1 (which is 4.2.2 rom) and the camera app is awesome. its not taking a lot of time to open and its much smoother than when i used my CM 10.0
I don't really know why but, this what i experienced.

Perhaps you should clear the data of the camera app or, if that doesn't work, try re-flashing.

Ok, so I tried fast burst and ultra burst camera but they're rather useless, at about 10 pics a second they're almost 3 times slower than the stock camera app which takes around 25 frames in a second while recording video. Then I tried iMPlayer+ and played a 30 fps video in slow-motion, it didn't actually look that bad but I recon it would look way better with a video of 40-50 frames. So the problem still seems to be capturing at more than 30 fps for a video to look good in slow-motion playback.

I had a wave 2 sometime ago and it had an option to record slow motion qvga at 120fps. Does i9000 GB stock have this, I don't remember.

If "GB" means GingerBread than no, it doesn't have 120fps @qvga, I have cm10 on my i9000 and I came from GingerBread 2.3.4 and it didn't have any.

I am just wondering if anyone knows if the 120fps for slow motion video is a hardware cap or is it hard coded into the camera app?
Just curious as to if we know what the capabilities of the Image processor in the phone is - maybe a little tweak here or there and we can get even slower motion video that doesnt blur like being slowed down in software...

The hardware cap is 108fps I think, but I don't think it ever reaches that high. Every slow-motion video I've ever recorded looked like a normal one slowed down a bit.
It's a shame, because the LG Viewty (which was released about 5 years ago) had 120fps video recording, which was absolutely fantastic
I imagine we'll be able to push the fps higher with camera mods though.
As mentioned I've noticed that fast motion is clearer than normal recording just sped up so I think the hardware is doing something. Would be nice to be able to tweak the fps

how to fix that ? can custom rom do that ?like ARHD maybe?
I'm sorry for bad english
I'm going to buy One X(or One XL) when it released at South Korea.
So I'm searching its specs & informations.
I heard there is frame drop issue when taking 1080p video recording.
First, it took 19fps, and after a firmware update, it takes 23fps at the moment.
Then what about 720p video recording?
Does 720p recording support 30fps perfectly? Or It has same issue?
Are there any news to fix this software problem from HTC?
My 1080p Videos has 19,36 FPS and the 720p has 23,1 FPS.
I use my One X with ARHD 5.1.1 & Bricket-Kernel, still got no OTA to 1.29 so ive got old Radio!
But there are 2 Cam-Mods out there which push the Mbit/s and the Framerates, but aware this are BETA's!

thx to reply.
So 720p recording also has FPS issue huh?
Don't know why HTC doesn't release patch to fix it.
I heard ONE-S(snapdragon 4th model) doesn't have any FPS issue at all LOL.
It's so weird that ONE-X got video recording problem... This one is way better flagship model
First of all, hardware wise the H1X can do [email protected] You can download Camera ICS from Play Store and see for yourself. However, the stock camera capped fps to 24. Thats really sux.

You mean third party camera app can take 1080p recording smoothly, right?
However, stock camera app doesn't support 30fps. So it seems camera application has problem. Am I right?
But Camera ICS app doesn't support Burst shot I guess... hmm.
Neither taking photos while recording.
Anyway, I don't have H1X lol.
First of all, to clear the misconception, I have done A LOT of testing on the video recording capabilities of the HOX. Firstly, ALL camera apps that I have tried have DROPPED frames when recording.
Dropped frames are the sudden jitter and lag during recording. Generally video is recorded at 30fps, but throughout recording and playback, the frames get dropped very often.
Dropped frames and low FPS are NOT the same. Low FPS seems to be constant, during low light it drops to 17fps or so, but well lit areas 30fps MAX. Just go record a short 30 second clip and you will see what I mean. Every few frames you can see the video stutter and then FPS picks back up. Very bad, and very irritating. There doesn't seem to be a fix to it yet.

only a few days ago then it started to officially support the one x.
Nice, just installed the Pro version, photo's uncompressed, you'll get a file size of 4,5mb, instead of the 1,5 of htc, better quality
you can record movies in 3gp and mp4.. I've set it to mp4, because that runs better on the One X
also the bitrate to 30mbps, instead of the 7 you get from stock htc camera
stereo quaility record on 320kbps and 48hz
218mb for 1min mp4 movie, hmm haha
maybe I should try 20mbps bitrate
Do you have drop frames in video?

