My galaxy nexus is unlocked and rooted but I'm running stock kernel. I'm getting an abort installation prompt while trying to install it Ota and the same manually through clockwork mod. Any suggestions.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
What's it say the error is? Just download the factory image and fastboot flash all except userdata.img. I think the ota fails bc of cwm, but not sure why it would fail through cwm.
It's saying installation aborted. Do u mean fast boot it from a CPU in command prompt?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I mean fastboot mode, like volume up+down+power, usb connected, command prompt on pc. If you dont know about fastboot, you should probably read these: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1812959 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895. By unlocked, i assume you mean bootloader unlocked, like an open padlock displayed at the google splash screen bottom..
Thanks bro!

Not needed here, OP should be able to recover/push a ROM to /sdcard/ through ADB/custom recovery.
@OP, this has been answered many times before. RTFM.

Thanks for help, my problem is solved with ADB cmd ))) thanks a lot
So i was about to flash the Cyanogen 10.1 ROM on to my phone when i accidentally wiped the system files off my phone. So i went to reboot and it said there was no OS installed on my phone and that SuperSU wasn't installed. When i try to boot it up it just sits at the google screen with the padlock icon at the bottom. If it makes a difference used TWRP (team win recovery project). I don't have a backup on my phone and i don't know what to do. I seriously need help guys. I'm desperate.... :crying::crying::crying:
Just flash stock
Push custom rom to sdcard via adb in recovery mode.
Or
Flash stock images

Get it fixed?

I updated to the new cwm the other day and attempted to download and install vanir 4.3. The Backup froze midway so I restarted the phone. It Still operates on my cm11 rom but I can't back up or re store anything. I'm not quite sure what to do Now, with my galaxy s4 i could Just Odin back to stock and start from scratch. Is there anything like that I can do to fix this?

Try to reflash the new recovery. If it still dosent work, flash back to the old recovery version and see if it works. Remember to do " fastboot erase cache " each time before fastboot flashing a recovery.
And yes you can "start over" like odin so to speak, its caled an ruu.
Yea so further testing and fix attempts have failed... When I run fastboot commands such as fastboot format system or anything to erase the cache it Just says failed every time. When I go in to the recovery it can't mount the system or anything. And now it is Just sticking at the HTC screen. Pretty sure it soft bricked (Thanks clock work mod). How would I go about this ruu?

Are you s-off or just unlocked? What hboot version are you on?
Let me find out, I am s-off and unlocked. Don't know the version though.

Bottom of second post. You want the 2.10.605.1 signed ruu.
What do I do with that once I get it? It's listed there but it's the only one with No directions Lol....

You need adb and fastboot setup on your pc. Put the zip file in the same folder with adb.exe and fastboot.exe. Rename it to something easy like ruu.zip. Then open a cmd prompt to where the files are located. Connect the phone and boot into the bootloader (hboot). Type in the cmd window
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
Then do
Code:
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
It may fail and say something about flushing if so run the second cmd again. Once it shows done in the cmd window, type
Code:
fastboot reboot
You should then be complete stock JB. Do the initial setup and it will prompt you to take the KK ota.
Will i Still be s-off and unlocked once i finish this? Before the Ota of course
Sent from my SCH-I545 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes you will still be s-off and unlocked even after the ota. Remember that the ruu wipes all your data, so make sure to back up your sdcard contents to your pc, such as pics, downloads, backups, etc.

I'm unable to back anything up because I can't get the phone to boot past the HTC screen with the red text. It can't mount system, data, or cache. The only thing I can do is boot into fastboot or the CWM recovery that bricked my phone to begin with. Also, I'm attempting to download RUU from the link you posted, on a 20mbps connection but it says 4 hours to download. Do you know of any mirrors I could try? I can't seem to find any through google.
Not that i know of. I will make one, but its gonna take 20 or so to upload to the server.
No worries, thank you so much for your help!

No you dont extract it. You flash that zip as it is.
Oh OK will do then!

So I did everything like You said, but when I type fastboot flash zip ruu.zip it says "error: cannot open 'ruu.zip'"

I tried multiple times and it doesn't do anything. I have the file in the fastboot folder as well.

Hi XDA,
my brother got his GNex wet and gave it to me. I took it apart entirely and let it dry overnight, I assembled it back together today but I can't get into the OS.
Bootloader, Fastboot, Download-Mode, recovery and ADB sideload all work fine but if I want to boot into the OS it just keeps rebooting at the Google-logo with the little lock at the bottom.
What I've tried so far:
Reflash the stock ROM via the Nexus Root Toolkit
Repartition and reflash stock ROM via Odin
Flash CyanogenMod in CWM
I've tried all of the above multiple times, I can't get it to boot.
Could it be that the internal memory is defective? If so, is there any tool that I could use to test it? Can I partiton "around" the defective parts?
Thanks for your time and help.

That's essentially exactly the same, all the toolkit does is execute the commands automatically

Fastboot does too with less failure chance and more input on what went wrong.

edit:
I just noticed that:

No ideas? :/

No ideas? :/
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm trying to figure out how to root my 32g sprint galaxy nexus SPH-L700. Just looking for a guide I can't find one anywhere. Thanks in advance.

waiting for the solution ...
Flash custom recovery via fasrboot and then flash latest supersu via recovery.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
A little more direction than that please? Maybe a link to a walkthrough? Last time I had to flash a custom recovery it wouldn't root properly. I would rather have a walkthrough than brickb my phone.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
The galaxy nexus is very hard to brick..
1. Download a custom recovery from the clockworkmod site.
2. Boot into fastboot and type: fastboot flash recovery the-name-of-the-recovery-you-just-downloaded.img (for this to work you need to paste the downloaded recovery.img into the fastboot folder)
3. Boot into recovery and select "install zip from sd card" (assuming you already downloaded the lastest supersu.zip)
4. Flash the latest supersu and wipe both cache and dalvik cache.
5. Reboot and enjoy.

Thank you so much in gonna try that today.

download recovery http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/toro
open command prompt
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash recovery {name-of-recovery.img}
then download SU from here
http://download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94.zip
and flash that in your new recovery.
