Hey everybody, I just have a question about the boot-loader, can I flash firmwares that's in a ftf or using update service when I have a Xperia S with locked bootloader using the Sony method? Or do they just talk about when you update your phone using the update app on your phone? I'm just curious because I don't want to brick my new phone.
Yes
Ok any links on how I do this?

Is it so hard to type on google or youtube "How to flach a stock firmware with locked Bl?"
I bet you will find a answer to your question.
Anyway.. You can use flashtool to to flach a stock rom.. just download the latest .ftf file and install it on your phone using flashtool..
need tutorial? just watch at youtube.. its easy
Both of you need to stop, XDA is place where people help each other. If you do not know the answer or have no intention to contribute then stop posting irrelevant comments and bump up the thread.
Yes you posted in the right section. Thanks for that. :good:
And if any user or post offended you then rather posting back, you straight report to the Moderator. That is much helpful. This is the icon for the Report option, at the top right corner of each post.

And now to answer your questions-
Yes you can certainly flash any Stock ROM in your device, bootloader unlocking is not required for that. Bootloader unlocking is required if you only need to use custom ROM or custom kernel.
This is how to flash. Follow the steps. It's given with the screenshots
http://communities-origin.sonyericsson.com/message/398851
And finally you can search more, cause every new questions are being already answered somewhere in this forum of Xperia S.
Still to ease your trouble, I am sharing this thread-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1876890
Ask anything there, it's greatly helpful.
Good luck.
It's just easy you need only flashtool and ftf file which holds your firmware:laugh:

hi XDA,
i Am using sonyericsson xperia pro (mk16i) i want to root it,
someone pls tell me will i get offcial ICS update using Sony PC Companion after getting rooted.
Root only? Yes
if you only root your phone, without unlock your bootloader, you can use pcc or update service to repair/update fw.
Ya sure. BTW anyone knows when ICS update is rolling out for pro.

Yea you can't root build .62 using the zergrush or super click method. To do that you need to downgrade to. 42 or unlock your bootloader.

put the ROM on your SD card if you didn't do it before ..
Did you flash new boot.img of the ROM you're about to flash ??
after these , install zip from SD card
So now he has managed to install recovery. You now need to flash the boot.img from the rom you wish to use via fastboot as well as the rom.zip file via recovery. As mentioned above, follow all steps in the guide.
PS! You can expect some flaming as you should post these types of questions in the Q&A section
Thanks and I apologize for posting in the wrong section. Is there anyway I can move or delete it.
I actually realized my mistake and posted in the Q&A already. But cant seem to figure how to delete this three
I apologize again

So did you end up flashing a ROM or do you still only have a recovery? Use twrp if you can't get cmw to mount

Thanks all
So I updated my stock Acro S to Jellybean a couple weeks ago and have a few problems. Basically, everything is slow, it only uses the stock dialer to make and receive calls, sometimes apps hang when opening and wifi may be disconnecting more often.
Years ago I was unlocking my windows mobile phones and flashing ROMs so I have a rough idea of the process. But so many years have gone by and I just don't have the time to get into all of that again. Therefore I am looking for someone to do the following:
Recommend a stable, good ROM that I am not going to have to update i a months time.
Give me the links I need for all files that will be needed in the process.
Give me step by step instructions including what I need to backup.
And if I need support (I am quite technically capable and shouldn't need any) answer some questions.
In return for this I will paypal you $50.
PM me if interested.
Well use the latest ICS rom first, because it is the most stable with Sony features...you should probably found the ftf file in here...do some search...look for the ftf file of your phone with the build number in ny screenshot
And then, backup your file or any necessary thing using Sony backup and restore application...or titanium backip if you have any
Then flash the ftf file using flashtool (make sure you install driver for your phone),connect yout phone in flashmode and flash the file
And no need to pay me,I only help my fellow ion brothers aka Acro S and S and SL :3

Hi,
I appreciate the help you are offering, and I don't mean to belittle it in anyway. But...I'm super busy these days and just have too much going on to look for flash tools and various files. That is why I offered the money. I know I could figure this all out if I sat down and did the research, I just don't have the time.
The thing is, I need it all laid out and simple.
I thank you again for taking the time to help me for free.
For anyone else still interested, the offer stands.
Have you tried custom ROMs. I'm currently using Trinity ROM and its very smooth less bloatware and it's optional if you want to update it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2318292
Backup your apps and data, using titanium backup(playstore).
Wipe data, Flash the zip via recovery.
Restore.
Done.
with all the terms you laid out bro, i think you need someone that's physically there holding your phone or at least someone that you can leave your phone to for say about 2 hours just so they can do all the tweaks needed for your phone to be stable
guys please help. i rooted my phone using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181103 then installed rom manager from google play store and installed CWM then when i tried to boot into recovery a bunch of errors came like gapps has stopped and all, then it proceeded to reboot. however when powering on, i was met with this error
Secure booting Error!
Cause: boot certification verify
im getting this error always now and cant use my phone. pls advise on what to do. simple procedures will help alot. TIA

thank you. now the 2nd question is how to prevent this error. unsecure bootloader?
I don't have the answer to your 2nd query. I haven't yet attempted to root my phone.
I can only suggest to try again after unbricking, or use a different rooting method...
I'll leave this question to more experienced people here.

I already posted an inquiry to another thread. hopefully there is a simple way to load an unsecure bootloader, or a simple guide.

Have you unlocked the bootloader after rooting?i know, stupid question from me,but i have to be sure. Of course you unlocked the bootloader, because otherwise root is pretty useless, since you can't flash cwm and uninstall some system apps without having those issues you mentioned.
