Eye on the notifications bar - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Whats up with the eye on notification bar? Looks like it has 3 eyebrows. Does it have anything to do with the update justy installed?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium

It's smart stay. And yes, it does. Before, when smart stay was on, nothing would be displayed unless it no longer found a face, now it's always on but lights up when face not found.
I'm looking for the code to remove it. Worst case, I'll blank the icon out. LOL

It kinda freaked me out...like someone's watching me.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium

Just cause the icon is or isn't there doesn't mean someone ISN'T watching you.....

that's because someone IS watching you. tiny ceiling cat inside your phone is watching you and notices if you are using your phone they won't power off the screen.

Cool Brightness Shortcut

So I was just messing around with my phone and I found this cool way to change your brightness settings without having to go into settings. So besically all you have to do is slide across the top bar of the phone (where the time, battery, and data signal notifiers are). But do not pull down the notification bar just slide across the bar sliding to the right turns up the brightness sliding it left turns down the brightness. It works on GB and ICS. I dont know if this is a known feature or if samsung put it in there or if its just a glitch but i just wanted to share it.

Lmao.. this is where CM7 got the idea from. Aswell as having toggles in the notification bar, also borrowed from Twiz.
I am not flaming, but do non of toy even look at your operation manual?
First the screen shot key combo and now this. I guess cracking the manual open for five minutes does have its purpose.

[TIPS] Samsung Galaxy S III: 15 Power User Tips

Hello members,
Every once and a while I come across an interesting article that is worth noting such as the article titled "Samsung Galaxy S III: 15 Power User Tips" over at PC World. There were some well not so known tips and great features that were listed in this article that wowed even me about the Samsung Galaxy III. Dont take my word for it, go over there and become informed. If you know of any other tips that were not posted, please do share the wealth.
Some examples are such as :
Save That Screen Retrieved from this article here:
"Take a screenshot. And another. And another. Taking screenshots with the S III is a snap—all you have to do is swipe the screen with your palm. So go ahead, take some more. And some more. And, well, you get the idea.
Other Android phones don't make it quite as easy. If you're using a phone running Android version 4.0 or later, you have to press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons at the same time"
Make the Phone a Flashlight
"Stop digging around your bag in the dark, hunting for your keys.
If you have your S III in hand, you've already got a flashlight. The Assistive Light widget—which you can add to your home screen by going to Apps, selecting the Widgets tab, and choosing Assistive Light—turns the camera's flash into a flashlight when you need it most. Some other Android phones have this widget as well.
Want to add the flashlight feature to your Android phone? Check out Tiny Flashlight + LED, available as a free download in Google Play."
Oh yes, here is a great one that I did not know of......
Wake Up in Style
Let's face it: We all have to get out of bed sometime. And what better way to face your day than to be prepared for all it has to offer.
Using the "Briefing" setting on your Galaxy S III's alarm clock, you can have your phone wake you by reading the time, weather and weather forecast, news headlines, and any appointments you may have lined up. To turn this feature on, go to alarm type in the settings menu and change it to briefing.
Not a Galaxy S III owner? Download WakeVoice from Google Play to get some of these features on your Android phone.
Regards,
A lot of those are pretty obvious now that the phone has been out for a while thanks anyways tho.

[Mod] Increase Max Brightness

WARNING:
Using this mod may decrease battery life, decrease screen life and/or quality, cause overheating, cause your phone to blow up or cause other damage to your phone. Use at your own risk. I am not responsible for any damage this mod causes to your phone.
This Mod will increase the max brightness of your phone by about 10%.
Note:
Auto Brightness must be turned off for this to work.
Root is required for this Mod.
Instructions:
Download and run app attached to this post.
Or. ..
echo 1 > /sys/class/backlight/panel/auto_brightness
If you reboot or enable auto brightness you have to run it again.
The best way to tell if it worked would be to run it when your screen is already at full brightness. You'll see it go a bit brighter.
Tested on T-Mobile Note II, but this may work in many Samsung Galaxy phones.
Been working here for the past few days. ..helps a lot outside. Thanks.

There is a reason its not maxed by default. Just a fair warning about the OLED screen. The original settings (100%) gave Samy a very laege headache. The resulting setting keeps a few nasty side effects at bay. Be prepared for ectra heat, short battery life and some screen fade if not managed properly.......... Just a warning is all *cough cough.

JB FL04 - Notifications

If I have a missed call or sms and hit 'Clear' button on the notification bar I STILL see a small 'circle' overlaying phone icon and/or sms icon respectively and display how many missed calls and/or sms messages I've had. The only way to clear out circle notification overlay is to access the application which to me - does not make any sense. I want my 'Clear' button to clear these out and be done with it! Any suggestions?

Actually, you can never make the notifications go in the iPhone. If you have a missed call, a message, an update, a reminder, anything. You either do what it TELLS you to do, or else, it's gonna bug you forever. Like I said, even a simple app update.
As for your case sir, get another launcher. or disable this feature in whatever launcher you are using. Whether it is Nova, Touchwiz or CM10 and AOKP notification count. Hope this helps.
Still, if you get an iPhone, the people in this forum might get relieved from questions like these in the General section
I noticed this too.. guess Apple patented that?
Searched google, found solution: "Settings" -> "Applications manager" -> Select "All" tab -> Click on "BadgeProvider" -> "Disable". You might have to restart your phone. No more circle notification overlays on phone or sms icons!!!

Iphone trolls lol. Remember last week at work when our android phones was listening to the game? Your apple crap was not and asking for updates? Apple and its inferior stuff should never show up in our forums. This is just an example of daily example where apple phones cant do what we can do! Hint Android out sells apple 3-1
@op, that's pretty cool you found the answer to that issue. It's not really an issue though. The clear button is just clearing the notifications which are in the notification area. I'm not completely sure but I think the badges you're referring to are a touchwiz feature. I don't remember if vanilla launchers had badges in the launcher or not. I think a few years ago, when the evo 4g and similar phones were out, there was the vanilla android launcher in with touchwiz and sense. All you had to do was go into applications then all then look for the launcher and or twlauncher and hit the clear default button and then home then select then choose the plain launcher to have the somewhat pure Android experience. I haven't played around with it in a long time so I don't know if it's still packed in the rom.

Nice rom indeed, a lot of features but it's not like we haven't seen anything like that before. Based on 422, mostly xylon and cm10.1. Two launchers: Apex and Trebuchet.
Apart from the arguing I REALLY liked the ROM but the messaging app was really messing up often repeating the same message somebody had sent me for am hour when they were sat next to me with their phone off. Tried to full wipe it and try again and another SMS app but nothing, any help?

Do you mean the same message shows on the popup or are you actually getting the same message more than once? If your getting it on the pop up every time that person sends you a text then you have to reply from the pop up or using the back button back out of the app completely and dont leave the conversation open you no, don't just press home, back out of it. I no if I reply to a SMS and leave the convo open it will show the same message in the pop up. Hasn't happen to me on this but it has on others I've flashed.
