[Q] Frustrating Experience With the Nitro HD.. - LG Nitro HD

This would be a great phone if the Dev community had simple guides put together with simple methods. I got root no problem, but apparently CWM is a whole different story. I followed the ROM Manager Install and it just plain and simple DOESNT WORK. WTF I WANT CM10.1!!!!

Well before saying this phone sucks, dont use rom manager, because IT DOES SUCK. Firstly, what stock version of android are you on ? If you are under ICS you will have to through an unbrick method to go back to GB since you cant boot in recovery mode under ICS with the LGP930 (LG Nitro HD or Optimus LTE), LG locked the bootloader along with the ICS update, therefore, it is unlockable. I would suggest this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044645 i used it and it worked, make sure you do all the steps accordingly, if it doesnt work the first time, dont get down on yourself, read the existing posts from other users and try again, it ll work trust me.
If you are under GB already (assuming you are already ROOTED), just install recovery by running this command from adb shell (make sure USB Debugging is activated), or with the android terminal app on your phone:
-put the recovery.img at the root of your SD CARD (could be called an other name, for exemple twrp.img, for my example i use recovery.img, but make sure you put right name of the file in the command)
***You can either get the CWM file from the unbrick thread above or get TWRP from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1888910 (i highly recommand you download TWRP, less issues reported and better interface since its touch screen, also lets you queue up to 10 files to flash along)***
ADB (must install android sdk tools first http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html):
Open command prompt
adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p13
Android Terminal App:
su
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p13
Reboot in recovery and you re done !

Current ROM Manager really has a problem, don't use it.
But the recent developments of all the ROMs are exciting. I'm running CM10.1 nighty with wind kernel, I can underclock to 1.3 for daily use and still runs very speedly.
I agree it requires a couple tricks to get it right at the beginning (unbricking), but it's only painful for the first time. After that, backing up and replacing ROM is just an exercise within 10min.
Have fun!

Re: [Q] This Phone Sucks
Thanks but no thanks. I searched the forums. The lg nitro hd forum has to be one of the most disorganized ive used. Im guessing because the mods didnt give it its own forum forever. And yes for hacking a phone this nitro hd is a pain. Ive rooted and installed cyanogen mods on many devices never had such a pain in the butt.. I think running all the utilities in xp compatibility mode will fix windows 7 issues. It seems to be working but im only part way through hererics guide now.. we will see.

