Verizon galaxy nexus connection issues - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have a Verizon galaxy nexus currently running apophis's build of the Aokp with linaro. This newest build is 4.2.2. I started having service connection issues after flashing his previous build which was my first 4.2.2 Rom. I also had changed Pimp my Rom settings but have since changed them back. If I'm on a call or my phone is just sitting there it will sometimes just drop service. Sometimes it reconnects, most of the time I have to restart. I don't know what it is. It didn't happen to me before I flashed a 4.2.2 Rom. I don't know if it is the Rom or the pimp my Rom settings I had or what.

In the Verizon dev subforum, stickied at the top, is a radio thread. Download the latest radio, the one for JB. Make sure you check the md5 sum before flashing.

Thanks for the reply, this has been pretty annoying. I realized my phone has trouble switching from one tower to another. I found the sticky. Should I just flash the radios for 4.1.1? That is the newest version they have for JRO030.

Yes, afaik those are the newest radios available to us and the ones I am using. If those end up not performing for you, you may want to look into some of those hybrid radios that people use, but I cant help with those because I have no experience with them.
Make sure you check that md5 sum before flashing.

I'm intrigued...
Updated - Thank SpringRush (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25555008&postcount=162) and Krazie for getting the logcat!
Sorry for taking a while to post a new link, here ya go

Sooner or later will be able to nab the new radios.

Not that I have the Verizon Nexus .. but yeah its coming out... it was updated and it seems another user got the update as well. =]
- Galaxy Nexus
I hope someone can post the radios as flashable zip. Gotta be patient hehe
I guess if u clear the Google services framework within app and press check for update... perhaps it'll work =]… if it doesn't the first time.. try 10 more times. It will say last checked on 1969 ... disregard that
- Galaxy Nexus
Looks like it is rolling out (or at least starting to).
For anyone who has received it, would you mind looking in the log files in /cache/recovery and try and find the name of the update file (ending in .zip) please and post it in this thread. Thanks.
Cannot wait for the new radios. FC instead of FA. Wonder what they did?

Just reading through the comments on the article, seems a couple people are getting (Much) better signal strength. Whatever they did it seems to have worked! (Maybe they just poured butter all over the radio code?)

Potentially! Are they comparing them to the leaked 4.0.4 radios? Doubtful since they upgraded and were presumably on 4.0.2 lol.
Either way, someone needs to find the images and make a flashable zip. I need something to do at work, nah mean?
So if I am running Liquid (4.04) will all I have to do is flash the new radios once they are available?
Sorry for the noob question. Just got my nexus last week and new to the flashing scene.

Yes. Radios are compatible with pretty much anything. They are separate from the rom, and do not even "stick" with a nandroid.
OK I'm running the leaked 4.0.4... I'll have to revert to 4.0.2 yo receive this correct? And I installed Franco's kernel last night. Anywhere I can pick up stock kernel?

Just use a tool like Wugs or the GNEX toolkit to relock and unroot.

I am biting the bullet and flashing back to stock to try and capture it.
Don't hold your breath of course. The only reason I put any merit in this is one of the radio versions is listed in AOSP.
i actually love my rooted 4.0.4 and my hybrid radio... like others id be more interested in the actual OFFICAL radio...

I (and I'm sure all of us) appreciate it. I wish there was a way to force the update, other than sacrificing chickens and whatnot.

No need to "un-root", and no need to re-lock. Makes no difference.

OH he has the OTA. My bad, it's early for me . I was like WTF you can't receive an update with a custom rom.

No, you are right -- you can't receive the update with a custom ROM, but a rooted stock ROM is perfectly fine. Bootloader lock/unlock makes no difference.

Updating my Radios?

Ok, forgive my noobness...
I am on AOKP MS5 with Franco Kernel MS3. But, I am on the IMM30B radios (I think - baseband says I515.09 V.FA02 / I515.FA02).
I would like to upgrade to the IMM76K radios (FC05 / FC05). But, how do I do this? I know I can just flash them like any other update, but I read somewhere that it only works if coming from the 4.0.2 radios. Is that true? Do I need to downgrade to 4.0.2 radios before upgrading to the 76K 4.0.4 or can I go from 30B 4.0.4 to 76K?
Also, are the MD5 sums different for each file? I hear people saying to check the MD5 values, but they are all different. Does that mean they are actually different versions of the radios, or are MD5 values just a unique identifier for the file?
Thanks for any help!
I came from the fa02 radios too- no problems at all- just flash in cwm. the CDMA one takes a while to flash, so don't panic The md5 is a digital signature to make sure your downloaded copy is the exact same file (not corrupted) as the original, so your md5 should match the one provided by the op exactly.

What about the MD5 values? Are all the 4.0.4 76K radio packages the same thing, even though the MD5 values are different?
As I understand it, they are not all created equal. Some are upgrades from certain existing radios (may not be 100% accurate here). Anyhow, I know this one is a full radio update: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630438
I've used this one on AOKP M5 and the same radio you're on, so that one should work for you.

[Q] Radio update?

