So I have the deodexed zip but its for LJC.
Instead of flashing the entire zip can I push just the apk's?
Is it OK to flash the deodexed zip as is? I figured it wouldn't get along with MA7 very well.
The file in question is: "STOCK DEODEXED L900PALJC.zip"
Thanks,
Jonathan
There is a mutliwondow mod for LJC. I wouldn't use a MA7 mod on LJC.
You can try using a MA5 on a MA7, but no guarentee it won't work or bork something. Just Nandroid to be safe.
If you're going to MA7, then I would suggest going all the way--rom, modem, kernal, etc. It has some security fixes. Some people find it's "snappier". Others find data speed improvements.
Personally, I've been using MA5 mods for mutli window and 4-1 reboot on MA7 and seem to work fine. I use Perseus kernal instead of stock MA7 one.

I think you misunderstood my post.
I'm on Stock MA7 rooted with TWRP right now. MA7 baseband, MA7 build, Kernel says "3.0.31-903705 Jan 29 KST 2013." I'm assuming that's the newest... got it from this thread. Downloaded the MST. The date definitely changed, but it doesn't "say" MA7 so I'm not 100%. Still doing alot of reading, only a few days in with the Note.
I didn't see in the Dev section that there was MA7 deodexed roms there. My bad...
I wasn't paying attention when I was the stock kernal, but MA5, MA7, LJC, LK8 are firmware/rom references to the last three characters. I don't recall ever seeing it with the kernals. As you stated, I think it's more a date with kernals since a kernal could be use on mutliple firmwars, depending on the rom/firmware.
I use Persues Kernal which is lists build and date.

You can use any available modem with any rom or cwm that you may be interested in. They are entirely seperate things. You can get the modems in the thread below. You need to use Odin to flash them. I believe there are sufficient instructions and videos.

For each new build, or software attempt at a build, they label it with a date code which corresponds with the baseband version or the modem. So EC05 is the accepted modem for Froyo. There have been many Gingerbread leaks so far, EF02, EF10, EG22, EH06 and EH17. They each came with an updated modem. However a lot of people have found it best to try these leaks and not update the modem and stay with the EC05 modem. The modem software basically tweaks the actual radios on the phone. So results vary by phone as to what would work best for you.
Hey,
So since the OTA update has just been announced for EK02... if I am rooted on a custom ROM, do I need to go back to unrooted stock in order to receive it? Or should I just wait for someone to make a .tar of it? What are you guys doing with this news here now?

stock
mrush, I think it depends on how fast you want to get to EK02 to fix any LoS or hotspot issues (see notes on Sprint site). You can go back to stock and let the OTA proceed in the next 10 days (which means you will have Carrier IQ again - if you care). That's a negative for me. Otherwise, you can wait for the XDA developers to update their kernels and ROMs, which they will start to do, with the EK02 kernel and modem updates over the next few weeks (with Carrier IQ removed).
Ok thats wwhat I was thinking I would do. I do not want carrier IQ and I want to go straight to Calks version of ek02 but once they are able to pull the modem and get it put in place of EG31.

There is experimental Disabling of CIQ on EK02 w/o requiring a custom ROM flash here:
[ROOT][NCIQ][EG30/EG31/EK02] Auto root your existing stock ROM (w/o ODIN/ROM Flash)
I'll be waiting for a custom version, no spying on me!
On Calk 2.0 and EG30 modem and confused.
What exactly is the new update that Sprint is rolling out for the Epic 4G Touch? A new modem EK02? What about the stock rom itself? Some minor tweak? What if I had no LOS to start with?
I was on stock rom, and then rooted with shfub's method. I then install EG30+CWM so no change in my modem. I then backup and then flashed Calk 2.0 ROM. I did not do the new 2.01a zip which if I understand correctly, upgrades the modem to EK02. According to Calkulin, his 2.01a rom includes the following:
Based on rooted 2.3.6 / EK02
ROM includes:
Rogue kernel
Most Samsung apps
EStrongs File Explorer
HTC_IME mod keyboard
ICS keyboard
Wireless Tether
Busybox
and a couple more
Is Rogue kernel just stock kernel with custom recovery?
I flashed Calk 2.0 and this is what I have:
Android 2.3.6
Baseband version: s: D710.10 S.EG30 (so I still have the original stock modem?)
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-SPH-D710.EK02-CL704398
Build number Calkulin's E4GT ROM v2.0
My questions are:
If I have no issue with LOS, do I need to install Calk 2.01a?
Will my phone automatically update to the new one that Sprint is pushing out?(assuming new modem and new stock rom)
Will I lose root or brick my phone if the phone does that?
Can I just flash an EK02 modem on top of my current Calk 2.0 or wipe everything and install Calk 2.01a if I want to upgrade to EK02 modem? I am not sure I want to do that unless 3G data speed is improve.
I thought I was clear on ROM packaging the kernel and modem together but now I see that you can have one ROM and flash different kernel and modem.
Please correct any of my misunderstanding above.
Thank You.
So I don't keep up on my phone game like I should. I need to do this update to my phone. And also I'm wanting to get a new Rom. If I install a newer Rom will it do that update or do I need to manually update the El 29?
105 views and no answer. Lol
Well I guess ill just have to figure it out.
assuming you are already rooted: the rom, kernel and modem can all be loaded separate. you could have an EL29 Rom and an EK02 modem. If you're rooted the possibilities are endless. Go to the development forum and all the latest rom.kernels and modems are listed there.
Right now I have EL13 Rom and EL29 kernel and modem. Find which combo works best for you.
Alright, so my phone isn't on 4.0.4 yet, and I was wondering if it would be safe to update it even though I have a custom ROM installed. The ROM I'm using is Blazer ROM EL29 v4.0, if it makes any difference.