[GUIDE] Forcing update 2.2.1 and re-rooting after downgrading

Force update + Re-Root Instructions!
Disclaimer: This is aimed at those of us who used travisjames' method of downgrading to stock. brian6685 confirmed this WILL work with a new phone running stock. I am not responsible for you bricking your phone, but there have been no reports of any bricking with this that I am aware of.
I don't know if many of you are running a software number starting with 1.13, but if you are before you follow these instructions you MUST first follow the "downgrade" instructions (actually an upgrade for you)
The downgrade post can be found here.
First: Forcing the Update
1. download this file save this as PD15IMG.zip
* This is not the same file as in the downgrading instructions!
2. reboot into bootloader and flash this update
* for me Wi-Fi stopped working at this point and my 3g/4g was acting funky
3. This is going to appear as if no updates were made when you reboot, but you will now be able to follow the root instructions in this thread perma root guide to get S-OFF
4. download Clockwork Mod, and The OTA
5. install the clockwork recovery (to do this because my 3g/4g was acting up I dialed *#*#INFO#*#* and in the phone info settings I set it to GSM only) then flash the update and you will have 2.2.1 and full working WIFI... also at this point if you did set it to GSM Only go back in and change it back to WCDMA preferred
**The big problem is wifi will not work after step 2 which is why I included the web downloads for clockwork rom... I used ADB to install them, but if you have astro or something similar you can get them installed that way too... Another way to fix this is to download the broadcom kernel module and insmod it... the reason for this is when you do the update off of the img it's just loading the system files and not running the patches against them. ie kernel gets updated but modules aren't applied
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Second: Re-Rooting
This was solved by following Grankin's instructions for fixing root and su after a flash... This requires uninstalling superuser and visionary then following thise steps. The referenced file is here and the original post about this is here
1. Using Explorer navigate to the root of your sdk. Hold shift and right mouse click on the tools folder. Select "Open command window here".
2. Type "adbbat" + enter. Wait till the batch file finishes.
3. Disconnect your phone from the PC.
4. Open terminal emulator on the phone and type "/data/local/rage" + enter. Wait for "Forked XXXXXXXX children" to appear and then close the terminal.
**Just ran through this again... the program you should use is "Android Terminal Emulator" the one labeled just "Terminal Emulator" repeatedly force closes...
5. Start terminal back up. It should force close.
6. Start terminal back up, again. This time it should stay open and you should have a "#" prompt instead of a "$" prompt. Then type "/data/local/temp.sh.
7. When the script finishes run /data/local/rage again and sit tight. The phone should start acting weird and do a soft reboot. Then right after everything loads it should do a hard reboot. After the hard reboot reboot and check S.(If it doesn't do the two reboots just reboot into hboot yourself after rage finishes with the "forked xxxxxxxx children" message.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
**When I did this on step 4 I had to go into settings>applications>manage applications>Terminal Emulator and Force Stop because it was not force closing, but when I did I had the "#" prompt when I reopened terminal then it worked as advertised
**If you experience force closes of sense after updating to 2.2.1 run the fix permissions from clockwork recovery and it should fix it. If it is still happening do a factory reset and continue from there.
**For you linux folks here's a little script to replace the adbbat.bat file. adbbat.sh I tested this and it moves all the files and chmods properly.
Credit goes to travisjames for figuring out how to downgrade to stock and grankin01's post about using rage to root when visionary is having issues.
Great find man! Hopefully this will work on all the pre-OTA devices and everyone can have root utopia!

I'd love to try this, but I don't see where the OTA plays a part here? May give it a shot when I get off work tonight.

Thanks man, I'm here to help if anyone has questions... I spent about a week waiting for someone smarter than me to figure it out... I have a little linux experience (I run a few servers for fun), but didn't think I would be able to figure this out... turned out it really wasn't too hard... I was about to try the rage thing when I came home today, but someone beat me to it and posted a link to your post, and that was the last piece of the puzzle.

the first file you're downloading is actually the image files from the OTA, this updates some files but doesn't do a full system patch. The thing it does update is the kernel, which allows you to use the original S-OFF method. Once you're S-Off you can install clockwork and flash the actual OTApkg.zip through clockwork's recovery. Then you have to reroot using rage because for some reason visionary thinks it's already rooted and su won't work...
Thanks alot man! I have a pre-ota device and im gonna give it a shot in a few minutes to see if it works. Ill let you know soon!
I am on a pre-ota device, i followed the instructions, and now I am s-off wow thanks alot man! Im gonna do the rest and get clockwork installed and install the update

I can either wip up a script or you can "edit" the batch file and use the commands inside it manually in your shell.

The first file you download which is called manualota.zip you need to rename it PD15IMG.zip and place it on your sdcard. When bootloader starts it will automatically look for a file with this name and flash from it.

you won't have root if you follow the force update method and not the re-rooting instructions, but if you do decide to root later visonary won't work you will have to use the rage method
Working on pre-OTA
Just would like to say thank you very much for this guide and confirm that it is working on pre-OTA.
Thank you!
Ok stupid question, after this step:
"3. This is going to appear as if no updates were made when you reboot, but you will now be able to follow the root instructions in this thread perma root guide to get S-OFF"
Should we just have S-OFF, and therefore need to use temproot to install clockwork and such, or should we have S-OFF and permaroot
edit: Nvm, the answer to the above is you should have S-OFF and Permaroot at this step, also I'm a complete dink...you shouldn't even need root to install clockwork, it's just a regular apk. It appears you CANNOT use VISIONary R12 for this, you have to use R11.

