htc desire hd qhsusb-dload-mode solution - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have a desire hd tried to update from 2.3.5 to jelly bean,when put to hboot it didnt and for 2nd try when i inserted batery again it didnt powerd on.when i conected the fone with pc it conected just in QSHUSB-DLOAD-mode and wants the driver for it.can any one give me some hints to fix it.

What did you do to it? Did you use AAHK? If so what did it say? What version of Android did it ship with?

Then how did you try to update to jellybean without AAHK? Did you try to unlock your bootloader?

yes dear for unlock boot loader wen i pulledup batery and reinsert to put fone in hboot,it didnt powerd on and conect just in above mantiond state.

So you never actually got to flashing JellyTime? What exactly happened during and after the unlock? What exactly did you do?

dear i already said that i did nothing for unlock bootloader becaz when the fone came to me for updating i chked its fastboot info,on the next day wen i tried to put fone in hboot it didnt powerd on.

Honestly I'm having a really hard time understanding what you're saying. You said you tried to "update" to Jellybean (I assumed by flashing a custom ROM) without stating the root method. Then you said the root method was HTCDEV bootloader unlock, not AAHK. Then you said you didn't unlock, you merely pulled the battery when hboot didn't work. You checked "fastboot", it worked, and after an evening it refused to boot into hboot? And you did nothing else? By fastboot do you mean hboot (where all that S-On info you posted earlier is)? Or do you mean a recovery? And now it won't boot into hboot? Or it won't boot into the recovery? Or it won't boot into the ROM?
Please give a description of what state the phone was in originally. Then please give a step by step description of exactly what you did in chronological order. Then describe its current state. Otherwise I'm quite confused as to what you have done.

sorry for my bad english,
customer came to me for updating the fone,i chked the fone,it have 2.3.5 android,and the costmer wanted jellybean on it.next i chked the further info
1- by puting fone in hboot mode and get the above info which i mantioned.nothing did with fone.
2-on next day when i was going to unlock the bootloader and tried to put fone in hboot it didnt powerd on and just conected in that DLOAD mode.
thats all.is it clear.

Wait. Customer...? You're getting paid for this? If so, what was your plan for support after you rooted the phone and flashed a (free) custom ROM on it and got paid? A custom ROM will never be as stable as stock. Are you planning on having your noob customer, who has no idea of the rooting process or anything else because you did it for him, throw himself on the mercy of the volunteers here at XDA for help when his newly Jellybean-ed phone goes wrong?
If not, does hboot come on eventually if you wait, say, 30 minutes?

[Q] Big problem with htc...

I rooted my phone 6 months ago and 1 month ago it started restarting out of a sudden. Another problem was that it did not turn on the first time, so i had to get the battery out and try again to turn on the phone. When i saw that i decided to upgrade with the official Gingerbread Rom for the Desire. Now the problems started getting more and more serious. My phone remains stuck in the htc logo screen...it does not go into recovery and when i tried installing the initial ruu, to try to take it back to warranty it said that the bootloader version is not good. Any ideas how to solve this problem? I would really appreciate some help...
Maybe providing some info, like bootloader information, phone information....
Current Hboot is 1.02.0001, radio 5.17.05.23 and i wish to install RUU_Bravo_Froy2_UK_2.14.207.1_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_144166_signed. I have tried to install the ROM by puting the rom file from the ruu on the memory card and renaming it as PB99IMG.zip. Once i turn on the phone in hboot, it loads the image and after 3 minutes is says "Main Version is older! Update Fail!". I have also tried to install the ruu by connecting it to the computer and booting the phone in fastboot. It said the current image version is 3.14.405.1 and the version I will install will be 2.14.207.1. After about 5 minutes in the install process it gets stuck in "Updating Signature" and after that the process stops and the following message is shown:
"ERROR[140]:BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR
The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone.
Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again."
I am currently quite desperate..
Your HBOOT is newer than the one you want to flash.
You nned to downgrade it, which means you have to S-Off your device with revolutionary.io AFAIK.
Then flash one of the HBOOTs from alpharev.nl (downgrader) - then you can flash the RUU.

Can you please tell me how to s-off the phone if the phone cannot start?i tried in fastboot but the software on the computer didn't detect the phone...
You need to be running fastboot in the CMD.exe...
You need to follow the guide for ADB first, then you can use fastboot to flash a new image!

