I'm sure by now all of you know Realook to be either the best or one of the best screen protectors for our phone. Yesterday I was looking for a new pack since I scratched mine really bad (would have KILLED the screen without it but screen is flawless now) and amazon has 2 versions of the Realook screen protector.
Version 1 (Normal one everyone knows which gets lots of glare and fingerprints):
http://www.amazon.com/T-Mobile-Sams...sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=mobile&qid=1303505838&sr=8-1
Version 2 (Anti-glare, anti-fingerprint, more expensive)
http://www.amazon.com/T-Mobile-Sams...2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1303505838&sr=8-2
They are BOTH sold from Realook on Amazon and hence are legitimately different I think. Also note the product description. The normal one lists it's ultra clear, etc while the anti-glare type lists its anti-glare and anti-fingerprint but doesn't have the "ultra clear".
I'll update this topic with a review on the product when it gets here next week. If Realook really fixed the Glare and fingerprint issue, it would be a phenomenal product.
Looking forward to your results, if it reduces glare I'm ordering one.
I'm thinking those new improved protectors will be like the stock T-Mobile ones by your and their descriptions. I liked that protector for what it did except for not covering the capacitive buttons. If this new one does I might just scoop on it.

I completely agree.
I have been using the AF/AG protector from Realook for some time. It does help immensely with glare, however you will still have a minor issue with fingerprints. Fingerprints arent as noticeable or annoying as they are on the regular SP by Realook. That said it is a phenomenal product, there is very little rainbow effect from the SP contrasted with the original. You will likely notice a rainbow effect of sorts, at full brightness, imo a minor issue. I also like the way the screen feels compared to the glassy feel allows your fingers to move across the screen much more fluidly.
Mine just shipped. What do you mean by "way the screen feels". I LOVE how the normal Realook screen protector feels. I LOVE that glass smooth feeling.
Is the new one textury and rough? That would be sad lol.

it has very little texture, its smooth, but not quite as glass like as the original RL screen-protector. I have not been disappointed, i suspect you will feel the same.
If possible can we get a picture of how the screen looks with the anit glare realook protector on. I am using a $2 ebay one and would like to see if it is comparable.
absolutely ill update with a pic once i find my camera. tho i will say it is far superior to all the other screen pro's ive tried.
I have received, installed, waited 5 minutes, and promply uninstalled this product.
I had the original Realook Screen Protector and this new Anti-Glare version just does not stand up to the original.
Pros:
-Nearly removes all sources of glare
-Fingerprints are reduced but NOT removed
Cons:
-DESTROYS screen quality. If you spit on your screen with a normal Realook Screen Protector and then smear it, you will see a little rainbow effect that looks very ugly. Now, this screen protector has that effect UNIFORMLY everywhere on the screen. I literally wanted to pull my hair out. The screen quality was dead and this phone looked worse than an LCD phone. The screen protector also affects sharpness. It made EVERYTHING more fuzzy while adding the terrible rainbow.
-Texture is mostly smooth, definitely not as smooth as the original but it is not bad
-Fingerprints are reduced but are still present. They are just easier to wipe.
Overall I feel this is a TERRIBLE product. It MASSACRES the quality of the SuperAmoled screen this phone has. I have promply reinstalled my old Realook screen protector and am happy about it.
I am currently returning this product.