[Q] Mac OSX Slide Root Problems

Hello!
I am quite new to the forums as far as posting so don't kill me. I had rooted my previous slide before using one of the mac methods and I was happily running CM7. But a week or so ago my phone just stopped responding (buttons didn't work, unresponsive touch, even after going back to stock). So i sent the phone back to tmobile and got a new one. I am unfortunately having trouble rooting this slide with the Mac OSX methods posted. This is a new slide (opposed to the old one which didn't have a slash between the 0 on the keyboard) and many of the methods are for the old one. I have used almost every method there is out there and I have run into snags which are unfortunately unavoidable for me. Is there a set method on how to root and mount clockwork recovery for the new slide on the mac? or is it an existing one that would have to be modified, i.e. adding ./ before every command or something completely different?
Thanks!
Could you further explain the errors you're running into?
for one, i cannot get the phone to be discovered in recovery mode in the terminal using the loop.sh, it only shows it as offline. That is the big thing that is stopping me right now. i used this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705695 method the first time and it worked flawlessly, however the link for the files are dead and I cant find them anywhere. also the new slide method ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754020 ), really doesn't give clear instruction on how to run clockwork

Here's a link to the latest Mac android sdk: http://dl.google.com/android/android-sdk_r10-mac_x86.zip
as for the Slide Root package, I couldn't tell you, since I don't know what the rooter initially had in the folder.
The new rooting method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754020 , should work on mac OS just fine. The bit in the end about clockwork recovery is talking about s-off, which you don't need. But, without s-off, you cannot permanently flash clockwork, you would have to reboot into the stock recovery and manually flash clockwork update.zip unless you used rom manager to reboot into recovery.
In other words, following the steps on the New Root Method by nbetcher will work just fine for rooting your phone. If you don't feel comfortable yet working in areas of your phone that could potentially brick your phone if handled poorly, then don't bother with s-off and just use rom manager to reboot into clockwork recovery. It flashes it for you, so you don't have to manually go through the update.zip thing in the stock recovery.
I hope that helps, let me know if it wasn't explained clearly enough, I can try to better explain it.
Unfortunately for the guide you sent me, I type in the last command which is ./exploid and unfortunately it ultimately fails, for example it says i am supposed to see a # sign, but rather i get a $ sign. I have tried numerous times and it just keeps failing. I would of replied in that post but unfortunately i need 10 posts to do that
I have also used the non pc method which is listed in the n00b's faq, and when i come to the last step, I get a permission denied for misc

Does the ./exploid fail give you an error message? Or does it simply just fail? I don't have a mac, nor did I ever have to root my phone as it was given to me pre-rooted, so I can't be of much more help.