How can I enable USB debugging if my phone gets stuck at the HTC logo? sorry for being such a pain guys but i am not very experienced in this stuff..
Did you manage to solve it ? I have the same problem , stuck with the boot loop issue after flashing Official RUU 2.3 upgrade. Only have access to fastboot, can't use adb to downgrade.

Yes, I had s-off with alpharev. The problem started with boot loop on alpharev screen. I flashed amoled RUU by mistake and had slcd brick.
Now I have installed the correct RUU but still either get stuck on boot loop or on HTC screen. Wonder if the system partitions are screwed up or if they can be restored without adb or s-off.
i did not manage to do anything. all i want to do is to put back the initial ruu so i can take the phone back to warranty. But i don't know how to downgrade hboot.
can anyone please tell me how can i downgrade my hboot? The biggest problem is that i cannot enable usb debugging because my phone is stuck with the bootloop.

Boot into Fastboot and then run RUU. Setup should see it.
I managed to reinstall the official Android 2.3 RUU but the problem is that i want to install the RUU_Bravo_Froy2_UK_2.14.207.1_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_144166_signed RUU. From what i have been told, i firstly have to downgrade hboot. Can anyone give me some detailed steps of how to do this?
If I were you, I'd S-OFF with revolutionary, flash recovery and flash a ROM.. when you're S-OFF, there is a way to downgrade... I just haven't got time to search now sorry
That's from my understanding that you re-did the 2.3 RUU and your phone now works.. right?
Unfortunately the phone doesn't start now either
but did it work before? have you tried leaving it for about half an hour and tried turning it on again? (I've seen faults like that). If not try the RUU again, then S-OFF - which makes life SOOOOOOO much easier

[Q] DHD unroot attempt failed

I searched this forum to get me into rooting, then running for 2 weeks Blackout 4.0.4.
Since I couldn't use Skype, and people did not understand me (voice meteallic), decided to switch back.
Loaded WWE RUU, did not worked, device urecognised...
Used Clockwork o load the backed up system.
One I had saved was 2.1, the one I needed to revert back to to be able to s-off or sthg.
Then I was able to run those RUU...
RUU finalised but with errors, red triangle, again reverted to 2.1
another RUU... apparently 2.3.5 went ok. boot. and...
I CANNOT USE TOUCHSCREEN ANYMORE
sorry, im close to tears.
I can boot to HBOOT 2.00.0027
System boot to this Sense3.0 Andro 2.3.5
but I cannot swing unlock ring.
please help.
What to load up now to make my touch screen work again?
It was old phone no guaranty.

If you're still S-OFF, I believe you just need to flash a custom recovery and then flash a stock ROM. You didn't need to unroot to go back to the stock ROM. Instructions on how to flash a custom recovery are in the "need help" link in my signature. Look in the PDF linked from post #7 there.

No, flash a custom recovery. Instructions for that start at the bottom of page 9 of the guide. Then download the stock 2.3.5 rooted and flash it normally from recovery.
RUUs are all stock. Digitizer is hardware. Don't worry about the drivers.

You don't need ADB to run a RUU, I believe.

Tom, are you able to enter hboot? Then choose fastboot and plug the phone. From there You can flash a RUU in CMD. In the guide in My signature (the same that bananagranola sent You) explains how to do that. If You Need further help just let me know....:fingers-crossed:

Fastboot is not the same as ADB. Instructions for flashing something with Fastboot are very clearly documented in the PDF that glevitan and I both told you to read. Unfortunately, I believe you lost S-OFF when you ran that RUU (since your HBOOT version changed), which means you lost Fastboot ability. You're now beyond my understanding; you're going to need to wait for glevitan to show up with his wisdom and hope that he can help you.

Actually attn1 (creator of the advanced ace hack lit) told me that changing HBOOT won't affect your radio partition as it's located somewhere else. So he should still be S-OFF if he had it.

