Swype Beta - Sprint LG Optimus G

Does anyone else use Swype? And if so, have you experienced any issues? On 1.3 the personal dictionary won't work, if I add words it still won't show them as options in auto correct. But if I upgrade to the 1.4 beta the dictionary works. Only issue is that 1.4 crashes the messaging app when the message had to be split (over 160 characters). It's driving me nuts and I really don't like the other keyboard options out there.

I use Swype 1.4 with GO SMS and have no problems at all. Even with long messages.

I was using stock app as well. Maybe I'll try to wipe, reflash and reinstall it. Thanks.

I tried the stock swype keyboard. It didn't really work for me. Words would just not show up. It got really annoying. So I ended up downloading, TouchPal Keyboard. It's been alright but there are problems with that too. I just want something that works. I use the stock messaging app.

Here's a question...since I reflashed and still have crashes...do you enable message re-assembly-?

I tried that touchpal. I would rather type with my elbows. I hated that garbage. Swype 1.4 had been the most streamlined keyboard I have used with minimal add ons.

I really like Swype, but I'm getting sea sick watching my screen. Any idea how to fix this from Swype.

Haha i guess that is my only option. It does it more when I'm text messaging. I did try taking word suggestion off (unchecked it) but it didn't work. I think that is what is causing the up and down on the screen
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Also to fix it go to the settings app then language and input then click swype settings then go to prefences then word suggestion and uncheck word suggestion and show suggested word but keep auto-correction checked if you want to keep auto correction on
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Thanks for the info. I tried that and it didn't work. i have all the settings unchecked and the suggested word still continues to come out.

lulz? I too would like to find a fix to this problem. Using the Swype keyboard... for Swype...
---------- Post added at 02:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:15 PM ----------
Actually I just found this version of Swype
https://www.dropbox.com/s/88ar62071w8ghr0/SWYPE-ICS.apk
which is version 3.26.92.39062.
This version seems to solve the problem by keeping the suggestion bar continuously active. Kinda lame, but better than constantly resizing. Also, the accent color is blue instead of that cool orange...

You have to root, (backup and) remove current version with something like Titanium backup, reboot, then install.

Voice to text not showing up

First you are using a leaked rom which will have bugs. Which rom are you using? It was probably removed as bloat.
Second and just fyi, its not Dragon Dictation being used. Its Vlingo.
Have you gone into language and input settings and set it up to use google indtead. There are usually two options but if you are on XquiziT svoice is removed and you have to use google.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Yea I'm using the leaked Rom, not sure which one. I checked the settings and it is setup from what I can tell.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Also I downloaded Swype beta, Swype did not come pre installed on the s3, Samsung decided to make a copy or some crap
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
In language and input its Google Voice Typing you probably want. Make sure its checked.
Also i just was wondering if you are using the Flex T9 keyboard from Nuance? I think theres a setting in that keyboard you have set to use google for voice input. May be the same with swype.
Itll really help a lot if you know what rom, if any you are running. If XquiziT did you use the kitchen? What choices did you pick during install?
Have you thought about reflashing the rom? Did you wipe cache, dalvik, data?

Great, I'll check it out. I tried Jelly Bean Keyboard Pro, but it wouldn't responded to double key presses for the 2nd letter, so I gave that one up. I'm sorta becoming partial to the swipe though.

I've been using SwiftKey x and SwiftKey tablet for the last couple years or so. The suggestions are usually pretty accurate and the new feature of this version which will auto correct when several words are typed together without spaces is awesome.
Just wanted to mention Kii Keyboard. It seems pretty good so far and has a layout like a tablet with the number keys in the center
There is a jelly bean keyboard in the market that I use

[Q] how do i disable google now hotword if it keeps crashing?

hi..
i've read somewhere that google now crashes because of the hotword feature, and that you need to disable it. BUT if it crashes, how can you reach the options?
also on another note, has anyone else run into problems using the stock camera app? (i use liquidsmotth but it also had the same thing in rootbox).

Open your hard keyboard and open google. Then really fast hit one letter and hit enter on the hard keyboard. Then it will load and not crash. Only then can you disable hotword in settings.

Aosp keyboard with 5 rows (numbers)

This is not my work I will not support or post links to anything but the original post.
While browsing through countless threads one thing I see often is requests for samsungs keyboard on aosp roms. Well that most likely won't happen but this just might be what you are looking for. They are from the lg lineup. One is a simple install apk the other requires a build.prop mod.

Hacker's keyboard gives you a full keyboard, including function keys (F1, F2, etc.), escape, arrow keys (very useful when fixing mistakes in emails and texts.
It's also superb for DOS Box and other emulators. There are dictionaries for most languages. Duolingo takes great advantage of these dictionaries. The auto word suggestions speed up your typing and learning, by also introducing words with similar spelling not actually a part of the lesson.
Not trying to hijack the thread. Just stating my opinion on an alternative keyboard.

I'm on liquid and I thought I was tired of the Google keypad...mainly for lacking the number row.
I tried swift key...which was OK. Extremely similar to go keyboard. Which is ok and I like the theme ability.
Then I tried the LG key board....
I ran back to the Google keyboard...I despise that lg keyboard. And how on earth do they justify it being a 57MB app??????? I've never liked lg keyboards that much though. Always seem to lag. Even going back to non smart phones.