[GUIDE][ROOT][CWM] ARCHOS 97b Platinum HD

I came upon this device on Christmas (a gift from my girlfriend to her father) and wanted to root it and also install clockworkmod recovery, so I could mess with it a bit without bricking it. Since I found a lack of tailored guides for it, I decided to write this one, although I really did no actual development whatsoever. Normally I would be posting this on general, but given the spirit of this forum, I guess I'll just leave it here. Also, keep in mind I don't have the device anymore and am writing this from memory. If I missed anything or you have any doubts, please let me know (for example, I can't recall specifically the drivers I installed to make it work properly).
Please, please read the whole guide before trying anything, and if you are a novice user, just leave this be, I don't want you to turn your tablet into a paperweight because of my shoddy instructions written from memory and you probably don't need any of this anyway as there are no custom roms yet.
!!!DISCLAIMER!!!: As stated above, anything you do is at your own risk. I provided the procedures that worked for me on a Qilive 97r tablet, which is an Auchan branded ARCHOS 97b Platinum HD, so my step by step should work for all of you. There are probably easier ways to do this, and I hint at them in the guide, but beware I have not tried them and cannot vouch for them. In fact, I cannot and will not take any responsability if you brick your device following these instructions, correctly or otherwise. You do this at YOUR OWN RISK. You have been warned!
Rooting:
I followed this guide on Windows 7 x64 and it worked perfectly.
So thanks to dhigby for that. I would just like to make a couple of remarks:
When you get to step 7 (Installing Superuser by ChainDD), don't. Install SuperSU by Chainfire instead, Use it to update the superuser binary (I think a prompt shows up) and when asked, let it delete the "other" superuser applications, that is, the chinese one. Clean and easy, you don't need to follow any more steps.
Congratulations, you now have (english language) root!
Clockworkmod Recovery:
There is no specific recovery for this device. Fortunately, thanks to AndroTab.info, there's a generic version for 3188 devices that you'll see should work quite nicely, albeight with some caveats.
What works:
Nandroid backup to/from external SDCard (won't recognize internal)
Installing zip files should also work, although I didn't try it at the time, as the device wasn't mine and I can't since I don't have it anymore, but since it mounts system partitions perfectly well I wouldn't think there would be a problem. Try it at your own risk though.
Other things probably work, give it a try.
What doesn't work:
Internal SDCard access
Probably other things
Installation:
Now that you have a rooted tablet, installing clockworkmod recovery is easy-peasy. Go to developer options and enable USB Debugging, then make sure you have a working adb daemon (look it up) that recognizes your tablet.
NOTE: I'm not sure if I had to install any specific drivers for this to work, I think if so they were installed while rooting by the chinese app. Anyhow, here's the Rockchip drivers, you might want to try to install them if you can't get a connection: http://www.rockchip.nl/downloads/
Download the file RK30GENERIC_CWM.zip from here - that's the recovery.
Now extract flash_image and recovery.img from the downloaded file above to the folder where you have your adb and follow the following commands.
Push the files to /dev partition on the device:
Code:
adb push flash_image /dev/
adb push recovery.img /dev/
Then enter root shell, like so:
Code:
adb shell
su
Now flash recovery.img into recovery partition with flash_image:
Code:
chmod 755 /dev/flash_image
/dev/flash_image recovery /dev/recovery.img
Now power off your device. To enter recovery press volume down then the power button and keep them pressed until CWM boots. Voilá!
NOTE: The instructions above were adapted from here and all credit goes to AndroTab.info ; I posted these particular instructions because they are the ones I used and worked for me; there are other methods listed on that page which might or might not work, TRY THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Backing up your original recovery (for warranty, if anything goes wrong, etc.)
To obtain a backup image of your recovery \ restore it back afterwards, follow this guide here. All credit goes to Originalas.
Don't follow it to the letter though: first and foremost, you need a working linux installation. If you don't have one, I recommend Wubi.
Then:
Follow step 1;
Ignore step 2 (it's outdated);
Follow 3;
Follow 4 - but don't expect the screen to turn on, it won't, just hold the volume down button for 10 seconds or so after plugging it in, don't press the power button!
Ignore 5, 6 and 7
Follow 8, but don't use the last command to flash the CWM recovery onto the device. This is because since it is a generic version, it relies on the original recovery kernel. Flashing the image like stated in step 8 would probably overwrite the kernel and result in no recovery at all (I might be wrong about this).
Do follow the last command to restore your own backup if you ever need to.
I am unsure if recovery dumps obtained in this way are device specific; I don't see a reason why they should be, so I'll provide you with my own backup:
ORIGINAL RECOVERY
Flash through any method of your choice, but keep in mind I haven't tried this on other devices, so, as you know by now DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Closing remarks:
There you have it. Sorry for not holding your hand through every step, but this is meant for people who know a bit of what they're doing, making it faster than having to look up and figure out all these things and quirks on their own. If you have any doubts don't hesitate to ask, but keep in mind I don't have the device anymore and don't know much more than what I have written here. I do appreciate feedback and corrections, and will gladly change the guide giving you full credit - if it's really urgent just PM me, I might not check this thread often.
Cheers!

