Is anyone running stock 10.2.6 with TWRP installed?
If so, please make a nandroid backup and provide me with the boot.img from the backup.
If you meet the conditions above and want to help but don't know how.. Ask here I'll be glad to help you help me.
OR if you have the boot.img from another method... That's cool too.
I would do it myself, but i don't feel like going back to stock just yet.

You should be able to extract it from the full 10.2.6 recovery image.

Do you know which is the correct file? There are multiple boot images as far as i can tell.,

I tried to root my Kindle Fire using KFU 0.9.6. But am unable to root, only the TWRP got installed.
In almost all the websites I found that once TWRP got installed properly then the yellow triangle will appear during reboot. But am unable to see that during reboot.
But am able to see kindle fire with blue color, instead of the ellow Triangle
could someone help me out in this?

how do you know that TWRP got installed if you can't see the bootloader icon? Maybe try a different version of KFU, 0.9.5 works for me. Also be sure that your KFU recognizes your kindle when it's plugged in. The ADB status should say ONLINE in the main menu window.
Try this video on how to root 6.3.1 it works for me perfectly fine just make sure you follow all of the steps word for word. Just go to YouTube and type in "how to root kindle fire nat3mil" I would have posted a link but I'm new so it won't let me post links.

The yellow icon is the old version . The Kindle Fire with Fire in blue is the new version. It threw me off when I rooted mine for the 1st time too.

Yeah, this should be the version of Fire Fire Fire (1.4a) that was installed with KFU 0.9.6. There is a slight bug in the load up that will require you to tap the power button a few times to be able to switch between loaders (Normal, Recovery, Fast). Hashcode knows of it but it's not really a priority at this point since it's not causing anyone issues getting in to Recovery. Just a couple extra taps of the power button does the trick.
If you're looking to do a full wipe of the stock rom, make sure you clear cache, dalvik cache and do a factory reset.

Rooted Amazon Kindle Fire with KFU Utility
Hey guys just wanted to give a little input. I was able to use the KFU utility ( the newest version ) and it worked just fine. I now have the Recovery installed TWRP but flashed Clockwork Recovery and all works. I'm looking to flash a 4.0 ICS version but haven't found the right source or file. Maybe I can be lead in the right direction. Thanks in advance! !!! Also uploading pic:

I also had problems with the latest KFU. I was left with 'partially' rooted device. I installed superuser.apk after that and now it's OK. I can even temporary unroot it to using OTA RootKeeper. AFAIK the only way to watch Amazon Prime videos is to temporary unroot the device.

Hey just wanted to reply about video player. I also was having problems playing videos after downloading videos like 3gp's and MP4's respectively. I downloaded a video player for those formats and now no longer have a problem viewing videos after download.

I highly suggest you do not use ClockWorkMod Recovery with the Kindle Fire. It has been known to cause the Kindle to brick. Stick with TWRP even if you don't like it.
Unable to root! Stucked on TWRPP 2.2.0 Screen with several options
Hello,
I've tried to root my Kindle fire using KFU 0.9.6)
However, when the KFU is processing the rooting, the kindle restarts and stucks itself on the TWRPP Screen with several options (Install, Backup, Restore...) and the KFU software shows a message of Please wait.
Does anyone know how to move on with the rooting?

Really? Nothing shows on the Kindle at all? You get absolutely no graphics of any kind whatsoever?
I believe the my computer was getting in the way of KFU but I unpluged it started up and I tried again with success

I am new to Android and rooting an general but so far what I have done I have liked. I have rooted the Kindle fire .I downloaded version 0.9.6 from xda-developers.com and the OS is 6.3.1 ( I think this is Gingerbread?).
My question is, I would like to install ICS on the Kindle but I am not sure where to start and what is the most stable? Is there a stock image from Google? If I get one from xda will there some how be malware attached? can I trust from other sources? what am I looking for in a image?

It is easy to install ics if you have twrp installed. Well do you?. If you do. download the ics.zip and go on twrp click on install
look for the zip folder and the slide to install

First of all, I'd like to thank you all that make this community so valuable to us. I read the forum since I got my KF, around 6 months ago, and all the tutorials are very well detailed.
Today I tried to install a new ROM on my Kindle for the first time. It all went well, and I successfully installed the stock Jelly Bean from Hashcode. But the problem now is: I don't know how to install the GApps on it.
I'm trying to use the ADB and Kindle Fire Utility but it doesn't find the device.
Anyone of you guys could give me a hand with that problem?

Are you using twrp? You flash gapps onto it the same way you flash a Rom. Boot into twrp, go to install, locate the directory where you have the gapps.zip file stored and click on it, flash it. Then wipe cache/ and dalvik cache and reboot.

I think the problem is with the adp drivers...I can not find my device so I can restart it with TWRP.
Ok but if you have fire fire fire and twrp installed already you should be able to bout into twrp by pushing the power button repeatedly during startup until it shows you voting into recovery mode.
Make sure you have the correct drivers installed,I believe the kf should show up as composite adb interface device on your pc with the right drivers. Someone else might be able to help you more but really the easiest way to flash gapps is to do it through twrp the exact same way you flash the new Rom minus the system wipe and factory reset.
Your device is a first gen kindle I assume?

Yes, it is a first gen Kindle.
I'm trying to boot to TWRP pressing the power button during startup but either I'm doing it wrong or something went bad after I installed the ROM.
I also tried to install the ADB driver in another computer but after I connect the kindle the PC recognizes it only as "Amazon Kindle Fire", and not the ADB interface.
I don't know what to do. But thanks for your help!
Try using the pc that is recognizing it as a kindle fire, uninstall the kindle fire drivers through device manager and then install the Google adb drivers, then hook the kindle back up to it via usb and see if it shows up correctly then?
Is your boot screen showing kindle fire in blue and white or the stock orange or something else?

The ROM is indeed much better than the stock one on the KF.

i luckily rooted my kindle fire and yes it is kf second generation. i had to use to methods and then i install twrp via adb then i had to use adb sileload to move my rom and gapp because after i formated the system and wipe everything i was not able to mount my kf to pc but somehow i did it, thank you so much for your help. Now i feel like a Boss thanks now i am running jelly bean
I have a Kindle Fire HD 7 (7.4.6) rooted and I want to know if there's a way that I can install the TWRP Recovery without flashing any rom at the moment and most important without bricking it. I want to have it installed in case that in a future I want to flash a rom. I think it's a must have tool on this device but I'm not quite sure if it's possible and I don't want to try how-to's that I've read in these forums because it's not what I'm looking for and I don't want to mess up the KF . Any help or advice on this will be very appreciated. :angel:
