Hi everyone,
I am a ROM dev and I wish to create a new ROM for Xperia S. I have so far noticed that AOSP looks are not very popular in this forum, so I want some suggestion from the people of this forum.
Thanking you,

I would die 4 this one
CM10 with the following mods:
Xperia NXT Lockscreen
Xperia media apps (walkman, sound enhanscements, gallery, download music info)
Xperia status bar and launcher
Xperia camera
Btw with the recovery of stock ics kernel o at least a recovery that works ok, not like the other ones that mess up everything with the partitions and cache.
And that's all i can think about right now. :good:
Ive been trying to gather those myself but its almost impossible as i always end up with a bootloop.
Uh um, I would prefer to develop on a stock base. Also, we are any way going to get official JB so no point in theming CM10 to look like stock right?
Thanks a lot anyway
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
I'm an ion user but if you're going stock based I'd just like something that's fast and smooth. My current stock ics slows down all the time. If you make a fast stock based rom that works on locked bootloader me and a bunch of people would be super happy.

I believe that is not possible - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2171082
As the above link says, pimp my rom **should** work.
How about helping rayman to develop pure cm10.1 rom ?? So the development of the rom will be faster and will be the best rom .... Pure CM is the best rom i think and many people use it to based their rom, because the development is daily and many user reporting bugs ....
And now it's only on v4 going to v5 ..... I think you will be busy to develop that rom
Sent from my LT26ii using xda app-developers app
Maybe u can develop rom on stock kernel, with out need to ub, bcoz some people like me dont want lost drm key. And i hope u can make for acro s to bcoz development for acro s very slow, not many choices...

Well i must say i appriciate your work, nexus, for XS, cause people with locked bl are left with no choice between sony and AOSP, i think you will have a bunch of users when v.2 comes out, also when JB comes. Only thing that stoping people to decide for your rom is. FW.55 base instead 45, 50 . Cause they already rooted on those FW and it is much simple to do, cause no need to use flashtool, and not riskig warranty because then can revert on carrier braded Fw in chase of trouble,
Any way i realy hope that you wont give up nexus xperience, i have been searching for it long time
Or try porting Cm , pac,...on LBL especialy for people that cant unlock BL,like me, i would unlock it if i could, and there are many folks in same situation
Poll added
Hi guys,
Thanks for all the suggestions. I have come up with some ideas. Please participate in the newly added poll so that I will know what to build. Also, I will be able to make roms only for Xperia S/SL as I don't have any other devices. Sorry. [ Unless someone manages to port it of course ]
Thanking you,
abcdjdj

Maybe you can make CM9 for locked bl? It's easy and fast. A lot of people will appreciate that

Seems to be very interesting, but it would probably be quite buggy. Here check this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2112616
Multiview like in galaxy note 2 for xperia s/sl
if possible can u develop a rom with the multiview functionality available in galaxy note 2...it has also been ported to galaxy s2 without official help so i guess its not impossible for a screen size of our mobile??

That would be quite difficult and apart from being difficult, apktool has a problem with our phone's framework-res.apk and hence whatever you do, after modifying framework-res.apk, the phone bootloops. There is a work around for that using a binary diff program but it would be extremely difficult and time consuming.
Hy i have been thinking for a while and wanted to suggest you to take look in xperia neo development section, for rom called jjdoctors hybrid i used that rom when i had Neo, and its awsome, support both BL statuses, i think you would have a great response, and many users in XS section
What do you say?

Its NOT AOSP.. Its a Hybrid of Sony and AOSP ROMS...

And bootloader is not a problem at all. Actually speaking, all custom roms based on stock ics **should** work on both bootloaders.

Of course I had searched a lot. Ticklefish and a few other guys were also wondering why my framework-res.apk was bootlooping. Thanks for the link anyway.
I'm have been looking around for a new phone to replace my Samsung Galaxy Ace and came down to these two phones i.e. Xperia S amd Xperia Ion and I'm really torn. I can't make up my mind at all.
As you all are users already, I would like to get some insight into these two phones, the things I'm looking into are :
1)Developer community support (custom roms and stuff).
2) Battery life under moderately heavy usage(I won't mind charging once or twice daily)
3) Screen- contrasts, blacks, whites
4) I think the Camera is basically the same? Right?
5) All the reviews I've read have complained about the capacitive keys on both of them. How is it in reality? Is there a learning curve to it?
Any input would be highly appreciated. No trolls please.
Thanks.

I think all ions are locked bootloader so therefore the development is limited

1)Development of XS is more than ion
2)ion's battery is bigger than XS , it must charging once a day if you use an android phone.