I was wondering who wrote that amazon review lol
Thanks for helping me steer clear of this product.
Hahah yeah I am just warning you. Maybe it's a good product for phones with crappy screens or for people who don't care what a screen looks like.
For a Vibrant, it is just ugly.
Don't get me wrong though, the original Realook screen protector for the Vibrant is still the best screen protector for this phone
Just got the Realook anti-glare/anti-fingerprint screen protector in the mail - boy am I disappointed. This is my first screen protector, and I uninstalled after an hour or so...
Pros: It did remove nearly all glare, so props on that. As far as fingerprints go, it still left some, but not as much as the stock screen, and they were EASY to remove. Also a very easy install, so that was good.
Cons: First off, the screen quality turned to complete crap (sharpness was terrible, rainbow color effect, etc). Since this phone's biggest positive quality in my opinion is the Super AMOLED screen, I didnt feel it was right to nerf the screen like this, and is the main reason I removed it after an hour. Also, the texture to me wasnt right - just didnt feel like the stock screen (felt plasticy)...
I honestly wouldnt suggest this product, I guess ill just eat the $12, live and learn...
Did you read my review lol?
Go get the original Realook screen protector. It was and still IS the best for this phone.
PS: Mine is now being returned. Email Realook to return it.
I still believe the Zagg Invisible Shield is the best of the best screen protectors. Doesnt start coming off like cheap ones do over time. Feels great to the thumb (not slippery nor does it hinder movement). And the fingerprint issue is virtually non-existant without having to resort to that horrid matte finish that kills the quality of the screen. A bit pricey (around $20) on ebay but well worth the price.
Zagg is among the top for sure. My personal preference lies with the original Realook since it preserves virtually ALL of the quality of the screen and is ultra smooth to the touch. You can't tell there is a screen protector at all.
The Zagg is amazing as well but the texture and the slight degradation of screen quality put me off. Though I do appreciate it being antifingerprint One thing the Realook isn't.
Wow I've had the anti glare ever since I bought the phone. I didn't turn it on, I bought an anti glare, put it on, then turned the phone on.
After reading your reviews, I took it off, and wow the screen is beautiful, I never would of though how much I was missing, the screen is just amazing.
Wheres my anti glare now? In the trash.
Get an original Realook protector. That way the screen will not be affected.
It has been a long time since I used a reg reallook protector maybe its time I went back
This post Trigger'd by my Vibrant
I also HATED the anti-glare version due to the screen degradation. Back to OG Realook, I can deal with the glare.
Has anyone found a matte screen protector of a decent quality? I'd love to get my hands on one.
Clarivue has a nice one.

Ill never use any other screen protector. SGP is the best http://www.sgpstore.com/sgp-samsung...dy-protector-steinheil-incredible-series.html if youre looking for the matte finish use the little pull down bar on the page and choose "anti fingerprint"
A friend has an SGP Anti-Fingerprint one for the iphone4 and trust me, it does the job as promised.
Too bad, I cannot get that in India for my captivate
I just ordered the SGP. I couldn't find a captivate version of the clarivue. Thanks for the advice, should be here tomorrow.
I keep reading reviews (alot of them 4/5 star btw) saying the sgp anti finger print makes the screen very slightly blurry. Does anyone have pictures of this protector on the phone?

No pictures, but screen clarity and quality really suffers. Especially considering our SAMOLED screens are so beautiful to begin with, putting on a screen-protector such as this makes a lot less sense.
However, saying that, it really does it's job. If you are really irritated by fingerprints and face smudge, a matte screen protector will do the job.
After a while you won't notice the difference but if you have friends/family that has a phone with a naked SAMOLED screen for comparison, you may cringe a bit. I've contemplated taking mine off after seeing my friend's naked Captivate. Gosh, it looks so good.
Matte screen protector sample images
I have used many types of screen protectors, but majority of the ones I used were matte type. I took a few photos of my Captivate with a matte screen protector for you to evaluate yourself. and here's my little review of it~
SCREEN OFF
With the screen off you can definitely tell that this phone has a screen protector. In the photo there was light coming from my computer monitor, yet, the matte protector is able to eliminate any glare. Also, the matte protector is extremely smooth, reason why most people would get one. The feel when using this phone is exactly the same as sliding your finger across a matte lcd monitor, perhaps even smoother. With the matte texture, it is very good at resisting fingerprints, although fingerprints do start to show once fingers become moist (sweat) but can be easily removed compared to none matte/no protector screens.
COLOUR SAMPLE
When colour is displayed on the phone with the matte protector, the colours displayed are still very vibrant. However, the screen itself seems like it is not as bright. You can also tell that the screen becomes slightly grainy. This is only noticeable if you have the phone very close to you... but looking at the phone a foot or more away from your face the graininess is hard to distinguish. With the max brightness on all the way, the graininess is there, however, again looking at a fair distance you won't notice it.
WHITE SAMPLE
When white is displayed on the phone with the matte protector, this is where the matte screen protector does not do as good. The graininess really shows and it looks as if there is slight colour showing (probably from the texture of the protector). It takes some time to get used to, and I suggest keeping the screen brightness down (like browsing the internet or looking at something with a white background) and keeping the phone at a fair distance when using it so that the graininess is not as apparent.
Final thoughts - In my opinion, the matte type screen protector is very good to use on your phone. The feel when using it is by far better than any other type of screen protector, perhaps better than the bare glass itself. The colours still stay rich and the screen protector proves to be very good against any glare or fingerprints. The only downside is the slight graininess, especially on white backgrounds, it takes some time to get used to, but to some people, it should not be a problem at all. In the end, it's all about preference and it really depends on what you are looking for in a protector.
Please don't ask me what brand my matte screen protector is, as people have their own opinion about which brand is good. I have tried many brands, brand names/generic and their qualities are not that different, aside from the way they manufacture it... just look for the one that is most affordable
I got one from Epikcase. Costs less than 5 bucks here.
No peeling or anything after a few months of use.