I wouldn't keep my hopes up on custom roms. The software is really bad and what it does with the hardware is terrible. It's like a bunch of chipmunks put the code together by randomly typing into a keyboard.
That said, the likelihood of a new kernel to fix that is next to nil. However, since the ROM is as far as I can tell pretty near stock, you can get a pretty good experience from the device by installing gravity box xposed module. I also recommend trickstermod and changing the governor to performance, as well as some kernel tweaking if you know what you are doing.
Also, very important, limit the amount of processes running in the background to 3 in dev settings or change the used memory limit to something like 1.2 gb. It has 2 gb of RAM, but, as I said, the ROM sucks, the system eats away a full gigabyte, and it doesn't effectively kill background apps, leaving you with a sluggish device if you multitask.
Anyway, those are just some ideas, if you have some more or would like to code for this device, feel free to share Also, as I always say, give it time. You never know who is gonna get they're hands on the device and do something amazing with it.

hi and thanx for the answer
yes i saw that it's almost stock but crappy optimized...in the very first start of the tablet i had 1.8gb occupied by nothing and clean master always notifies me that 90% of the ram is busy...meh
maybe just a kernel will fix like you say but you know, android 4.4 will be a must (rockchip already released sdk for 3188). I am not a coder (totally zero) but i will try your suggestion...just a question about the performance governor, does it drain more battery?
i am trying to backup my rom but cwm is so buggy...first was impossible, now i'm stuck on backing up boot image
there is a twrp available for this tablet?
solved

[Q] Galaxy Nexus help

Hi,
I require advice as to how i should proceed with my recent purchase blunder.
Background: I required a cell since my current one started acting up with frequent call drops and shut downs. I scoured my local craiglist and got a used Galaxy Nexus for ~$ 100. The guy said it wasn't rooted, and so i proceeded to purchase, but only realised now that the cell is infact rooted, with ClockworkMod (not well versed with droid) and some functions / options do not work as intended. I want to unroot it and i tried to follow this guide, but it gets stuck at
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
saying waiting for device.
Not sure what to do as i'm fine even if i have to stay rooted, but i want the damn thing to work properly.
Also, if anyone can recommend how i go about installing ROM's
Regards,
Probably drivers. Just manually boot into bootloader.. And then flash the factory image.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Fastboot reboot-bootloader command will only work if you are already in the bootloader mode anyways...
As @mrgnex said, just do it manually, or use adb commands to boot into bootloader where THEN you use fastboot command.
To manually get into bootloader/fastboot mode; power down, then hold power button and volume up AND down all at same time for few seconds, it'll vibrate and you'll be in the bootloader mode where u can issue the fastboot commands.
Ok. I tried to put the .tgz file onto the cell and tried to install the file from there which is ~250mb. But when i try to select installing from s/d card, it does not show up the file there. I am most cretain i'm doing something wrong, and so would like to know what it is ? Any other guide that could be a little easy to follow ??
You don't actually move the factory images onto your phone.
One of the sticky threads here is called "return to stock". That should guide you in the right direction.

it's great that you're learning to do this Droid life has a good howto, just google "droidlife how to root galaxy nexus"
if worse comes to worse you can use this toolkit that does it for you, it's called wugfresh google "wugfresh nexus toolkit"
If you want to install ROMs you download the zip right on your device (make sure you get a ROM zip file AND a gapps zip file. They are linked in pretty much every OP for ROMs)
Downloading a ROM zip directly from/on device is easiest because then you do not have to transfer the file(s) over to your device in order to "flash"(aka install). Then all you do is go into recovery mode. Then go to install, then choose your ROM zip file. After that installs, then install gapps file the same way, always install gapps zip AFTER the rom zip.
If you use TWRP as your custom recovery you can "queue" your zip installs(choose rom zip and then you can choose to add another zip file and it will flash them both for ya)
And usually it is recommend to do a factory reset from recovery before you reboot into system. (Make sure to not wipe ALL /data...choose factory reset...wiping ALL /data will wipe /sdcard contents as well)
This all might seem foreign and difficult at first, but once you've done it once or twice(or more... you might become what we call a "crack flasher"-one who is constant changing ROM and kernel and setups lol, that's when it gets REALLY fun) so do not get discouraged. Especially if you don't understand the terminology we all use, you will become familiar with it quickly. And remember, Google is your best friend, almost any questions you might have will yield MANY helpful results when you put in a Google search, highly recommend that if using Google for trying to get useful info to put things like "how to install custom recovery "Galaxy Nexus" xda" to get the best info possible )
And do not be afraid to ask us either if you feel lost. It's easier to prevent an issue than to fix it(though fixing a borled Gnex is fairly easy with all the tools available here and elsewhere)
As for going back completely to stock, as mentioned above, to do that you aren't putting any files onto your device itself. You download them to PC(I use my laptop) and install from there using fastboot. When you download the factory img that is for your specific device and unzip it (I believe they still come compressed... If not ignore that part sorry!) You will see inside there is a script called "flash-all.sh" OR if using windows use the "flash-all.exe" that will automate the fastboot commands needed for a full factory stock restore of the device.
I could link you to posts containing useful how-tos and info and such, but right now I'm viewing forum via Tapatalk app on my device and really gonna be lazy and just say look at the "Sticky posts" in General, Q&A, and Development sections, those are most likely what I would link to you here.
After reading through some of those, if you need clarification of steps taken or something, come on back and let us know.

