This is Damn Frustrating ... CAN'T UPDATE VIA PC COMP/ SEUS - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

I don't understand what is wrong. First of all I don't seem to understand actually what model I brought?! I am damn sure i brought a Xperia SL. But there is no specific forum for SL in XDA. When i browsed around, i found out The Xperia S has model number as LT26 and has two models LT26i and LT26a, and mine is LT26i ! But in settings it shows MODEL Number as LT26ii (double i ??? )
So can someone tell me what Sony product I have actually brought?
then, when i connect to PC Companion, it says a new update available - 6.1.A.2.55 [Mine is 6.1.A.2.45].
And when I do all the process as stated by it says
"UNABLE TO DOWNLOAD YOUR PHONE SOFTWARE. PLEASE CHECK YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION AND TRY AGAIN"
Even though my internet connection is perfectly working.
Then I tried to update using SEUS.. I followed all steps .. Switch off phone, wait 30 secs, hold back button and connect usb, after everything it displays "THE PRODUCT COULD NOT BE IDENTIFIED".. what the hell ?!
I have attached images of both the errors in the attachments. Please help me out.

LT26ii is an SL
Its effectively the same software etc as an S just yours runs @ 1.7ghz
Not sure why pc companion etc won't work. We use flashtool on here. But you'd have to see if they're are ftf files available for the firmware update you want
Sent from my Android 4.2.1 Xperia S

Have you ever unlocked your bootloadet, rooted or flashed your phone with Flashtool?

Nopes. Its good as new.:good:

Ftf files we use for Flashtool (firmware flasher for Sony Devices) if u r unable to update via Pcc or Update Service u should use it. And your problem about internet connection error is common for updating sony. Its from sony server to reduce overload you can try again after day or two it will start work. Had the same problem wen I was updating to 4.0.4 from GB.
Stock firmware search here

EDIT: As I posted this, my PC Companion got updated to v2.01.173. Not a major change! Bug fixed??

Na, seems fake as no change in the built number or other stuff.
...not fake I'm still not completely sure as to how it was updated to 2.3.3. When i got the phone from rogers it was at 2.3.2 all i remember doing is plugging it into PC companion and then bam update.
Maybe its region specific?

or you've installed the google video chat from MoDaCo? it spoofs the version to 2.3.3 so you can use the app.

One thing has diffinitly changes it the PC companion desktop shortcut icon from a phone with lots of hardware keys to a full touch screen phone.
I tried to repair and see if a unlocked bootloader is allowed to repair with this version and it still says I have modified software installed.
Just thought I would share.

Just updated PC Companion and plugged my Arc in. I also checked for system updates. Still on Android 2.3.2.
I cant imagine that PC companion will be a sign of a firmware update, its more for connecting your phone and syncing it than anything else. Its SEUS that deals with the updates

arc dont open after update

Ups....messed up users.
But if bootloader is OPEN/UNLOCKED. Then use flashtool in development section..
This will do this job fine.
If bootloader is LOCKED/CLOSED, then use official update method..if 1st flash unsucsess...then reflash agent.
Error you getting if drivers or Java is not correctly installed.

Hello i think you need 4 this >>> <toto> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1126358

[repair][arc/arc s]unbrick and restore to stock

If you messed up your ROM by installing wrong kernel, not wiping data, doing stuff in the wrong order etc, and your ROM doesn't start and you don't know how to fix it...
Follow these instructions to return to:
1. Stock Gingerbread
2. Stock ICS
3. Stock ICS + root
1. Choose appropriate FTF file and download:
ONLY LT15i
.62 firmware: http://uploaded.to/file/lpdhtmqi/LT15i_4.0.2.A.0.62_Generic Global World.ftf
.42 firmware: http://uploaded.to/file/vmfu4czg
ONLY LT15a
.62 firmware: http://uploaded.to/file/f58llc72
ONLY LT18i
.62 firmware: http://uploaded.to/file/gsfx4w60
2. Download and install flashtool https://github.com/Androxyde/Flashtool/zipball/master
3. In settings on phone, allow unknown sources, turn on usb debugging. (if you can't start your phone, ignore.)
4. Turn off phone.
5. Connect usb cable to phone, hold back key while plugging the USB to the pc. LED is now GREEN
6. Open flashtool, drag the downloaded FTF file to the flashtool window. Press ok.
7. You may need to reconnect the phone the same way as before.
8. The stock GB is now flashing. Gingerbread 2.3.4 INSTALLED
From here the phone is fixed and you can do whatever you want.
ICS:
9. Connect the phone to the computer and install ics 4.0.3 via pc companion/sony update service.
ROOT:
10. Download rootkit: http://bit.ly/ert_xperia_2011_ics_1
11. Extract files anywhere.
12. Again make sure unknown sources are allowed, turn on usb debugging.
13. Run runme.bat
Phone is now rooted.
I can not guarantee that this will work for you/your device however I am quite confident that if you follow the instructions carefully you will succeed.
Please press THANKS if I helped.

This can be helpful for anyone whose ROM isn't working. It is directed to noobs who accidentally ruins their custom ROM so they can start over. Also the reason why I'm doing this is because I searched the forums and I could not find a guide that was simple for noobs to understand, which would always work no matter what you did wrong. I've used this method so many times and it has saved me countless times. I thought the least I could do was to share.
I hope I answered your questions.
Why why why do People use uploaded.to links, and feel the need to rehost files to it. Just link directly to the flashtool and use mediafire for anything else.

I understand this reply is far too late but for people in the future:
You cannot upgrade to ICS when your bootloader is unlocked. You can easily lock it again using this small FTF file. When the upgrade with PC companion is complete, you can continiue modifying your phone with custom ROMs etc.

It is very hard for me to know what is causing this problem. Some minor modifications to the flashing procedure can potentially fix it. Try doing it like this: Open FlashTool, drag the FTF-file and drop it in the dialog box. Press ok and wait for the instructions to pop up. When they do, connect the USB-cable FIRST to the phone and after that hold back key while plugging it to the computer. If the battery of the phone is too low I think it can cause problems, try to charge your battery (if possible) and try again. Also make sure to flash the appropriate FTF-file, accordning to your model.
