Never hear of a "cyanogenmod" camera. They use the same camera as stock.
And if there was a cyanogenmod camera it would be built in the CM roms, right?
If you want the 'CM' camera then don't flash the Google one that's in the GAPPs package...

Correct.
OR, you can make a clean install of CM and this gapps (they come WITHOUT the google's camera&gallery apk).
Read somewhere that you can also wipe /system (or even simply erase /system/app/gallery.apk) before flash CM and the above gapps. But i'n not sure if last option is 100% fully functional.

Are you sure the camera is part of the gapps package? I think its part of the ROM since the camera is part of AOSP. That, and I just looked in a gapps package and there is no camera/gallery apk. Are you saying there IS a "CM" camera thats different from the stock camera? If so, I have never heard of it but would like to see what its all about.

Look at /optional/photosphere/<device>/app/
It's a GalleryGoogle.apk there.

Ah, I see. So if there is a completely different "CM" camera app, what is the difference?

Google's camera apk comes with the 'viewsphere' (i think that's the name) option. It's a propietary add-on from Google. In addition, there is the picassa sync option. CM10's camera doesn't includes it.
I stick around the Google's one, so I can't explain what enhacements are in the CM's apk (except the HDR newley included, that i suppose is the OP's main objective)

Ok. I must be using the Google one. I have Picasa sync and no HDR.

Ok I don't know if its just me and when I download the ROMS that have been made compiled for JB but in both I have flashed I still have no camera app. Is it not available yet because they change the camera app or am I blind? I've flashed Team Inferno's ROM and Bixie's ROM.

I think you might be blind... lol jk. But no seriously. I've never not had the camera app in any of the JB roms I've flashed (although I'm CDMA). It's still called "Camera..." Perhaps the gapps weren't packaged correctly with the rom so it doesn't show up? Have you looked in /system/apps to see if Camera.apk is there?

Lol wouldn't put it passed me for being blind x) I did check to see if the apk was in the system, its not. BTW I'm on the GSM GNex. Also used the android APK Swapper to double check and it's not there.

Wow. Very interesting. When I went into /system/app Camera.apk wasn't there, but I had the Camera application... I went to drag the Camera app into "app info" and it comes up with Gallery version 1.1.4000, so obviously the Camera application is grouped or side-loaded with the Gallery application. Perhaps try reinstalling Gallery?
You are correct. Normally I remove the gallery apk from ROMs since I prefer Quickpic. Doing this on a Jelly Bean ROM also removes the camera.

I just checked my gallery apk, and the only one I have is gallerygoogle.apk not gallery m8 and when I try to reinstall it it fails
As said on the title:
flashable .zip with GalleryGoogle.apk and libs from latest CM10.1 nightly which has HDR
it has been tested on GSM runnng Vanir w/ AK pirates kernel, it should work on any CM10.1 based rom.
if it doesn't check your actual Gallery*.apk as it may be named Gallery2.apk or GalleryGoogle.apk
change the name of the file in the zip according to yours.
Make a backup- -2
Delete Gallery2.apk or GalleryGoogle.apk from /system/apps/ (to avoid duplicated apks)- -1
Flash in recovery-1
Wipe Cache and Dalvik-2
Boot (or leave it off if you want, last step is optional for those who want to use the phone) (YES, i'm hilarious)-3
Test at your own risk.
This is my first post in the forum, i'm glad to serve.
Greetings from Argentina!
ZIP DOWN ATM, I'LL UPLOAD A NEW ONE WHEN I SOLVE ISSUES.
Just posting others work, Thank and Donate to CM.
Flashing went fine on bigxie's 4.2.2 w/ leankernel 6.0. Camera and gallery are working flawlessly but I can't tell if HDR is enabled as it's dark hence I can't take the classic pic of a window from inside. First thing in the morning. Thanks a lot in advance for the effort!

no, i'm trying to make'em play along, but you can't have both yet...
EDIT: it seems that photosphere requires a restricted lib which I can't port... it's one or another.