Yes, I think ARNOB is right. It can be unlocked I think.
ARNOB, how's the Ion?

At&t ions cant be bootloader unlocked, the rest can.
Ion has bigger screen and sd card support. Developer comunity is a lot bigger for xperia s. Capacitive buttons work fine on the ion(on mine i need only one press). Personally i was going to go for an S but choose the ion instead.

Well, I've used a galaxy ace as well as both Xperia S and Xperia Ion. So here's my conclusive answer.
1. The community is very big for the Xperia S but in terms of mods and everything, ion is no way left behind.
2. Xperia Ion HSPA has a better battery imo compared to the LTE variant(due to 4G) and Xperia S.
3. Xperia S is said to have a larger dpi resulting a sharper display though I couldn't really feel the difference. While the Xperia Ion has deeper blacks, larger screen.
4. Camera is fully identical.
5. The capacitive buttons for both have no issues. But you might need a week to get used to it as its quite different from Samsung.
Hope it helps

hey guys!!!
i am keen to get a ZL soon.. and hell yes i prefer the ZL over s4 or HTC One.. but i just checked out the forum & noticed that not major development has taken place yet.. be it custom ROMs or MODs.. wherein Z's forum is full of it.. that puts me one step back.. will ZL get less development than Z??? I would really want to stick with a phone which happens to be modded & developed... Its strange to know that ROMS for Z & ZL would be different as both of them are practically the same phone apart from the outer curvature & 2-3 tiny features... any takers to explain this to me??
Also battery life means a lot to me.. wanna know from the users as to how is the battery performing.. I am on HTC OneX at the moment & the only think i dont like about this phone is the battery life... need ur input guys!!! pls help!!
The ZL hasn't been made available globally as the Z did, so give it some time for it to pick up in popularity. The Z had an entire month head start on the market, and the ZL was only available two weeks ago.
Would some devs care to chip in as to whether developing for the ZL is any different than developing for the Z?
AW: [Q] No custom ROMS on ZL????
I think most dev will code for Z, because that is the advertised flagship. Nevertheless I hope that Mods and Roms can easily be ported from Z to ZL.
There is a first Cyanogen Port, although the ZL isn't released yet in many parts of the world. Samsung maybe won't get it years after release.
And you don't need 238 different ROMs, you just need one that fits!
If someone would help get me started I'd make a Rom for the ZL. I made a stripped down and buildprop changes Rom on the Samsung mesmerise which is the cdma version of the galaxy s back in early 2011. But I'm not sure where to start now :/

I'm in. The only thing that really needed on ZL is voltage control because the phone gets quite warm during prolonged operation. I don't like it. I see DooMLorD making custom kernel for the Z and I hope he will make one for ZL as well. But since he is busy with life that may take some time...

There is nothing wrong with stock ROM. Only thing is we need more customisation like voltage control and such. Stock Xperia Launcher suffers from lags from time to time. I just use stock 4.2 Jelly Bean launcher and works much better than Xperia Launcher in terms of smoothness and responsiveness

Basically flash addicted
one more thing is customization like
status toggle bar options
black theme especially navigation bar
small on screen buttons which is really annoying as accual screen size is less than 4.8 or something
camera tweaks etc etc...

Good news
Back in June, we reported of a new Sony Xperia S (LT26i) firmware update that was rumoured to arrive in early July. Well obviously that did not come to pass, but apparently a new update is still on the agenda for Xperia S/SL owners. Sony pretty much confirmed as much on the official support forums, saying that it will have build version number 6.2.B.1.XX. There’s no ETA for the update, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled.

Sure they will...most of Xperia S users only think that Sony will only fix the problems in their phone (Xperia S) only because they (Sony) did reply and respond inside SXS forum...talk about typical Xperia S user that think of their own importance and forget about the others (Xperia SL,Acro S and ion)...

And yes, this is keeping me away from flashing PROPER Custom ROMs, which means that some people (incl. me) will have to stick to 4.1.2 forever...
Envoyé depuis mon ONDA MID en utilisant Tapatalk 4 Beta
I actually prefer 4.1 ROMs on xs coz they're much more stable compared to 4.2. I have had battery issues with 4.2 ROMs on xs. Hope Sony release a faster, more stable and more efficient 4.1 rather than 4.2. Lets not forget xs runs on over 2 year old cpu.
[OT]My Wildfire S runs with CM10.1 nearly better than with Stock 2.3.5. But let's not forget it has a CPU that was already 2-3 years old when it was released (ARMv6 generation). [/OT]