Same happens to me when I try to activate the stabilisation in the camcorder.
Great camera app, I'm playing with it at the moment trying all options and buttons.
Recording in mpeg4 with video bitrate of 100Mbit and video framerate 30 plus resolution 1920x1088. (5 seconds video is 16,9mb)
Switching between picture and camcorder works fine for me and also stabilisation I've enabled, no freeze.
I still use the free version.
I can switch between picture and camcorder without problems.
Also stabilisation I have enabled.
Edit; the camcorder is very very nice, without it the camcorder is great as well but if the zoom would work fluent it would be a kick ass camcorder!
Edit 2; the zoom does work fluent! You can zoom in and out with the volume button WOW !!!!
Last edit; the zoom isn't fluent but I can live with that (hopefully it can be fixed in futher development), bought the pro version.

* Auto rotate video

On my stock HOX the free version of lgCamera hangs whenever I go to video-recording mode forcing me to click the menu button to exit the app. It also, somehow, manages to shut down the camera service making even the stock HTC camera to malfunction!
So far the latest Camera ICS (free version) has managed to work flawlessly with my device, making incredible videos that are almost 500mb in size for a 2min clip, but remains on the 24 frames all the time. Videos do look smooth though.
What I want to know is if someone using lgCamera has managed to bypass the stock framerate limit of 24fps? And what are the results?
I'm on a no rooted stock HOX as well, latest 1.29.401.11
Weird but all does function fine for me, no freeze nothing.
I've set the frame rate at 30 but how can I check if it's real 30?
Edit; your right, last video does 21 frames per second.
Edit; my apologies I just realise by reading your post a second time that you do not have any problems on latest version as well.

Hi again,
I've just had a very fast reply by email from the developer of lgCamera.
He told me that previous version 6.25 did hang sometimes but latest version 6.3 is checked on all mode and shouldn't.
Are you running the latest version?

exactly the same issue with paid app, latest version.
it's the only app so far that managed to **** up the stock camera, needed a reboot to get it working again
i also have wrong aspect ratio in the viewfinder after pressing record, when shooting video, but the recorded material is fine....
So far Camera ICS+ is superior, even with 24fps.
The developer of lgCamera has opened a new thread for beta testing
in the general apps and games all device Android section >> HERE
Yes I downloaded the latest free version from the market. I downloaded by other means the old pro 1.25 version and it works flawlessly, it manages 30fps while recording from a moving vehicle! Strange, right?
You can check the framerate and other properties of your videos by opening those files with MX Player.
So, does the newest version lgCamera in your case, create videos with a higher bitrate than the stock camera?

A while back CM12 had a patch that enabled 4K video recording. I remember that it even worked SOME of the time, but mostly it showed to be recording without saving anything. Currently on CM12 and Blisspop the option is again removed - probably because it was buggy: review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/103494
I've tried many different camera ZIPs from other manufacturers (Motorola cam, Lenovo cam) but they do not appear to enable 4K either.
I tried playing around with the media_profiles configuration file, uncommenting the 4K profile. This does enable 4K video recording - even saving, but the framerate is really bad (<10), both with stock and third party cameras.
So my question: Did anyone ever get smooth 4K video to work on AOSP? If so what was the combination of software used?
yes it did work for idiots who;
1) flased xXcameraXxfix_AROMA_VIPERPRO_v4_FAKXDA_LIKE_SUBSCRIBE_DONATE_YOUTELLMEBUGS.zip
2) set the resolution to 4K
3) shot a video
4) never realized it didn't even save, even if it did, it was lagging between 5 and 15 fps
TL;DR
no, it did not, i have flashed all the 3rd party crap from random monkeys claiming they fixed the camera on aosp promising stock quality
to those who come in here telling me it does, provide proof or gtfo