What are you asking? Do you just want to jump to ICS?
You can use sfhub's one-clicks to get to stock rooted FF18 (the latest OTA version). With sfhub's one-clicks you can try the 'no data' version (to preserve your user data) but you may experience some wonkyness. If so use his 'reset data' to just completely start fresh. Then use sfhub's Autoroot package to add a custom recovery - CWM+Agat_safe kernel.
You can then use CWM to install what ever ROM you choose - as long as you read AND FOLLOW the developers recommendation for installing their ROM.
Nearly all of the ROMs are so polished and reliable you really can't go wrong with any of them Try them out and see what works best for you. The devs here are all pretty awesome.
I was on blazer 4.1 before jumping to ics too. I used format all zip and flashed blazer ics in recovery. I then flashed agats latest kernel right after. I believe blazer ics was using an older version of agats kernel.
Don't forget to flash the ff18 modem if you want it.

I was wondering if I could just apply the update, without using Calkulin's Format All. Like, if I were to apply the update without removing the ROM I have installed at the moment for 2.3.6. I'm not worried about a ROM for 4.0.4, just whether or not I could apply the update to my phone as is.
If you receive the ota update and try to install it, it will fail. Blazer ROM has changes to the system files that will cause it to fail. If you are on a custom ROM, there's no point in dealing with ota updates. The dev of the ROM will update it anyway.
If you want ics and rooted, then follow what leader said above. I was just saying since you were already on blazer, the blazer ics is a great ics rom.

Well sounds like your trying to 'save some time' by not going the full wipe route or the other one I suggested - use sfhub's FF18 One-click 'preserve data' (which by the way is like an OTA update they - Sprint/Sammy release interneally) and then seeing if your data keeps/is intact and there are no issues. Then adding CWM via his Autoroot.
IF you use the above method you have a very good chance that your data will be intact and you will then be able to 'move it forward' to other ICS ROMs.
From there you can flash the 'Modified_Calkulin_Format_All' which keeps data then flash the latest Blazer and see how that settles in and if you have any issues.
I've used this method on no less than three devices and all worked and worked well.
OR
You can try the 'fast way' [with which you may still end up having to do a complete 'reset data' Odin flash anyways if it tanks]
Use CWM to install the latest modem of your choice (FH13 has been great for me and many others).
ThenTry using Calkulins Modified Format (keeps you 'data') And after that flash the latest ICS Blazer.
Good luck.
Hello everyone. I'm trying to find which rom I need to download for the multiwindow mod on the Note 2 sprint variant. I'm currently on 4.1.2 with build number JZO54K.L900VPAMA7. I tried the LJC Deodex rom & everytime I try to flash it my phone keeps automatically rebooting nonstop. I wind up having to use my twrp backup file in order to get it back to normal. Someone please help. Thanx a bunch.

They should all have multi window as long as they are based on TOUCHWIZ. To enable the multi window you hold down the back key for 2-3 seconds and than the menu to select which apps for multi window appear.

You also have to check the box for multiwindow in settings or you can hold back all day and it will never work. OP you need a TWiz rom build LJC or newer, MA7 is the current OTA, LK8 and MA5 were the leaked firmwares inbetween the LJC and MA7 OTAs

I have the original multiwindow installed but I was trying to get the modified version where ALL APPS are available for multiwindow. I found 2 links from qbking77 that worked before I accepted the OTA update. I really would like to enjoy this modification workout this the multi viewing is pointless if you can only use it on a few apps. Somebody Anybody HELP.
You have to be on a deodexed rom for the mod to work. Download MA7 deodexed from t3project flash it then flash the mod and you're done
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982452 It was right in themes and apps took me all of 2 seconds scrolling thru the list to find the thread with the links to the deodexed rom and the mod. Search is your friend

Sweet Shout Out to Evil KoNCEPTz. I don't care what they say about you. ... you alright with me lol.