I have been using a Zagg screen protector purchased at best buy. At $20 it is quite expensive but does carry a lifetime warranty. I work as a mechanic so I am hard on screens, the box doesn't lie when it says this thing is indestructible. Six months and still looks brand new. It does take some getting used to the feel of it using swype but I will never use anything else.

IMHO, you don't need a screen protector. Check this post post
Unfortunately matte screens do a horrible job displaying anything.
Only matte finish screen protectors I've seen are the ones at radio shack. They aren't made for the captivate, they are the cut to fit ones. Other than that the only other ones I've seen are for ipod touchs and iphones.

I just purchased one on amazon from ArmorSuit. Gotta be one of the best screen protectors out there. Way Way better then skinomi and the majority that is out there. 5/5 stars. Just my honest opinion. This isn't the place I got my, but you can see all the different types.

couldn't find one here, hence bought a notebook screen protector and pruned it for perfect fit on my galaxy tab plus used the remnant for my phone.
I'm worried if I put an Invisibleshield screen protector on my GT 10.1 it will leave a permenant haze or film on the the screen when I decide to take it off. Can anyone offer any information? Thank you

3x screen protectors for $10 shipped. They're matte. Fit almost perfect (1mm smaller than the actual glass to prevent lifting).
I dont see any reason for a screen protector other than wanting to have a matte screen to remove the glare.

Most of us actually prefer our screen (gorilla glass or not) scratch-free. Having a protector gives you ease of mind when rubbing a smudge or fingerprint off too.

I just installed that exact same one from the same seller. Fits perfectly, especially around the camera and ambient light sensor. It adds a little bit of a grainy texture to the display, but all anti-glare films I've used do that. Not sure if it's really got an anti-grease / oleophobic coating as mine has some decent fingerprints, but the matte surface hides it well.
Tip to line it up the first time: before you take off the backing, line it up how you want it. Scotch tape it 3x on one of the edges, preferrably the one with the pull-tab for the backing. Make a tape handle for the opposite end of the screen. When you're ready to install it, hold the tape handle and pull the backing off with the tab, then pull the handle tight as you lay down the protector.
Trust me, I went through at least 7 different screen protectors (I got the Asus, Acer, and Samsung) and this is by far the best one out there. Good luck.

How does it stack up against InvisibleShield and the other 3M Scratchguard types? I usually don't like the texture on those.
Don't know about the ones I've been hearing about in this thread, but I've got InvisibleShield on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 and I'm probably never taking it off. It works wonders and I have the same protector for my HTC Evo. Never need another screen protector once you go InvisibleShield.
I myself have been searching for a screen protector for my tab. I have the invisishield on my evo4g, and I find that it adds quite a bit of sticky friction to swiping, or any time you drag your finger across the screen. It's not so important on the phone as it would be on the tab, so here's my question:
What sp will offer some protection, but doesn't add much friction to the touch experience.
Appreciate the input!