Can you post your modified HDR one, and also the photosphere one, so we can go back to it if we ever need to?
Anything new?
is it working on AOKP 4.2.2 build 4?
might be a noob question but how do I tell if HDR is enabled? Is there an option to click or is it HDR only?

If I remember correctly, it is a setting. Hold your finger down in the camera. I'm pretty sure it's the direct top option.

Hi, all. So, I was wondering if there are any fixes for the front facing camera bug for third party apps when using AOSP ROMs. When I use front facing camera in third party apps, causes force reboot. I hear this is a common thing with AOSP ROMs, and there has got to be another thread on this (which I've yet to find that offers any real answers). Not sure if this problem affects Hangouts yet, but I'm pretty sure it would have the same problem.
Do a google search for note 2 camera4.3 apk. you'll have to uninstall your existing gallery and then flash the apk file . then reboot into recovery and fix permissions. I use this on my d2att and camera works great.. focal and photosphere.
Thanks!

Thanks for the advice! I'll give that a try. I couldn't figure out how to fix permissions in CWM, though. I thought it was supposed to in "Advanced", but I couldn't find it.

been a while since i used cwm, I'm using twrp. The option to fix permissions is in advanced with twrp. I googled it for cwm and most say the option has been removed and some say not to use it in cwm.

OK. Apparently, the only way to fix permissions for CWM is in the ROM manager app, which I already have. This lets you pick and choose which apps you want to fix permissions for. I'll look into it further and give it a try. If I have to use TWRP, then so be it. Just not really familiar with it. Thanks for all the help, though. I'll post if it works.
Installed, but same problem.
So... first I'd like to say Photosphere is AWESOME! However, I still have the same problem with the front facing camera. If it works at all, it FC when picture is snapped. I think I need to figure out how to set the flashed camera a default or something. I don't know.

Yeah... I understand this is a pretty common problem with CM 10 and AOSP roms. I gotta wonder if there is a solid solution to this or if I just did something wrong. I replaced the stock camera/gallery with the Note 2 camera 4.3, but it still does the same thing. Tried wiping dalvik cache and fix permissions, but nothing seems to have worked. Now running Dandroid cyangenwiz ROM and that works fine, it just isn't smooth and nice like AOSP. Love some of the features, but miss the buttery smoothness of CM 10.2. You said that you haven't had any problems with front facing camera?

LOL , I never use it... but yeah... I tried it after you posted fc... .Try to download slim rom and take the gallery apk from there and drop into your rom. front camera works, but I don't think you'll have photospere.

Yeah, I'm not real concerned about the front facing camera, except when it comes to hangouts and skype. Haven't had the chance to really test it.
Hi, I recently flashed cm11 and the according gapps package (4.4.2). And I realized I am missing the photosphere, while it is not extremely important, id still love to have the function enabled, even though i am most likely going to use my cellphone instead.
Anyone know if theres a flashable package somewhere? I tried to search, they are all for nexus 5.
bumpity bump
The only way you are going to get something like Photosphere is to install Focal from the Play Store. Focal used to be baked into CM but the Dev went his own way.

As long as you are using cm11 or any aosp 4.4.2 it'll work
If you're on a custom ROM that didn't come with Google Camera, then you can use this one.
Just download the GoogleCamera.zip.
Unzip it.
Then copy the entire Google Camera folder to /system/priv-app.
Then change permissions of the folder to match other folders.
Then change permissions of the apk inside to match other apks.
Then reboot and profit.
Download pulled from January 2017's "V" stock firmware:

If on Chrome on a Windows PC, then click the grey colored "download this file" button.
Then enter the text code to download.
I have an add blocker so my webpage view may be slightly different from yours.
If on your phone, then I'm not sure.

Thanks I had to move back to pure nexus, my cell signal kept being lost and had to reboot to get it back. I tried several kernels including stock and was unable to resolve.
Is this work for moto G2 titan ..I have already installed gcam but it doesn't have HRD and HRD+ features so I was thinking do what you had said now ....do I have to uninstall the old one[/FONT]
It's on the store but for some reason isn't searchable. I saved the link to Google keep so I can access it whenever I need to: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.GoogleCamera