Help in solving bootloader issue

Please I have a peculiar problem, I pray you can assist me. I tried to root my telus dhd using advanced hack kit, after running the hack kit the phone failed to reboot. It stock at a blank bLack screen. To solve that, I mistakenly flash a froyo pd98img on a GB ROM. Since then, the phone takes about 20 to 30 minutes to boot. It will start with a splash screen and vibrate for about 10 minutes then takes another 10 minutes to boot. The problem is I can't enter boot loader and I can't use the hack kit again to return to stock since the phone won't reboot in the process.
I will appreciate any help. Thanks for your time.
And why exactly can't you enter the bootloader? Remove and re-insert your battery, Press Vol Down and Power button to boot into the bootloader.

Sounds like a messed bootloader. Go to the Ace Think Tank thread linked in my signature. Find the PDF in post #7. In that, read about the messed bootloader fix.

volume down and power button doesn't work, the phone won't boot that way. I don't think its s-off

Yes, it's messed up bootloader. Yesterday on #ahksupport, @attn1 gave an adb command, which after typing it, The phone booted to a black screen with HTC on it. Then he gave me a link to a file which he ask me to paste in cmd window. But unfortunately he changed his mind due my inability to respond swiftly to his question.
I have found the PDF, will give it a try. Thanks
Update: This is the file uploaded to by @attn1 yesterday. I believe it's an extracted and unlocked bootloader. The only problem is that I don't know how to flash it. If anyone can assist me.

I have the same problem... if u can enter in boot menu ur are saved... u need to instal GB rom back on your phone, you have link here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1335027 if I'm right your RUU is smoething .707.4..download that, connect your dhd on usb and run that program..it will instal your old rom. when u do that fin AHK that is updated one month ago and run it. that helped me. I have the same problem... if u can enter in boot menu ur are saved... u need to instal GB rom back on your phone, you have link here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1335027 if I'm right your RUU is smoething .707.4..download that, connect your dhd on usb and run that program..it will instal your old rom. when u do that fin AHK that is updated one month ago and run it. that helped me. Is yours Telus too? I downloaded an RUU intending to flash it using windows, the computer detects the phone but I was afraid. I read in some forums that flashing the RUU in this situation can lead to brick! Pls advise me. Thanks for the reply

Just make sure you read properly how to do it before proceeding. Read the guide bananagranola gave you and follow the instructions. We can help with almost anything but conquering your fear. Unless you want glevitan to connect to your computer via teamviewer and have him press 'next'.

Ok, this is what you have to do. I sent you the pastebin link in the IRC channel yesterday but afterwards attn1 told me that that solution would not work in your case. You need to flash that HBOOT in this way:

I sent the code, the phone rebooted to a black HTC screen, and has been on it for almost an hour now? Is it normal? Tanks for the help, it's appreciated.
It shows white screen now with the following information:

im not sure, i know that it was asian and 707.4... usualy u can't do nothing with usb because u can't turn on debbuging on your phone, with that RUU asian 707.4 u can instal rom without debbuging.. i'm not sure but if u can access hboot your dhd is not bricked and there is hope to install rom on it.. i was spent 6h reading forums to find solution for my problem

that is normal as you don´t have a RUU in your phone. Does it still take long time to boot in hboot? from there you should be able to flash a RUU as that hboot supports multiple CIDs
I don't think it worked as he is still showing the .007 boot which is froyo.
Question why wouldn't your guide work in this case? Is it because of it being the nam version(pd12000 vs pd10000)? Hboot versions not interchangeable?or something else that as mentioned in the irc

to be strictly plain I am not quite sure..but Attn1 told me that the fix in the guide will only work with just one RUU build 1.32.xxx can't remember now. So he has to flash a new hboot that will allow multiple CIDs...

Can I go ahead and flash an RUU now? If yes, can I flash any gb ruu or it has to be telus?
How do I flash it? Am I going to extract the image and place it on sd card or run the. exe file from computer.

Just one question...when you flashed the hboot did you get the OKAY.finished in the command prompt? Your is still at slow motion for booting??
If the answers to the question are: Yes. No...then you can flash an unbranded RUU and it should work. :good:

No, I didn't get OKAY in the command, It didn't show finished. The phone screen just showed black with HTC written on it for almost two hours. Then eventually it rebooted to white screen withe info I posted above. Yes it's still at the motion boot.

