Trouble Downloading ROMs - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I did a search and didn't find anything. So I got my SKORPN cable today and was ready to root and flash a new ROM. However, I can't seem to download any of the ROMs on Goo.im. It will start up, but hangs at less than 1MB.
Will becoming a sponser alleviate this problem? What's going on? I don't have a problem donating to things I use, but I don't want to do so if I still won't be able to download. Maybe it's my connection? I don't have trouble downloading off any other website. I've tried it from 2 different computers.

Try force stopping Goo.im sometimes it miss behaves. If that doesn't work then don't use goo.im to download. Try downloading with the browser and flash it through goo

Thanks. I found a way around it before reading your reply. I installed Goomanager on my phone and downloaded it through there. I'll just move it to the computer through USB afterwards. :good:

why do all that? I am currently downloading a ROM with the Opera Mobile web browser and it's very good for downloading. Sometimes it does fail if you go to another app but I've downloaded most ROMs right on the browser and as long as I keep the browser open and surf while it's downloading..........99% of the time there is success

Downoad error message??

I've go the G2 and its rooted.
Anyway, I was checking to see if I did the root properly and ended up resetting my phone to the factory settings , and I went on applanet to get a few of the apps I lost and I'm trying to download, but wheN I do I get a download error message.
Anybody know what the issue may be?
Are you currently properly flashed to a stable rom?

are you downloading it directly to the phone via the phone browser?
sometimes the browser doesn't play nice with certain file downloads... just manually stick them on your sd and open them with a file manager
I have whatever ROM came with the phone lol.
Yeah, looks like I may have to manually do it until I fix the issue, because this has never happened before so I was trying to understand why now.
you can try a free app called "download crutch", it's no longer on the market but if you use a little google'ing you can probably find it. All download crutch does is enable your browser to download files regardless of format

Anyone else see problems downloading .zips?

On every ROM & Kernel combo I have tried I often have problems downloading .zip files.
Today I tried to download the official CyanogenMod nightly via Chrome (have also tried Standard browser and ICS Browser+), and it got all the way to 99%, and as it went to 100% it came up Download Unsuccessful!
I have got this while downloading LOADS of things via the Phone - Kernels, Roms etc.
Is everyone else seeing this? Any ideas how to fix?

clear downloads data via settings applications. There are two downloads apps with different names (downloads and download manager I think) just clear cache and data for both.

I use XWind for downloading - much more reliable...

Annoying Market Glitch - reinstall after wipe

I was booting up for the first time after a wipe, finished the setup and all my apps were auto installing over wifi. Well my power went out in the middle of all the apps downloading,so an error appeared for each app in my status bar.
Manually I could start each installation one by one. All good. But adobe flash player was one of the apps that got interrupted. I've obviously had it installed constantly thru ICS. Well immediately the market won't let the download continue for flash because it got interrupted. Even though it was just installing 30 seconds ago. Says my device is not compatible. Is the market that glitchy where I'm not out of the loop of existing users allowed to continue using flash? It took a simple power outage failed download and the market can't remember I should have flash installed?
I'm annoyed cause I wanted to keep flash officially in my app install list.

Maybe try pulling the flash related apk from a back up, then push to your /system/app folder then fix permissions then use titanium back up to restore market link
- Cheers
Seems as if Adobe has pulled the Flash player out of Play Store earlier then the said august 15th date...
Can't find Flash player on the play store thru search (on a Gnex which doesn't have it installed).
On my phone, which does have it installed, says my device 'isn't compatible with this app' when I go into the Play store and look it up. If you'd like, I could attach the .apk file here..
EDIT: Attached Adobe Flash Player 11 apk

I don't think you can search for Flash on a Gnex since it's not supported. Try browsing to play.Google.com from your desktop. But even if you find it you may not be able to push it to your device.

Hmm, that's strange. Seems your right, but I HAD previously installed it on my Gnex... and flash is working in any case. Maybe it's JB, since it's not supported, it won't show up in the app store?

If you copy the url of the app from your desktop/play store and open it through market on your device, it will say unsupported.
Forget flash. Use html5, it's way better.

Thanks. Yeah this is some kind of bug, Google should be made aware of it. Frustrating.

g play force closes after successfull root

As the title says
Rooted my wfs last night and flashed a custom rom to it today from here showthread.php?t=2283549.. Unlocking the bootloader, rooting and flashing the rom wasn't a problem thanks to the useful threads on this forum. How ever I've on major issue that is really starting to get on my nerves. I noticed the gplay store wasn't installed after installing the rom. I had a quick search and fount a way to install it using the apk, this seemed to go fine aswell, the play store appeared in my menu and loaded but after 3-4 seconds of it loading it force closed. I've tried numerous things I fount like force closing, clearing cache and so on but none of this worked. Anyone got another idea as I really like the feel of this rom and don't fancy having to choose a new one.

Installing the apk manually doesn't work..............you'll have to flash appropriate GAPPS(short for Google Apps),if your rom is a JB one(4.1 or 4.2) do remember to find a "lite" version of GAPPS

While downloading, file disappears before 100%

I have an issue that sprouted about a month ago. No matter what ROM I'm running, if I start to download a file (a new ROM zip, for example) it just disappears mid-download. I'll get to maybe 30%, then it's just gone. I have to go back to the link and click download again.
The only way I can sometimes get through a whole download is to change display settings so that my screen stays on throughout the whole download process. If I close my screen or do anything else, like go to another app, the download disappears at some point, every time!
Any suggestions? Phone didn't do this when I first got it or even after I rooted and ran a custom ROM for a while. It just started randomly..
Happened to me too. Was downloading a ROM and it just disappeared twice (once at 99%). Had to download via ADM.
Same here happens a lot to me, happened in community beta and oxygen os.. So using adm now
yep same here too. FreedomOS 1.5.1 (oos 3.2.6)
Same problem for me too. Even while downloading from play store(1GB+ games etc)
Hopefully this is addressed then, because obviously it's not just me.
Is anyone here using chrome as their browser?
I was told to try an alternative. Now downloads are fine. I'm using Pyrope browser. It's great and it's in the play store.
So i had this issue. Last few days nearly all rom downloads from different sources got aborted. I had a homebutton that was a bit wonkey so i decided to wipe all partitions, including internal storage and sideload oos 3.2.7 to see if it would solve that issue.
So i did. And then after reading this thread decided on a little test. I downloaded 4 roms from different sources including from afh and none aborted.
I can't be absolutely sure at this point that the the full wipe did the trick but it sure looks like it. I'll keep a lookout to see if the issue remains solved.
Here the same probmem ... Corruopted file system?
Still happening for me. Is it because of Chrome?
Play store downloads and third party downloaded are fine
It'a a chrome issue.