Maybe on contract for that price yes.
But for $100 no contract, that's not bad for a Gnex.. considering I paid ~400 just over 1.5yrs ago lol. And a highly developed device at that.
MAYBE could have found another device for a little bit more in the 150-200 range that was newer. But 100aint bad for a gnex

I managed to root this device today using king root. The first try failed. I ran it a second time and got it to work. I installed titanium backup which gave a warning that the superuser binary was functional but may cause problems. I installed supersu from the play store and tried to update the binary, which failed, even after a restart. Not sure what that means, perhaps someone more knowledgeable can tell me. I also installed other root apps, SD maid pro and rom toolbox pro, both of which seem to function as they should. I have yet to confirm root with a root checker but I intend to shortly. Hopefully this information will help with further development of this device.
The above listed method works. I did it this morning by fluke. I just tried it thinking it wouldn't work but it did. I have lollipop v 5.0.2 and the kingrooy file I downloaded was from google searching "king root" without apk. Half way down you should see the 4.6 link.
Current version is 4.6x which works on most newer mid grade phones. Then I used kingroot to SuperSU files and setup which I got from Google. Can't remember link but search kingroot to supersu and it should be the first link. Run and reboot enter supersu and update binary. You ready to install root apps, debloat, and customize. Haven't found any customs kernel, ROMs, recovery, or anything so I will be working on that soon. Keep an eye out in the near future. Unregistered user until I finish posting.

King root
King root version 4.5.0 works for Alcatel one touch conquest thank you very much. Titanium backup doesn't like the manager and anticipates problems and recommends superSU. I was unable to install the binary normally but haven't tried using the cwm or twerp option. Busybox 26 installed and I'm new to xda and will continue on the subject.

my device is bricked! i have the alcatel onetouch conquest 7046t for boost mobile....i read this thread and decided to do exactly what everyone who posted on the thread said to do...i i got kingroot version 4.6, and it worked on the second try....but no root apps would work... netspoof said that i might have not given it superuser permissions ( which i did...when kingroot asked i clicked allow) and titanium backup pro said it failed to get root and that it recommends supersu....i installed superuser from chains sd and tried to update the binaries, but it failed......i notcied that in superuser it said that i had root and it said something about kinguser in superuser...so it bacame clear to me that i need to switch kinguser with superuser...or supersu like titanium backup and this thread suggested
so i followed the directions and found kingroot to supersu on google and let the app "supersu me" do its thing...
while supersume was uninstalling kingroot, and installing supersu....something popped up and asked me if i wanted to delete all the files associated with kingroot...i clicked yes....and thats what i think caused my phone to brick
when it said supersu was successfully installed, i went to the app and successfully updated the binaries...right....well it told me that i should reboot the phone because i just updated the binaries so i clicked the reboot now button that the app offered me and the phone went to reboot....but stayed at the alcatel onetouch screen and all i can access is the recovery mode....in recovery logs it says something about no such file or directory for dev/tty0 or soemthing. it said it again in something about the bootloader....
so i think what happened is when i told supersu me to delete all files associated with kingroot it went ahead and deleted a bootloader file or something....normally i would just reinstall the stock rom but this damn phone is so new there isnt one online anywhere
so anyways....can anyone tell me where to get the stock rom or how to unbrick my phone.....i want to just put the stockrom on an sd card and apply it as an update to restore whatever file that is missing and keeping it from booting up....i was thinking (since i happen to have a duplicate phone) that i could make a backup of the same exact phone in twrp and put it on the sd card, switch it to the bricked phone...recovery mode...apply update from phone storage...and bam...that shoulod work! right?
the only thing is....can you put twrp on this phone yet? there is really no development on it at all
so here are the questions i need answered
does anyone have a stock rom of this phone they could put in this thread?
can i get the stock rom straight from alcatel?
has anyone got twrp or cwm recovery onto this phone
i have never bricked a phone and not been able to fix it...i refuse this to be the one

