Why do I get this when I connect my phone to my ps3?

Really? Obviously the ps3 can't load drivers to see the n2 and it cannot be mounted as mass storage if you want media off it use dlna like everyone else till Samsung let's us mount as a USB drive

Newer Samsung phones uses MTP (media transfer protocol) as oppose to the traditional UMS (universal mas storage) to transfer data. Think of UMS as usb hard drives and flash drives. MTP is incompatible most any usb but computers.

It is still compatible with the PS3. However you can only use PS3 to pull/browse/play media from Samsung. You cannot use the Samsung to push/send the media files to the PS3.

I saw online that you can buy an otg adapter to connect a USB flash drive, keyboard , and even an Xbox controller
I bought an adapter for it for like 10 bucks

I didn't know about USB OTG, I was under the impression that simply connecting a mouse, keyboard, etc. from USB A to USB B micro wouldn't work but these seem to be different. Is that right? If so I'll totally buy one. Seems worth it at times to be able to connect a keyboard and/or mouse. I use bluetooth for my PS3 controller right now but this could be beneficial in other ways.

Is there an adapter to have split usb ports? I need to use 2 ports at the same time, or would the function not even work then.

Too bad they don't have the Gameklip for our t989 yet, but all you need to do is go on their facebook page and post a request for it on our phone and "like" all of the other posts requesting the same thing for our t989. When there's enough demand, they'll add our phone to the list. Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/GameKlip

The Skyrocket has a gameklip and it's only 1mm taller and wider, so I ordered one and I will try to remember to comment here again once I have it and can see if it works.
Just hold out a little longer guys. This fall, there will be no less than 5 manufacturers that'll be releasing bluetooth controllers for our phones/tablets.
Just do a Google search for:
PowerA SDK
Nyko NVIDIA Playpad
SteelSeries Ion
I just purchased for my S3 the OTG cable in the amazon store labeled: "SANOXY Micro USB Host Mode OTG Cable Flash Drive SD T-Flash Card Adapter FOR Samsung GT-i9100 i9100 Galaxy S II 2 GT-N7000 Galaxy Note" (sorry new users can't post links)
I got it so I could hook up my PS3 controller to play emulator games (via John NES lite and GENPlusDroid) on my unrooted verizon S3. If I purchase a usb splitter, would I be able to use two controllers for two player games?

You should be able too I also just purchased 3 of them. But I think you have to be rooted for the cable to work anyways. Also downloads stick mount by chainfire for free from the play store. It will help when using the cable for mass storage devices.

The s3 already supports flash drives without stickmount or root. As for the two ps3 remotes, I have tried to do this but they both register the buttons for one controller. This might be written into ICS unless you buy the yoypad I think. I tried the otg to a USB hub with two controllers with no luck, also two controllers with sixaxis app no luck, also one with six axis app and one with USB otg and still both register for one controller. The USB hub did support keyboard and mouse at the same time though so its got to be the way ICS is programmed for only one game controller.

Verizon phones can't be easily rooted, so that guide doesn't help.
I am having this problem I can mount everything from my mouse to my usb. I bought an sd card adapter and put my sd card in the adapter, but didn't work. I know the adapter is not broken because I have tried it on my computer and it worked just fine

That's strange.. it most likely is ntfs formatted though. I'd try USB otg manager from the market. Your USB port isn't damaged at all is it?

It's not damaged at all. The weird thing my observations are that there is not enought power getting to the adaptor. When I plug the adaptor in my friends Galaxy nexus running on stock rom the light on the adaptor lights up just fine, but mine just blinks for like a fraction of a second and doesn't connect. I'm also thinking it's the rom or it needs a new kernal ???
You need to check whether the kernel you're on supports otg.

Weird.. I've only seen power with hard drives that use the USB power. Can you post the exact make model of the adapter? Also, do you have a powered USB hub you could try? As in connect hub to phone, plug adapter into hub. That way the adapter most certainly is getting the power needed.
It also might be ROM kernel related.

I have tried everything... Changed the kernal. I literally tried every single kernal. I changed the rom, from jedi mind trick to cm9 stable to koodo. I might just buy a newer one. I tired the usb hub and still not connecting. Thanks for everything btw. I am still looking into this because it's something that I think that needs to be done. Still boggles my mind that it works on the Galaxy Nexus but not that S2

While I haven't encountered any issues with sd adapters on the t989, it sounds like you're having either a power problem or that particular adapter isn't playing nice with your kit. You can rule out power by plugging you usb otg to a powered hub and testing with a high powered device (usb drive for example) and should that work, then trying the adapter. If the adapter works off the hub, it's likely a power problem. If not, the adapter hates you and loathes samsung, and wants you to by a nexus.
While not common, the adapter could be asking for a full 500ma even though it doesn't require it or is having some other isb negotiations headbutt with your gs2.
you can also try popping open a console terminal and checking what's happening under the hood. you should be able to see in the output of dmesg when you connect the adapter and what the kernel is saying about it, which will help point you in the right direction.

Anyone know if this will work out of the box with the GN? If not would it just require new software or is it hardware incompatible?

If you mean a basic micro USB dock (like the one here) there's no reason it wouldn't work.

Specifically I mean this one. I like the USB connections and HDMI out. I know that the GN supports MHL and USB host, I just don't know if it all works at once.