BUT, is there any non-stock ROM with STOCK camera quality? No 4K, I do not need that, only 1080p (60 fps or 30).
Nope Coki4, unfortunately Tehosiris is right: with the HTC cam and resolution "fix" I can record in 4K, but it is still way too low framerate (15 FPS or worse).
Voterx: To me 4K is most important, hence the thread. If i want proper pictures I take my DSLR anyway... 4K video is something that is really a beautiful thing if you have the screen to display it. There is a huge difference between 1080p and 4K.
To me it is starting to look like the camera driver in AOSP source is just not able to push the pixels?
Snap camera does it. I have also found that snap camera takes as good, or better in some cases, pictures as the stock camera.

What are you doing to get those file properties? Want to check what my jerky files say..
edit:
Properties here also shows 30 fps, but the video is jerky as fuuuuuu* - i guess it is saved "as" 30 FPS but it just drops a bunch. Yes it is 4K but def not 30 FPS, even if the file shows it to be (for me).
but.. if it is smooth for you I want to know your exact rom details so I can try to achieve my holy grail.
can one of the digital cowboys upload these fabled 4k videos shot on aosp?
i still yet to see a nonstock 4k video that doesn't lag like ****
@geekmystique the jerkyness doesn't show in properties, they are just the same as regular videos, you can check the properties in root explorer or any other file explorer.

your 2nd screenshot shows that the 4k video is in 59.9 fps, now THAT i'd like to see.

edit: judging from the amount of silence after the bigface comments, i assume it takes an awful lot of time to upload the fabled 60fps 4k video (translation: someone is full of **** and/or clueless)
Let's not make this into a flamewar of sorts.
This is a video I took of my hand waving in front of the camera, whatever the file info says, it is not 30 FPS - by far, it is dropping frames like crazy. The file properties say 30 FPS in MPCHC, but windows properties shows the truth: 18 FPS.

i suggest you take a look at the camera comparison post here on xda, showing stock / moto / htc / whatever side-by-side
there is no such thing as stock quality on non-LG driver backed software
Anyways, i'm absolutely on geekmystique's side here, i've had multiple people giving me lectures how i need to flash xyz.zip set ABC settings to DEF, align my device towards Mars, count to 7 and stand on my left foot to have AMAZING STOCK QUALITY PHOTOS AND VIDEOS.
Guess what, i've done all those steps, flashed all the zips, pirated all the ****ty apks and gotten nothing but disappointment.
Thats why there is sarcasm towards these 'BUT MY AOSP CAMERA IZ BETTUR BRUH YOU SUK', when it's clearly not. Hell, half of the conversations ended at 'WHO NEEDS 4K' or 'I DONT NEED CAMERA ANYWAYS' which is ridiculus when it's these people giving lectures on how to flash stuff they don't even know what it contains.

You must have done some mistake while following the guide.set the exposure slider to little bit less than half and then point the camera to where frames becomes smooth, adjust slider more if required or set the iso to 3200 and then lock the exposure metering. Now after you start recording, frames may become laggy, slide the exposure bar little bit more and you will get 30 fps video. You have to do this thing once only.
just found out that using third party app, we can get 30fps video in camera...
Looks like we have to live with the third party things forever. Cheers Xiaomi for making such a great camera centric smartphone.
hahaha, Lol Xiaomi...
Xiaomi I don't know why has given slow mo 120 fps at 720 p and 1080 p at 60 fps. Even third party apps when used are limited to 30 fps on 1080 p. While using the same 3rd party app on redmi note 4 will give 1080 p at 60 fps. This is weird cause redmi note 4 has a much worse camera performance than mi a1 but has better hardware it seems.
Third party app I used was Moto camera.