same thing here, except I can't boot into recovery or download. fflashcustom custom twrp from the aforementioned. still won't boot into recovery, hangs at the alacatel logo. what I did was hold down volume and power til it reboots 3&4 times, than it seems to boot back to a android. I even tried the factory restore and it wouldn't do that either. *shrug* imma hafta do more research and find out wtf. but ya, that should fix your sh*t. also. and haven't found the boost stock rom yet either. it's a custom rom, it's not actually lollipop.

I couldn't find the Alcatel Onetouch Conquest 7046t listed in the list of devices on this site at all, other than in a few posts. Maybe people don't think it's a worthy device to work on? Anyway, enough of that rant, what I would like to contribute here is that I tried using kingroot for my old Motorola xt912 which I had install Dirty Unicorns KitKat ROM on successfully, but lost root on. First it said it couldn't root it, then, after trying again, said it could. I started receiving alerts from Avast staying it has detected viruses, and it seemed to install it's own version of super user, when I already had the one by chain installed.. Which struck me as suspect activity and rose yet more red flags.
I also find it suspect that the users posting here on this thread seem to only be newbies.
Any thoughts or feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.
P.S. .. And yes, I am interested in rooting this phone, debloating it, installing custom rooms, etc.

Rusty, it's possible that the reason your phone bricked is that it was not fully/properly rooted in the first place. So when SuperSu tried to Un-kingroot it, something went terribly wrong. By the way, had you remembered to turn Developer Options on and set USB Debugging on before running the KingRoot app?
Anyway, there are a couple of options to easily unbrick since you have an identical device.
Note that you can't unbrick by installing TWRP or CWM on your working device, then flashing the bricked device, UNLESS you already have the same custom recovery installed on the bricked device and can boot into that recovery. These recoveries do not provide their backups as a flashable zip, nor are they compatible with each other, which is why you need the identical custom recovery on the bricked phone.
Here is how you can unbrick your device. Go to Alcatel's website and download and install their Mobile Upgrade S software - you will find the link in the support tab for most of their models (or use Google to find it). This is the official Alcatel tool that you would use to flash their stock ROMs onto your bricked phone.
That's the easy method. But if you want a learning adventure, let's pull out your working device. Lol. Go ahead and root it with the King Root app. You may have to try several times to get it fully and properly rooted. Make sure you run a root checker app to confirm that it's rooted. Do not use the SuperSu Me utility yet.
Once you've confirmed it's rooted, install busybox. I prefer the Busy Box X app from Rob Nedi over Stericson's.
Ok, so now we want to install the MTK Droid Tools on your computer. On your phone, make sure USB Debugging is still on. Now connect your phone to the computer and let the drivers for the phone automatically install. Once the drivers are installed, run MTK Droid. It should automatically detect your phone. Next select the Blocks Map button. Then save the scatter.txt file it gives you. Make a folder somewhere because you're going to next use SP Flash Tool to backup the ROM from your phone.
Use Google and XDA to learn how to use MTK Droid and SPF. Here's a helpful link:
http://freaktab.com/forum/mtk-based-devices/mtk-phones/13919-some-useful-tools-for-mtk-phones
Once you've installed SPF on your computer and created the ROM_0 readback of your ROM, go back to MTK Droid Tools and let it break the ROM_0 down into all the partitions that are contained in the ROM. You do this on the root.backup.recovery tab of MTK Droid. Select the "To Process File ROM From Flash Tool". Note that during this process, the Tool will give you the option to create the ClowWorkMod recovery for your phone!
Once the ROM partition files are created by MTK Droid, place them in that folder you created. At this point, you can use SPF to flash the stock ROM to your bricked phone. This will unbrick your phone.
(There's an even simpler way to unbrick your phone with SPF. Instead of backing up the entire ROM of your working phone with SPF and then processing that ROM woth MTK Droid, in this case, you will just READBACK the ROM up to the recovery partition and no further. Then do a direct MEMORY WRITE of that partial ROM to your bricked phone. This will unbrick it. But this approach will not allow you to create the CWM recovery.)
Finally, once you've unbricked your phone, you can install either the Flashify or Rashr app on your phone, and use that to flash the CWM recovery image you just made with MTK Droid onto your phone's recovery partition. I usually also flash the boot_patched boot image, which was also created by MTK Droid, to the boot/kernel partition.
Long post, but I wasn't sure if you were up to an adventure. Please note that there is always a risk that you brick your working device if you make a dumb mistake along the way. It's going to be really hard to brick your working phone because you're pretty much just reading from it and not writing anything to it except when you are rooting it....but just be careful. You've been warned. Lol. But I suspect that like me, a bricked device is just a learning challenge. So enjoy.
Don't forget to thank me!