The one I mentioned above is smooth. The matte finish makes it feel more like high gloss paper than glass. I'm considering buying a clear protector from the same company though as the "sparkly" effect that the matte finish adds to the screen (esp. things that are solid green for some reason) is getting on my nerves.
I have the zagg invisibleSHIELD maximum protection, is was a little skeptical at first but really like it now the i have had it on for a coupke weeks. There is more grip to the tablet now, but i can still slide my fingers over the screen with no issues. I will say this though, if you have never installed something like this take your time whrn installing it.

Apologies if it has already been asked, i may have missed it.
I'd like to have a specific anti-glare screen protector, the glossy screen is not bad but still very reflective, a part from the usual fingerprints issue.
Any product that suits my needs?

thanks man, appreciated.
They finally arrived!
Good luck on putting them on
I did 5 tries and it still a tiny bit off in one corner, i'll try again when i have some more patience in a free day
The cut is too perfect, there's no room for errors when putting them on.
Any tiny mm off and you end up with a bit of bubble at the sides.
The screen protector works, some of you call it the matte screen protector, yes it does give it a matte look.
Quick frankly the phone looks more sleek & elegant, more high class with this type of screen protector on it'll combine well with the D3O matte cases.
Some people says this type of screen protector ruins the screen colour or give them headaches due the rainbowy effect, here's a close up
IMO, i think it's working quite nice, it doesn't affect my vision, however it does makes the SAMOLED+ a little bit less crispy fresh, because it does removes the glare.
This screen protector might not be the perfect thing around, but it sure does what it advertises to do, it prevents glare and prevents finger prints.
My face is always oily, and the naked screen or those other Crystal Clear type screen protectors just causes too much problem for me, as i have to keep wiping the grease off the phone every 5 minutes of use.
But with this screen protector on i can carry on without any interruption and it makes the phone much more enjoyable, productive and fun.
Definitely recommended for other people like me with greasy hair and oily hands

tell me how this goes. ironically i started a thread like 4 hours ago on the same subject.i think a slick glossy case with a matte screen protector makes a phone look beautiful.
Those are simply matte screen protectors and though finger prints are less visible, the matte coating creates horrible pixelation of the screen. I switched back to the normal clear protectors because of it.
Though I must say the matte look gives the phone a sleek look. I can replace my clear protector with another matte one if people want to see the pixelation effect. I still have a few left over.

i've been thinking if all matte screen are made the same. there are some quite expensive matte protector that i havent pulled the trigger with. maybe i will buy the one you reviewed and see if it has less rainbow effect.

any tips or tricks to putting the screen protectors on without getting bubbles or dust and lint sticking to adhesive side of protector?
If and when you place your screen protector and notice a finger print or lint, you can repair it. I use clear packing tape, cutting two strips about 1/2" wide. Place one on the top near (but not over) the area you are working with. This is used to lift the protector so you can get under it to where the problem is. Then slip the second strip under the protector, facing up or down depending if the problem it on the protector or the glass. I do it one way then the other for good measure. Once the tape is in place, lower the protector, press on the area, raise the protector, remove the piece of tape under the protector, then lower the protector to see if the blemish is gone.
Repeat where needed. Remove the piece of tape on the top by holding the protector beside the tape, and pulling the tape off the top.
This will remove fingerprints underneath the protector whether it is on the protector or the glass. It will also remove dust, fibers, etc.
It is entirely possible to place the screen protector where it is straight and without anything caught underneath, but I have used this method many times.
If you would like to see the process, search Youtube for "removing lint from under screen protectors".
I'm lazy -- I took mine to BestBuy and had them do it. It cost around $12, but they did the job right. I always seem to screw up when putting them on myself.
there is no need to "protect" the screen

I agree, it makes no sense to use a screen protector on something that has Gorilla Glass like the KF does, other than fingerprints or possibly a privacy screen protector.
I purchased the Skinomi from Amazon. It did not really help with fingerprints like I had planned, nor did it look very good on the screen - contrary to the Skinomi I have on my iPhone 4...
My fire got a light scratch on it in about a week. Never dropped, lived in its case, babied.
Get a screen protector.
(I am anal and hate even the smallest defect. It was indeed a small scratch only noticeable in certain light, but was a scratch.)