Then I don´t think you have flashed the hboot....the process will take 2 or 3 hours I guess. You need to get OKAY. Finished near the end to know that you have achived the goal.
If you want I can lend you a hand via teamviewer (http://www.teamviewer.com/) but you have to put the phone in fastboot usb first. When you are there just send me the ID and PASS over a Private Message (PM)...

today I bought a DHD. ITs my first
Using AAHK I tryed to root it and something went wrong and now my phone is stuck at the loading screen. How can I atleast get to the starting point where my phone was working. Im so frustrated now . If you could help me I would be very thankful!!!

Your problem Is lack of reading. The effen manual Tells You To re run the hack kit from the white screen....have You already done that?

Yes. My phone is now white scrn. Pluged to pc. When I run the hack kit it says: Error phone not pluged in, drivers not instaled or debuging is not on.
Only time I can accses the hack tool is if i put the phone into recovery and screen goes black with phone icon and red triangle.. But when I try to rerun flashing it shows the same that the device is offline. Basicaly I cant do anything because the device is offline as the tool says

That is because you factory reseted the phone, thing that you are also warned not to do in the manual, so now you have deleted the usb debugging drivers from the phone. What does hboot say at the top left corner?

not sure...it depends. If the Hack Kit lowered the main version and created the goldcard successfully, you might be able, if not you need your official RUU.
Do the following, get the getvar information from your phone and paste it here (delete the serial and imei numbers). Do you know how to do it?

Yes the hack kit lowered the version by downloading RUU and it did downgrade it sucesfully.. Booted and was working flawlesly. I have the file now, its: PD98IMG-GB2. So I wonder maybe this image would work and boot up the phone at least so I can use it ..
No im not familiar with getvar information.

ok, that is good. Sounds like there will no problem flashing that RUU. Maybe you have a bad sdcard, but RUU's can be flashed in fastboot. Do you mind if I have a look at it over teamviewer?? easy to do it than to explain it...lol

I called everyone I know. Lol even my cousin is coming to me now.. the plan is: using its adapter ill put the image in the sd root ant try it via recovery. Should I rename the image to update.zip? If I fail, ill install teamviewer and you could look over it. But honestly I hope ill succeed. The better thing would be if you would root my phone via teamviewer. Cuz thats where all hard stuff comes..
p.s. I fully understand you.. explaining sometimes is way more complicated than just doing it :laugh:

Hello I have problem with rooting my phone too, It stuck in white screen witj green HTC sign... my phone was OrangeUK branded, so I need original OrangeUK firmware I think... but my friend told me, that if I find OrangeUK branded phone backup, I could recover my phone with it... is it true? adn if it is, could someone make backup for me please...

What you need is to read the EFFEN MANUAL...that is covered in the troubleshooting section. Re run the Hack Kit from the splash screen (white one with green HTC)...that should fix it.

[Q] HTC Desire HD won't boot

Hi all,
I just joined this website. I got a HTC Desire HD, with Cyanogemod from this website cyanogenmod.org
Since yesterday its stuck in boot screen. The cyanogenmod booting animation keeps going forever. I got into the recovery mode once, and somewhere on another forum someone wrote that I had to click Fastboot. But now I cant get into recovery mode anymore, and my phone wont boot too.
What can I do to make my phone work again?
All help is highly appreciated!
Please provide what steps you followed before current state of phone, are you s-on or s-off, bootloader unlocked or not etc. So that it will be easy to understand the state of ur phone and helo

I really appreciate your post(and it was really fast too). It was a long time ago that I put Cyanogenmod on my phone, and I used some tutorial to do it. I think this was the tutorial that I used. Are you S-OFF or have an unlocked bootloader? if you don't know that then I suggest you do some reading first. There is a guide in my signature where you will find all that stuff.
Check the hboot and see what it says...it is not the same installation for S-OFF than being unlocked

I already told you what to do. A good piece of advice is to avoid messing around your device if you don't get what you are doing....when you are online let me know and we can arrange so I can connect to your PC via teamviewer to have a look at it.

Hiho , i have a problem that my DHD wont start anymore after installing the newest update of the Jelly Time ROM.
USB Debugging is off and i cant turn it on and fastboot was allready on before i flashed it.
If i connect the device to my PC the CWM starts but i cant select wipe/factory reset by pushing the power button because the device will boot then.

allready fixed it, my VOLUM - button is little bit buggy i had to press it harder to enter the ACE hack kit