Rusty they sent that phone to you special delivery from HELL! They're just testing you, bro. Lol
But seriously, I think if you could somehow get the scatter.txt for the demon (without having to risk rooting and bricking a good one), then it would be possible to use SP Flash to simply read back the ROM of a properly working phone (up to and including the recovery partition) then simply do a direct memory write onto any bricked device. Should wake it up immediately after the flash. The only exception would be if the custpack partition had something really stupid done to it...like someone messing with the buildprop.txt file! That would put it into a head-spinning bootloop.
So the key here for this demon is for someone on this thread to post the scatter.txt file PLUS a working stock ROM. Is there anyone out there who has already successfully rooted who can post a ROM? Or at least post the scatter.txt?

i tried rooting the new alcatel the same exact way ( usb debugging was enabled both times) and ended up bricking it....i was doing this for my friend...we ended up just going to boost and telling them that there was a defect in the phone they gave him the day before and told them to give him the moto e ( which has so much developement on it its insane)
anyways my friend just gave me the other bricked alcatel one touch conquest and said that if i can fix it i can have it. so i no longer have a duplicate device to work with . can i even flash a stock rom with the original recovery ? im going to try to download the program from alcatels website like you said and see if that works
then if i get it working im going to get the program you were talking about where u said i can make a clockworkmod recovery for it....

So enjoy.
Don't forget to thank me!

strike the alcatel mobile upgrade S off the list of possibilities...
first of all.... the alcatel onetouch conquest 7046t is not even listed in supported devices, and when i downloaded/ installed mobile upgrade to my windows computer it said " pick your device " and it wasdnt listed in the dropdown menu there either
i still tried selecting the 7047 , because it was closest to 7046, and tried to run the program and it just said it was scaning my device for an ungodly amount of time
so im looking for other methods

Uh oh! I think I see the problem here. The Conquest runs a QUALCOMM chip! All along, I've been running with the assumption that this Alcatel was running the MTK chipset. Everything I've described here is thus for naught! Those tools, like SPF and MTK Droid, only work with phones that use the MTK platform. They will not even recognize the Conquest.
My sincere apologies, but I don't even know what tools would even work with this sucker. Oh my God... I'm beside myself with embarrassment...I can't believe I made such a serious mistake.

Did you get full root with KingRoot? Do your root apps actually work properly? Please confirm as others have reported that the root with KingRoot did not function properly or with all root apps.
Another question several people have is where to get the flashable stock firmware for this phone?
