Google search my friend. There are plenty of guides out there but know that it requires a lot of reading and understanding.

A good place to start is get a stock TW ROM and then use XDA kitchen to cook up your own custom one you like....or even more basic find a T-mobile or verizon SGS3 ROM and try this:

Here is the android kitchen link:

Custom ROM? Probably, but I wanted you guys to take a look anyway. And if this is old news I apologize. If this is a ROM and you know which one maybe you could tell me (and maybe other who are thinking the same thing) what ROM it is.

Thanks for your kindness. One more question then... could you supply a link to that post? I would appreciate it. There are a lot there and I don't want to get caught in the wrong one.

You want to go there and download the base rom and the option pack. It will take you to his website just click on the same links and they will take you to file sonic. One is called a.zip and the other is called ir5option pack or something. Flash the a.zip first then flash the option pack.. somewhere in the thread there should also be a zip to flash that has the search bar add on.. at least I think, I am on my phone right now so I am not positive sorry :/

i gotta say - getting your posts up and clogging up a thread is not a way to be a good member. if you have been "Doing android work" since the G1 you should know better and be able to search and read stickies.
shame on you.

All that you have to do is use the search button here on XDA or Google it....But since it looks like you are a newer member of XDA, I will try to help you out. Here on XDA, you can find an answer to just about any question you can think of by using search. If you go to the development section of your phone make, there should be a thread on how to root and add roms to your device. I also like the galaxys3root.com website for video tutorials and rom reviews. Also YouTube has a lot of videos. Just make sure that the rooting method is for your specific phone/carrier or you could do bad things to your expensive phone. That goes for any type of modding you do. Take your time with each step of rooting and you will be fine. It's easier than it looks. Hope this helps. Any questions, just message me.
There are so many threads started for this exact question. So obviously you have done no reading and shouldn't touch your phone until you do. This is how we get the "OMG I BRICKED MY PHONE HELLLPPPP" threads.

A great place to start would be this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1956180
There is LOTs of information in that thread, read all 16 pages if you can. Srsly. (Or at least the first three posts, and the last three pages. thats a great way to approach any thread here.)
On top of that, well, there a tot of sticky threads, and many helpful users with great information and tips. Be sure to be respectful, give as much technical details with problems you have, and at least Try to search for the answer before asking. (I guarantee there are at least two threads for any question you might have.)
If this is your first root, welcome to your new hobby!
Ok thank you

Most of the roots that worked with 4.1.1 will work with the latest update. I updated and rerooted the same way after. Worked perfectly.

i have just recently rooted my phone and i want to get into all the rom management but i really dont want to flash a bad rom and brick my phone, so i was wondering if any of you have used cyanogenmod on your tmobile samsung galaxy s4 sgh-m919 and could give me the okay that its a safe rom to use.
Thank you !!
It's a functional ROM.
There's always a risk with flashing any ROM, the more you know, the less the risk.

It's a very nice ROM. If you are looking for AOSP ROM, give the Virgin ROM a try. I've used both and both are rock solid. Here is the link for Virgin ROM

You need to research and learn to do it correctly to avoid problems but in answer to your question, there is a version of cyanogenmod for the SGH-M919 variant and it works just fine. I am currently using a touchwiz rom but one of my good friends had been on cyanogenmod for 2 months now and won't use anything else.