I disagree. I have Gorilla Glass on my Samsung Epic 4g which survived the same type of 'demonstrations' showed in that video. Not wanting to impact the beauty of the screen (touted as one of its primary features when the phone came out), I left mine unprotected. However, after less than a year of use, there are still a significant number of scratches on it, and even one 'chunk' missing that is visible from all angles.
Came here to see if anyone recommended a specific brand over another. While the anti-glare screens sound nice, I have also read that it impacts viewing in a negative way - sounds like something I don't want for a device designed for reading. Therefore I figured I'd stick with a clear protector, but was looking for reviews.
I've always loved and used the SGP Steinheil Ultra Crystal.
[I'll add link later]
The anti-fingerprint ones they sell are junk. They really muck up the screen. But the ultra-crystals are great and provide another layer of protection. I haven't installed mine on my Fire yet, but I will once I get around to it.
Though Gorilla Glass is amazing stuff, it is not scratch-proof. I'll continue using screen protectors regardless of what type of glass.
Interesting. I have a 2 year old Incredible with a perfect screen and never used a screen protector. I must be the most careful person on earth.

Agree and disagree. While it does hinder the quality a tiny tiny bit, I personally love the feel of the matte surface while reading a book. That, combined with anti-glare, make the clear protectors utterly useless to me. If I'm reading / watching anything, I certainly don't want to have to tilt the device to get rid of glare to see the screen clearly.
I bought the Acase matte screen protectors and absolutely recommend them to anyone. 3 pack for $12.99 shipped on Amazon. (Girlfriend loves them too)
I have an XO Skin on my Nexus and love the look of it. You really can barely tell its there and it helps a ton with the finger prints. They make one for the Fire as well: http://xoskins.com/amazon-kindle-fire-screen-protector
Be aware that this is a wet applied protector. I find the best way to apply them is the steam up the bathroom really well for a few minutes, then turn the water off for a few minutes to let any dust in the room settle. Then do a really good wipe down of the screen with a non lint towel and blow it completely clean with compressed air.
When applying the protector, use a lot of the application liquid, on the protector and your fingers.
I just installed a Skinomi protector. Still waiting for it to dry and all, but as far as I can see I removed pretty much all of the bubbles. It was around 9 bucks shipped, came well packaged with clear instructions and a lifetime warranty. As long as it the picture quality isn't disturbed, I think it's going to be a winner.
I do want to try one of those matte protectors now though...
After dealing with cheap screen protectors I ordered a couple different well reviewed protectors.
I got the armorsuit militaryshield.
It installed great, but had to apply it wet (which i don't like) and let sit for 12 hours.
It turned out very nice, you really couldn't tell it was there besides very minor screen distortion. I really didn't like how it felt, a little sticky.
I had to rma that kindle and couldn't save the shield.
So I got a greatshield ezseal
If you're looking for a protector this is the one to get.
Best protector Ive ever used.
Its basically just like the moshi ivisor for ipad.
It doesn't stick to the screen, the adhesive is on the outer edges and it basically lies on the screen -so no bubbles. you can even take it off and wash it.
I tried the Acase matte screen protectors on Amazon and they looked awful. They mute the color palette and give everything a fuzzy look. Tried the Acase clear screen protectors instead and they worked out fine. Can't see the fingerprints and the screen still looks good.
yeah matte will make it a bit fuzzy/greasy looking
the ezshield is matte

BoxWave Amazon Kindle Fire ClearTouch Anti-Glare Screen Protector
I really like how it fits, it really make the display look better.
Don't really care about scratches, but the reflections on the KF can be pretty annoying outside.
It's not really anti-Fingerprint but it's way more easy to clean.
It's also reusable.
I thk a screen protector is ideal if your banging it around or throwing stuff of it but other than theres no reason to really.
ive only had i protector on 1 one the phones ive had, all the rest of the stuff I dont have any SP on them.
I have never had any prob with the screen getting scratched.

If I could find something that would let me see the screen in the sun now that would be worth it. LOL
Is it making the screen use better outside then? And what about the use inside?

I'd definitely speak against screen protectors; I purchased a highly rated myGear one with my Fire and noticed that though fingerprints didn't seem to appear as easily, they were almost impossible to wipe off completely. It also noticeably detracts from what is such a good screen.
