Yeah, am looking on Amazon now for one I can prime in for tomorrow. I will report back tomorrow night.
Just use this guy with an existing cable:

What did you try?
You might try putting into webtop mode and plugging in a powered hub, then something else into the hub.
I too can confirm this does not work. I tried the female usb to make micro adapter. I guess the coupling does the same thing. My mouse didn't stay power on. Oh I powered my hub, btw, I didn't think my atrix could drive it. Maybe it can? I dunno
Maybe try something like this OTG cable:

works amazing well on battery life, and in webtop [MOD] mode, though it is missing f10-12 insert and scroll lock but other than that easy as hell to type and portable

I'm interested in other possibilities beyond HID, like attaching a USB HDD.

I thought that device need a special OTG cable to work as host, but it was some misunderstanding.
But there must be something (IC?) in the docks, that it's possible to work with normal USB keyboard/mice
It's not unlikely that the docks do some voodoo to force the phone into host mode. It should be possible to do that using software as well (at least it was on OMAP based systems using cat host > /sys/.../mode).
Unfortunately I don't have the OTG adapter with me atm ... but poking around somewhere in /sys (or alike) could be starting point.
You need to use an OTG cable and give it 5vdc.

Hey guys. I bought this http://www.ebay.com/itm/10cm-OTG-Mi...737062?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item5ae61d4ee6 and tried on my new HTC One X. It didn´t fit so I had to push on it little bit. After that I find out that on this **** product is some metal attact that I removed with my nail. I attached and force this **** to my lovely phone. Do you think I could damage the usb input of One X? Or shall I be worried? It works but I dont want to have it damaged..
So anyway, this **** doesnt work, so can you please help me to buy new micro USB to usb host adapter?
I am sorry for my english. Thanks
I dont think there`s a difference between brandings of the cable... looks like u`ve just had no luck
My one works good... used it to connect my PS3 Controller to the device.

Are you also able to use USB storage with it?
I tried the Samsung MicroUSB to USB adaptor and my One X refuses to recognize my Xbox360 controller
The One X doesn't support USB host, unfortunately, so external storage, controllers and keyboards will not work.

Yep. There's some discussion about it in the general area, I believe - noone noticed it wasn't in the specs, a bit of an oversight really...

Did u connected it properly? It works just from 220 V using pc USb it doesnt work, also put phone in the dock till end
what about your usb cable? is it still good? sometimes the micro usb adaptor are getting loose, and it is sometimes connected n disconnected.
solution is, u try with another usb cable first then lets see if it works. if the problem still persist, it might be your dock charger problem.
Looking around to see if anyone have ever used a micro USB to HDMI MHL adapter for the Xperia Z/ZL.

We just can't use the MHL adapter that is specific for Galaxy S3 / S4.
The standard model (for Galaxy Nexys, Galaxy S2, HTC Evo 4G Tablet, HTC Sensation 4G etc) is the one that works perfectly.
I order this one from ebay, will post the results once received.

yup i have 2 different MHL adapters i bought some time ago. Both works great. Cheers :good:
I ordered an MHL adapter from Amazon this weekend, they delayed my order and when it was ready to ship they had a snag with my usual form of payment. But by the time I was ready to fix it, the Chromecast had come out.
I wanted the MHL adapter to stream HBO Go content to my TV, since there is no PS3 app and my Samsung TV doesn't have an app for it. With the Chromecast, it seems like this can be fixed by being able to push the content from HBO Go and other sources directly from my phone or my Chrome browser. Looks interesting, and for $35, it's worth a shot. I cancelled my MHL adapter order and placed a (late) order for a Chromecast.
We'll see.

I continued to play around with the MHL adapter. I noticed that the remote control of my TV does not control the ZL when connected. After some searches, I figured that the MHL adapter needs to be RPC/CEC compatible as well. I have a Samsung LED TV with have Anynet+CEC. I used to connect Xperia Arc over HDMI and was able to control from remote control. So when buying MHL adapter make sure it is RPC/CEC compliant!
Hi guys I have an xperia zl. The ebay link provided does not allows delivering to my USA adddress. Do you know if this will work? http://www.amazon.com/Menotek-Adapt...sation/dp/B005F9W6DU/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

Mirroring is only available in selected Sony Tvs..but cable can be used with any having an hdmi connection.
Quality wise not much of difference in video but audio is better via hdmi

Hello Venexiano,
Did you manage to get this cable to try out on the Xperia ZL ?
http://www.amazon.com/Menotek-Adapt...sation/dp/B005F9W6DU/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
I too, am looking at this cable. But, I don't want to buy it until I see someone reporting back on the forum if this is fully working with our Xperia ZL.
One particular user comment says this, which is a bit worrying:
Will NOT output 1080p. Only outputs in 720p.
Works ok on Gingerbread... But
ICE CREAM SANDWICH BREAKS THIS MHL ADAPTER.
If you plan on upgrading to ICS... DO NOT BUY.
Any advice/info is appreciated. Thanks.
Hey,
I did not buy any cable yet since I got no answer to my question. Please let me know if you find a solution that works. I might post this in some other forum and I let you know.
thanks
Alberto

Would not recommend adapters. Not all USB C is created equal and an adapter is not a true USB C cable.