Hi,
I wonder if I need to update radio. Are there some important changes? I bought Galaxy Nexus a haf year ago, rooted and flashed a custom ROM. I do not know if it is worth, And if so, which one shall I choose? I have GSM. I went trhough a post where there were so many of links for radios and just somehow did't get which one I should choose.
Please, can you give me a really brief advice? Thank you!

The latest is FH05 and if you took a 4.2 ota then you should already have it. Personally, I see little difference in signal strength and reliability. However, I have noticed that 4.1.2 based ROMs don't like the FH05 radio very much. Regardless of the ROM I'll randomly lose all service sometimes and have just generally odd things happen. Works fine on 4.2 based builds though.

[Q] No/low signal

My gf just got the s3 for sprint. I have verizon. but she had a iphone and got good signal but now shes on the s3 she gets no signal at work. i updated the pri and profile but nothing helps. anyone know what i can do? thanks!
The Signal is dependent on many variables. Switching Carriers would be one of the those. It may that her previous Carrier had better coverage there. If she is Rooted, you could try a different Firmware / modem combo. If she is not, then the only thing you can do is Update PRL /Profile as you stated you alraedy did.
A signal booster helps tremendously! I had great coverage with my previous carrier but when I switched to Sprint I wouldn't get hardly a single bar, if any, in my condo. I installed a booster at home and problem solved!

It all depends on whether her device is Rooted or not ? If it is I would first check what the Baseband is currently. It will give an indication of what to do next. Also if her device is Rooted you may want to check out THIS thread.

Your welcome. If it's not Rooted, and she will not let you yet. At least make sure it is on the latest OTA.
You may have 4g coming your way! My signal was completely abysmal. Now I have full 4g.

Make a Nand Backup. Flash a TW Rom. Turn on WiFi, and Update PRL / Profile. Check to see it worked. If that doesn't work. While still on a TW Rom go to the Dial Pad, and dial ##72786# .

[Q] Roms for T999L T-Mobile

Im new to this part of XDA, I just recently purchased a Galaxy S3 T999L.
Purchasing this phone, I had no idea there was a non LTE Model which leads me in a bit of confusion when looking for a custom Rom
Im no rookie when it comes to flashing. If you look Below in my sig you can see the devices I currently have and have flashed different roms many times in the past. My question is what ROMs will work with my T999L? Ive looked and to my confusion have seen more for the T999 than anything since its been around much longer.. I've been looking and the forum here is a bit fragmented and its hard to see which ROM will go to which device. Please forgive me for my ignorance, Im just trying to play catch up, and perhaps contribute in the future in some way.
Edit: Im more familiar with flashing Tablets than phones, I dont have much experience with flashing radios and other phone related stuff...Is there a Difference with T999 and T999L other than the Radio?
edit 2: No comments? I guess either i said the wrong thing, or I posted in the wrong forum..
Thank you in advance
The t-999 ROMs will work with your t-999l, except the 4.3 touchwiz ROMs for the moment. 4.3 aosp/cm/aokp is fine.. There's really not much difference between the two, except the t-999l was updated to support lte.. Do not flash a t-999 modem to your t-999l, it won't brick but it won't pick up service at all. I suggest looking at the t-999l and t-999n q&a thread for further info

Thanks for your input
Don't mean to hi-jack this thread but it kind of pertains the the question. I have the T999L as well. I've read Doc's informational thread about the T999L and T999N.
In terms of this part:
"ONLY flash T999L firmware to a T999L and T999N firmware to a T999N!!!!
If it does not match your model EXACTLY, it will almost certainly brick your device!!!"
I keep reading I can safely flash T999 roms, kernels, etc. But it's the firmware process that confuses me. Should I only stick to 4.1.2 roms (can I even flash Jamison's 4.1.1 rom for example), or can I flash a 4.3 TW rom in the future, assuming the leaked builds get LTE support when the official update comes out?
Thanks in advance.

If that's true then how come the T999L wasn't updated to 4.3 alongside the T999? The 4.1.2 software wasn't even the same. No multi-window, no Note 2 photo gallery, still rockin the old "My Files" app on the T999L 4.1.2 software.....At first I thought it was just the "LTE Radio" difference but I guess there's more to it seeing the differences in software.

Firmware refers to the files used in Odin, so for those, make sure you use the ones for your device only. You can flash any ROM, even 4.1.1 I believe.. And yes once there's a leaked 4.3 firmware for the t999l you should be able to just flash the modem and then flash a 4.3 tw ROM, based on what we experienced with the t999

Thanks a lot for this. Been bugging me for a while now. I'll probably take the plunge soon and use "The Recovery Way." Rooted my first S3 using motochopper back in June or July when I first got it, but problems arose and exchanged it at Costco (just got it and WiFi wouldn't connect after a factory reset). Been scared since lol. Also scared me that I wouldn't receive official updates anymore as it said it was modified, but that doesn't bug me anymore reading all the complaints about the whole no turning back.
Thanks again!
I'm looking into flashing a custom ROM onto my T999L for the first time as well...have any of you guys taken the plunge yet, and have any feedback on specific ROMS? I think I will try with AOKP
