Hey guys i was wondering if you guys know why my phone its not locking it self, what im saying is that every time that im not using the phone, the screen goes black like always does but when i press the unlock button the phone is in the main screen not the unlock screen mode. i have to press the button twice so that i can see the normal unlock screen. Is there something i need to change on my settings?
Im running Embryo 6.3 and did all the fixes and its running great. Just the unlock screen not working like it should

Don't know if it's related to root or unlock bootloader.
Yesterday I used toolkit v7 to root and unlock my GN. All went very well. This morning, when I pressed power button to wake up the phone, the unlock screen came up for less than 1 second then the phone turned black screen. I didn't even have chance to slide the bar to unlock it. 2nd time I was successively unlocking it by sliding extremely fast in less than 1 second, then the screen turned to black again. However, you still can feel vibration when you touched the black screen, meaning the phone was actually working.
What I found was I have to repeat below steps 5 to 7 times to finally have stable unlock screen
1. press power to wake up, unlock screen flashes for 1 second and the phone turns black screen immediately
2. press power to make it sleep mode (still in black screen)
3. repeat first step
Anyone has similar issue and solution to help?
I am still with stock rom 4.0.4, only unlock bootloader and root, nothing else.

It doesn't have anything to do with root and boot loader unlocking. I had this problem on 4.0.2 but it went away after I rebooted.

Thanks. I have been trying to reboot at least 10 times and the same unlock issue still exists.
Hi I'm using Darkside Evolution 3 v7 Rom on my t989 right now, and it works great! But I wanted to know if there was a way to just have a swipe to unlock and pattern active at the same time. The reason I'm asking is because sometimes I put my phone down and pick it up in about 2 minutes, I have screen be turned off after 15 secs (I'm a battery hog), but find it a hassle to input my pattern to unlock everytime =\. Anyone have suggestions? I appreciate any help I can get!

Change your automatic lock time to about 2 minutes. This is not the time the screen turns, but the time it locks.

Thanks for your response. I just tried it, but it doesn't make swipe to unlock active. So when I set the lock time to 2 minutes, after the screen goes off, when I hit the power button to my phone, it goes straight to my home screen. Of course the whole thing with the swipe to unlock before getting to the home screen is just because of my preference for aesthetics lol.

I've been using my new note 2 for two weeks now.. and I like it so much
I also used sgs2 and 3 before.
I'm not new to android.. I flashed roms, know every single setting in the device, rooted my sgs2 and tried lots of apps to customize them.
Regarding my issue, I like to set my device to none screen security because I always manually lock it with a press on the lock screen button after I do whatever I want to do with it, and to unlock I always press Home button to get back to where I was immediately without the need to swipe the lock screen.
The problem is when I lock it and there is an app running and then press the home button the screen goes to home default screen and do not just unlock the screen and keep it there where I was last, this was not the case with my sgs2 or sgs3.
If I press the lock screen button instead it does what I want but I prefer to use home button because its much easier.
Its not a big issue but its annoying sometimes because sometimes I get popup notification windows while the phone is locked (whatsapp for example) and I press the home button to see it and instead of just turning on the screen to see the window it goes back to home screen and the popup is gone, or in cases where I'am writing an email or reading something and meanwhile talking to somebody, if the screen gets locked, If I press the home button everything is gone. So I have to switch tasks to open my activity again.
I don't know if this is a jellybean issue or hardware (homebutton).
I know its not a big deal but I would appreciate if somebody can help get around this

It seems to be a jellybean feature no way around unless a mod comes out...
All jellybean roms in Note I had this feature and i remember seeing this thing on SGS III jellybean too
Just install the S Voice app , "voicetalk_NLI.apk".
In S Voice, set "double click active S Voice" will fix the issue.

But the problem is that i use another app (home2) to control home button which makes me able to control what app runs when double clicking home or even use a combination of home with back or menu.
Its a very good app if you want to try it.
This leaves me with trying to deal with my original issue tho or just return to old factory setting

My ROGERS Samsung Galaxy SIII LTE SGH-i747M running Jelly Bean 4.1.1 has a lock screen bug! I have been googling around the web, but still couldnt find anyone with the bug I am having right now, so i am asking for someone to plz help me out here! The bug just started today, my phone is set to "Swipe" mode on the lock screen, so usually I would just need to swipe my screen to unlock my phone, but today, when i press my power button OR home button, my phone turned on, and showed my lock screen for 1 second, and it unlocked by itself. I didnt have to swipe or anything, all i did was pressed my power button OR home button, and it unlocked by itself. I know this is just a minor problem, but it is so annoying! I am sorry if i dont make any sense, because its hard to explain the situation I am having, but plzzz someone help me out here!

Goto settings >security and check what they are set at under lock screen. Less security than swipe is none, which means once it wakes up you are on the home screen.

But the problem i am having is that, mine is set at "Swipe", and before the bug happened, i can swipe my screen and unlock, but now, all i have to do is just turn on the screen with power or home button and my lock screen wall paper will show up and then half a second after, it will unlock to my home screen by itself, and it wont let me swipe.
The above bug happens to me sometimes. I then switched to using a pattern on my lock screen.
If I leave the phone unattended sometimes for a few hours, when I "wake" it, it reverts to a "swipe" to unlock instead of my pattern of password that was set. My phone is stock 4.1.1 and not rooted.

I've already restored my phone already (for other reasons), but it didn't work.

So i am guessing it is hardware problem then eh : / guess i'll go get my phone checked out, i'll update you after if you want. Guessing only 2 people replied to this post, i prob wont find a solution lol.
OK.. Was very happy to get it running an then the HORROR started. The phone talk to me constantly. Every move I make it tells me. Which stop me from scrolling all the way down. What I see on the screen when in settings is all I can access. If the screen goes off, it says SCREEN OFF. I lower the volume and tells me. How do I shut this thing up and get control of my phone..
Sprint GS3. Just updated to Cyangomod 10.2.1 RC Stable..Can'y give u anymore info cuz when I am in settings I can't get down to phone at the bottom to get important info.. Screen I see is what I get..

Your Talkback app has been activated, it is for vision-impaired users. You will need to use the physical buttons to navigate (power and volume up/down) to where you need to get in Settings in order to turn it off.
