Have an DInc2 with a broken power button (doesn't work/respond, but phone will turn on when receiving a phone call) and phone is out of warranty. Are there any alternatives to powering on the device such as a USB wake command (this phone is non-rooted) or any other suggestions?
You can get a new button on Ebay. I have not done it but have read about others successfully repairing the power button.

You can root it and get button replacement like saviour
You might be able to set volume wake up though I'm assuming you're stock and I haven't used that since I got the phone
Easy wake is what you'd want to enable widget locker has an option for it and so do some roms
Also you can set widget locker to lock on search long preas
Theoretically there are other options like external hardware
Button replacement is a good idea if it won't respond at all otherwise once you turn it off it becomes a paperweight

My power button has been unresponsive more and more. This morning my battery fell out and the power button is not working yet again. I took it apart and the button seems to function properly but it is unresponsive for some reason. The phone works fine other than the power button issue. I'm wondering if there is a different way to power up my phone other than the power button.
Thanks
Some custom roms will power on the device when you plug in the charger. There's also roms that'll let you wake the screen with the volume buttons (may even be an app for that). Sorry I can't name specific roms...I just can't remember which ones do it.

If the power button isn't working properly, take it back in to Sprint. It's under warranty.

Sometimes my Wildfire S lock button doesn't work, sometimes it works. Maybe it's just me, or I think it is broken.
Do you think there is a way I can unlock my phone without using the lock button? Thanks!

My power button has suffered the same fate.....One way is to use a Rom with the "Volume rocker wake" feature
Or if you want risk it you can buy a replacement power button online
IMHO you'll get used to it after some time....just press the power button with little extra force
Or you could give it to your service center for repair, free under warranty. If not, then you can pay them and get it fixed.
Mine also has the same problem, even my volume down doesn't work with a normal press. Gonna send it to CrapTC soon.

you could install apps that use proximity sensor or volume button to unlock.
Or but the power button flex online and check youtube tear down videos and replace it your self.
If any Devs get a chance can you please MOD the new update to include Volume Rocker Wake. Or show me how to do it step by step? it would be greatly appreciated since my power button is dead. Thanks in advance
how do you restart your phone if the power button is dead? How is normal use affected? Curious because im always paranoid about mine breaking lol

Besides having to wake the phone, the power button is useless to me. I use apps like RomToolBox to restart and go into recovery. Goo.im App can go into recovery as well. When the phone dies during business ours, which never happens, I can plug it into a usb and boot up by holding vol+and vol- to boot or just put into my cars dock and it boots without power button. I use CM based roms with volume rocker wake. besides that, the phone also wakes from unplugging and plugging chargers...Power button doesn't really matter to me as long as volume rocker wake is enable.
im interested in this as well, my power buttom died once already and got it fixed, but I try to press it as little as possible.
so op, your power button isnt 'stuck' but totally broken? im just scared the my button will stick and stay in a bootloop. Btw you can use 'spob' app to wake the phone using the proximity sensor. Right now im using switch pro and lock the phone and spob to wake it - dont have to use the powee button at all haha

A friend broke his phones power button.
Is there any way to remap power to another button?
And if there is would it work for turning on the phone?

He might just have to use the home button to turn it on, and download a sleep button from the play store. That's probably the easiest way.
Yes there are several ways to awake the phone. But Broken Power button will post a lot more challenges if you happen to turn off the phone. Best have it repaired.
the power button does work kinda (its super sensitive if you slide your finger over it without pushing it down, it will activate).
say i disable it while the phone is turned on would i still be able to turn the phone on with it?
So long physically its working fine, the button will turn on the phone from power off state. Any mods you do to disable it will only affect when Android is operational. Some of the Roms for the S3 do allow to change the button that will awake the phone. Typically the home button will be the alternate choice. Also there are apps in Play Store that do this as well.
thanks for all the help i really appreciate it
Hi! I'm having troubles with my power button it just doesn't work sometimes mostly when the screen is on I press it and it doesn't work, and I don't know how to reboot since I need that button for that too.. I think is software problem and not hardware since it on, y has one week and it appears just sometimes, I can't find the cause yet, could it be the case with magnet?
Thanks
I always install elixir widgets from the app store and create a reboot widget. It offers reboot, recovery, boot loader, and shutdown.
But if you shutdown, and the power button is not functioning, you'll need to wake the device via adb.
There probably is a dedicated app also.
