Hi,
Seems that I can't install 4.2.2 because my phone has been modified (root, custom kernel).
I can't find factory image of 4.2.1 here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images It was replaced by 4.2.2 images?
Could you post a link to a mirror with 4.2.1 image or at least boot.img file ("takju", 4.2.1).
Thanks!

Why not just backup, flash 4.2.2 and then restore?

Changes in 4.2.2 are so minor this time (at least for me) that I want to do an upgrade first time in my life rather than full reinstall

I've never done an OTA on my Nexus, and only did it once on my One X as I was in the user trial for JB so it was the only way. I prefer to use full images, but then again I don't have a lot to back up as most data is cloud-based and I don't game on my phone so never really lose anything

Hello,
I tried to post this on developers forum but i couldnt because im new here.
I have a Galaxy Nexus with a Custom 4.0.3 and I can't upgrade to 4.0.4 because assertions fail on install.
I read that i should to restore stock 4.0.2 but all links point to yakju-icl53f-factory-89fccaac.tgz in google android's page but this link is no longer available.
Somebody could help me to get this image and restore my phone Please.
Thank you in advance

Download Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit from the developer forum. Then click 'flash stock + unroot'. the program will download the stock ROM for you and put you back to factory 100%.
Edit: Here's the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454314
There are no problems, with 40.4. Flash the provided miages (Unpack the tgz) make sure, that you flash the radio AND bootloader first, though! (Then maybe restart, after flashing those (Into bootloader))

In part i would agree, however i've been using that toolkit for awhile now and it's never failed me. It's a sticky in the Android Gnex developer forum with plenty of exposure and comments that haven't had anything negative to say about it. Cautious is good though, don't take my word for it - read the thread and see what others have to say about it.

Not that I have the Verizon Nexus .. but yeah its coming out... it was updated and it seems another user got the update as well. =]

I hope someone can post the radios as flashable zip. Gotta be patient hehe
I guess if u clear the Google services framework within app and press check for update... perhaps it'll work =]… if it doesn't the first time.. try 10 more times. It will say last checked on 1969 ... disregard that
- Galaxy Nexus
Looks like it is rolling out (or at least starting to).
For anyone who has received it, would you mind looking in the log files in /cache/recovery and try and find the name of the update file (ending in .zip) please and post it in this thread. Thanks.

Just reading through the comments on the article, seems a couple people are getting (Much) better signal strength. Whatever they did it seems to have worked! (Maybe they just poured butter all over the radio code?)

Potentially! Are they comparing them to the leaked 4.0.4 radios? Doubtful since they upgraded and were presumably on 4.0.2 lol.
Either way, someone needs to find the images and make a flashable zip. I need something to do at work, nah mean?
So if I am running Liquid (4.04) will all I have to do is flash the new radios once they are available?
Sorry for the noob question. Just got my nexus last week and new to the flashing scene.

Yes. Radios are compatible with pretty much anything. They are separate from the rom, and do not even "stick" with a nandroid.
OK I'm running the leaked 4.0.4... I'll have to revert to 4.0.2 yo receive this correct? And I installed Franco's kernel last night. Anywhere I can pick up stock kernel?

Just use a tool like Wugs or the GNEX toolkit to relock and unroot.

Don't hold your breath of course. The only reason I put any merit in this is one of the radio versions is listed in AOSP.

No, you are right -- you can't receive the update with a custom ROM, but a rooted stock ROM is perfectly fine. Bootloader lock/unlock makes no difference.

Yup. I completely misread and feel like an ass, my apologies.
It's official. The GSM Galaxy Nexus Jelly Bean FINAL OTA has officially started rolling out. Final release, folks! We ain't talkin' previews here.
Build version number seems to be JRO03C, rollouts for takju and yakju on maguro devices have been confirmed, no other concrete info yet on any other builds/versions.
Changes? Seems to be pretty much the same as JRN84D, probably with stability fixes, etc. But when comparing with ICS, there are many new features obviously.
OTA update links:
takju 4.1 JRN84D to final 4.1.1 (JRO03C) : Download official ZIP (thanks CocoCopernicus and mbirth!)
takju 4.0.4 IMM76I to final 4.1.1 (JRO03C) : Download official ZIP (thanks a lot lostinbeta!)
Yakju 4.0.4 IMM76I to 4.1.1 final JRO03C: Download official ZIP (Thanks a lot jellymelly)
Instructions on how to flash the update links, are on Efrant's thread here. Note that you need to be on 100% stock to be able to flash the zips. That means, your radio, bootloader, kernel, boot, system, etc should be completely stock. Rooting is fine though, the update should flash fine on rooted devices but you might have to restore root later on.
Update: Search functionality is NOT being removed with this update, as per this quote from The Verge's post:
Update: A Google spokesperson has informed us that the company has not pushed out any changes to search functionality in connection with the Jelly Bean update.

Why? ... expect a stock image for 4.1.1 to be available soon.
What was that trick you could use to update to 4.0.4? It had something to do with clearing data somewhere. Will that still work?

Run alogcat before you install, and look for a file name ending in .zip.
Or, install it, root, and then open the log files in /cache in a text editor and look in there.

My friend has problems with his phone, when he got it back he no longer had jellybean 4.2 only 4.1
I've just checked, he has build: JRO03C.19250XWLH2
When he goes a manual update (Vodafone UK) it says no update found, but he HAD it before (and updated when he had it on Vodafone)
How can he get the latest OS back on his phone, as far as i can see, there is no branding, its raw android.... Very strange....
Thanks all.
Check if it's yakju. If it is then he should get the update. Or just flash the JOP40D factory image

Also update the Kernel to the latest leankernel 5.8 for JB 4.2 and your GNEX:highfive: for some reason other Kernels are working but htis one provides best battery life for this ROM so far...
And give it a few days on a fresh install it sucks down the battery life but this seems lo level out to normal I am not sure what operations go on for the interim when you first install this ROM...

yes, thank you for that! he doesnt want a custom ROM - why should he have to bother with a BETA firmware (cos thats what it is at the end of the day) - he just wants stock latest google.
its a puzzler thats for sure.

(if it was me, id root it and install a custom build - or at least force a stock manual build like i did once with my Google Nexus One, when vodafone weren't pushing out gingerbread)
